What have people been experiencing in terms of Audio Video/Quality for mpeg4 at 720p/Mpeg4 800 x480 WVGA and H.264 (800 x480)WVGA formats?
From what I can gather its general consensus that 720p is utter crap, has fps skipping, grainy issues and looks worse then 800x480 WVGA
Kinda depends on your location. With good lighting, my mpeg4 view at 720p come out great. But as lighting goes down, so does clarity and FPS. Just record a minute of video with each option and see what looks best for you.

I wanted to convert some video files for my TP2. Can anybody please help me with the recommended video size and frame rate? Thanks!
Im not an expert on this topic but...
since the TP2's Screen is 480x800 I guess thats the resolution you should convert to (in full screen, some clipping will occur if your footage is e.g. cinema 21:9 format), and framerate -imho- is the same as your original footage you want to downsize...
Which software do you use?
regards
AO
I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if the TP2 could decode 480x800 video at 30fps. Maybe in MPEG-2, but I doubt MPEG-4. Even the XBox CPU (733 mHz P-3) can barely handle 960x540 in MP4 (DivX or Xvid)
Ideally I'd recommend 720x480, which is NTSC DVD resolution, if the CPU can decode it. Then again, I'm from the US, and all I ever see is NTSC.
So now that we all have FroYo (well, most of us). What do you think about the new HD recording? I just recording this:
However, inside with low light the framerate is worse.
Also, I noticed I can now choose between: H.263, H.264 and MPEG-4
Pretty disappointing! It doesn't look like true 720p video, it looks like it's being upscaled as there's not a great deal of detail.
Agreed, it looks pretty crap tbh
Im going to do a side by side comparrison with two desires one running 2.1 the other running 2.2, Then I shall post the videos for comparrision...
Better trying filming outside...can't tell if its good behind window.
Hey guys, the camera seems pretty good on this phone when I'm taking pictures, however when I am taking videos it almost seems kind of grainy even though its suppose to be 1080p. Anyone else have the similar or different experiences? Please share!
Grain doesn't have much to do with resolution. What affects grain directly is light. Low light will give you more grain. Period. This is valid for professional cameras as well.
Shoot a video I good light and the quality is excellent.
Don't use 1080p it's crap and makes videos look awful. They decided to zoom the picture in about 40-60% and not allow you to zoom out. As a result everything looks grainy and out of focus.
Set ur camera to 720p look at how much you can see, how clear the image is how sharp the colors are etc and then switch to 1080p and you will find all the sudden you zoomed way in and can't zoom out and the picture quality dropped about 60%.
They claim 1080p support but it's a lie since they zoom in and give you a MUCH lower quality video than 720p does.
How do you switch to 720p mode?

I'm pretty sure that's just a big nasty bug. The camera sensor and chipset are all very capable of 1080. It seems like the 1080 is zoomed into the amount of area that 720 would take in the middle of a 1080 image...I won't say it's an honest mistake, as it's borderline retarded...but, if it is dumping 1080p worth of data it can certainly do 1080p video...that's only 2mp and the tough part is writing that to storage without it getting skippy...and clearly that can be done.
Though I am assuming it is writing a 1080p file...has anyone checked?

GoPro HD also does this. Few of my friend's digital point and shoots did this as well. So, it's a sensor issue, not a software one.
I posted this before:

I really wish there was a way an external microphone could be used while recording video.
My problem is with the recorded audio. Has anyone found an app that let's you control audio gain. Serious clipping for live music records.
Its the quality (bitrate) in which the audio is recorded. At stock, its set at 64kbps and a sample rate of 44kHZ which is pretty subpar.
There's a hacked camera apk that lets you record audio at 194kbps with sample rate of 48kHz and also raises the video bitrate by a tad as well.
A tremendous difference in quality.
The graininess is caused by poor lighting. I went to sea world with my girl this week and all the outside video's came out amazing. But, inside shots with low light all came out very grainy. I can't blame the sensor too much because like someone mention before the same happens on high end camera's. But, also remember professional shots are taking with very high end lighting equipment.

I can't seem to find anything like what you're referring to anywhere in the market or our app section. Got a link or a file name? Thanks.

I noticed everyone's been talking about 1080P recordings on the One X. Knowing how much space the 1080P videos would take up and most of the video I take are more than 5 mins, I doubt I'll be using it too much. Anyone has any information on 720P recording, the fps during outdoor, indoor, low light conditions?
Hi I currently have a Sony Z2 and HTC One M8, thinking of upgrading the Z2 to something better like the G3 or new S5 advance but I only have two questions that G3 reviews did not answer and they are:
1. How is the 1080P playback on the QHD display of G3. "The reason is that most steaming sites do 1080p and the ones than do 1440p are either of sub par quality or of a processed type. A call to one of the streaming sites confirms the same they have two video sources FHD and UHD there are no QHD sources"
2. How long does the 4K recording last? "My Z2 records 4K only up till 5Min which is crap and a complete joke had I known this limitation would have chosen something else, the 1080p recording is worse to HTC One M8 performance that is a slap on its face"
1. that review uttered a total nonsense any screen can playback whatever kind of res a video have as long as the hardware and software are up for the job, it's more depending on the source file itself.

Its not that if G3 can playback 1080p its more of that how does 1080p look on a QHD screen. For example I have a Dell U2713HM with a 2560x1440 WQHD resolution but when I play a 1080p movie the quality looks less than on a Dell S2740L because the source and screen both are 1080p.
nonsense there is too many 720p contents on the web that still looks fine even on a QHD monitor...
