I was looking at bakedsnack 1.5 but the file seems to be bad and also in terms of the radio flash i have downloaded from several websites, it seems to not have any zip files in there so when the recovery opens it it says no files found.
Basically I have 2.1 running with unrevoked 3 rooted. I want 2.2 froyo but I have to have wireless tether for free. What is the best simplest way cause the baked snack file is bad and the radio zip update from multiple places seems to not have any files in it, welcome to let know if you prefer to call or text me, I appreciate the help
Have you been extracting the zips? you leave them, place them on the SD card & flash that.
nope not extracting at all, and the baked snack 1.5 is just a bad file i guess the guy knows it but he never posted a good file back so im not sure, can u help me?

I can actually vouch for this. I downloaded the new BakedSnack rom last night & tried flashing it. It just gave me a bad zip error or whatever it is. Although that just may be with Clockwork.

Alright for some reason unknown to me i have a demon Evo that wants to be different from everyone else. When i first rooted i lost the paid market, and my market was running really slowly. I flashed multiple roms and even the latest OTA to no avail. I did the new root method and again i am still having issues, my phone doing some things different then other people have experienced.
For example, i just tried to flash the latest baked snacks rom, and it came up as,
Wrong Digest
com.market.apk (or whatever the markets true name is)
Is there anyone that can help out?
Would removing the market using adb and then flashing a rom change anything?
Any ideas to experiment would be greatly appreciated!
ok so /system/app is a read only file system so i cant just remove the apps anyways and try and replace them with a flash.
Any ideas?
Also just flashed a 2.2 rom to see if that would change anything and again i have no paid app sections in the market.
i have no clue what the problem is but are you wiping before you flash
Of course im wiping haha. Ive wiped everything you possibly can wipe. Ive deleted the entire /system/app folder before flashing. Ive flashed roms of 2.2 and 2.1, ive ran RUU's. I have no friggin clue what steps to take
but you have tried doing the data, cache, dalvik from the recovery menu? Sorry if that's what you meant but I am a little confused by the wiping system/app part you wrote
Yeah i have. Ive wiped everything.
Hmm. Have you tried a different recovery to make sure its not that? Sorry I don't have any more tips to give you, it just seems like its a strange problem to have across multiple roms. Just kinda makes me think something isn't clearing correctly. Best of luck, I'm sure you will get it figured out
yeah i just wish there was someone who had the key. Ive had both clockwork and Amon's recovery. I have no idea what it could be and i cant believe nobody else has experienced this.
yeah, sorry I couldn't offer a better answer. I tried doing a search but could not find anything relevant
I am sure you will figure it out though!
are their any problems with it? if so are they fixable? FYI im talking about the leaked froyo update. Also is their more then one version of it? IVe been thinking about updating and could use some input as to what I should do. Any help is appreciated.
Hey bro I wasn't being a **** towards you on your last post. I was just trying to tell you that it was in the wrong section. Welcome to the.forums and this is a great place if you want to learn. I'm on the update now running bonsai rom with ext4 and its very stable. I get better battery life than eclair and everything works. The only issue I have is occasionally when I make a call I don't hear it ring till I toggle speakerphone on/off. That's a common bug. Other than that its an awesome leak and I'm gonna be on it till the official release and update it manually. I would Def. Update if I were you. The best way in my opinion is to use Odin to get a fresh install and make sure you have a GPS lock before you flash so your GPS will work on froyo. Good luck

Its cool. could you provide me link to all the things listed? assuming its not against the rules. Preferably the best version of the update or clarification of what it is would be helpful.
http://briefmobile.com/how-to-update-sprint-epic-4g-to-android-2-2. Use the second set of instructions. Download Odin and the full tar file. Put the phone in download mode by turning it off and then holding the 1key on the keyboard and the power button. If it's in dl mode you will see a guy like shoveling stuff. Open Odin and put the full dk28 tar file (make sure it's the correct size like 289mb) in the PDA section. Make sure first that Odin recognizes the phone so there should be COM that pops up in the box on the upper left corner with some numbers(don't worry bout what the number is). So plug the phone into the computer after Odin is up not before. After Odin recognizes the phone go to the PDA section not phone but PDA and plug the full Dk28 file into this. Make sure only auto reboot is the only thing checked on the left side and DON'T USE THE PIT FILE. it can cause Odin to fail and it's not needed for rom flashing. Once everything is ready hit start. You will see a progress bar on the phone and computer. Once you hit start it should take around 3-4 mins to complete and don't unplug the phone till it's done. If for some reason it says it failed or it just hangs at a certain step just keep trying. Sometimes it takes me a couple tries. One more thing before you shut your phone off to put it on dl mode one up aps and turn your gps on and get a lock. That way your gps will work once it's flashed. Good luck. Any questions just ask but you can follow the guide n the website I gave you the only thing that I told you that is different than the website is they say to use the pit file. remember don't you dont need it.
KEY PIECE OF ADVICE MISSING HERE. before you flash that file rename out taming the .md5 extension off. Also when he says only have reboot checked, means un check that box labeled f.reset its easy to overlook. Now the pit file, normally I don't use it but this is changing complete os version not just an eclair update I would go ahead and use it. Its just a map for odin to use when partitioning the install and with froyo for sure the modem has been moved around on a diff sector. This time I would use it. Best of luck and read over all the directions before you do it to make sure you are comfortable with it.

You can rename the file but I've never had a problem with using the tar file with. Md5. Odin accepts it but I guess some people have had problems with it. Also I didn't use the.pit going to dk28 and my.phone works fine. I've never used the pit file. Only time its needed is for.flashing kernels and modem files bit it's not gonna hurt if you use it. I've actually had the pit.file make my flash fail before the first time I tried to use the pit file.

Thanks Guys! One more question. Could you tell me how to also root my phone after this update so I can use my phone as a wireless hotspot? Im also curious as to what the benefits of rooting are and what I can do once im done. Hopefully I dont sound like a idiot ,but I am needing to educate myself more.
Sure I can help you. Once you get to 2.2 like I Saif you have 2 options. To keep you rfs filesystem or switch.to ext4. I.recommend going.to ext4. It will make your phone faster and alot.of rom developers have switched to ext4 so.if you want.the newest rom updates you need it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897612. That's the link for the one click.root plus clockwork version 3 that will convert you to ext4.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770388 . That's the link for the one click root and cwm. If you want to stick with the stock filing system. I have the latest version of bonsai rom installed with ext4 filing system. Let me know what you decide to go with. If you go with ext4 and cwm3 it only supports edify scripts to flash but a lot of zips have been converted to edify. Just let me know if you go with cwm3 and I'll explain this in more detail for you.

Will it change the stock layout/menu of my phone? or erase anything? Also Im assuming a rom is somthing you load on your phone like a game with a emulator. But what exactly do these roms do?
Also last question and im off to work on this. I heard this update can also increase my battery life is that true?
As far as a rom erasing all your data yes when you flash the rom you boot into clockwork and you have to clear all data and cache before flashing so when your phone boots up you won't have any data there. It's like a brand new phone, but if you do a backup in clockwork and then after you erase all data and flash the rom you can do an advanced restore and restore all your data. It's a really nice feature to have. As far as a rom losing the stock look it depends on the rom. Some roms look stock and others don't. The best thing you can do is go to the development section and open up the different roms and look at the pics of what it looks like to have that rom on your phone and also look at the change logs and it will tell you what is on the rom. If you want to keep the stock look bonsai rom v1.1.4 leafless version looks pretty stock and if you get tired of that you can then flash the theme over top of the rom and it changes it up a bit. If you want I can post pics of my setup so you can see if you like it. I hope I answered your questions so you can understand it. As far as battery life I'm getting better battery life on dk28 But it will get even better when custom kernels come out for froyo and then they can under volt them. That won't happen till the ota comes out and the source code is released but yes I'm getting better battery life on froyo then I was on stock eclair. Also the good thing bout rooting is you can freeze or delete all of the bloatware that you don't use. For instance the sprint NASCAR app or whatever else that comes on the phone that wastes space. If you have any more questions just ask. When you decide to do this I can give you my google talk username and I can walk you thru the process and get you a nice rom setup on your phone. Just let me know. Later
Got it done. But now I can't find apps I need in the market place is teir any kind of fix for that?
Ok did you instal the drivers? If not let me know if you have a 32 or 64 bit and ill post them for you. Also if its a desktop try.the USB in the back closest to the motherboard. Also the stock cable sucks and you need to get another one. Radioshack has one or eBay. But you need the computer to recognize the phone or you can't root it either and install cwm. If you did install the drivers plug the phone in when its turned on and it should install them for you as long as you downloaded them. If you installed the drivers try turning on USB debugging ( settings-applications-development) and then plug the computer in and if the drivers are installed properly in the notification bar it would say USB connected and then USB debugging on. That means the phone and the computer can recognize each other

Yeah that's normal I can't.remember why but when you flash a rom they will come back. There us a fix somewhere in the development section but if you flash a custom rom you'll be fine. Noe use.the one click root with cwm version 3 to convert to ext4.

at this point all i have done is install the leaked update. I want to be able to download the apps I cannot get to some of which may be protected in the marketplace. Is their a link or way around this with out rooting or would i need to root to access them? also if I do root I want the same layout my menus have now so where can I find a walkthrough for this? thanks guys for your patience and help. ALSO UPDATE I want to go ahead with the root and ext.4 rom it and but i dont want my menus or anything to change whats the next ?or would they change?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848778. That will help you to fix why uoi are missing some apps. If you want yo ho to ext4 rom then I suggest bonsai Mammon rom v 1.1.4 leafless. This rom has the stock look but with extra performance added. Just run the one click root with.clockwork mod version 3 to convert to ext4 then flash the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897612. That's Tue.root you have to run. Here's the rom I recommend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869295
update I placed ext 4 on here and rooted it. Now how do I apply the market fix and im done for a while.
I cant seem to find the folder to apply the fix
Ok, more than fairly new to android. Ive ran on windows, windows mobile and blackberry for a very long time. Finally decided Android seemed like the hot ticket (cus f*** apple) and im trying to get into this stuff.
Im a geek whose been de-geeked (haven't spent much time on the computer in the last 8-12 months, comps currently unplugged and still packed after a move, currently at a library to post this.... you get my point), and so im limping into the android world. I bought and love my epic, but I didnt buy it to run it stock so im looking to upgrade. Things I really want in a rom/want my epic to do (i understand if not ALL are possible):
-Full Flash (10.1?)
-Preferred Froyo base
-I dont mind the look/feel of the stock Shell, but Ive never experienced any others so I guess Im open to suggestions and testing them out.
-For some reason, my images don't load in full quality, Ive been told some ROMs fix this. id like it fixed.
... My list is surprisingly shorter than I initially thought it would be when I started this post... so I may edit it soon as I remember other important things.
P.S. Ive done some searching around, don't flame me. It seems hard (extremely hard) to look at each one ROM individually, see its features and what is has to offer, compare and contrast and then pick one. Ive seen a few lists with random ones compared, but no list of all of them (I imagine that would be very hard to keep up to date). It seems more like, when someone makes a ROM they say what it is, what it does, what is has and if you miss the bandwagon then you miss it completely.
Thank you for all recommendations
I like bonsai rom on froyo. Its fast and very stable. It also has swap enabled. If you wanted to go to this froyo rom for flash support then you have to upgrade cause your on eclair now. The easiest way to get to this rom is to go into the dev. Section and find the one click root plus clockwork version 3. Not 2.5.5 but version 3. But before you do that you need use a program called Odin to flash your modem from di18 eclair to dk28 froyo. Then once you boot into cwm it will change your filesystem over from rfs to ext4 and then you flash the bonsai rom and your done. Sorry I don't have links for you I'm using tapatalk and its a pain in the ass to post links but go to the dev section and look its all in there. Good luck

I've tried a few different roms but so far I like ViperRom's frozen 4.0.3 the best. It has flash and is very very stable. Its based on dk28 and the step by step instructions are a breeze on their thread. It uses cwm 2.5 and everything is available on their thread.
Sent from my [frozen] epic.
Thank you guys for the responces, ill check them both out when I get to a real computer. Odin sounds like fun ;D sorry it took me so long just to check up on my own thread, life is... life.

No there isnt, i updated via updatezip both 2.2 and the modem, i first flashed the modem, then tried to flash 2.2 but i had to flash the d118 stock rom unrooted then it updated and then i was able to ext my system then get on bonsai.
Since ive had my epic, ive avoided odin all together..
which themes and roms can I use if I rooted using odin?
and if i have drockstar.clean.kernal.eco5v 1.02 installed
too root i used eco5x_dxc.tar
hope that helps hard to get this far and lost without trying something and getting locked no load or looping and having to reflash
how do i flash it, instructions do i have to change it to anything or download and flash?
is there something on the market to help flash, use odin or recovery, change name to flash?
All of them. I reccomemt SRF 1.1.1 + twilight kernal 1.11 (in same thread) if you like froyo or marcusant rom if you want gingerbread. Make sure you are using cwm 3.0.2.5
Did the news get around about a guy named butcher pete?
I dont think it matters if you rooted via odin as to the themes as much as it does the kernel supporting the them and the modem supporting it and the version of rom you are running. I have noticed there are quite a few that will go together but you have to make sure of them all
okay then what and how do i know what i can put toghether
this is alot different then running the moment
that was alot easier
is there something that would let me know which rom i can run compared to theme, etc?
and how do i go about doing that?
this is alot different then the moment so like they say.....still wet behind the ears, but learning from you
Let me just say this first. If you have read anything the most from this site it is research it. There are alot of wiki and posts for almost everything. I rushed into it and was so in a bad way and someone helped me out so here I am. what have you done to your phone. Rooted??If so did you CW3 or Odin. Are you stock dk28...
this could go on and on. If anyone sees a problem with what you are saying or something doesnt seem right the Devs will jump in. But if it is handled in wiki or past posts...dont expect a fast response. Not that they are neglecting...but they are busy.
rooted using odin...eco5x_dxc.tar
and i have drockstar.clean.kernal.eco5v 1.02 installed
thats all i have done
got all from sdx site not rushing had phone for 2 months so another day
isnt going to hurt, want to be safe and learn
different from moment
so?
What clockwork mod version do u have?

I have put together a new Rom version of SyndicateRom Frozen 1.1.0 called RandomRom. It includes many of the updates and modifications made to 1.1.1.
More specifically, it includes the Genocide Kernel and solves freezes. It also comes Pre-Journaled.
You'll also find the link to the CWM 3.0.2.5 upgrade thread in the changelog. Everything you will need should be linked.
Hey all,
I am currently running the Linaro build of ICS, which is PHENOMENAL by the way. I owned a Nexus prior to rooting my Incredible and I swear I sometimes forget I have a 2 year old device, it's that good.
My question pertains to my radio. I live in Northern Virginia and the latest radio seems to be pretty miserable.
I want to revert to previous radios to see if I can get anything better than what I have now, which is consistently -90 and lower. Barely maintaining 3G.
Every time I download the .zip, rename and go into HBOOT, nothing updates. Am I missing something? Any help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

Where are you getting the files from? Are you checking the md5 to make sure the file is not corrupt? Make sure the file is in no folders on the sdcard and named exactly PB31IMG.zip . If all thats good try backing up your sdcard to your pc, and formating it fat32, then move the files back to the card and try again.
You can get all the radios here http://dinc.does-it.net/Radios/. The evo radios on that page are also for and work with the incredible, as evos and incs are so similar.
I had this problem and no matter how I named my files or how many times I formatted my SD card, HBOOT would not recognize the file and install.
One you get your radio file from the link posted above, flash it using the method found at this link.

(sorry can't post live links yet)
This is what finally worked for me.

Ahhhh I'll give this a shot, this is exactly how it's happening to me. Have checked the MD5 and everything, no matter what I do seems to work. I'll try flashing now. THANKS!
Put the file you're flashing on a different card with nothing else on it. Boot into hboot then, and it should recognize it. That's the only way I can flash radios, splash screens, and such on mine. Don't know why, but it works. I've got a 512 mb card just for that purpose. Flash it, boot, power down, put your regular card back, and you should be good.
Edit: Are you s-off?
sorry...I was on the phone...
