[Q] Any roms with the stock vanilla dialer? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if there are any other roms available besides CM6 that have the stock dialer. Or if there's a way to flash it over another rom, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would also like to know. I like it better.

Any ROM which has any Sense crud will have the Sense dialer.

I wondered this same thing. I loved using cyanogen, but it was murder on my battery and took forever to charge. Right now I'm back to stock waiting for the OTA update, but would love to have the vanilla phone and Contacts app back again!

Where is the vanilla 2.2 Froyo ROM?

It seems like all of the available ROMs have either Sense, or ADW launcher. Why no pure vanilla Froyo 2.2, with the stock launcher?...or am I just missing it? I'm talking Nexus One pure, with no additions or changes whatsoever, besides root.

Stock and Vanilla in this case don't mean the same thing -- stock roms are Sense based, and Vanilla refers to android without any sense -- as you would have on the nexus one, or compiling from Android Open Source Project code.

vanilla as in, not be slashed and hacked by a developer...untouched in a sense, that is vanilla to me
I'm working on porting the stock FRF91 from the N1 as we speak. I have never done this before and am therefore using only the basic kitchen. If it works and I can verify little or no bugs I will post it in android development. I can't make any promises though.

hey tc, i tried to port frf92 as well, but my question is, why are folders missing after the port.
hope your port goes well. i made a patched cm6 to hold myself over until there was a vanilla port, but as the time goes by, i just feel more and more like the real vanilla. good luck.

i hear that it is hard to port from the basic kitchen. whoever o talk to says that it wont boot.
check the /system folder. im sure some subfolders are missing. i tried to port EVOlution from the evo not too long ago, but when i realized folders werent there, i just decided to forget it.
quick question- what rom did you use as the one "from your phone" as the kitchen would put it???

Skyraider 1.0, all it was looking for was the kernel I think. Might compile the kernel myself and use the zimage I generate. When I have time that is. I would love the stock nexus froyo.

maybe try cm6 or just stock 2.1 when you get a chance.

After trying both CM6 and SkyRaider Vanilla, I'm still looking for a true vanilla rom!!
CM 6.0.1 is vanilla, but it's still HEAVILY modified. Plus, it freezes with a blank screen, or Exchange stops updating, or force closes pop up every once in a while, etc.
SkyRaider has a "vanilla" version, but again it's heavily modified.
I'm not asking for just a vanilla UI, I'd like a vanilla UI AND OS. Give me a vanilla OS that hasn't been screwed with...please? A clean, stock, VANILLA UI and OS that's as near to Google's code as possible (like the Nexus One for example), that hasn't been tinkered with, and that just works on the Incredible.
Is this possible????
Check out the Ruby rom in the development section.

CM6 is the ONLY ROM without Sense right now.
Can't you just download launcher pro from the market? What about adw launcher? Root your phone and delete the bloat. A lot of stuff can be deleted manually. Message enomther and see if he will port his nexus Rom to evo. It is a great Rom.

There is a Senseless Froyo-Fusion out, but I haven't tried it.
I personally tossed around the idea of a stripped down ROM, but like 2.1 can't get the AOSP dialer working, and the AOSP calendar had some wierd issues.
I know of at least one more established ROM dev that is currently working on a 2.2 version with sense stuff stripped out. I'm guessing we will see it in the next few days.
But other than CM, none of these are true sense-removed roms. They still are Sense at the core (framework level) but have AOSP apps in place of sense apps, and a different launcher. If you want a true AOSP, CM is the only one, and I'm pretty sure for other phones most AOSP builds are based off CM.

Suggest a ROM for me

So I have rooted my EVO running froyo, now I want a better rom than just a rooted stock one. I am trying to find a froyo rom with sense, overclocking, 4G, wifi tethering, and 802.11N. Any suggestions??
Why don't you search the development forum and read the roms. They all are different. And some have bugs that WiFi or 4g isn't working. Overclocking deals with kernel not Rom. I suggest doing some reading in the forum and read stickies in each forum. WiFi tether is an app you download from the market. Yet again nothing to do with a Rom. Some roms include it as why you should read up the roms.
Edit: and what do you call better? You will end up trying bunch of roms before you find one you like over the others. I suggest try a Rom. Using it for a day or 2. Nand backup and then try another Rom. You might like how its setup or the features of the Rom.

I've been happy with Fresh roms, and like #2 poster said, which is the same thing I did was try out a few roms and determine which one you like.
Ditto. I stayed with CM6 after testing several roms.

Been on Calkulin's EViO ROMs for quite some time. I have Nand backups of Fresh and BS but I come back to EViO for 99% of my use.
So why Evio? Any specific perks?

How do you "disable" Sense? Do you mean the lock screen mod?
I'm guessing when you hit home and ask you to pick with launcher you want to use he checked to use the one certain launcher. Sense still runs in the background..

Get the pro version of titanium backup and you can freeze sense so it never runs.

Aosp dialer for sense roms

Has anyone managed to get the aosp dialer to work in a sense based rom. I know it was possible on the hero cause both of my roms supported it. I just updated from the hero and miss the dialer.
Im pretty sure I flashed a senselike rom last month that had aosp dialer, I remember a post asking him how he did it.
Ill go back and look for ya.

Swyped from a galaxy far far away......
Sweet...thanks. I can always go rip it out of that rom and resign it. Just wondering if it would work on a sense rom

stable sense 2.1?

Im looking for a very stable sense 2.1 rom with everything functional. 4g, adobe, all that good stuff, i was running sinister rls5, i love it, but my adobe kept force closing, and i dont know how to fix it, if anyone knows how to fix it let me know, or if theres a better sense 2.1 rom out there, before i went with sprint i had the thunderbolt on verizon, and i loved the stock setup of that phone, so im trying to go with a stock 2.1 gingerbread rom. any help is greatly appreciated.
Why not try sense 3.5? Most of them are stable now, and if not, 3.0 is an option.
I do like 3.0 & 3.5 but I can't seem to get the random lagginess to go away on my phone.
