[Q] do I need to install 'PB31IMG.zip' again after s-off - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have downgraded to stock 2.1 from the 8/1 leaked Froyo 2.2 rom. I'm now on version 2.1 Update1, and radio is downgraded to 1.00.03.04.06. (but still my hboot version is .79 - is there a problem with my hboot version being the same as before the downgrade?).
After downgrade I've rooted again with unrevoked and applied 'unrevoked forever' and attained s-off. Do I again need to install 'PB31IMG.zip' using clockwork recovery?
thanks and regards

can you please provide the link?
My bootloader is .80 and software number is 2.09.405.8
Radio version is 4.06.00.02_2
That radio is an old one so I'm guessing you're on a custom ROM at present...if you were on the proper FroYo ROM you'd have the same radio as me (see signature)

how can I update the radio? The radios I have found needs rooting before upgrading. and my froyo cannot be rooted.
If you're on FroYo you should be on the radio I'm on as 720p doesn't work with the old radio - which is why I asked if you're on a custom ROM. The new radio is on the OTA update and should be installed as part of the update
If you use an official update you will get the latest radio (5.09.00.20), the latest software (2.09.405.8) and the latest bootloader (0.92). It isn't currently possible to root this.
If you're running 1.x software (i.e. Android 2.1) you can root the phone and install a rooted Froyo ROM and the latest radio. This is the only way at the moment to have Froyo rooted.
If you have upgraded to Froyo without rooting and have a 4.x radio, something has gone wrong with your update.
thats what i did, rooted 2.1 then updated radio to froyo radio then used a stock but rooted 2.2 with hboot 0.80 from macado.

you are right. I upgraded to froyo without rooting and stuck with 4.x radio. the Rom is working fine except I cannot install any application from android market or from pc. what can I do now? even if I can go back to my 2.1 Rom, that will be fine with me. please help.
If you don't want to root then you can just apply the Froyo RUU:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...3.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
If your phone is branded you will need a goldcard for that to work.
Right, now we're getting somewhere!!
Where did you get the Desire in the first place? You'll need to find the RUU for the ROM your phone originally came with
All ROMs can be found here:

This Rom has worked. I created gold card and flashed the Rom.
Thanks a lot.

Can I root?

I updated my Desire to 2.2 when official Froyo came out, and now I would like to root and go for other ROMs, so my question is: Can i root? And which is the easiestway.
Thanks in advance
Downgrade hboot to 0.80 or 0.83 and then unrevoke it, voila, choose the rom you want

[Q] OTA?

Hi,
Coming from HTC Hero running VillainROM 1.7 it did not take long before my DHD was rooted. Did Radio S-OFF; wasn't quite ready for the ENG. I thought I'd flash the radio but that did not happen without ENG. So my strategy is to have a backup of the current ROM, do the OTA and then revert to my backup via Clockwork.
I hope my strategy is OK.... but where is the OTA??
Thor
There are some problems with your strategy buddy.
If you flash the ota you will loose the clockworkmod recovery. Since you can't root stock 1.72 then you won't be able to flash it back again either. Since you have radio s-off all is not lost. You can get root back by flashing back to the older 1.32 ruu and re rooting. When you flash that it will revert your radio back to the older one however.
If you want to update your radio and nothing else you don't have a choice but to get engineering hboot s-off.
Ok, found a tool for ENG S-OFF that I can risk
Radio update then and check improvement in stock ROM before going custom.

[Q] Upgrade HBoot from 2.02 to 2.10

I currently have HBoot 2.02 on my phone.
Rooted with Unrevoked 3.32 (so it has Unrevoked Forever on it)
I don't know if upgrading the HBoot is necessary or recomended, but if i want to upgrade to v2.10 do i have to UNroot first, or can i just flash it via .zip through Recovery???
Just flash it. Make sure that you have the latest from sprint.
I would HIGHLY recommend not updating your Hboot. There is NO reason to and it often causes a lot of issues.

Proper steps to updating HBOOT, radio, S-off, etc from stock 2.2 to prevent BRICK?

So long story short I've done all these to MY incredible several months ago starting at 2.1. I now run latest hboot, radio, s-off, blah blah with CM7. My friend has a stock 2.2 dInc and wants to do the same.
In what order should these be upgraded/installed to go from a stock 2.2 to CM7? I remember when I was upgrading all my files there were certain no-no's that would brick. I'd really like to prevent that.
Right now I'm thinking for his stock 2.2:
Root 2.2
Update HBOOT to .92
Update radio to latest (2.15?)
Perform S-off
Install CM7 rom
Will that work?
When you root it can run the s-off patch for you at the same time. Other than that everything else is fine, no worries.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
The newest version of Unrevoked3 installed Hboot .92 and did the S-off for me as well.
