Anyone attempted to do it? There's no option to alter them in settings so I found where they are they are located in system/media/ui I tried deleting it through astro but I didn't have sufficient permissions -_- any suggestions? Id love to have my own little lock sound instead of that barely heard sound. And yes I got the idea from the ipod touch ability to do that when its jailbroken. If its possible on that I know it is on android

Yes, that option should be possible on a rooted device. I think once your rooted (which you are) that you find the file that contains the sounds and simply add your sound to the list. I think the only way to do so might be through usb. Plug in the phone via usb and drag the sound file onto your phone and it should work. I've never done this before, but I've read about it with past Android devices. Hopefully it will work for you. If it does or does not work please be kind to let me and others know.

I haven't seen any way where you can choose, but the unlock sound is found in /system/media/audio/ui/
idk if mp3's work, but I'm assuming replacing the Lock/Unlock ogg's with another one of the same name would work. It's easy to convert to ogg anyway.
I've always wanted to do this with some old school 8 bit sounds or even metal gear codecs but never got around the time to trying.

How do you convert it to ogg? And of course ill post if it works or not no problem. Ill try it through adb I guess since astro doesn't let me do it. Anyone else know a method besides adb and terminal that will let me get to root folders? I know droid explorer and all that but I'm 17 which means no credit card lol

An easy way is using a website like media.io
As far as I know, no root explorer apps work on our phone. I could be wrong.
Easiest way is going to clockwork recovery, mounting system and pushing.
I can confirm it works. I just have to lower the volume of my files because they're WAY too loud lol.

Ok sweet! Can you tell me exactly what you did?
Wait lemme take a guess
Adb pushed the lock sounds to the directory? Or pulled them first then pushed them?
Sent from My Rooted Htc Espresso
I just pushed, it overwrote the original. Don't need to backup if you still have the zip for the rom.
Just make sure when you're in clockwork recovery System is mounted so you can get in there through adb.

Here's a vid to see it in action. Sound is still a bit too loud for me, going to edit the volume again to lower it. I want to sound cool but not obnoxious lol.
EDIT: Keep in mind your Unlock sound flickers on/off when you lock your screen with the desktop clock on.

Alright cool i guessed that. You think maybe we could tell Cyan what we found and he could make it an option in cm6? And you think it would work with a regular MP3? ill test if you like but man thats nice and loud. At the website what level of volume you put it? high, medium, low or what? and dude where do you get your sounds from? google is not working with me right now lol i could just use ringdroid and make an Mp3 then convert but ehh idk.

Couldn't hurt to ask Cyan. But if he's busy working on CM6 I don't wanna bother lol.
I put the highest bitrate on the converter website. Shouldn't matter anyway, the file is still going to be like 20 kbs unless you use a long ass sound. (Which I don't recommend lol)
Personally I use Acoustica MP3 audio mixer to edit my ringtones. I lowered the volume in there, then converted on the website.
As for where I get my sounds, I google lol. "Videogame title here" + sound effects or sounds.

Lol Alright. Well where did you get yours? hell id rather use the one you have until i find some other ones.
Trying to post this is Dev, but I guess I can't because I have less than 10 posts to I'll get right to it.
Running Mikfroyo v4.5 (so a sense ROM, obviously)
Is there a way that you can tweak the proximity sensor on the Evo so that when the phone is in my pocket it won't ring super loud? I noticed that if the phone is on my desk that it will ring at the volume set, but when I have it in my pocket the ring tone COULD possibly wake the dead. I understand its a "fail-safe" in which the phone was buried under a crap load of clothes or in a gym bag you could hear it if someone was calling you. Well...I don't want/like that feature and would like to somehow turn it off.
Any Ideas?
Like I said before, I want to post in Dev but I can't yet.
there is an app called "Sanity" in the market. I've played with it before and it lets you customize proximity sensor settings n such. Hope it helps.
nice, i'll give it a try
was really hoping that app was going to work. Started off soft than went right to really loud while in my pocket. damn it...
am I really the only one annoyed by this?
I dont seem to notice my device making louder sounds when its in my pocket. /shrug

When people call you, you don't notice that your phone rings louder in your pocket than say in the open? I have my phone set on the lowest possible setting before off/vibrate and if it's in the open face up than it rings softly, if it is in my pocket than it will ring soft than gradually make its way louder and louder and louder till it maxes out it sounds like.

Just a note, completely unrelated, but if you were to post this thread in the dev section, you would've been flamed.
Questions belong in Q&A. When you develop something, you can post it in the development section. Until then, don't.
This is why there's a limit.
I'm really not trying to be a douchebag, just informing you.

Well it seems to be an "issue" with the ROM, that's why I want to post on his thread. That way he can tell me if it is part of the Sense ROM or if it is deeper inside root that I can change. I was reading through a bunch of posts on his Dev thread and there are a bunch of people asking questions about the ROM and getting answers, so it's pretty evident that I need to post my question there as my question deals with his ROM.

Hey I wonder if it would be possible to have an animated lock screen of say, lifestream moving around?
Being that the limit breaks were never that long, I'd say the full animation from the game would be perfect.
And this is for Samsung Epic. Not CM7 (saw your signature, just making sure you're aware )

I'll see what I can do! Going to sleep will get back with you tomorrow evening
Omnislash Bootanimation FF7 (game)
Ok, so it's not quite evening yet but I managed to get one out... Because the videos in the game are usually displayed in wide screen format, it will be a little smaller than you might like in order to portray it in portrait mode (phone straight up and down). I've set the default frames per second to 30 but you can change that if you like. I'm not sure how long your boot animation lasts as there are countless variables that decide that. currently, at 30 fps, it should be about 40 seconds. I trimmed this up to get it that small and can trim it more if needed.
In the other file I'm including the sound file that syncs with the animation. It is in mp3 format and could possibly be off sync with your rom and/or settings due to either a slower or faster boot up. Thus, you may need to play with the fps to get it just right. Don't forget that THIS file needs to be extracted.
Now, as far as the animation is concerned, you will need to rename the zip file to whatever your current boot animation file is named. It varies from rom to rom, but it could be botanimation.Zip or vzw_bootanimation.zip, etc. It's going to either be located in the system/media folder, or system/customize/resource.
If you want the audio to work (and this is usually a shot in the dark getting it right) place the extracted mp3 file in the same folder you're dropping the bootanimation file in. You may need to rename it to like, android_audio or something. If most of your system's sound files are not in mp3 format, you may have to convert it to whatever audio format they are in using some sort of sound editor (good luck with that).
Let me know if you have any requests to change this animation and let me know how it works for you!
Oh one more thing.. If you don't want to lose your current botanimation forever, simply rename it to some thing else so my file won't over write it.. Don't forget to change permissions and ownership on the files after you drop them in the folder.

cant convert the .mp3 into .wav
I will do it for you tomorrow or you can do it by using the free computer program I use: Wavepad sound editor. Once installed, you can right click the mp3, click edit, and once the app opens, "save as" and you can select wav. I will upload it tomorrow if you haven't already done it. How is the bootanimation? I had to up my frames to 80 since my phone boots too fast

Trying to learn how to create themes. Taking me a while but when I do, this will be my first project. Also, I'll incorporate a few of the ideas I've read in your thread.
I know there's been posts about this already and I've tried about 3-4 different apps already attempting to gain this functionality, so far with no success.
My old Tilt2 running Windows Mobile 6.5 had a BUILT-IN ability to record BOTH side of the phone call simply by pressing a menu button and then selecting "Record" DURING the call, which means I could choose exactly when I wanted to record, I didn't have to know in advance and I didn't have to record the whole call. I could go back to that same menu and "Stop Recording" just as easily and then the recording would show up in the Voice Recorder app file list. (they were saved as .amr files)
I have yet to find an application (free or paid) that provides this same functionality (and preferably the same ease of use and simple features) for the Android system, and I've been looking since I first got my Epic 4g back in May with Froyo 2.2 on it. I've got GB on it now, are we ever going to get an app or a build or rom that has this feature in it?
Thank you.

Background on this topic:
In previous threads on this topic in the Epic forums, it has been stated that it is against the law in some states to record a conversation without notice to & consent of the other party/parties.
That said, in all of those threads since the Epic's release--I've yet to see an app recommendation that panned out for those seeking such functionality.

My old PalmOS Treo had that feature, and it was perfect! Have been looking like you for that would work on the epic with no luck.
It was helpful when recieving important info while driving and not having to pull off to the side of the road and try to write things down with pen and paper!

I have only used my recorder on my Treo twice in 2 years. But the times I did use it was when someone gave me super long instructions on something I can't remember, so instead of saying to the caller, call me back when I at home in about an hour (which is an inconvenience to both of us) and when I am by my computer and have a pencil and paper, I simply continued the conversation. Then when I did get home I just wrote that information down at my convenience.
It's like have All Wheel Drive in a car, most of the time you don't need it, but it sure is nice when you have it.
Obviously you have never had a need for anything so mundane, as you are always in the perfect situation, so why the heck do you need a wireless phone? Stick to your corded phone, that's all you need, oh wait, you probably have a wireless phone. You must be one of those creepy guys too!

Not creepy, trying to be SAFE while driving and when someone is giving me instructions, or their address or phone number or when I'm on the phone with HP tech support and at the end of the call they want to give me a really long case number, there are a thousand legitimate reasons to need to have the ability to record portions or the entirety of a conversation while on the phone. When you have a 2hr commute each way to work and back, you spend a lot of time on the phone and frequently get information that needs to be written down, which I can't do while driving...not SAFELY at least.
Why was this so simple for the OLD Windows WM6.5 to accomplish yet the much more improved Android can't? Is it the OS or the phone manufacturer's that are preventing this feature???
~Z
I think it's a built in function in the MIUI ROM. I'm pretty sure on my last call I saw that feature...
Edit: yup, just checked and it's there. It's a stable ROM, you may want too check it out.

I could use this in several aspects my business dealings... I would live to be able to confirm verbal contracts over the phone, create action items during conference calls while in the car & to capture confirmation #'s when paying bills over the phone just to name a few. Essentially, some of u just don't get it & automatically think the worst which shows your train of thought and personality all to well.

Well, I'd say we've confirmed that there's definately a market for such a program on our device, if not others. I guess the trick is, and unfortunately I'm not a phone or android expert, I have to revert back to one of my original questions to see where to go with this. The developers here are pretty damn good and usually fill in whatever requests are out there for apps/mods to satisfy our requests. So is the reason why there isn't already a call recording program then the fault of the phone's themselves? I've heard that some people have had complete success with a program, but only with a specific model of phone. Others say that they get only microphone input...
Is the hardware truly limiting the ability or can we find a really nice and good dev who could get around any hardware limitations (at least on the Epic) and get this ability working finally?

Hello Mates.
I feel that Earphones and Calls on this phone is not Loud enough for a Powered Audio Device like this.
So i was wondering: since there's no working flashable supersu.zip, and Magisk doesn't let me edit System Files, in this case i'm talking about Mixer_Paths.xml on the folder "/vendor/etc".
1 - Is there any other way to edit this file?, since mounting R/W doesn't work and changing permissions is denied.
2 - Is there any MOD or Magisk Module that let's me edit system files? or that let's me Increase Sound Volume?.
Please help cause this is the only thing that's keeping me from loving this phone , i know that since this is a gaming phone there are a few less good things but i'm good with it because to me Design, Audio and Performance is the most important, and photos are good enough on this phone.
Thanks
Edit:
About solution, i created a new thread with the solution here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nu...lls-volume-t4154475/post83373375#post83373375 .
Givi it a look ?.

EDIT I did receive a reply on my question about in call ui (small pictures-typical of most OEMs these days)
Hello thanks! so I should have made myself more clear but was also curious about the solution. I do not own the device but am considering getting one-so wanted to know solutions and possibly answers to common things (volume (am all for high incall volume and loud ringers , loud playbacks, brightness etc). I did take a look at your solution and will use it once I get the device. Not too much into the more complex stuff but flashing zips for the mixer xml is up my alley. One question: I asked this elsewhere but maybe you can answer this. How does the call UI and contacts interface look? Not that this phone is necessarily for eye candy ui, want to know if you have full size contact pictures or those small round ones (that appear in the top middle of the screen during a call) If you could post some screenshots or pictures that would help. If you can. Let me know. This device with its unlocking ability and some development is getting my interest. Appreciate it.
