Galaxy S DXJG4 no download mode no ADB download mode - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

Hey guy i i have a SGS with version DXJG4 and this device dont have donload mode 3 buttons do not work and also do not work ADB reboot downloader
the device just start up and thats it.
Only i can get root with the universal ADB tool so super user i have it.
I can put the device in recovery mode with ADB thats it and can use update.zip.
I also try to flash a back up update.zip XXDj3 but that flash only PDA and CSC not the PHONE part after reboot still phone DXJG4
So can anyone help to activate downloader mode i think is disable.
If not i will return the device and try to get new one.

Have same problem here, my sis SGS bought fr singtel, 3 button download mode cant activate, I have no problem on my Maxis SGS unit. Any guru pls help!

"ADB reboot download", not "ADB reboot downloader"....no "er" at the end
My SGS shipped with .....JG4, no hardware method as well. I used to turn the USB mode into debug mode for safty

weird. i'm able to flash mine as per normal. same set from singtel too. maybe try a factory reset / cache wipe first? that's the only different thing i did i believe.

try this solution
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754673&page=3

My set is from Singapore too, i had no problems going into download mode. My firmware before i flashed was DXJG4 also.

Mine also don't have 3-button combo.
But i can get into download mode via adb (adb reboot download).

So singapore users are also getting Bell type phones? Interesting.

Same Problem here
from Australia Optus

Turn off
Remove battery
Wait
Put it back
Press vol down + home + power
Fixed ^^

I spoke to samsung yesterday and they said that the new firmware would enable it after they release a,new version of kies with the drivers, installed.

I honestly doubt that. The recovery option seems to be independent of firmware... unless if there's a software lock blocking it.

I can only say what they said when I spoke to them, she also said that the test bed phone they had been using didnt have the 3 button combo and after the update it did work.

when is this supposed update due out??

From what I understand within 2 weeks or so

We should all know the relationship between singtel and optus.
Anyway samsung australia said there would be no fix.

I'm on DXJG4 and I can enter download mode.

As said the service department said there would be when I called on thursday

We'll just to wait and see won't we. I want to be wrong .

It makex sense for them to fix it, it means any bad flash's can be fixed in store and not have to send them off

bell Recovery mode trick

1. download and open odin 4.03
2. With oden 4.03 running connect the phone
3. remove battery
4. hold volume- home and power while inserting the battery
5. smile you should be in recovery
(worked for we with a bell phone with 3 button disabled with the connect to computer screen)
getting into recovery mode isn't hard -- you can use ADB tools and it's MUCH easier
the problem is getting into download mode -- I was told these are different ?
You can go into download mode with adb too or something similar, i'll try to find the link when i get to my desktop

Can those who have 3 button disable try wht the OP suggested ? I dont understand wht u 2 are talking about :S
Yes getting into recovery/download is easy w/o 3 button when u have a working firmware, its when u don't u end up a with a $600 brick. If what OP says is true, it should allow u 2 enter recovery/download even in a situation like the one previously described.
Wow - if this works it could really help a lot of folks out... anybody without 3-button recovery want to try this?

Tried the procedure described but no luck at all (at least with my phone). Thanks for the trick though.
I'm already sick and tired of having to cross my fingers every time I flash a firmware via ODIN, knowing that I only have one shot to get it right.
Assuming if this procedure works, will the phone be able to get into recovery mode the next time without connecting to Odin?
If it doesn't, the phone is still going to be a brick when it fails to boot.
anyone got link for Odin4?
i'm still using Odin3
I tried this also. Doesn´t work for me.
Seems rather pointless plugging it in to Odin if the computer cannot recognize the phone, if it could...then we wouldn´t have a problem to begin with.

Bricked Ace2 when trying update 4.1.2. Plz help.

Hello.
I've tried to update from leak 4.1.2 to final version but bricked the phone. Everything went well until restart. Progress bar in recovery went to the end, odin told that it's finished and it restarts the headset (green square) but the phone did not started.
Battery is OK, the phone does not start in normal mode nor in recovery ( +vol- +home +power) however, when i try to run recovery and the USB cable is plugged, my PC says that new device is found ("u8500 usb rom")
Odin dont see the phone.
Is there something that may help?
EDIT: ok, I found that in most cases only sending the phone to retailer will help. Please, anyone know if after they reflash the board they will know that I flashed the phone in past? (flash counter was "2" )
Can u enter the download mode and try a reflash? I got the same Problem with my first ace 2. Under jellybean the touchscreen did not work anymore and gingerbread wasnt able to Boot (downgrading and upgrading With pit file worked a lot of times before). Then i tried „heimdall" (an alternative To Odin) and.... Totally bricked my phone... No download mode Or something and the phone wasnt able to turn on. But Samsung gave me a New phone and because the download mode didnt work they couldnt check the flash counter....

Found several methods to unbrick. Quite cheap (first 2 $ jig second 20$ jtag). My man at Samsung says that it is possible to read flash counter even at hard-brick state so Sammy service is a last resort
Will update if it works
They can check flash counter when phone is hard brick? Put cable from wall into ace 2 usb port - you burn it. Then they cant check.

Hi, I had also hard bricked my phone some weeks ago. You can read it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39350626#post39350626
Now is my phone back, 100% working. I was very surprised, the flash counter was still saying "2". Probably, they have no time to check it. Or for service station is it OK to have more business. I did not pay any money.

[Q] can't use recovery mode.

Hello my friends.
I got a Galaxy Note II here - but my sister decided to play with it and now its locked on the 'too many wrong patterns screen'.
To make things even worst i haven't associated it with a google account (i recently bought it from a friend of mine).
When i try to hard-reset it the phone goes to the famous android logo with red exclamation - i think he rooted the phone and didn't told me.
Anyway when i get on this screen if i press the 'back' key on the phone i can access the 'Android System Recovery' - but i can't select any option.
I know i should use vol up/down to scrool betweeen options and power to select - but i press power and nothing happens.
Tried also pressing the menu button - nothing happened also.
Another problem is, for some reason i don't know the phone won't connect to my computer - only in charge mode.
Tried tons of things lots of times but it isn't showing up no matter what i do.
I tried also to call me from another phone and get in any menu - but when i do that i can only select normal options (send an sms, refuse call, accept).
I would like to hear suggestions from you guys since i've ran out of resources - i don't know what else i can do in order to recover the phone.
Thanks in advance
additional note: i just know its model is i9220+
It accepts WCDMA and a GSM SIM.
Pablo
oh yeah

This is what i want.
But my computer do not detect the phone so i can't go into download mode.
I don't have anything important there - not worried about what is on its memory.
like i said when i plug the phone into the computer it only starts charging and nothing more.
is there 'any trick' i can try heh ?
ps: i installed kies, uinstalled, installed samsung usb drivers, installed, etc...well what i mean is that i tried most of those tricks to get the phone detected but no success - maybe flashing directly from my SD ?
also - i 'suspect' my phone is that n7100 . since i don't have its manual and can't access its menu either i just suspect because its from brazil and those n7100 models are like 'international'.

ok from how you are explaining stuff I'm not sure if you understand the flashing procedure thoroughly and risk involved
1. flashing can be risky
2. you need to download Odin example version 1.8
3. when your phone just powers on you need to know the EXACT model number example N7105 or N7100 or any other version..this is very important as if you flash a wrong firmware you could destroy your phone completely
4. find a stock ROM for your phone on xda or at samfirmware.com
5. install Samsung drivers or install Samsung kies but while Odin is on Samsung kies services must be closed
6. keep your phone in download mode by switching off your phone then HOLD CENTER/HOME BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN + POWER BUTTON
7. your phone may warn you and I believe may ask you to press volume up button to continue
8. then you are now in download mode.
9.open Odin
10. connect your phone to your pc via USB cable..give it time to register/install itself as a new hardware..etc etc as you may see new hardware detected pop up if running on Windows
10. a yellow COM port will appear on Odin showing the phone is connected
11. place the stock ROM file on the PDA section UNTICK REPARTITION , TICK REBOOT
12. this should flash your phone....however my procedure is a vague way of how to go about it... you may need to see a detailed step by step procedure on XDA if you are new to this.
I take no responsibility for any damages...I hope you almost everything we do here on XDA had risks involved
or the safer option take to a Samsung repair center!!

To get into download mode all you need to do is turn of the phone and hold power home volume down until you see the warning sign.

Put device on download mod and tell us what information it displays
You need not to connect device with PC to get downbload mode. Do this.
Vol Down + Home + Power
then vol up in warning screen to finally get download mod.

Okay
when i put the device into download mode (vol down + home + power) - it goes to a 'factory mode'
then options i have here are:
Full Test
Item Test
Test Report
Clear eMMC
Version
Reboot
And i can't choose any of 'em , no matter what i press.
Same happens when i go into recovery mode.
For getting into recovery o mode i i press the following combination: vol up + home + power
Then i get the android logo when a red exclamation - but when i press the 'back' button i can get into the "Android System Recovery <3e>", where i have the following options:
Reboot System Now
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
and same thing - i can't select any of 'em - no matter what button combination i press.
I tried plugging the phone into three computers none of 'em detected the phone.
Sometimes after many power on/off the computer detects it but instantly loses also - its something very quickly.
I can't get into any of the menus of the phone since i'm stuck in the 'too many wrong patterns' screen and i have no associated google account.
Also when i plug the phone in the pattern screen the only thing it says its about charging - nothing about plug in usb or anything like that.
I'm a bit used with flashing (did it a lot on my RAZR XT910) and i know all risks.
I've also found out my note ii is model GT-N7100 (this is the one sold in brazil) - i couldn't get its manual but my bet is going to be this - samsung service center won't repair the phone without the fiscal coupon .
I'll try more and keep this post update - but if anyone got an hint about this just tell me
Thanks in advance
Pablo
Your device seems to be clone one and not original N7100.
Have you purchased from authorized centre?

Your device is not a Samsung phone, you said as much in your first post.
Asking us to help is pointless, you need to talk to other clone owners and see what they have done.

Oh okay.
I tought it also but wasn't sure.
I'm really sorry for taking your time
It was looking like Samsung because of its back
There's an stick with:
MODEL: i9220+
FCC ID: A3L SHI9220+
For information call: 1 888 987 4357
Bluetooth
CE01688
IMEI
and Made in Korea
There are also entries to:
WCDMA SIM
GSM SIM
and SD Card
But when i power it on there's nothing related to Samsung in fact - i never get anything related to Samsung.
Only android logo like a rocket.
It seems to be running an android 4.1 because of the interface
Anyway i'll see what i can do and thanks in advance for all the help
Again, sorry for taking your time.

EDIT:
A Thhread talking about my phone:

I'll keep searching information around XDA and google.
Again, thanks in advance

[Q] rooted Note 2 L900 rom issue

I just got the Galaxy note 2 L900. It is rooted and modified for international using. It works perfect and I was about to explore the Jelly bean 4.2.2 several times but later the battery felt out (phone has no back cover). I inserted the battery back and booted but it only started then stopped at xiaomi.com logo and the phone was frozen as brick with no control at all.
So how could I recover the custom ROM. I have never done this and I really need help. Thank you you all.
Are you able to get the device into Download mode? When turning the device on hold the power button, vol down, and the home button and the device should enter download mode.

Thank you. I did this before I posted this matter but the question is which files I need to download and where I can find these files? Is is in the phone already? as I said I have never done this before.
If you can get into Download mode you can ODIN any ROM you would like to the device and fix the not booting problem. You can re-flash the ROM you were using if you choose. You would need to find an ODIN tar file to use this option to get your device working again.

Thanks again for your reply. It must be easier for me if I do the rooting or flashing of this phone from the beginning. I would read and following instruction step by step but right now it likes I am right in the middle of the jungle and really don't know where I should start. I looked for "ODIN tar file" and one link lead me to download the "odin multi downloader v3 95 exe.rar" but I found in here many files to download and one of these files is "Root mobile ODIN Pro v3 65 full" is the only file close to what I am looking for but I am not sure this is the file I need. I really needed help on this matter. You are the only one who replied my question and I believe that you can help. I wonder that you could text and help me through this matter. I would appreciate this. Thank you again

Send me the service provider you use and I will see if I can find an ODIN flashable ROM for your device. I can link you to the download and we can go from there. The first part though is finding a flashable image.

I have no idea. This phone has bad ESN and was modified for international using so it has a SIM card port now for GSM network (that the seller told me). I just have this phone in 2 day only and as I said I just played with in about 1 hours to see what options the phone could provide before the battery felt out issue. I not sure it can be use with ATT or Tmobile when it has bad ESN. I didn't tried it. I bought it on ebay for my cousin in Vietnam (price cheaper to Good ESN). So I guess it must be best for an ODIN flashable ROM for gsm network. Thank you.
The phone might not have a bad ESN it just might not be recognizing a network due to an invalid SIM or no SIM at all. The phone might work and find a network if a good SIM is put into the device. The first thing I would do though is find a stock image that is for a GSM phone. You can attempt to find out what service provider your cousin is going to use but to be honest it really does not matter with a GSM carrier and a phone that does not have SIM card restrictions which I am sure this one does not. You can look for a flashable image for Docomo, AT&T, or some other GSM provider. That will at least get you into the device so you can check out the options. You could always contact the person you got the device from and see what ROM they had installed and go back with that. Just a few suggestions.

So why we don't try Tmobile (I am using Ptel and Ptel base on Tmobile). IF it works on Tmobile then it can be unlocked later. (but I am sure the seller he told this phone has bad ESN)
Thank you.
From what I have found T-Mobile did not put out the Galaxy Nexus device. There is an option that you can try though. You can use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to flash stock images through ODIN and root any build you choose to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
Check out this thread for the download. The toolkit provides step by step instructions when you are performing the various actions. You will need to manually boot into download mode like you did before in order to use the ODIN feature in the toolkit. Make sure you select a stock/factory image for a GSM device.

Wow. It seems too complicated. I downloaded and installed the Galaxy Nexus toolkit with GSM model 4.2.2 JDQ39 Build
in the menu it says: install/uninstall device driver on your PC [unplug device first] and many other instructions after that
But my question is where I should start from which application? I open the Galaxy Nexus toolkit folder and there are many applications in there. Should I use the Odin3_v3.07 to begin?
Do you know any "step by step instruction from the beginning"? I don't even know how to use the Odin3_v3.07 yet.
No there should be something in the ToolKit forlder named ToolKit.exe and that is what you want to open. All commands are run through the toolkit and when running it will look like a command prompt window with number options that you will type in. Commands will be displayed on the screen and you just type in the corresponding number to select options. The on screen instructions will tell you what to do at each step.

I did come to the prompt window and enter the option 1 : Install/Uninstall Device Driver on your PC (checked and saw driver on toolkit). Then reboot the phone (I guess in fastboot mode but holding vol down power and home keys) but I cannot get the serial number as show in the instruction and the phone show no activity at all. I checked toolkit and did see the USB connected Did I do something wrong?
There is a note in the command prompt window: make sure your device is booted fully into android. (how I am sure the phone is fully boot into android)
Please advice. Thank you
All the options that are listed that say booted into Android your not going to be able to use. You should be able to use any option that says via ODIN in the name of the option. When the toolkit attempts to reboot the phone and wait for fastboot you should be good if you are already in Download mode. You might have the option to flash a stock ROM via ODIN. If so that will at least get you into the phone and you can use other options in the toolkit from that point.

I tried most of the options but I could not get any control of phone in download mode. EX: I click on option 11: boot or flash .img file to device then it prompted "file not found." Other options I only message "waiting for the device" but there was nothing happen then.
I researched for the flashing the phone from beginning again but it seems nothing works for the bricked phone.

Pull the battery, wait 10 seconds. Put battery back in and press Vol. Down, Home (Middle button) and Power until you see a warning come on the screen. Press Up and you should see a picture of an Android with "Downloading" and "Odin Mode" in the upper left corner.
Once here try flashing via Odin again. If it's really a Sprint Note 2 I still suggest the MC2 Unrooted Restore to give yourself a clean slate.

open toolkit at command window with many options and I have chosen options:
*** 17 for GSM model adroid 4.2.2
*** 25 for USA GSM model adroid 4.2.2
and even tried ***45 CDMA LTE model adroid 4.2.2 (when I tried I did notice some downloaded files on command window and this is the only activity I have notice in entire procedure but after file is downloaded it returned to main menu and nothing happened then.
When I choose option 17 or 25 or 45 I got into the same menu with many of fastboot , ADB mode... options. As I said I tried most of these but nothing works.
you said try flashing via Odin again. I tried to locate the MC2 Unrooted Restore but could not find it. Please advice. Thanks

you said try flashing via Odin again. I tried to locate the MC2 Unrooted Restore but could not find it. Please advice. Thanks

Let's skip the toolbox for a moment.
1) Download this file:
http://www.rwilco12.com/Files/Devic...rooted/SPH-L900_MC2_1090526_Stock_Restore.exe
2) Open it. It will unpack another EXE in Odin-OC.
3) Set phone into Odin mode as previously posted.
4) Connect USB cable to PC, open EXE in Odin-OC folder.
Once shows connected, click Start.
That should get you going. If you still have problems let me know.

Cool. Thank you very much. You are really big help. Just restored the phone back to the Original Sprint android version 4.1.2 Hard ware version L900.09. It works perfect now but this phone was modified to use with GSM carriers (it got sim card lot) so I guess I will have to flash it. What should I do next. I prefer to AT&T or Tmobile.

Tab S4 can't enter in download mode, Bricked!!! help!!!

Few days ago i flashed the Twrp recovery and yesterday i decided to remove it. I locked OEM and it bricked(take a loot at the picture).
The problem is that i can't enter in download mode since i bought it. To flash TWRP, I had to use adb command to reboot the tablet in download mode, but now, bricked, there is no way to use adb.
I had many Samsung devices, so i know how to enter in download mode , in this case power volume + volume -.
Does anyone know some kind of software that when you connect tablet with PC, tablet will enter in download mode?
I think that warranty is voided, so i just don't want to go to a samsung service center.

You forgot to unlock OEM vin dev mode indeed. The only way to get ride about it is to reinstall stock with Odin. I'm really surprised you can't natively go in download mode with hardware buttons. Have you also tried with buttons with your tab connected to an electrical plug?
You can't enter recovery mode either?

I don't know why but after i tried with cmd with "fastboot reboot", i am able to use 3 buttons to enter into download mode. Thank you any way.
Good thing. I advise you to use Samfirm.exe to get the file to flash with Odin. It's depreciated but still works 100% fine.
Hello, I had the problem similar to yours. in practice I have an unlocked OEM S4 tab and Magisk 18.0 installed come on, only that my problem was that I suddenly used the device my device lost the root rights. Then I restarted and reinstalled with TWRP Magisk 18 I restarted in System and everything was ok! yesterday I started reading my message (photos you uploaded on OneDrive) How did you solve it? I have read the discussion but I do not understand how you shave the command .. I see that I can not go into download mode or recovery mode, help me I'm not a newbie so just explain to me how did you use Fastboot? Thanks again

I "quite accidentally" discovered that the physical key combo of POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN got me out of the "Security Error ...) state and into Download mode and I could then flash a Stock ROM using Odin...oh my...what a panic I got into after trying for hours on end to get the device into Download...Smart Switch app couldn't detect the device at all for me to run a recovery...
