had 5.3 for about 4 days , installed tons of apps , had 2 days battery life average , fast and smooth , no reboot , love the transparent lockscreen , vpn worked , ...
very good rom
but switch to WhiteXperience just for the fun
My WiFi connection seems to go sour every now and then. It LOOKS connected but nothing works. I turn WiFi off and on again, and everything is fine.
No obvious issues apart from that.

Go back to v 5.0?
Flash another Rom??
I had an issue similar to this a while back, I suggest running scandisk or similar on your SD card. It worked for me.
The problem is in your microSD.
Format it and make a new partition!

try to format your sdcard to another phone. in my case on my blackbery.. formating sdcard on PC IMHO doesn't erease your partition. i have 2,63GB left aftere format on PC and about 3,xxx(i can't remember) after format from my blackberry
I had this problem. Had 5.3 on my phone and no matter what i did. None of the apps i downloaded would install, There was no APN list and if i did add a new APN it just wouldn't save and it was way way too buggy so i went straight back to DeFroST for reliability and all my problems were gone straight away.

I had the same problem. I flashed 5.3 ROM with standard sense theme without wipe on 5.2 with expresso theme.
I reflashed with 5.3 expresso theme without any wipe and all went fine.

I have an interesting problem, kind of. Bought my phone second hand as supposedly unlocked & debranded but on boot up it after the HTC logo I get the Virgin Media logo, not really an issue though. Anyway the problem is when I switch the phone off and then switch on again it boots up fine to the home screen and then it will reboot itself and carries on doing this. i.e. boot up to home screen then reboot again continuously.
To get out of this reboot loop I have to remove the sim & boot the phone with no sim in it then switch off and insert my normal Vodafone phone sim and switch on again. after that the phone is fine until I power down and then the same thing happens.
Anybody else experienced this or got any ideas?? It came with 1.15.405.4 firmware already installed and I have tried reflashing with the same firmware using the goldcard method & it worked but the problem remains. When the sim registers on the network is when the reboot loop seems to start.
did you try reflashing it ?
hold down the side button (down) and press on at the same time.
then select erase data and press on again
if you bought it second hand, its hard to say what the previous user has done with it ...
Yep tried reflashing it, just about to reflash again with an older rom. It's just wierd that a sim card authenticating to the network would cause a reboot loop.

Maybe it's a dumb question - But I'm having some issues that doesn't seem to get solved by a factory reset - Would it be an idea to reflash it for this, so the phone gets a fresh rom?
How would I do it specifically? Do you know of a guide somewhere?

have you tried a different sim card ?
Ye tried a different sim card, boots fine and all is good till you reboot the phone and then the same happens again. Anyways flashing was a disaster this time round as I was doing it on my work pc and Symantec kicked in thinking it found a virus with adb.exe and halted the process & quarrantined the file. Now everytime I try and reflash on a different PC I get the dreaded error(110):file open error. Disconnect the phone & all I get is a black screen & HTC logo. Nice. Thanks Symantec you've just bricked my Desire!!
*UPDATE* - Fixed.
Removed the battery, left it for a few hours then reflashed on a different pc and it flashed fine. Then thought I'd try & repeat so reflashed with the older rom from here (originally used the newer rom posted on Modaco) and got the error again and again couldn't flash back to the newer. Removed the battery left for an hour and then could reflash again and get it working!! Wierd
I had the same problem.
My Solution: remove battery, remove the SIM, put battery reboot, turnoff, remove battery, put SIM, put battery, boot
first i want to excuse my bad english, hope you will undestand what i´m trying to say.
i have the same problem since a few days.
first time i notice it,was when the desire was charching and i used it a bit,it restarts again and again.so i put out the battery and wait a few minutes, than it works.
it´s also, when i use it a long time with wifi or 3G....the the phone turns off and i have the boot loop.
but when i take out my sim,it works fine.
my question is,do i need a new sim or is it a hardware problem?
does anybody know?
greetz from germany!
sorry, wrong thread

i have the exact same problem!! any solution? after that the phone will boot loop over and over! damn!
I had the same problem last week.
I suspected it had to do with the EXT3 partition.
Solved it by first flashing the OTA 2.2 ROM (for rooted users) as this does not use the EXT3. Then used Rom manager to recreate the EXT3.
Now all ROMs that use the EXT3 run fine!
hmmp
as long as i know, i did not install anything on my phone lately so thats the problem so far and i think tequila98 also having the same problem as me, cause when i remove my sim card the phone works fine. but ive reset my phone yesterday and not restarting so far hope this will continue.
I really wished there was a dead fix to this problem we are all having!
My problem:
My phone was running fine until a few weeks ago. There was no rebooting problems when I first got my phone (April) and when I flashed my phone for the first time (May). Happened a few weeks ago when I was browsing on YouTube where my phone suddenly restarted on it's own.
Before it was once a couple of days, now it has gotten more frequent and annoying.
I don't think the heat is the problem because I don't go on the internet much because of my data plan. I use wifi when I browse the web, youtube, etc. And I certainly don't use Google maps or any heavy duty applications. That's just what I think...
My phone rebooted 3 times today in a time span of 4 hours? I noticed that my phone rebooted itself when I use the camera to take a picture or video. Doesn't happen everytime, but that's what happened today. Also, when my phone rebooted today, my application Advanced Task Killer was automatically removed from my phone! That was weird... But I experienced another reboot even after having the app removed.
I really hope someone can find the core of this problem and fix it!
My phone is running on DeFroST 2.0b Android 2.2
My battery stats: 42% for display, 26% for cell standby, 21% for phone idle, 4% for android system, 3% for voice calls, 2% for android OS

It's probably hardware problem with motherboard. Therefore I recommend you to take your phone to repair center and they should replace mobo with new one. That's what I did and now everything is ok.
I am having the exact same problem. Seems to be related to the SIM.
But the SIM works fine in another phone.
Did anyone find any more information?
If you get random reboots its most likely ther motherboard there is a massive thread about it on the forums. You need to send it off to a HTC repair centre.
Just got this problem.
I rooted yesterday. Today I made a nandroid backup. After that the phone is in a reboot loop.
How is this possible from just and backup???
Tnx.

Edit:
Restored backup and is working fine again.

I will try it. Maybe the backup is not only a backup but also a remove? Strange.
I will comment if this works also for me.
EDIT: Restore helps
Hello,
I'm experiencing random reboots with the custom roms I'm trying out. So far this is happening with SGBS 1.1 and Cool VisionS v7.
The reboots happen when I use the phone, could be while playing music, using maps, or a task manager. Sometimes the phone is stable for a day, sometimes it reboots every few minutes.
Always wiped everything before installing the rom, and also tried wiping after to try to solve the problem. Also, reinstalling the roms didn't help.
What could be the cause (and solution)?
Poor hardware.
my sense UI also keeps restarting, gingerburst rom... 1gb data2sd

Tried the stock Desire Froyo rom and now also getting restarts. Happens during installing stuff from the market now. Everytime I try to install something from the market, the phone restarts after a few secs.
Any idea?

to be honest though I had some random restarts awhile back - happened about after 4 days or so - but it went away after a few reflashes

U just messed up something, try also to reformat ur sd card from ur phone (first do a backup of the sd card content)
my Desire suffered badly from random reboots and the only way it was fixed was with a warranty repair with HTC. They replaced the main board. For me just using maps was enough to send it into a boot loop
Thanks for the replies. Turns out that a repartitioning and reformat of the SD card did help. A MB replacement may not be necessary if things keep working like they do now.
Thanks!
I had in the last days same issue and i sent my device to the service center. They changed my motherboard. It's hw problem bro, send it to htc, good luck

I have a T-Mobile G2, rooted, running MIUI on the phone and GingerVillain on the sd card via boot manager. Everything has been running perfect, no errors or issues or anything like that with either rom except facebook wouldn't install on GV, but I wasn't worried about it because I wasn't going to be using GV as my daily driver. The most recent, and probably only change in a while was that I installed the new facebook IM app on MIUI? I also updated MIUI a few days ago, but that was long before any of this happened.
Last night my phone was working fine, drove my wife to work this morning and I was using google music and streaming was working fine, then I got home and turned on my hotspot to get on my laptop and my data isn't working. So I tried booting GV to see if it worked there and I get a message "System UIDs Inconsistent" and it basically told me I needed to wipe my phone for everything to work right? I really don't want to have to do this.
I've uninstalled the rom on my SD Card, fixed permissions, wiped dalvik, reflashed miui, just about everything I can think of.
Any other suggestions?
BTW 2G data is working. Just everything else that wont work. I see in my status bar that its uploading but not downloading -_-

Probably the cleanest solution HERE
So I'm having more problems with my freshly rooted Evo 4g.... I'm still running the Decks Reloaded rom however I did a fresh install and removed the fancy launcher that you can load with it which helped my phone to run a lot smoother and faster but all of a sudden my wifi won't connect to my home network. It cycles through obtaining an IP address then says it's not in range even though my phone is sitting right next to it. I rooted my bf's phone yesterday loaded the same decks reloaded rom on his and his wifi is working just fine.... I tried Wifi fxr from the market place but no luck. I need help this is driving me crazy.
Update to my problem I have no 4g as well.... so frustrated right now.
happened to me once on a different rom--what i did was enable wifi and powered off, when I rebooted everything was fine
What sezzme said could work. If not, its not your phone, its the ROM probably and if your having issues with a lot of ROMs, MAKE SURE YOUR SD CARD IS PARTITIONED
Thanks guys I'll try that.... I went back to my clean working nandroid backup did a good solid wipe then reloaded the rom. Wifi was working and then I had to reboot my phone (I can't remember why...) and then it quit working again. I'll try your suggestion and if that doesn't work well then I guess I'll try another rom.
When you say my sd card should be partitioned does that mean I should format it and then partition it???
Also just tried to turn on the wifi and reboot the phone that didn't work.

Yes. For 2 months i wasn't partitioned, and certain files when flashing ROM's and files, require a partition or something along those lines, Its just how it operates in a way. After i partitioned, my issues went away completely. Idk the specifics though.
Anyways, drag and drop your personal files from your phone, look up a partition guide, and knock yourself out, then wipe and reflash.
Great I'll give that a try.
just remember.. .just because that rom works on your bf's phone doesn't mean it will work on your phone.. .even though they are both evos, they may not work the same with custom roms

glad you got it working
I just got a new G3 because my old G3 was having sim card reading issues. I'm trying to transfer everything from the old to the new*– and I mean everything: ROM, apps, contents of the internal SD card, etc. etc.
What is the best, most painless way to do this? The old phone, fwiw, is rooted with Cloudy installed as well as G3 Tweaksbox and some Kernel tweaks; the new one I haven't touched yet and is fully stock.
Thanks!

Do a full backup in recovery, move it to the SD card and restore it in the new phone's recovery. Are you sure that the sim card issue isn't a Rom issue? I had this problem on Fulmics, flashed DU and had no problem since.

I'm fairly certain it's not a ROM issue, as my phone was working fine on Cloudy for months, but after a tumble started having issues recognizing the SIM, even after replacing it with a new SIM.
The issue comes up upon reboot; it seems that if I squeeze the phone tightly during the reboot around where the SIM card is, it will recognize it and then everything works fine, but if it was booted without being squeezed it won't recognize the SIM until a squeezed-reboot.
That seems like a pretty definitive hardware issue to me?

Yep, really seems like a hardware issue. But after you do your full backup and put it on the new phone you could try to install a AOSP Rom just to try out, but thats up to you.
