Try checking out the OPs of the various roms out there over in the android development section. The devs usually get rid of as much bloatware as possible when making a rom, and they post what they got rid of in their change logs.
On a separate note, I highly recommend using root explorer and titanium backup to experiment on your own.

I use system app remove to delete system apps, but I am scared to go to crazy and get my phone to no longer boot...
I am coming to the DInc from having a rooted D1 since its release. So I do know my way around clockwork mod recovery and such... but I would love to find a list somewhere.

If you do a nandroid backup before you start removing stuff, you shouldn't be scared at all.
It's actually very difficult to brick your phone.

yeah I rooted last night with unrevoked. followed all the steps in a sticky from here yet today when I used rom manager to make a backup I got a solid black screen with 2 white stripes. I had to go back to the sticky and redo the second half. kinda scared the crap out of me .
but check with it I think I'm just going to start deleting things until I break my phone. I mean what could possibly go wrong right ?

Like I said before, most rom developers will try and remove as many unnecessary apps as possible to improve speed and efficiency.
I highly recommend reading virtuous rom's original post and then installing it to take it for a test spin. There is a built in app enabler/disabler that works in real time. It is also one of the overall best roms out there.

chris7os thanks, but I am looking for more custom to me style, as are I am sure several other people. I have tried several different ROM's I like several features that they have added. I have the paid version of launcher pro it just ahppens to be my favorite launcher. I was looking for a list that would tell me how much of the HTC and Verizon stuff I could remove and still have a functional phone. I have been using the trial and error method and i have almost got it to a point that i am happy with it. Again the virtuous, uncommon sense, sky raider vanilla and sense, are great but they are not mine.
Removed with no ill side-effects.

You can also use Titanium Backup to freeze apps, which will allow you to test for stability before removing without having to do a nandroid every time.
Since I am a relatively new user of xda-developers forums, I can't post in the development forum yet, so I'll put my question here. (A quick scan through the forums and a search didn't turn up what I wanted.)
I really like the CR Mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928250) for my Slide but even with putting apps on the SD card, I seem to be running out of space a lot. So, I can't keep as many apps as I would like on my phone. (It seems like I have a lot less room than I had with stock 2.1.) I even removed a couple of apks I knew I wouldn't use, but I didn't touch a lot of them because I didn't know what they do.
So, does anyone know what all of the apk's are for and are there any that are necessary for the phone to work properly? Or is there some sort of master list of apk's out there that say what they are and what they do?
Also, If you've decrapified your CR Mod before flashing, what did you remove, and how is it for you?
Or, is the decrapification not needed with ROM Manager and Dark Tremor's a2sd to move the dalvik cache?

you just have to play around and see what will break the rom and what wont. dont mess with the htcyaddayadda.apks or google.apks. im not sure which ones will break the rom, but most of those should be left alone

i think its is better to have a good running Rom for the first time.
Insertcoin is now running in my Desire since yesterday evening with S-On.
My First Question are :
- How i remove the LiveWallpaper (all) i dont need them
- How can i remove apps (in ES Strong FileExplorer i can only remove 2 apps)
- How can i cange the BootScreen to the nerd-herd one of UOT Kitchen
The most important for me is that i can remove this apps completly

Friendstream (i dont know if that really needed for the normal HTC contact)

You have to run eitherr 1.0.5 or 1.0.8 or v1.9b. But I guess, when the newer version (v1.9b) is supported, the older one (v1.9) also is. Just make nandroid backup before.

No, that is not possible. To remove apps from device directly you have to be s-off.

Just follow the how-to on uot kitchen step by step. And do not the forget the nandroid backup!!
Just download and install the newer version of google apps from market. The apk for a newer market can be found here on xda.
You can remove the apps you do not want from /system/app in the zip file before you flash it, yes. But you do not have to resign it. It still is.

When i remove this all and the sounds the zip is about 30 MB smaller than before
So i'm at home now:
First:
The cooking on UOT Kitchen was working fine -> now i have the bootlogo and battery Icon (i use the 1.0.8 of insertcoin)
Second:
After i 've post the apk list above, i think about the apps in data\app
all of this apps can i load from market so i think thats there all can be removed
Would You (all XDA User) mean its better to have this apps to begin of rom or later from market
It does not matter if you install the apps or later from market. The only advantage in the first case is, you have a cleaner rom when you flash(ed) it.
So the removing of the apps was simply (open winrar as admin) and put the rom into, then remove apps out of them
Now i have an insertcooin with 225MB instead of 280 MB and the newest market is incl.
after that flashed the rom
But now i have a bigger problem the lockscreen is never comes
After the screen goes off i push power to reactivate the screen
but instead of the lockscreen i see an blank screen with statusbar but no change to unlock the only what i can do is akku remove and starts again

I was looking for an alternate rom for my HTC Desire, because HTC fails so much with their Gingerbread update and fails much more with the customer friendly.
InsertCoin was for me the best rom that includes the HTC Sense, after the first day of using them i found a lot of apps thats unnecessary for me and i starts to build an new "light" version of this great rom.
The rom shrinks with my changes from 284 MB to 211 MB (size of the *.zip file). v1.1.4 S-On or S-Off and CWM >= 2.5.0.7
The size of shrink varies, by using other sound, boot-/downanimation and wallpapers, the size above its by my personal settings.

Open the rom.zip with winrar (started as admin) (any unzip tool is good) and remove, add or replace the files from zip.
The bootanimation can be comressed, but (it seems) the shutdownanimation can't be compressed.
When you want to change some files, you must extract them (e.g. drag&drop to Desktop) then take the modification and add the file back to the rom.zip (it will be overwrite the old one)
If you have done all modifications close winrar (or whatelse) and copy the rom.zip to the SD-card and flash the rom.

I can do this, i take some pictures (wallpaper, bootscreen, battery icon)
but i will say this first:
That should not be gives an official Rom, because all modifications need to do again when update the original InsertCoin. That means that i remove, change and modify all versions manual, so i hop that i can`t destroy some change of baadnewz

I'm in the process of creating my own rom I have moved a lot of the stock apps (listed below) and I would like to completely remove sense 2.1 and replace it and the applications with a different launcher such as go launcher can someone point me in the right direction or show me how to do this?

sorry for being rude, but maybe it will more easy for him if he know where the correct section is... (by give him a direction?)

glad to see another WS dev here...
First, ya gotta remove Rosie.apk (I notice you didn't) or else you'll always have Sense launcher available on the ROM.
Then, just copy your Go Launcher apk into /system/app (or /data/app). Do the same for all the custom apps you wanna include in the ROM! Don't forget to set permissions and you're all done.
If you want you can use launcher ex without deleting sense. Just mark it as default. If you still don't want to leave sense you can delete it or just start your rom with naked android or CM.

Do you have USB Debugging enabled? If so do adb shell ls /system/app and paste the output in code tags here (so it stays easy to read). I will tell you from there. I am making a list of what can/can't be removed.

I use this Music Player.
I like and use this Sense Clock better.
Always keep what you want I just gave a list of items that I removed without an issue.

Cammykool, I wouldn't remove anymore myself so that there would be a more Sense-like experience. However, you can remove all that Tera Tike did. However, you will not receive market updates of any kind if you do. There also may be some stability issues.
Remove them and see what happens.

look at that fior your guide its for the OV but should still apply
i went along with the guide to androidcentral i posed for critial android stuff and his i kept market updater and my swapped out vending.apk (play store) and ii dont use calider so i knocked it all off
deleting them all made no space diffrence unfortunetly

Sorry I was out for the day. It gave me about 60MB in system and after cleaning the /data/data/ folder I got about 121MB. When you manually remove an app it does not remove the data files or dalvik cache file, so you have to clear those manually as well to gain room.

With all those apps removed my observation I had no stability issues. You do receive market app updates but the market/vendor app will not update. But yes I did update the market to the latest version as well.
