I have 122 contacts on my phone, HTC contacts is saying there is 46mb taken up. Is this right or am i using way too much memory for my contacts

Understood that contacts, by default, have to be saved in the internal memory. I wonder if anyone knows a third party software that enables me to save contacts to storage card.
I got more than 5000 contacts, my 8525 internal memory cannot handle that much data. Yes, I understand I can do a mess delete or group the contacts into different categories. These are my next step IF I cannot find a good contact management software.
PIM Backup
Thanks, but I am not talking about backup. My Hermes does not have enough memory to handle 5000 contacts.
Hi,
now I have a really weird problem.
I had my contacts in the phone database. Then I've setup a syncml server and a syncml-account on the desire and synced all contacts into the syncml-account on the desire.
That worked pretty good. So I wanted to delete the contacts in the phone-database and use just the syncml-account.
I deleted some contacts from the phone database but not all.
Here comes the weird part:
The Contact-Application shows me that 0 contacts are stored on the the phone. All Contacts are stored in my syncml-account.
But if i press "search contacts" all contacts show up twice. One time with the syncml-accountname and one time with the addition "phone (not synced)".
How can I get rid of the "old" contacts still in the phone-database?
I tried to erase them through the application-control but that didn't change anything.
The title says it all, i have just hard reset my phone, installed no apps and already am getting a low memory notification
If i sort my applications by size it shows that the largest is 'contacts storage' which is currently taking up 70mb
the second largest application is google maps which is 5mb...
i only have about 10 contacts and then the rest is synced via facebook where about 50 email addresses have been added.
is this right?
Alright so I moved from a HTC G2(android phone) to the samsung focus s(windows phone) and tried to move my contacts over from my gmail account. All the contacts synced and i can see peoples names but most my contacts show no phone number. On gmail i can see their phone numbers but it wouldn't sync over. This is because windows phones do not sync contacts that are not WORK HOME MOBILE. most of my numbers were OTHER so it wouldn't sync over. I exported the contact list and edited the cell that says PHONE 1. I changed all the contacts that said other to mobile and re-synced gmail to windows phone and all the contacts went through. Now all the contacts have the phone numbers they're suppose to instead of being blank.
My next attempt!
Wipe current contact list.
Get old Droid phone. Go into contacts, click menu(bottom left usually) import/export. Export to SD card. It becomes 00000001.vcf by default. Now take that sdcard and insert into windows phone and import then in a way similar to the export.
Good luck

Hello,
how to select only contacts stored in phone memory to be visible in phonebook?
I want to hide duplicates created by whatsapp and other IM apps.
