[Q] Data Connection Problem - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Okay, I can connect to the Internet when I'm using my Wi-Fi connection with no problem, and also when I'm connected via MediaNet. However, when my Wi-Fi connection is on, I get connection errors when trying to connect to Marketplace, AppCenter, etc. I can still navigate the Internet just fine, otherwise, but if I want to connect to the Marketplace, I have to shut the Wi-Fi connection off.
My guess is I fat-fingered a connection setting, but I don't know which one and what the settings should be. Can anyone help me out with the default connection settings for an AT&T Tilt 2? I don't like the idea of having to use my plan data usage to access Marketplace and such.
Thanks

Do you turn off the proxy when using Wifi?

Nope, didn't mess with the proxy setting.
I dug around more elsewhere and found someone with a similar problem relating to authentication for Marketplace. The fix, for Marketplace at least, is to simply uninstall Marketplace. The shortcut remains, so click on that and it asks if you want to install Marketplace. Seems to work just fine after that. Not terribly concerted with AppCenter, and I don't think you can uninstall that, anyway.

So Marketplace is working once more, but the AT&T stuff is still a no-go. AppCenter/Media Mall, Mobile Video, Navigator, etc. won't connect. I ran the restore proxy cab, which did nothing, so I disabled it again. Not sure what I goofed up to render those apps useless.

Make sure you have MediaNet as your selected network. The AT$T ISP is suddenly very flaky.

Question about internet access

I'm quite sure I have my xda iis configure incorrectly.
When I go into connections. There is only one entry. That is "my work network". I have my isp set up in there so I can access the internet via gprs.
This works perfectly. I have outlook checking my email every 5 mins.
Here's the problem.
When I connect it to my computer, it still checks for email, but it doesn't use gprs, it looks like it uses the network my computer is on. (which is great!)
Now, the problem I'm having is when I disconnect it from the cradle gprs does not start back. it says its using the grps connection, but never connects. (I can tell that it's not doing anything because the computer speakers dont' make their normal noises when the phone is communicating with my wireless provider).
Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong? do i need to provide more information?
Download the pdf file from PapaDocta's post in 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21876'. Your Connections screen should actually look like shown in the picture below. I actually needed a hard reset coz I had checked the "network connections" in the non volatile memory, and it kept loading earlier settings which caused the problem. A hard reset, and following the instructions in the pdf sorted my internet access problems out!

weird windows live messenger issue please help

I've got my Touch 2 pro a few days ago, loving it so far apart from one really annoying issue.
I can't seem to sign into windows live messenger!
whenever i try it gives me :
Windows Live is temporarily unable to connect. You may be out of coverage for data connections.
what I've tried so far is:
when I connect to WIFI in my house - it connects fine.
disconnect from wifi and try again - fail - same message.
all this time I'm showing a full strength HSDPA connection - 4 bars.
I can surf the net using opera and IE, can use apps like youtube and facebook.
I took my new T-mobile sim out and put it in my old HTC Wizard - after reconfiguring the settings I can connect fine, surf the net and connect using the messenger app.
put in my old O2 sim which still has active data connection into my touch2 pro, tried to connect with this - same message.
tried a soft reset - same.
tried a hard reset - same.
phone t-mobile and verified I have unlimited data package (web & walk combi 30), confirmed with this this is full data and not just http.
all seems to be pointing to the client installed on my touch2 pro, yetI can't understand why it would work over wifi and when connected via activesynch yet not over my phone data connection.
Any ideas/insight would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know where I could find another copy of Windows live messanger to install and test?
Fixed
after finding and reinstalling the new version of windows live, flashing the rom etc still same.
The culprit turned out to the auto network configuration settings. It had put on a proxy server. Disabled this and it's now working fine.
Weird. but fixed at least!
I have the similar issue, can you please shed some more details as to what I have to do to disable proxy server.
Sure,
Go to Start > Settings > All Settings. Hit the connections tab and click connections. Go to manage existing connections. Click the proxy settings tab. disable the "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet".

htc wifi router installed, now internet not working

I got the htc wifi router working and surfed for a few minutes. I logged out of my PC and back in and the internet wouldnt work on my PC or my phone. I rebooted my phone and still the same problem. Has anyone else run across this problem? How do I fix it/troubleshoot it? 3G is showing it is connected
Has anyone else had this problem? I had to finally do a hard reset/wipe to get things working again.
There's another similar report here, maybe in the cdma area.
I'm not clear on your issue. Is this wmwifi not working after a reboot or Activesync not recognizing after the reboot?
And are you using the latest wmwifi?
edit: I'm adding that I downloaded the latest wmwifirouter last friday 18sep09, and I thought it was a vpn/wifi issue on my laptop. My TP2 did not recognize under activesync after I did a few things, but WM did work the one time I tested it.
I am not using wmwifi. I am using HTC CM Internet Sharing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4170499#post4170499
I figured it was put out by HTC (and free) so it should work right?
It created the wifi access point fine, and I was able to surf with my laptop at good speeds. I left and came back and the internet would no longer connect (laptop or phone).
I tried everything from soft rebooting, to removing the application, to calling *228 (reset the phone), and even manually setting up the verizon data settings. Nothing worked. I just could not establish a data connection.
Finally I gave up and did a hard reboot and restore and it finally worked.
I really need a reliable way of setting up a wifi access point but dont want to risk this fiasco again.
Yeah, I mis-read your first post, sorry!
For me it was as simple as starting the wifi router program and then cleanly stopping it. If forced to quit, you will have no network access. It's happened a couple times for me.

Hi there, I had used htc wifi router a while back and hadnt tried connecting the phone to the local wifi network since. After reading your post, I thought I'd check and yes I was getting the same problem, i.e. it wouldn't connect to my home wifi network.
I found the fix to be as follows:
1) Go into comms manager, turn WiFi on
2) Under settings go to wireless LAN
3) In the main tab you will that the SSID is set to "Mobile router", select change network button underneath.
4) Now you should see the SSID of your network, dont select anything, just press o.k at the top and hey presto it will connect.
Let us know if this worked.

Thanks. I couldnt connect to the internet through 3G either though, even though the 3G icon was showing in my status bar.

Ah, that's probably for some other reason, no issues with 3G connection for me.
Same problem for me. I connect to the mobile through wifi (Adhoc connection) and the mobile is connected in 3G but I can't surf internet from my laptop.
Enable DHCP
Hi all
Sometimes after using this software you need to renable DHCP in the connections settings. This can be done via:
Start>Settings>Connections>WiFi>Wireless Networks>Network Adaptors>NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Adaptor and then select Use server-assigned IP address.
Cheers

[Q] Wi-Fi & Apps

Hi there,
I am using my friend's old HTC Touch Pro 2 as my phone decided to jump into a glass of water.
I have set everything up but my apps (facebook, marketplace, ...) don't seem to use my wifi. I have tested this by turning off my 3G connection and trying the apps. They report, that I have to check my internet connection.
Under Wireless controls > Menu > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks there is a choice of what connection should be used for programs that connect to the internet automatically. But as I go further into these settings it only allows changes for the 3G connection. I'm not sure if this is even the correct settings.
Can anyone shed any light on any kind of solution?
Thanks in advance.
In 2015 still no answer - and I have the same probleme on my HTC TOUCH PRO2 (RHODIUM100).
Hopefully there is a genius that can answer this now
JBJ
In connection manager - did you check if wifi is turned on?
Hi B-44, yes and i have no probleme connecting and surfing the net with opera or IE.
I looked further in to this, so when I go to settings>All Settings>Connections:
In advanced Network I have turned OFF both HSDPA and HSDPA/HSUPA by choosing disable - Don't like extra charges, since I don't have data plan on this number.
In Comm Manager, only Phone and Wi-Fi is ON
In Connections, there is only these options:
Add a new modem connection
Add a new VPN server connection
Set up my proxy server
Still in Connections>Advanced>Select Networks>Network Management> "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should be using:" The options are:
Lebara MMS
Lebara Internet
My Work Network
My ISP
Lebara is my phone company.
- Dailing rules
- Exceptions
-- None that I can see has anything to do with Wi-Fi. Its mostly modem or VPN. I can't add a Wi-Fi connection here unless its something cryptic as setting up an VPN or Proxy server.
Facebook, wAppstore, Windows Live, Youtube, twitter - can't connect.
Opera, IE, Bing, GetJar - can connect without trouble.
I can login to Facebook through Account Manager, but the App installed won't connect to the net.
I'm a bit lost here How is your phone set up?
JBJ
Will take a look.
btw- which system is your Rhodium running with?
WM 6.5 Professional - CE os 5.2.21887 (Build 21887.5.0.86)
I had asked just to be shure...
Now- i don't really have a solution.
As your browsers work using wifi it may be the apps.
On my wm phones i used to install SPB weather.
Some months ago on all of them SPB data update started to fail
and never ever worked again. No matter if on wm5, 6.0 or 6.5.
I couldn't find any hint or solution.
If you search the web "windows mobile facebook supported" you'll find
some entrys which won't please you.
I presume there's no solution to us using wm.
Hi again, actually I'm not so concerned about FB since I hardly use it - its more the other apps that concerns me. Like the Wappstore, Omarket, and so on, I just added FB because its built in. It would seem that there are programs that cannot, use Wi-Fi - but rather want to use 3G.
Is there someone in this forum who know how to make a registry fix or program(.exe or .cab) to re-direct programs to Wi-Fi instead of always going for the 3G net? I would be nice with a switch where you can flip between 3G and Wi-Fi, just like the Curvefish 3G On/Off widget for android http://curvefish.com/widgets/2g3g-onoff.htm
With kind regards
JBJ
I'm still searching When I have a solution I will post it here
Thanks for you effort
With kind regards
JBJ
Hi, I never found a solution - so I guess you need a data plan to use this phone with the FB and other apps that don't like to use wi-fi.
With kind regards
JBJ

Swann Security Remote View, Home WiFi Works, Mobile Data Doesn't

Hello all!
Recently I've purchased the Swann DVR8-1425 security system.
I've been able to connect it to my home network successfully. I can remote view the cameras through my T999L (no root, completely stock) on WiFi through the SwannView app, but as soon as I put it into mobile data, it shows me a message of not being able to contact the server. I'm assuming if I were at someone elses house on their WiFi, it would be the same result. Same issue on my Dad's S2, rooted, running Infamous 3.0 in the T989 forums.
I've messed with most, if not all the settings I can possibly use with trial and error. When it comes down to it, obviously there's only the one setting that works with my WiFi (the given IP address from the DVR and a server port given: 9000) and it won't connect with mobile data whatsoever (2g, 4g, or LTE). I've tried using HTTP port 85 instead of the 9000, a preferred DNS server in place of the IP address, turning on and off UpNp (not really sure what that does). Absolutely nothing. Server connection fail each time when using mobile data.
I've disabled the firewall in hopes of it working, but I've had no luck. Haven't reset the router, assuming I just unplug and replug but other than that, I'm out of ideas. Not sure what else I can work on besides the firewall, if that even does anything.
The Swann software installed on my Mac does work, but haven't had a chance to test it somewhere other than my home network. It could work, but I wouldn't know at this point. Just more concentrated on the mobile data issue.
My knowledge is small when it comes to this networking stuff. Connecting to a WiFi hotspot is about as easy as it gets for me lol. I just got lucky with trial and error for setting it up with the home network. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this or ideas that may come to mind. At the worst, I won't be able to remote view anywhere other than using my wifi, but it will still record at least.
Thanks in advance!

Seems to me you should test the remote connection elsewhere before you start troubleshooting a problem thst may not even exist. If its not configured correctly to do what you want, its not going to work across the internet which would include the mobile data.
Make sure you can access what you want remotely, then test over mobile data. Unless I read that wrong it doesn't sound to me like you've done this. You can test the mobile data connection all you want, but if its not working remotely by any other means you will be wasting your time. (Unless you got lucky and configured it correctly, but as you said, youre not very experienced with this).
Until you verify it does work remotely, there's no reason to assume its your phone or T-Mobile that is the problem.
Tbh, I'd assume first it was a router config on your side. (Unplugging it doesn't reset its settings, and even if it did it may not be configured as needed by default.)
You'd probably find better support by going to the equipment website and router website.
Sorry I don't have the answer your looking for, but hopefully ill get you in the right direction.

After read this earlier, I facepalmed myself and went to go test this out. Drove over to Starbucks a few minutes ago, connected to their wifi through my phone and it didn't connect Hmm...definitely a router setting then. The dvr itself is connected to the router by an ethernet cable. Just a matter of figuring out how to configuring the router settings. Thanks!
Try bluestacks
Hey. I came across this page looking for a solution to a similar problem. My new swann system connects fine with my phone on Orange but wouldn't connect to my partners identical phone on Vodafone via mobile Internet. Both worked on wifi. I solved by asking Google for my ip address, then going onto the swannview link app, under my device is a button to edit, on the edit page where it has p2p if you tap the line it gives you another option to connect with ip, then enter your ip where it says host. Save details with icon in top right and log in. This solved my issue, hope it helps anyone with the same issue.

Fix
Hello..
I am also using Lorex wireless security camera for my home but till now I am not facing any issue because all configuration is performed by experts. But I have two fixes for your issue.
Either contact with Lorex Support Team for help or follow steps:
Check with your mobile data service provider to confirm if they allow streaming of constant information over their network.
Configure a lower substream video resolution in your DVR / NVR settings to reduce mobile data usage and increase your connection speed.
If you cannot connect to your cameras using an LTE or IPv6 connection, switch to a 3G connection.
If you are using a device ID through your mobile plan, set up a Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) to eliminate the need to pass through the Stratus / FLIR Cloud servers.
Hope it helps!
