can you please provide the link?
My bootloader is .80 and software number is 2.09.405.8
Radio version is 4.06.00.02_2
That radio is an old one so I'm guessing you're on a custom ROM at present...if you were on the proper FroYo ROM you'd have the same radio as me (see signature)

how can I update the radio? The radios I have found needs rooting before upgrading. and my froyo cannot be rooted.
If you're on FroYo you should be on the radio I'm on as 720p doesn't work with the old radio - which is why I asked if you're on a custom ROM. The new radio is on the OTA update and should be installed as part of the update
If you use an official update you will get the latest radio (5.09.00.20), the latest software (2.09.405.8) and the latest bootloader (0.92). It isn't currently possible to root this.
If you're running 1.x software (i.e. Android 2.1) you can root the phone and install a rooted Froyo ROM and the latest radio. This is the only way at the moment to have Froyo rooted.
If you have upgraded to Froyo without rooting and have a 4.x radio, something has gone wrong with your update.
thats what i did, rooted 2.1 then updated radio to froyo radio then used a stock but rooted 2.2 with hboot 0.80 from macado.

you are right. I upgraded to froyo without rooting and stuck with 4.x radio. the Rom is working fine except I cannot install any application from android market or from pc. what can I do now? even if I can go back to my 2.1 Rom, that will be fine with me. please help.
If you don't want to root then you can just apply the Froyo RUU:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...3.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
If your phone is branded you will need a goldcard for that to work.
Right, now we're getting somewhere!!
Where did you get the Desire in the first place? You'll need to find the RUU for the ROM your phone originally came with
All ROMs can be found here:

This Rom has worked. I created gold card and flashed the Rom.
Thanks a lot.

anybody now to downgrade 2.2 back to stock 2.1, i found som info but refers to the nexus 1. it advices to unlock the bootloader by flasing a .zip file (goto androidtechnical.info and get the passimg.passion_.zip file load it to your sd card root name it passimg.zip (just one zip ext) and flash wahla)
I was wondering if i can apply this to my EVO and be done with it?
just flash to 2.1 rom.
whats your reason?
Downgrading will only be possible once it has been determined how to root an unrooted 2.2 EVO. That is not possible, at-the-moment. We will just have to wait....
if you aren't rooted currently there is no way to downgrade or root 2.2.
so in short you are stuck at stock 2.2 until the amazing devs figure out a new bug to exploit to provide root.
but just to confirm, if i'm rooted since day 1(original 2.1 root) and i installed a rom from XDA(OMJ's 2.2 froyo) i can downgrade simply by installing his older 2.1 rom right?

Not sure if you can flash a 2.1 OMJ over a 2.2 OMJ (or similar) becasue I haven't done it ( I don't think you can), but if you run simple root again (or do Toastcfh's part 2 manually) and load the engineering build, you should be able to again flash a 2.1 to downgrade...Same idea as what you need to do to downgrade in order to flash a RUU if you have to send your phone back for any reason...

i tryed that, Froyo locked up my bootloader. I have too many issues with 2.2 for my taste. I want to go back to a rooted 2.1 and flash a custom Froyo Rom

yes! this is what I want to be able to do. having an original 2.1 root allows you to flash any ROM Sprint Stock or ortherwise, its almost like changing skins but your base never changes. The only time things change permanently is when you do an UPDATE. Doing an UPGRADE only brings the eye-candy that only a custom ROM can provide.
Hi everyone,
I've just got a brand new Desire from O2 Ireland (branded) with HBOOT version 0.83. I tried to root the device using unrEVOked. It partially worked...
I have superuser permissions on my apps menu. However, I can't get into recovery. When I try to get into recovery, the screen just goes black.
I believe this may be something to do with possibly having a new SLCD screen, which causes black screens.
Does anyone know if it's possible to root this new HBOOT 0.83 phone? Can I install a recovery that works, or at the very least revert to stock recovery?
And if it's not possible to root at all, can I upgrade to stock android 2.2. (O2 Ireland haven't released the update yet; checking for updates in the phone results in it saying there are no updates available, even thought the phone is running Android 2.1)
Thanks in advance for any help.
unrevoked doesn't really support hboot 0.83, as you have found.
You cannot recover to stock O2 firmware because there is no available RUU recent enough for SLCD phones. You will need to use this RUU with a goldcard:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...1.00.32U_4.08.00.09_release_137222_signed.exe
From this you can upgrade to stock FroYo OTA.
Unrevoked works with 0.83 + 2.1 just fine, after you root the only problem is that the recovery screen is black. The recovery is working, the only problem is that the kernel in it doesn't support the SLCD.
I have patched the recovery with the latest version of teamdesire's kernel and it works fine on SLCD devices. You can find it here: http://crop.floodbit.org/~defer/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-bravo-slcd.img
It is flashable with unrevoked.
EDIT: this is a temporary fix until koush updates the kernel in recovery.
Yeah, I meant to say SLCD phones not 0.83 hboot.
Thanks for the quick response guys
I just tried installing that new recovery and it seems to work perfectly! Thank you so much!

Any advice will lead to a cyberpint for you
I have downgraded to stock 2.1 from the 8/1 leaked Froyo 2.2 rom. I'm now on version 2.1 Update1, and radio is downgraded to 1.00.03.04.06. (but still my hboot version is .79 - is there a problem with my hboot version being the same as before the downgrade?).
After downgrade I've rooted again with unrevoked and applied 'unrevoked forever' and attained s-off. Do I again need to install 'PB31IMG.zip' using clockwork recovery?
thanks and regards

Received a new DHD and looking to put the MIUI custom rom on it.
I've been reading about and its not quite the same as rooting my old HTC HERO. I've looked around and currently my orange is
Baseband 12.27b
Kernel 2.6.32
Build 1.40.61
Software 1.40

Can I go ahead and follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537 to S-off and install clockwork + custom rom?
I dont have to create a goldcard or anything?
yes I think you can do it just installing visionary+, if this doesn't work try to download and utilize a stock rom with 1.15 o 1.32 version. If both of them doesn't work... do a goldcard.
I want to update my HTC Desire (AMOLED) with the current hboot of 0.75.
For revolutionary I need a hboot of 0.93. So, what's the best way to do it? I can't find a good tutorial. Can I simply download the hboot image from anywhere and flash it via CWM 2.x?
Is the current ROM safe or have I to reinstall it?
Thanks!

Use alpharev and follow the instructions there.
It is recommended that you return to rooted stock ROM before you S-OFF but it is not essential (I didn't).

Most roms wont work. Its certainly safest and best practice.
Thanks for reply!
Today I installed a prerooted stock froyo rom, but Alpharev won't work. Here's the error.
Is there another simple way to update the hboot to 0.93 so I can use revolutionary?
I believe you can flash the official Gingerbread rom found on HTCdev site. This will upgrade your rom to Gingerbread as well as your hboot. Then use revolutionary to s-off.

I'm still paranoid about that piece of crap. Please don't, just use a stock 2.2 RUU, anyone you want if you have a goldcard (preferably 2.2)
you can try alpharev
