Try checking out the OPs of the various roms out there over in the android development section. The devs usually get rid of as much bloatware as possible when making a rom, and they post what they got rid of in their change logs.
On a separate note, I highly recommend using root explorer and titanium backup to experiment on your own.

I use system app remove to delete system apps, but I am scared to go to crazy and get my phone to no longer boot...
I am coming to the DInc from having a rooted D1 since its release. So I do know my way around clockwork mod recovery and such... but I would love to find a list somewhere.

If you do a nandroid backup before you start removing stuff, you shouldn't be scared at all.
It's actually very difficult to brick your phone.

yeah I rooted last night with unrevoked. followed all the steps in a sticky from here yet today when I used rom manager to make a backup I got a solid black screen with 2 white stripes. I had to go back to the sticky and redo the second half. kinda scared the crap out of me .
but check with it I think I'm just going to start deleting things until I break my phone. I mean what could possibly go wrong right ?

Like I said before, most rom developers will try and remove as many unnecessary apps as possible to improve speed and efficiency.
I highly recommend reading virtuous rom's original post and then installing it to take it for a test spin. There is a built in app enabler/disabler that works in real time. It is also one of the overall best roms out there.

chris7os thanks, but I am looking for more custom to me style, as are I am sure several other people. I have tried several different ROM's I like several features that they have added. I have the paid version of launcher pro it just ahppens to be my favorite launcher. I was looking for a list that would tell me how much of the HTC and Verizon stuff I could remove and still have a functional phone. I have been using the trial and error method and i have almost got it to a point that i am happy with it. Again the virtuous, uncommon sense, sky raider vanilla and sense, are great but they are not mine.

Removed with no ill side-effects.

You can also use Titanium Backup to freeze apps, which will allow you to test for stability before removing without having to do a nandroid every time.

[Q] Decrapify CR Mod (what apk's aren't necessary?)

Since I am a relatively new user of xda-developers forums, I can't post in the development forum yet, so I'll put my question here. (A quick scan through the forums and a search didn't turn up what I wanted.)
I really like the CR Mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928250) for my Slide but even with putting apps on the SD card, I seem to be running out of space a lot. So, I can't keep as many apps as I would like on my phone. (It seems like I have a lot less room than I had with stock 2.1.) I even removed a couple of apks I knew I wouldn't use, but I didn't touch a lot of them because I didn't know what they do.
So, does anyone know what all of the apk's are for and are there any that are necessary for the phone to work properly? Or is there some sort of master list of apk's out there that say what they are and what they do?
Also, If you've decrapified your CR Mod before flashing, what did you remove, and how is it for you?
Or, is the decrapification not needed with ROM Manager and Dark Tremor's a2sd to move the dalvik cache?

you just have to play around and see what will break the rom and what wont. dont mess with the htcyaddayadda.apks or google.apks. im not sure which ones will break the rom, but most of those should be left alone

Deleting System Apps

i am running a sense 2.1 rom and i wanted to free up some internal memory.
Others may have asked this before but which system apps are safe to move from the root explorer(like facebook, and flickr)?

DO A BACKUP BEFORE YOU DELETE/MOVE ANY FILES!!
You have been warned!!!
You can move them to your microSD in case you want them back instead of deleting them.
Remember to wipe the Dalvik Cache and System Cache from CWM after removing them.
Here is the ones I was able to remove without adverse issues.

The wipe reestablishes the current apps and clears additional space that was used by the removed apps.
I gained 128MB after all those where removed, before installing any of my apps.
Personally after I removed those apps I did a factory reset.

That's a lot of stock apps you removed. The only app i removed is the "Stocks" app.

I found removing the following apps help performance and they are system loggers.

use es-file explorer , give it root perms , go to app manager , anf select the filter i guess to all , there you can delete any system app and the ES will automatically backup the system app you've deleted ...

I used Root Explorer, created a folder on my microSD card then moved the unwanted apps to that folder. Try to kill the app before moving it so not to get FCs while moving. You can do the in Setting -> Applications -> Manage application -> All.

do you think that it would be good to move apps that can be downloaded from the play store (like youtube, maps)
and then redownload them later from the store?

Or you can move them(newer version) into the system/app folder and removing the older version(first) to give you more room on the user data partition.

does removing the app still give me the same amount of free space as moving to sd?

Yes...but better to move for now in case you want it back for some reason.

[Q] Removing Sense and replacing

Hi all,
I'm in the process of creating my own rom I have moved a lot of the stock apps (listed below) and I would like to completely remove sense 2.1 and replace it and the applications with a different launcher such as go launcher can someone point me in the right direction or show me how to do this?

sorry for being rude, but maybe it will more easy for him if he know where the correct section is... (by give him a direction?)

glad to see another WS dev here...

First, ya gotta remove Rosie.apk (I notice you didn't) or else you'll always have Sense launcher available on the ROM.
Then, just copy your Go Launcher apk into /system/app (or /data/app). Do the same for all the custom apps you wanna include in the ROM! Don't forget to set permissions and you're all done.

If you want you can use launcher ex without deleting sense. Just mark it as default. If you still don't want to leave sense you can delete it or just start your rom with naked android or CM.
