[Q] Increase Font Size - Accessibility Settings?? - Desire General

I am trying to find a way to increase the font size, in a number of places but say for example in the phone list. I would find it far easier to read the phone numbers if they were a little larger.
In the system settings there is a tab for Accessibility. However when I click it, the next box available is greyed out and inacessible.
Has anybody any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

I cant believe that NOBODY knows how to do this????!!!!!!!!!!!

I can remember , when I last blatted my phone.. that area pops up with a box saying do you want to install accessibility, select no ... never seen it since .. apart from a full reset...
Must be a file to get it back some where .

Hot to change font size?.

Hi..
some of my contacts are very long. so, in phone i see some of name.
is there a way to change the size of font, to make it smaller?.
thanks in advance...
It might already be set to the smallest size.
Start, Settings, System, Screen on the bottom is a Tab for Text Size
but the phone font did not change...
everything can be fixed
it will be my pleasure to help u...
Almatrodi,
He only thing you can do since it maybe the smallest font is to change the setting on your contact list. Better for you to open up Contacts, go to Tools and then Options. After this, put a check mark on view names only. I had the same problem with Arab Names because they are so long and so many. This is the only way I got through it.
Mvmajorem..
thank you for that..
But i am not talking about showing the contacts. i have Pocket Informat instead.
the problem is in phone window. i want to change the font size of it.

I don't want that lines in Today!!!

Hi everybody,
I want to use a picture as wallpaper in my Qtek 9000..
But there is a problem: the lines between the Today plugins!!
I solved DEACTIVATING all today plugin!!
But i can't belive that i can't ERASE that damned lines!
Well: i tryed Wisbar Advanced desktop... but it slows the PPC..
I would write to Microsoft.. Because i HATE that lines..
I could use Pocket Plus.. But seems it crashes PDA..
Can you suggest me something similar.. Maybe freeware..
Please help me..
Bump and ditto, easy solution?
I too would like to know how to get rid of those stupid lines, it just makes any background image look crap.
I have managed to edit the Tomtom logo and made it smaller so it takes up less space but the annoying lines have to go.
If anyone out there knows a solution it would be greatly appriciated.
how did u edit the tomtom logo?
You could try changing the colour of the lines. Google for Tweaks2k2 and you should find a great tool you can download and use 3 times before needing to purchase it. BTW, the tool does a lot more than give you the ability to change the colour of the lines. This is a must-have app.
I can't belive that the only solution is to change the line's color!
I want to see the picture of my girlfriend WITHOUT that UGLY and STUPID lines!
No other phone in the world doesn't show a full picture!
I think that the solution is to write to Microsoft.. I can't belive it.. But there is no other solution!
They have to chang Today.. It's too old.. Based on old Pocket PC (In portrait)..
Maybe i posted in a wrong room?
on a old jornada I had I recall an app that had this as an option, so its possible, there must be a way to do it, maybe just replacing the image used for the lines with a blank one?, Im no coder or anything like that, just throwing out an idea, this is a developer forum, maybe someone could throw together a quick and dirty hack or maybe a reg hack, somebody help us out, I hate those lines too.

This issue has come up in several threads. The only way I know to "get rid of" them is to change the color to match the background by using a Theme Generator program.
I found links to the SHMetrics value in the SHELL32.EXE code of wm2003se. It is all done by COMMCTRL.DLL and te lines are called TodayLVItemLine2 and TodayLVItemLine1. But this is very undocumented. The problem is that you need to reboot every time you change something in the SHMetrics value.
See this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44154
I am still fiddling around with various values of this SHMetrics value. Problem is that I realy don't know what the effect is on what GUI element.
Perhaps one day...
Cheers
Im running wisbar advance 2 and I average 2-8% cpu (overclocked to 264) with it running but I dont see a setting to remove the lines, correct me if Im wrong...
I wish wisbar had different edge/gprs icon support, edge is spotty in many areas I frequent, so I trey to dl when im in an edge supporting cell...even if it just showed the actual icon like "notifications"

to change the colour of the tomtom sign just go to paint and zoom in and change the colour to your desire. i have made mine deep red. and to change the size go into photoshop and change the image size to a smaller size.
Once you have the one you want just go to the tomtom folder that should be on the root of your device and replace the file ttoday.bmp with the one you have. You might want to back up the original ttoday.bmp file just in case.
Once replace you don't even need to soft-reset. just go into settings-today and check to see if tomtom is selected to appear on your today screen. once you tap on the tick in the corner your picture will be updated.
Il try to attach the ones i have done but this is my first time attaching an image so it might not work.
As for the crappy lines on the screen.....Is there not a way just to make the lines invisible???

Messed with My Fonts :(

Hi Everyone:
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. I've already tried registry hacks and I think that's how I got into this mess in the first place. Last thing I tried was using Tweaks2k2.net and I made it even worse. Basically some of my fonts are completely messed up. I've attached a picture so you can see what I'm talking about.
If you notice at the top, the letters sorting the contacts are so big they're distorted. If anyone knows how to fix it I would greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all your help.
try this...
1. launch Tweaks2k2...
2. goto System Tweaks->System Tweaks
3. Select "Tahoma" in the dropdown list.
4. Check then Uncheck the adjacent checkbox.
5. exit and choose soft-reset.
6. after reset... goto Start->Settings->System Tab->Screen
7. goto Text Size then adjust smaller or bigger. just change what was defaulted just for this fix, you could always change it back when you dont want it.
8. check your contacts again.
have a nice day!
Thanks for the reply.
Hey There:
Thanks for helping out. I actually resolved it already, I thought I posted the response to my own post but I guess it didn't come through.
The way I solved it was by going to the same registry settings that I messed with and I set them up as HEX FFFFFFF4, this brought back all the text to the original size, problem solved.
See the problem was that I didn't want to really change the txt that I did change, I could have gotten away with going to the properties and changing the font size but I didn't know that.
Thank you again for your kind help it is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
no prob... im glad you solved it.

Display Owner Information on WM Lock Screen

This may be my dumbest post ever, but I find nothing on the topic. I lost my phone 2 nights ago and a nice lady found it and took it home to contact me. By then it locked to the default WM lock screen. Because it had locked, she could not see owner information and returned it to the restaurant. I got it back today.
Question, absent a Manila editor or 3rd party app (e.g. S2U2) is there any way to display owner information on the lock screen of a wm 6.5 sense (manila) stock rom?
M$ must have thought of this but I have no idea how to do it. Sorry if there are 1,000 posts somewhere on this topic.
Thank you!!!

Seems like such a good idea, id also be interested in this!
I don't yet have 6.5 but in 6.1 you go to Settings>Personal (Tab)>Owner Information>Options (Tab) and put a checkmark next to "Identification information" for the setting "When the device is turned on, display:"
Has this setting been removed from 6.5?

Thank you, but it is no longer there. It must be somewhere!
Setting owner information
I have a UK TP2
The only way I can find to display owner info is
From Getting Started, Set background, Change background image, Items tab
Disable HTC Sense, enable Owner Into - there you can enter the data and set to display on start-up
I hope this helps

Thank you, but it does not show when the device is locked in Manila. M$ and HTC are soooo stupid!
On my HTC Touch Pro 2 once its locked i get the owner information when i wake the device, but it seems that once you press the screen to access the unlock screen, you cant get back to the owner information unless you unlock the phone. Its a bit stupid that when you press the power button to put the device to sleep it brings up the owner information every time, but when its locked it doesnt. Pretty stupid if you consider that the only time you really need the owner information to be constant is when you lose your phone or it gets stolen!
I've been googling the whole weekend and did not find anything. Still searching.
Does somebody have any idea about how to show owner info ? As TPC knows the way to move right/left/down the "slide" button, is there a way to add the owner info to the screen ?
(I know S2U does have this option, but I mean using the built-in new unlock feature in WM6.5)
Owner info on lock screen HTC TP2
Anybody who help me out with the owner info on the lock screen? It worked fine in the previous BIOS version and in the latest released BIOS update it 's gone.
I'm able to fill in all the owner details, but it's not displayed when I switch on the device.
Awaiting for a positive response
Kindly regards
Andries
This is something I'd like to do as well. My previous Blackberrys had this and it was a nice feature.
I'm not on wm6.5 but try using WM's built-in Lock feature. On wm6.1 and before, owner's info is displayed before showing the password screen
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-5/Lock-your-phone-touch.aspx
Has anyone found a good solution to displaying the owner information yet? I had put it in the 'hint' but this only appears after you have mistyped the password several times.
Ok, I've found a solution. You can change the text that appears under the slider (usually 'slide'). I've changed to my name followed by my phone number.
You can find it here.

It's a good (provisory) solution !! I think it's the best way to tell whose is the device or what to do in emergency case.
Now, what about connecting what is inside the sentence in the .cpr file to another file ? Does somebody think it's possible ? Or maybe the .dll file could be adapted to read from the "username" keys in the registry ?? (sorry for my question, I have no idea about programming)
Another way
I changed my welcomehead.192.png file to my own picture, and included text in the picture with my name and a request to call a phone number if the phone is found. All you need to have is a program that can put out a 480X800 PNG and be able to add text.
EDIT: The file has to be moved to the \Windows directory. This file says up for almost a minute when the phone boots.

Thank you for the tip! Between getting my name and email in the lock slider, and my DL# and email addresses in the boot screens, I should be good to to for now...just need to install RemoteTracker!
Setting Owner Information on Touch Pro 2
The option to do this easily was removed in 6.5. To enable this follow the advice below:
1. Navigate to Settings, All Settings, Today
2. Click on the Items tab
3. Disable HTC Sense
4. Enable “Owner Info” and tap OK.
5. Enter the Owner information that you would like displayed on the Today screen.
6. Highlight the "Owner Information", and go to the Options tab
7. Check that the "When the device is turned on Display" Identification information is enabled
8. Go back to Item 1 and re-enable HTC Sense
9. The Owner Information will now show when the phone is locked
EDIT: My ROM's Chef said that selecting the 'Owner Info' option will not allow the 'Options' button to function even though 'Owner Info' is enabled for the ROM that I am currently using. However, I was successful in changing my lock screen text by using the 1st posted method above (Customize or Remove Lock Screen Text).
I edited both "TapOrSlide" and "SlideToUnlock", because I noticed that my custom text would not display if I received a notification. Also, keep the number of characters to a minimum, so that it displays correctly. If it is too long, the far left and far right characters will fall off the screen.
Hmm, wonder if there's a way to add additional lines to the displayed text???
Many thanks to the original poster for posing a question that I didn't even know I needed to know!

Thanks so much for this, however, for some reason the "Options" button is greyed out (unavailable) in the Today Screen Item Settings page even though I have Owner Info highlighted... Damn! May have to try the other method. Anyone have any success with either?
I've also sent a message to my ROM's Chef asking if this is a bug or whether this is an option that was somehow left out of the build that I'm using.

jamiemckee posted a good solution that I use. Make a reg edit to revert back to the WM6.1 Device Lock & do away with the 6.5 Lockscreen. Just your Today Screen shows.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Enable
Default Value: 1 (for Sliding lock screen)
Changed Value: 0 (for soft key lock a la wm6.1)
I found this because I actually WANTED to disable the default WM6.5 lockscreen as I prefer the soft key unlock, partly because of the memory the sliding lock uses, and also because I want to be able to see the gorgeous sense 2.5 interface when I turn my phone on to see the time.

This functionality has to be in the 6.5 OS somewhere. I used to have a TouchPro 2 with 6.1 and it displayed the owner information during power up. To get this information to appear on my Tilt 2, I had to download and install an app called SKTools. Now I have an applet in the Personal settings under the Settings option in the start menu where one wasn't before.

[Q] Quickmemo+

Greetings, first time poster and new member! I have heard great things about XDA so i thought I would try my luck here. I really like the Quickmemo+ app, and even more so because I can pin it as a capacitive button in the settings. However, the issue is, when I access it from the capacitive button to quick launch the program, it ALWAYS has a default setting of a nasty-looking yellow page, no lines, and the stylus option selected. Every time I want to make a quick note, I have to change the settings inside the app to get the right page, color, lines, and text boxes. Is there a way to make what I actually WANT to use my default for when I open the app? Thanks in advance for any help provided!
I didn't think u have option to change that
