Soo i am running the latest cm6 nightly with snap 7.11 and i like to use sprint vvm, well actually i would prefer to use google voice but it wont work on sprint. everything was working okay, until i actually got a voicemail. now the the cm6 sms voicemail thing (the 9016 # the texts you when you have a new message) wont stop sending me message every 5 minutes saying some random series of #'s and letters or sometimes websites or pretty much anything has sent me a new voicemail... it is really annoying. i even tried uninstalling vvm (which seemed to be working fine) and it did not help.
So my question is: How do i fix this or disable the sms vm program that runs in CM6?

Hello,
I am running CM7 RC2 on my Evo. I was recently informed by my girlfriend that my phone has her blocked and always rolls her into voicemail. Upon further inspection and testing, I found that my phone actually rolls EVERYONE into voicemail.
I can make calls and receive texts just fine. No issues there. I do not have google voice installed on my phone currently (thought that might have been the issue), but I did before. I have google voice setup to transcribe my voicemails, and whenever someone does leave me message, Google still sends me the voicemail in a text message.
I have Dialer One as my main phone application. The stock CM7 Phone app is also still installed.
Calls do not show up nor light my screen nor play my ring tone at all when someone is calling me. INTERESTING SIDE NOTE: Dialer One does seem to record the calls in my call log (not sure about the Stock Phone App)...
Any ideas? Is this some sort of Phone/Dialer One incompatibility issue?? I know that it used to work, and honestly im not sure how long the functionality has been broken (i rarely receive calls anyways..)
Have you tried re-flashing the rom with the latest gapps?
maybe not "re" flashing the rom with the latest gapps, but when CM7 RC2 was released, I did download the latest gapps and flash that and that was only about a week or so ago.
(was having issues getting the phone to boot without it)
I suppose ill try it again right now, but if im not mistaken, the problem persisted before RC2
Well i haven't heard of this exact problem, but I do know some people had dialer wake lock issues.
i feel stupid now. All i needed to do was reinstall CM7 with gapps and then do the Titanium "Restore Missing Apps + Data" Instead of "Restore Missing Apps + System Data"... Thats all it was
Thanks!!
So, I did the GPS fix on June 21st with the ##code# and the msl code. After that, my parents said they sent a text, but I haven't gotten it. Most people use my google voice number, but a few have the old sprint number.
Anyway, I can send a text. I just don't receive a text message. I booted in a march cm6 backup and couldn't get text messsages that way either. Could send, just not receive. I can make and receive calls, and voicemails go to my google voice number.
I have a stock sense backup from december that I can boot into, but am getting tired of rebooting.
Any suggestions. Open for just about anything.
I decided to do a 786 reset, and it cannot update my profile. I am hoping that is because i have a triangle above my wireless signal. Kinda out in bfe as of right now.
My messages will randomly go to google voice instead of messages. That could be a problem as well.

I had this problem yesterday after a fresh flash of CM7.1, and stumbled upon the answer. I wasn't receiving text messages in Messaging OR Handcent SMS - and I have my sprint number ported over to Google Voice. I went over to the Voice app and went to Settings>Sync and Notifications and made sure that Text Message Notification was selected. When I did, the SMS messages going to GV went to my messaging apps too.
Conversely, you could just use GV as your messaging app...

This works like a charm. I am going to post this link in a couple of other places where people are running down CM. Double Thanks!
The problem I've been having seems to have been asked a lot of times in several forums, but rarely answered directly. It had nothing to do with Google Voice, the ROM (I use SRF 1.2). I had to look through so many of these before FINALLY finding the very easy answer so I thought I'd post it here in case it helps someone else.
The issue is that I started receiving a weird text message from Sprint indicating, "...has sent you a Sprint Voice Message. Call 408-970-0000 to listen...". I wasn't receiving any voicemail notification, though, and voicemails weren't showing up in Visual Voicemail. When I finally called into voicemail, I realized I had several waiting for me -- ones I never realized I had because there was no notification!
What it turns out is that this problem is apparently almost always caused by changing the SMS application. In my case, I had installed Handcent. To fix this in Handcent, just go to menu->settings->Application Settings->Default Messaging application, and select "Disable". (In my case it was set to SMS.)
After I made that change, all of a sudden I started receiving notifications, all of my older messages finally appeared in Visual Voicemail, and I stopped receiving those strange Sprint texts.
If you use GO SMS, I understand there is a similar way to disable setting the GO SMS as default as well.

Yeah, I'm using GoSMS Pro for text messages and was getting the exact same thing with the same 408 number. I backed up my texts and settings and un-installed GoSMS, rebooted the phone, but still had to "call in" to voicemail (old school voicemail, not visual) but I think from here on out, I should get visual voicemail normally again. We'll see.
Thanks for posting!
I just recently flashed to cm11 nightly 12-13 on Friday from stock 4.3. Things have been working fine except for a few issues:
1.) Every time I try to access the carrier settings, I run into com.android.phone has stopped.
2.) I no longer have a voicemail app, and am getting 9016 apps asking to call a number for voicemail.

You can try to blacklist 9016 texts, doesn't work for me, and if you block it totally, VVM will not work at all, VVM is supposed to intercept those messages and convert those messages to visual voicemail. Blacklist under text app used to block them, but still allow vvm to receive them. Doesn't seem to work on any cm11 ROM I've tried. You can try that newer vvm app, but I don't think its gonna fix the dreaded 9016 issue.

I am not 100% sure if it's a configuration issue or a ROM issue. I don't get that many voicemails so I don't know exactly when the problem started (I install about every other nightly - currently running 8/1).
Problem - when someone leaves me a VM, instead of getting the icon alert on the top I get an sms. When I delete the VM or listen to it, I get another SMS. The SMS for new VM looks like this
//VZWVVM.SYNC:ev=NM;id=7;c=1;t=v;s=<phone number of the caller here>;dt=03/08/2015 10:30 -0700;l=9;dev_t=5
The sms for the deleted or listened message looks like this
//VZWVVM.SYNC:ev=MBU;dev_t=5
Any thoughts or ideas as to what could be the cause of this and how to fix it??? It is somewhat annoying.

I too had this issue when running any ROM other than stock ROMs; I came across your post searching for a solution. When I was running CM12.1, I started using a 3rd party for voicemail. There is an app in the Play Store that will redirect your voicemail forwarding number. It was okay and I ended up switching back to stock for the camera.
I'm interested in going back to non-stock, so if anyone has a fix, that'd be great.
