Radio Rom Downgrade? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have flashed the newer Radio Rom so i could flash a 2.2 rom, but am having same smallish issue with 2.2 roms.
If i go back to a 2.1 rom will i need to downgrade my radio rom to an older version or is it ok to use newer radio?

If going back to a 2.1 based rom, use one of the 4.xx.xx.xx radio's as they are intended for Eclair roms.
For Froyo 2.2 roms, use the relevant 5.xx.xx.xx radio.
The 5.xx.xx.xx radio's are not intended for Eclair roms so yes, you will have to downgrade back to 4.xx.xx.xx.

As far as I'm aware, the new radio is specific to froyo. It can cause some issues on 2.1 roms.
I'm sure I seen someone post that they had problems.
You can downgrade exactly the same way you updated anyway though. Just make sure you remember not to interrupt the flash.

Thank you for your answers MasDroid/socktug.
Does someone know where to download a 4.xx.xx.xx as all i can find are 5.xx.xx.xx radio roms.

You will find them HERE

Thank you again, have now downloaded 32.37.00.32U_4.06.00.16_2, will downgrade and back to 2.1 rom later.
Thanks again.

Official 2.2 rom?

Hey guys,
I'm using desire with os 2.1 and know that 2.2 is releases in europe already. How do I flash to the official 2.2 rom? I do not want to try other cooked roms.
Thanks!

I just did this

I got my 2.2 update file here http://hotfile.com/dl/58947725/9565...8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30.zip.html
Is there not an official RUU for 2.2 yet?
Personally I'd think very carefully before flashing the official rom. Prepare yourself for things not working as well as 2.1.
Rumour has it that HTC is already preparing a patch. IMO I wouldn't do it as there is no going back. Much better rooting and flashing the official OTA rooted version so you can have a play. If you take a nandroid backup before you flash you can then very easily restore the 2.1 rom after you are disgusted with all the broken stuff
Equally flash a custom rom that applies fixes to the broken bits and be happy

I hope the rumors true.
Thats the only reason im looking at a 2.2 RUU.
My 2.1 unbranded OTA'd to 2.2, and handfree over BT is broke, HTC Music app crashes when the Navigation app speaks, and a few other minor bugs here and there...was hoping that a 2.2 RUU would fix all that, that it was a broken install....?
I see. So in that case, a cooked rom of 2.2 will work better in that sense?
my 2.2 works perfect but i dont use Bluetooth as I prefer points than to wear one of the gay little headsets lol

[Q] 4.05.00.11 Radio download

Does anyone have a link to download this radio version from? The Official Stock Radio thread only has 5.x links
thanks
Why do you want an old radio? 720p won't run on it and it'll likely crash your phone if you're on a FroYo-based ROM
If your rooted and planning on staying that way then there is absolutely no reason what-so-ever to downgrade your radio back to one that old, newer radio's only bring newer and better things to your phone.

[Q] 2.2 or CM7 on DEFY

I am new to the Android phone, and I purchase the Defy on last sunday, I like this phone and those function, but I am thinking to upgrade the firmware to 2.2, the salesman say it can be download 2.2 OTA at April, but after a week and there is still nothing.
So now I am thinking upgrade to CM7, one question, after installed the CM7, can it downgrade to the original 2.2 OTA?
Also I am focusing to the Hotspot feature. Is it work fine?
my phone version is
2.59.0.MB525.Retail.n.CH18
firmware version
2.1 update1
Yes, i have done that tomorrow. I don't like some modifications that i was used to, in the contact list, that have changed in the CM7. I'm gonna wait to another version to see if will get better what i want.
it seems like cm7 is still in beta-mode if i was u i would wait untill a stable verison comes out
If you don't want to be flashing fixes every other day i recommend not going with CM7. It runs great for light usage but it has many issues for now.
I recommend going with a 2.2 rom like my EphuNord. It is a clean Blurless 2.2 rom with a few modifications to allow easy themeing. I also uploaded around 8 themes.
If you follow the correct procedures you can always downgrade as far as 2.1 again if you need to.
thx for information, but which is the most stable for 2.2? I saw some post that some rom are not compatible?! Any recommandation? I want 2.2 or above.
I am lost on upgrade or not.
I want to update to ephnord 2.2
But want to downgrade back to 2.1
I am 2.51 uk(the phone came with it)

For Now 2.2 will be a better choice as the CM7 is its beta phases so let it come as a stable build...
N dude make sure while upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2 you does not lose ur downgradability and for that use the excellent work from fritolays so that u can downgade back to ur original firmware just by flashing 2.1 firmware of ur choice back...
Were can i find fritolays`s work, thanks in advance mate.

If you're newbie (or just want to use phone, not patch it every day), then better 2.2
fritolays's work here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977989
EphuNord is also good choise for you. They both based on latest official leaked 2.2 and very stable.
Thank u so much

[SOLVED] ROM or Radio first?

Hi there.
Erm.. this is kinda weird question, say that the ROM that you wish you flash requires a different radio from your current one, will you actually flash the new radio first then only the ROM?
Or you will flash ROM then only radio. Will there be any impact?
ROM first.
9 times in 10 it won't make any difference but there's a chance a ROM might replace the radio anyway.
Thanks Mr_JMM!
I think it doesn't matter..You only need to match your libhtc-ril and radio....

Yes, ROM first.
Mods: This thread can be marked solved and closed now I think.
However....
SOME ROMs when going from certain radio's to certain radio's have had reports that it is better to flash the radio before the ROM.
This seems to have cropped up with the latest GB Sense ROM's.
So I take it back, as a rule of thumb, flash ROM first, I still stand by that, however, check with the ROM first but be aware such things are usually buried deep in a thread and maybe something that gets fixed with later updated versions of that ROM.
Again. ROM first but when a brand new ROM comes out, specifically the new GB Sense ROM's, check the first 5-10 pages.
At time of post, LeeDroid's ROM v3.0.0 is one such ROM that might work better with Radio flashed first.
My apologies but this info is very very recent.
OK, that could make sense. Thought I stepped in deep doo-doo earlier, but rocked back to life with the nan backup. Scared me all to hell, but I might try flashing the radio, then LeeDroid. When coming from CM7 rc3 - It froze on boot.
I did radio first them ROM and had no issues.
iOO 4.2

[Q] Stock google roms

Sorry if this is a noob question but I did quite a bit of searching and could not find anything.
Is it possible to install stock google roms on a DZ? I would really like to install the latest version then have it update itself by OTA. My phone is rooted and currently running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
Thanks!
Id stick with cm7 from my personal experience its close to stock android Rome and it runs remarkably well

Yes, it is possible to run stock android roms on a DZ, there are several different variants out there right now. Just for example there's virtuous g-lite (look in the dev section or on virtuous' homepage) which is currently on version 2.3.5 I believe. A more up-to-date rom seems to be this one: 2.3.7 (please read the op, some issues still remain).
Though, as far as I know, you will not be able to receive OTAs as these are pushed to your phone by your carrier. If you want to receive OTAs on a DZ you will have to revert back to a stock sense rom.
Any ROM that works on the G2 works on the Desire Z (as long as you are rooted and S-Off, which you obviously are if you are on CM7). So if you want, just go to the Developement section and you will find pre-rooted versions of the G2 AOSP ("stock Google") ROMs. But make sure the ROM is pre-rooted. If you install an "official" ROM that is not pre-rooted, you will lose root, and need to go through the whole process again.
