[Q] Unable to get cupcake on my phone - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I am using a Rogers HTC Magic 32A phone. I am trying to upgrade using the cyanogen mod RC2. As far as I understand, I need to go back to cupcake and use sapphire recovery in order to do this. When I try and use the RUU to flash my phone it will always tell me that my phone is not connected to the computer even though it is (I am able to transfer files and connect to Sync). This occurs on more than one computer.
I have gone through and tried one of the 'universal root' steps, I was able to root my phone no problem, but when I attempt to use flashrec to backup recovery image I get the error "Backup FAILED: Could not run command.".
I am not sure what else I can do. I have tried various unlocker steps, each have failed.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

What you're doing wrong is posting this is the EVO section...

Thread of the century

lol lol I can't wait to see the responses to this. *grabs popcorn*

Also, doesn't this belong in Q&A, not Development?

oh geez...i swear im not usually this noobish. i created this post in the wrong tab.
Is there any way for me to move this over to the appropriate section?

Dude,I'll tell you this way.
By what you are writing it's like you were on a big journey,ok?You are headed to New York to see somebody.Well, let's say you just ended up trying to find your way in Kabul!
Sorry about the sarcasm and irony, couldn't resist!

I want android 1.0 on my EVO.

cupcake is tasty and the x10 and the streak still running it.

What you should do now is edit the op to something totally relevant and on point, and confuse the hell out of people reading the thread.

Going from one Rom no the next version

Ok, I've looked are and can't find this anywhere. Sorry if its a super noob question, but if I'm running one version of a Rom like bugless v .02 and he comes out with another newer version like .03. Do I have to completely wipe my phone again to upgrade? Or is their another way I can load the new version or switch to a different Rom without having to redownload all my apps again and arrange my whole home screens again?
Thanks for anyone who answers this. You guys are all life savers for all of us newbies.

Generally in the same family if roms you do not need to wipe. If things start acting stupid it may brr necessary to wipe and re flash.
Y canou also buy a program like mybackup pro to ease the reinstall pain.

ALWAYS do a full wipe, unless informed by the dev otherwise. NEVER flash two different ROMS over each other. If you want to look around and get a feel for different ROMS but would hate the headache of flashing a ROM that you didn't like, only to have to flash your go-to ROM after and have to download all your apps and set up everything to your liking all over again, then do a nandroid backup.
always full wipe, less problems later...

this is a question thread. where should it have been posted? the Q&A or the Development section?! questions need to be posted either in the thread that they pertain to, or the Q&A section. not the development section.

And thanks to everyone who answered my question, it helps a lot.

A search is probably how he found the forum in the first place albeit Google...
Please realize that a person with 1 post does not have an instruction booklet to this site you have posted over 1200 times and I sure at lest one of them could have been better placed or asked and already answered question.
Knowing where to post only comes with time and use of these boards.... the OP didn't injury anyone with his question, did he?

I would agree with you if there wasn't a nice big search button at the top of the page.

Root problem with official RUU

I searched for this problem and it seems DHD and Wildfire S have this problem too.
I updated my desire to 2.3 with official Ruu from developer.HTC.com and I can't root with unrevoked 3.... The solution for DHD and WS was downgrading , but I didn't see any tutorial for Desire downgrading from 2.3 to 2.2

Entschuldigung.
I didn't see it really. Mods delete this thread and ban me
that's because there isn't one and if you actually BOTHERED to look, you would find AT LEAST 7-10 different posts about pretty much the same issue. Stop spamming with this sh*t!!!!
It is annoying to see so many threads made on this topic.. but wouldnt it help if one is stickied somewhere to give those blind bats a chance of spotting it?

Good idea, however, won't work. We had it stickied in the HTC Inc forum once upon a time. A 2.2 OTA update (I believe it was 2.2.1 at the time) came out, and blocked the exploit that Unrevoked used to get root. This was then followed by at least ONE full page of "Why can't I get root?! You OWE this to me!! What the F is taking sooo long!" threads...
In that instance, obviously no one knew that the update would block the root exploit. So it took a long, grueling, five days for Unrevoked to update/test/release their product.
This then got us right back to the threads of "Help me I bricked my device and I don't know what I am doing HELP!" threads, back to normal I guess.

i know that, some tutors maybe?
Connect me via a remote desktop and I'll do it for you.
Seriously, as MatDrOiD said, this question isasked everyday...... and twice.
All you need to know - is on the Revolutionary.io's page. My friend without proper knowledge about Android modifications was able to do it from the information on the site, then you'll be able, too.

[Q] Google Wallet "Hardware Not Supported" Error After Zip to APK

Hey guys I posted this in Galaxy Nexus App's subsection but I realize it was in the wrong place, so I re posted it here which I hope is the "proper" section.
I'm really sorry about this guys I know how much you hate people asking stupid questions but I really cant find the answer to this.
Hey everyone, hope someone can help me out, I've spent hours researching but this is one of those problems where I can't seem to find anyone with the same problem; basically I installed wallet using the old ZIP method, after removing it I found out I had to change files to be able to install the new APK method so I followed those instructions on this thread however I am not getting a weird error saying
"Hardware Not Supported"
"Sorry, this device is not yet supported. We are working too add support. Please check Market later for Updates."
Is anyone else having this problem or am I the only one?
EDIT: Just realized I posted this in the wrong place. Can Mod's move or delete this and I'll create another one in Q&A?
Should I just used the Zip method again, the main reason I wanted to switch is that I'm not sure if that method received updates.

Are you rooted? A new update to Google Wallet made rooted devices display some sort of incompatible message (don't ask me though since I haven't tried Google Wallet myself, I've just heard and seen threads about it).
Device incompatibility banner at the top?
You're fine.
This shows up on all rooted phones.
Also, I'd uninstall...and install it by scanning this!

You'll get market updates.
Search and read before opening ANOTHER thread about this!! There are 4 new threads a week asking the same questions about Google Wallet that have been answered a long time ago! This is getting ridiculous.
