That's your problem. It has nothing to do with the rom.
Check vzw location and standalone gps services too.

HTC incredible Google navigation problem

Hi. I downloaded skyraider, rooted my phone and installed froyo 2.2. I have clockwork recovery as well. Ever since then my Google navigation has not been working. Google maps will locate where I am but when I hit navigate it just stays on searching for gps. I was wondering if there was a solution and if this problem is with all the other incredibles.

Toggled airplane mode on and off yet?
havn't noticed this and am running skyraider 2.5.2 as well.
Check 'Location' under settings and try checking all three (Verizon, Google, GPS) location settings and see if that helps any
Yeah I tried all that and it pin points my location but gets stuck on searching for gps. Also my camcorder doesn't work. Is this maybe tied in to the same problem?

What version of Sky Raider are you running? I know GPS and Camcorder didn't work for me when I was on V1.9. Since upgrading my radio and flashing 2.5.2 everything has been perfect.
Did you upgrade your radio? I believe you must have version 2+ for camcorder and GPS to work.
yes i just updated my radio and the camcorder works now just not the gps. still searching for gps it says. It has my location just cant find the sattelites
alright it finally all works!!! thanks a bunch guys for ur time

[Q] Location not correct in SkyRaider 3.5

Does anyone know why skyraider rom would show my location through maps and weather incorrect? I had 3.2 skyraider, and it showed correctly, and have tried virtuous and it shows correctly. I have deleted the widget for clock and weather, removed and added location services, no luck.
Don't know. No problems here. What radio and kernel are your running?

was the stock froyo, didn't work then just changed over to 2.15.00.09.01, didn't work, and i am using whatever kernal comes with the 3.5 skyraider.
I also just went through and unrooted and all the location items are correct, but reinstalled Skyraider and they are wrong again. If i turn on the GPS it will find my location correctly, but without that it always comes up with a place that is about 120 miles away.

Maybe the closest A-GPS enabled tower is 120 miles away? I say this because you say if you turn on the hardware GPS it finds your location correctly. Also do you have "Allow Mock Locations" checked under Settings>Applications>Development? If it is un-check it.
The only thing about that is that other ROMS will show my correct location and weather based on my current location.
How odd. Never had that problem with any version of Skyraider.
fixed it. Not sure if I did it, or if i was having issues with VZW. Another fresh install, with wipe of everything seems to have fixed it.

[GUIDE/FIX] Potential fix for GPS issues with some ROMs

If your GPS isn't working with your new ROM, then try this method. It has worked for me for every ROM I've used with a problem connecting to GPS. I've seen the problem posted in several ROM threads, and instead of posting it in each one and having it get lost in the hundreds of pages of posts, I figured I'd start a new one which might be searched for a little more easily.
- Open 'Settings' and go to 'Applications'. Choose 'Manage Applications'.
- Choose 'Running Apps'
- Find the 'Maps' app and open it. Click 'Force Stop' and choose 'Clear Data'.
- Go back to your app drawer and open 'Maps'. It will have you check off the disclaimers. Close it after you have done this.
- Open your 'Navigation' app and check off the disclaimers there. It should connect after that.
Like I said, this has worked for every ROM I've tried with a problem connecting to GPS. I don't know why it works, but it does.

Didn't solve my GPS issue...which is that it doesn't toggle on what so ever.
Each new nightly I flash, I have to push an old gps.vision.so in order to get my gps to toggle on and off again.
Thanks anyway.
edit: No app on the market will make my GPS work...That is the type of GPS problem that I and some others are having.
try install the gpxfix or gps status from the market.. work well for me..
Same here...this didnt help.
Also installing GPS status did not help either.
As discussed in the nightlies thread, Cyanogen presumeably updated a crucial library responsible, among other, for GPS functionality which requires the/a new radio.
This also could explain why some users while having identical devices to other users do have GPS while others dont. They simply did upgrade the radio already earlier while the ones which are stuck with a bon-working GPS didnt and are still on the original radio, an "old" one in regards to the prerequisites of the "new" library added to the build.
Makes sense?

Yep...this is 100% correct.
And for what its worth, I went a head and flashed the new radio again just too see if in fact it does fix the GPS and yes it does.
Back to the T-Mobile US OTA radio and the gps.vision.so from Nightly #4 or earlier.
not 100% correct, i have the new radio and still have the gps problem... i've seen at least one other person with the same.
But i'm using a Bell Desire Z, maybe thats why

Did you happen to use the app 'GPS Status' to check your gps after you upgraded? If not, what was the first gps application that you opened after you upgraded to CM7, if you can remember?
Scratch that....just reflashed the radio and nightly 13. Gps works a charm now! Thanks

Im on the stock ROM and have a problem. I think the GPS on these phones are messed up big time. Here is my problem.
stock rom with ota update and ota update radio= no GPS AT ALL it will just stick there blinking tryin to get a fixed signal but it wont! Happens in alll my GPS app not just maps.
So I downgraded my radio to the pre-ota one and GPS gets a fix but takes a minute or so.. after that I can leave the app and come back and itll refix itself within 5 seconds (what it should be normally).. So even downgraded I still have slight issues with gps.. plus for some reason if I loose signal for more than 5 mins on this radio it wont ever get a signal unless I reboot.
Im going to try your method but dont think itll work since my problem is not Maps specific.
EDIT: this seems to have worked, even on my the ota radio. I just dont understand why Maps would break GPS for all apps. Funny things is when something like this usually happens I clear app data but didnt do it here because it was all my GPS apps.
I'm glad it has worked for a couple people anyway. I don't know what the problem is that causes this, but it has worked on the ROMs I've flashed, so I figured it might be a good step to take before updating radios and things like that. Just in case the solution is as simple as just stopping Maps and clearing the data... If you have done more modification to your phone beyond just flashing ROMs, then this may not work for you since the problem may be bad radios or other issues. If you are just a ROM flasher without tweaking too much else, then this may solve your problemo.

And I have the old radio, and never had a gps issue. Maybe not all the batches in the factory has the same chip, ic whatever?

I used to not have GPS issues either - european Desire Z btw - having said that, CM7 #14 breaks with that uuhm... tradtion. It's the first build giving me no GPS unless a new-ish (the 26.04 and 26.06 works) radio is flashed.
So wat is the new radio, I recently flashed a different radio but I'm not sure if its the latest radio out. Thx

Follow the instructions in this thread. Flash the updater and then the efs wipe tool through recovery.

Gingervillain GPS problem

Hi,
I am having trouble with GPS on my desire since installing gingervillain. On both versions 1.4 and 1.5 GPS just doesn't seem to be working at all. I've tried a factory reset from the recovery menu and have tried re-applying the zip file but with no luck. GPS is enabled but I don't even get an icon on the status bar at the top when it is supposed to be searching for a signal.
Thanks,
Chris
Reach for the skies
Go outside of your house. Point your phone to the sky. Your position should should showing on your GPS.
Or it could be the program itself? Try different gps using apps like maps, facebook places etc etc.
Also do post what radio you're currently using on your phone. It could help people diagnose your problem better.
Tried outside and using gpstest off the market with no luck. I don't usually have any problem with gps inside my house anyway. I don't even get an icon in the status bar at the top it's like it's not working at all. And before anyone says yes it is switched on! My current version is:
32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Any help would be much appreciated!

You must have the worlds strongest GPS in your desire. In normal ones, you need to be outside with the phone pretty much able to see the sky. On top of that, ideally it will need to be a clear sky.
Turn on GPS, open up Google Maps / your Navigation software (while outside). On my phone it only used to show the GPS icon in the task bar when a program was running that could use it.
Alternatively download GPS tools from the market (I forget the exact name).
If your GPS is indeed stuffed, take your phone back (if its under warrantee).
My GPS died on my phone. Completely. And before that it kept rebooting the phone. Had to take it back.

Try gps status on the market
Same here too
Hi
very interested in this thread as my GPS worked fine until I installed Gingervillain 1.4 last week and then updating to 1.5 on Friday
Radio : 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14
I downgraded to GV 1.0 and my GPS was working ok again. I heard there was a known GPS problem fixed in GV 1.6 so I upgraded but the problem returned unfortunately. Any ideas?
Update the kernel with Villain set up, it cured my GPS problem.
GVChangelog:
Version 1.6:
* Fixed GPS problem (Thanks to CM Team)
+ kernel update defo works.

Hi,
Could you advise how I go about that? I thought the Kernel was updated as part of the gingervillain setup anyway?
Well I've had more fun with this! I just couldn't get GPS working on anything other than GV 1.0. I completely wiped my SD card and re-formatted the EXT3 partition. I then installed the stock RUU at which point GPS was predictably working. I then went through the flashing process of GV 1.6 and GPS was working this time. It was fine for a week or so but then the GPS stopped working again! I'm thinking it must be something to do with the dalvik cache now, that's the only reason I can think of for the GPS to stop working. I'm running out of patience with GV now so does anyone have suggestions for another stable 2.3 ROM I can move onto?
Thanks again,
Chris

[Q] GPS without CDMA network [HELP]

I'm in Portugal and i've got the HTC Droid Incredible from Verizon, there's no CDMA network in Portugal, but my main problem is that i'm not able to use the GPS on my phone... anyone has any idea? i've tried several app's that work on my other phone but nothing works..
Is GPS even enabled in settings -> location settings? There should be a standalone GPS option on the Droid Incredible. If that's on then you can use GPS and maps data (need wifi for maps data though since you're not on CDMA).
Yeah, you should be able to use GPS with google maps after downloading some data for offline mode.
Make sure all of your location services are enabled on the phone, and make sure you have GAPPS installed, and then get Maps and Nav.
the trick with a wifi-only Dinc is that you have to map or nav your route BEFORE YOU LEAVE because you won't have the maps automatically updating over the CDMA network.
nothing
The thing is that, i simply can't, either way, not even full offline gps (Sygic) neither gps apps like GPS Status...

If no apps can use the gps and different roms dont solve the issue, then more than likley its a hardware failure of the gps chip.
