Exchange mail problems
I've never been able to set correctly my exchange mail. Do not know if this is related to a problem with HTC's implementation or to my (poor) knowledge of it.
I set it correctly and can receive/send mails but after some time, say 1 week, it is not able to sync anymore even though the settings are correct. Yours the same issue?

I noticed this morning that my phone is notifying me when I receive an email via the stock email application on my HTC Desire.
I've got sound and LED for SMS/MMS/Gmail etc, but not email. It's downloading them without me prompting it, but just not telling me when I've got one. Desire is running 2.1, anyone know of a fix?
Thanks
Notifications are set to LED and Sound - still no sound or LED. I've even done a factory reset, nothing.
Now It's not even checking for mail on its own.

I'm confused. Does it notify you, or does it NOT notify you? Have you checked & re-checked the settings, both from Settings > Sound and Mail app > Settings?
App settings are set to 'email notifications on and sound notifications on' and led in sound settings is on too. It doesn't make a noise or flash the led when I receive a email.

Go to Mail (or Gmail) > Menu > Settings, then check all the settings (incl Select ringtone, as it might be set to Silent).
Gmail notifications are working, I'm talking about the 'mail' app. There is no ringtone setting in there + notifications are all set to on.
It was working fine the other day, no settings were changed and then it just stopped.

So I contacted HTC on Friday night regarding my 'problem' and I've received two emails from them saying:
"It could be a driver issue... hard reset the phone or send it back to us.."
and another one saying
"It could be a software issue... hard reset the phone or send it back to us.."
I'm not sending my phone anywhere, I don't think I could go the day without my phone. Surely someone knows of a fix which doesn't require me flashing my phone?
Strangely enough it's started notifying me when I get a email now. I changed no settings or anything. My phone clearly went on strike for the weekend.
I have the exact same issue.
I contacted HTC who said it could be a task killer ending the email application but i tried that and still my emails will not receive unless i manually send and recieve them.
it seems odd that every now and then it works perfectly then just stops without me doing anything.
Very annoying, if you find a cure please let me know
Mine's back to normal now. I did absolutely nothing either. No task killer installed.
Is there any more news on this? My emails have stopped and so has my gf using HTC Magic.
Any other news from HTC?

I contacted HTC and they said it could be a driver issue or a software issue, and if a factory reset didn't resolve it the device should be sent to them for repair.
I had a friend who had this problem at the same time as mine, and his randomly started working again at the same time as mine.
Im sure when I was messing around with my app that it is set to notify me monday to friday 9-5 and not to notify me after that or at the weekend, Can't confirm this as, well my phone is with HTC
Mine is set to send and recieve between 10am and 10pm 7 days.
I still have to manually recieve them and still cannot send any emails.
I am waiting for a response from HTC

The only email account that gets automatically synced is your primary Google account. Hotmail relies on POP3 technology and as such is what is known as 'push email' i.e. you have to physically tap on the email app for it to check the server. Hope this makes it clearer.
Mine never worked, but I don't care as I use the gmail notifier widget.

Hi
I just noticed that HTC news app (and widget) doesn't automatically sync at set intervals.
Also, if I go to Settings - Accounts & Sync and I want to add news account to sync, when I tap it nothing happens.
Anybody else having this problem, or some suggestions to what might be wrong?
Cheers
I did a factory reset on my phone and never had a problem since. I know its not ideal but at least it works

Yes, afraid that is the only way
Damn! 2 or 3 weeks ago I had the wireless not working after latest OTA, sorted now now but I had to start from scratch. Not again...
Isn't there some clever abd command to sort this? I can sync manually...

Hey guys,
For those that are using GTalk regularly, do you have this issue same as me:?
-When I didn't use for quite sometime as in didn't open the GTalk application for sometime, and when I open, it will show connecting and when connected, then I will receive msges from my contacts, which means the msges got delayed. My phone reception is good, no dropping of connection or whatsoever.
Any ideas to this?
Yep. I've had the same issue for a while, no resolve.

I see. Anyone having the same problem?
The only issue with Gtalk I had was when I installed Skype. Had to uninstall Skype to get Gtalk to work. Tried it two times just to make sure. It definitely was Skype fault.

Update. It wasn't Skype fault. Noticed today, as soon as low memory warning comes up Gtalk stops working. Not going to call HTC over that as my phone is going in for MB change anyway.

Hey,
I've currently got both the Facebook app and Facebook for HTC Sense set to sync with my phonebook. The problem being that with a lot of my contacts, something in the sync sets the phone number without the leading zero or leading "+" in the country code rendering the entry invalid to use. Which is a huge pain in the arse un-linking contacts in order to use the original entry.
Does anyone else get this problem? Is it the Facebook app, Facebook for Sense, or both? Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
Frank.

I would love to know how to fix this, it's really annoying.

I think its a problem on Facebooks end. If you check a friends profile on the normal website you'll see the number doesn't have a + or 0 of whatever needed!
I'd also only sync Facebook for HTC sense or Facebook for Android with your contacts. Not both! There's no point in doing it + it'll use some battery syncing both.

Hi, I have a Windows Live account that I added onto my GS2 but my mail's not showing up. Anyone else having similar issues? The GMail app work fine, and the default mail app added my account ok, detected the incoming and outgoing fine, which I checked numerous times. I just can't figure out why it's not showing my mail. When I hit refresh it attempts to sync and just says there's no mail; number just shows up as 0, which is definitely not accurate. My Sensation and other android phones in the past worked fine in the mail app, and I even tried playing around with different ports.
Anyone help would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone?

Happens occasionally for me, but eventually works.
+1 for me using a SBCGLOBAL.NET account. Very annoying that it does not seem to see any emails for a while, then occasionally one will come in?! Will K9 work any better? Or the Yahoo mail app? Anyone have experience with other email apps?
Thanks!
Wingmann
There is an app called 'hot email'.
I had the same issue so i searched for an app...of course not that i found one, the stock app is working, but hot email is better
