Better question: why the HECK did you decide to create this thread in the DEVELOPMENT forum? Which part of the "myTouch 3G Slide Q&A" forum title did you not comprehend? The 'Q' or the 'A?'
For heavens sake, people. Read the big stickied post at the top of the forum before posting! Feh.

Well I figg that since there isx an obvious diff between two roms wit same hardware it is dev related and why must you be such an ass the root of the question is very much related to the development of roms

In all respect, Hebrew and r0manz have very legitimate reasons for responding the way they did to you and many others who have committed the same error as you did. The Q&A forum is for pretty much all questions, either related to development, or otherwise, because you can pretty much connect any question to some kind of development anyway. The development forum is used specifically for contribution and development to projects like ROMs, scripts, mods, etc, which includes testing and debugging. When you ask a question in the development forum, you're pretty much saying, "I have no intention of starting this project but I'm hoping someone else will do it for me and then show me how to do it." The other thing is that these errors can easily be avoided by reading just a little bit.
The real reason why the developers are leaving these forums are because there are way too many people, and way too many posts, of people wanting things, or even demanding things, without even the slightest hint towards giving back. And I'm sure donations are great, but I get the feeling that more than money, the devs would much rather prefer people to act with common-sense. It's this stupid entitlement that allows people to think they deserve anything the developers offer at all, which is betrayed by the fact that their posts offer nothing in the way of constructive development in return.
So if you stick around long enough, you'll see that pretty much everybody sides with these guys. We'd rather see development on these forums not people talking about development.
Why doesn't my mac mini benchmark as high as my mac pro?!?!?!?! They both run OSX 1.6????

Erm, the Slide has a MSM7227 processor clocked at 600mhz while the Nexus One has a Snapdragon clocked at 1000mhz. It has nothing to do with the devs (who do GREAT work mind you) but the hardware.

I'm hoping English is your second language. FRF91 is only referring to the build of froyo the nexus is currently on and the build our 2.2 is based on. I think you are confused and need to research more before you carry on.

^ You see that? That's a period. It keeps everything from running together. When you finish one thought, and wish to start another one, you use a period. If you are asking a question, you use a question mark (?). If you are excited, you use an exclamation point! Also, commas can be used to list different things, or simply to separate parts of a sentence, as I did in this sentence. Thank you, I hope you take all this under consideration.

Why would you make *this* your first post on the XDA forums? Seriously, you created a *NEW* thread just to ask a question that nobody here would really know the answer to? A question that has already been asked a hundred times!
Please, for the love of all that is good and right in this world, think before you post. Search before you post. And count to ten and ask yourself, "Is this the right forum to ask this question?" before you post.

according to the timeline that was leaked we should get it at the end of this month.
It could be a month, it could be 2 or it could be several. Just be happy you have a phone that works. It will be out when its out. if you want it so soon learn to do it your self and do it your self.

Agreed. So one could do one of two things.
1) google: mytouch slide 3g android 2.2 release date, obtain answer.
2) locate android development forum, create a new account, confirm account, write message asking question, wait 6 hours, obtain answer.
But to be fair he asked when we think the slide will get it and not if we had any real information... so... July 27th at 2:45PM EDT.
Really?
What a waste of a thread wheres the moderator when you need em
Why does it take them so long to release an update? When new windows come out for millions of different pc's they have it working in days if it doesn't already work out the box. Here we have something smaller than even nlited windows xp,and it takes them months. Is it that hard to write drivers for these phones or they just taking they sweet time?If its that hard why not make it simple, make a program for android like nlite that slipstreams drivers and we good to go,is there a reason for all this compexity?
One more quistion does bios on these phones ever gets updates?

Main differences is, with PCs, the hardware is modular, and it is left up to the individual hardware components manufacturer's to make sure everything is up to date. The phone is an all in one. Add on top of that, the Sense UI that allows you to basically change the entire look and feel of the OS. So the core updates have to take all the variances in hardware into consideration.

Why one word comes to mind TROll. Someone said 10 min I guess I missed that update Now I have to wait till "July 27th at 2:45PM EDT".
is all that really necessary? we have a rom, yes it needs work, but now we can let the flaming die and do some work. if someone asks a question that seems obvious, just dont respond. eventually they will either find the answer on their own, or they will give up. its annoying to watch this forum for updates and information when half the posts are to flame someone. someone wants to mention wasting threads, recover the thread and make it useful.
now that there is a rom to work with, does anyone want to work on making it usable while the experienced devs build something with some polish?
Sufficient number of threads on this topic already; closed.
I have a Nexus One, absolutely love it, best phone I've ever had tried. My girlfriend just upgraded to a MyTouch Slide, and all the wonderful enhancements that HTC and TMobile have added to make users lives easier are so great that we want to know how to get them off the phone quickly and easily. She likes how easy to use my N1 is, and I'm hoping there's a ROM that's comparable, and usable by a non-techie user.
I'm quite technically competent, but have barely begun to dip my toes in the Android hacking waters. I rooted my phone for practice and have rooted her's as well. I can take complicated instructions or not-for-beginners advice, but as to how to get that advice, I'm a noob.

Your best bet would be to get cm6 on both handys they will have the latest features and will be almost identical if you want to set them up that way, the biggest diff is that stock slide roms are "sense" roms which is why the UI is so much different, so get cm6 for both and do a lot of reading and you'l be fine...
You will get flamed less if you have enuff knowledge to ask the right question properly, so search first ask questions later

I know it can be frustrating at times especially when you need an answer asap.. but there may be a few reasons why no one answers your question
-its been asked way too many times (search for it)
-no one understands your question or knows the answer
-the evo 4g isn't neccesarily "new" therefore there's less traffic in this forum
-People work have other things to deal with and it may be a while (sometimes a long while) before you get an answer.

Basically covered all the reasons why not to reply.
And when your question is about MetroPCS (I checked), you're less likely to get replies because the vast majority of members here use Sprint.
If there's a specific site for phones flashed to other networks, you'd be better asking there. People can't answer what they don't know.

Most have moved on and the ones that are here with the answers usually only bounce in and out of their own Rom threads.

Experienced users do post in the Q & A section. And to make a thread just to see if it gets attention seems like a trap / childish [to me] , just like a person would pretend to have a fake bf/gf to see if the other gets jealous. Though regardless, experienced user do post here, I've seen it quite frequently. IF there were some question that wasn't answered and someone knows someone who can help, 9/10 that personal would say, "I don't know how to help, but if you look up _______ they can help you."
Also, the only place you can't post til abot 20 posts or so, if the development section. That's only because a lot of new users post Q & A questions there, clogging up that board, when they belong here. You can still read and download rom, just can't post there til ~20 posts, when you are more 'educated' on the forum. No bad mouthing, just saying.
I totally understand cause yea you do see it all the time where at the end of a guide full of roms. Someone asks what's a good rom or where do I find it. We should be able to take a test on experience to bypass the 20 post thing. My frustration came from knowing my answered would of lyed on this forum but no one even viewed it for days. Who thinks we should split the dev section into build numbers? So you would have EG30, EK02 and EL13 and once you enter one of those you would have the normal items just for that build number. I think this would make it much easier to use but it would require help from mods. What do you all think?
I agree its nice to have segregation, but usually the older versions have a tendency to age out due to constant updates, so its a self fulfilling action sometimes.
Edit: Off topic, but your ACS badge on the bottom left of your sig reminds me of Marine infantry unit insignia's mark of the beast, So kudo's if that was the intent

This. Organically, builds should always end up being made on the latest builds (unless severe problems are found in a new build).
EDIT: Plus, our device is in it's infancy of manufacturer-software-development. Things are going to seem fragmented until the number of builds level off. Then, you'd be stuck with archaic sub-forums lol.

I don't think it's necessary. If devs would put exactly what it is in the header without unnecessary embellishments that would suffice. I look at the International SGS2 forums and they have numerous builds and Roms and seem to do just fine.
One sticky containing all the radios (modems), one sticky containing all the kernels and all that's pretty much left are Roms. If devs are mandated to put the version number in their thread title as well as their descriptions, subforums really aren't necessary.
.....
.....
If it was up to me and I was XDA's forum webcoder. There would be off-topic, Theme's, Apps as individual sub-forums in every Phone Community.
Secondly. Under Development I would give the Mod's Power to Create Sub category's for each "build leak/release." and have MIUI,CM and AOSP in one category.
Keep in mind you would be able to post in Development section still like now. Just there would be child forums for it. (kinda hard to explain.)
Lastly. Just like how we have "Announcement" that's displayed in every freakin sections we browse. Each community would have a chat box that is displayed on right column (like facebook) to act as a IRC chat.
I'm not for this

I remember the OG Epic battle for child forums... wasnt it QnA that we argued for forever...? I guess they figure of they put in more work on one forum, word will get out and they will have to do it for every device. Its too bad we cant have mods that are dedicated (i.e. they own and mainly use) to each device... but I understand its all volunteer etc...
I just hope that the build leaks dont turn into the OG Epic... new leak every 5 minutes so the devs end up waiting for some 'final' version... I say if theres no significant change skip it... and keep supporting what works till something truly different comes along.
EDIT: Also... love the embedded irc... seems a lot of the devs hang out in irc and nothing gets posted in the threads. It was really cool on the OG Epic when we could read and participate in the conversations, but not have to be in a chatroom... im blue collar... cant be on the interwebs all day. I know it works for the devs though... so oh well I guess...

I just moved from my Miui running HTC HD2 to the T-Mobile S2 and I really like the phone but where are the Miui ROMs? Langthang had an awesome one for the HD2 and there was a couple of others that had a large following.
Am I missing something? ;-)
Thanks,
Kevin
This phone is still relatively new.
Gotta give it time.
More support couldn't hurt though.
But yeah give it time.
Yeah, Like he said. Give it more time. If you don't wanna wait hop on the galaxy nexus bro. More deb's over there. I just really hope when G4x is out there is a lot more dev on that device.

I think you bought a 8 pack of crayons and it was missing all the bright ones...(this is the android development section...i think maybe because your asking a question you should have put in the Q & A section)
For one dude we have to use a little brain stimulation here so bare with me, how old is the hd2? ok been out for a hot min right? ok and how old is the gs2? yea not been out so long. ding ding ding i think we have the answer.
i know they say the only stupid question is an unasked one, but their wrong (the guy who said that was the one who went to raise his hand in class and his teacher told him to shut up)
Ok yea....sorry again just tired or reading post that people started and its a stupid question that with the tiniest amount of common sense could have been answered by the OP

I just find it ironic how the guy calling people out on stupid questions has the most grammatical errors on their post. At least if you're gonna call people out have the decency to be a grammar nazi.

lol so true.
I have my share of trolling people for posting repetitive questions and in the wrong section, but sometimes people really don't know what to do or where to go. Each device's subforum are setup differently. Usually these threads should be replied once or twice at most and the thread can be moved or die out. However, we're in no position to talk down on anyone. We're all people behind these words. It can be a kid, an adult, someone's grandparents, who knows. But condescending words can totally ruin someone's mood and day and that will be reflected upon.
Wow.

Sometimes people dont know where to go or what to do, really? Yea I'm not not gonna lie I was bit of an asshole, but im sure if he made to the GS2 forums that he passed the Q&A section on the way in. And I also understand that he wonders why there aren't any MIUI ROMS, but come on. How would it seem for me to go into the SGS3 forum and be like "Where are all ROMS? I had a SGS2 and there alot of roms, (insert name) has alot of great ROMS for the SGS2. Am I missing something?"
I do apologize for being such an ass, but if you dont understand what I'm tryin to say then all hope is lost.

And don't get me wrong I understand where you all are coming from, but what I pointed out had to do with this forum. (No matter how assholish it may have been) Grammar does not.... I do apologize OP not for what I said (because I stand by that) but for how I went about it.

Why do you hate that guy? You don't even know him. I agree with what he is trying to say, just not the manner in which it was stated. The op has obviously been around xda long enough to know about miui, he should know where questions belong. There is a reason there are different sub boards. There is no sense in filling the development section with ridiculous questions. A little research goes a long way. If he wanted a miui rom he should of checked the dev board before purchasing the device. Since he didn't, he should have read a little and would have noticed that cm and miui is lacking on our device...

Agree with jdubb a 100 pct. Phones like the hd2 have been out for a long time and we all know of about its huge dev support. Our phones are relatively new and people just gotta be patient. Straight up. If not, sell your phone and go get a Galaxy Nexus.

Reported - wrong forum.....bunched panties.
The op might have posted in the wrong section but the post is helpful in reminding DEV's that there is still interest in the ROM. From what I was reading on XDA and other sites was that MIUI for the TMO SGS2 should have come out around Xmas.
The delay as I understand it is due to lack of Cyanogen support, which is another ROM most of us are waiting to try and as far as I know the development of that has been halted until V9 is available.
Yes, I donate!

I agree with mainmast on this one, and I think he answered the question and the root cause of the problem quite succinctly. If his was the first response to the OP, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. This type of quick question in the dev forum can indicate a certain level of interest in the port. I come here looking for ROMs, and I have a specific interest in MIUI, as I love to use that on my Nexus One. Admittedly, I don't frequent the Q&A section as much as this forum, but I still want to know about the progress on a MIUI rom.
Not to add to an out of place post, but we can agree that the post from our military friend (thanks for your service, btw) was pretty strongly worded. Subsequently, the additional comments (including mine) have just added to the legitimacy of this question... we're all invested enough in the question or the forum to respond.
There is interest in an MIUI ROM???
