Hi all, not sure if this is really in the right section but I'll ask away regardless.
I recent installed Black onto my Imate (thanks for the ROM and awesome info provided in this forum!) and also installed a 3rd party video player. I have since removed the vid player (it was crap) but all of the files that it associated itself with (mp3,avi ect...) are now not associated with anything and wont open unless I manually open them in the default players.
Is there a way to re-associate files with specific programs in the Black ROM?
Cheers.

Sktools allows you to change file associations. http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14288
Thanks mate. You don't know of a freeware program that might have that same bit of fuctionality at all?
OK now I feel really dumb. But the "File Types" Menu in that program only shows the "Backup Deleted Entries" option and nothing hat is listed in the help files.
Hi guys,
I am new to the forum and have just recently purchased the Blackstone (i am so in love with it). The only question i have not been able to find an answer to easily on this site is this, when i put music on the phone and play an album, it shows up proper in all the library tabs in the touchflo menu system. Here is what is making me insane. If i delete the album later on it will delete just fine in all tabs except for the now playing tab. No matter what i try i cannot get that section (tab) to blank out. I mean if you are not playing something or delete files from the computer it looks like that tab would erase entries, no? Also, the 2 sample songs that came preloaded when i delete them from my phone they never go away in the now playing tab. This is causing me great mental stress. . One of you more experienced users care to point me in the right direction or help me find the anser to this problem? TIA!!
Okay Ive looked everywhere for this question or answer, and it doesnt seem to exist, so I'll ask. Is there a hack, registry edit, or some unknown key sequence to add files to the library? Now before you all go nuts, I am not talking about the update library command. I have near 400 ringtones, plus mp3's plus videos. When I hit update library it updates everything it finds. I dont want that, I want to be able to choose what to add and not have to do it one file at a time. Is there a way to choose a folder and have it scan that folder only so this way the ringtones dont get added to the library?
And as a comment, it really sucks that there is no way to select more then one file, like selecting 10-15 files at a time in file explorer, really didnt want to add a third party software for such a simple command
is there a way to manage playlist from computer with any program rather than using the tf3d library? its kinda long to create many playlist
thanks
i wanna be able to organized my pics and music however i dont know how to make folders on my phone...its not rooted and i dont plan on to... so is there a way without rooting it? please help! many thanks!
If you are talking about folders on the home screen, just long press like you would to add an app, just hit folder instead.
If you are talking about on the sd card, use an app like Astro, or plug into a pc and add folders just like you would with windows.
I have been downloading music so that is available to play offline. However, when I wipe my phone I need to re download all of my music(obviously). I was wondering if there was any way to back up the downloaded offline music. I have found the folder where the music is stored and backed that up, but Google Music did not pick it up when I moved the folder back over to my phone. If anyone could shed any light on the situation I'd be very thankful!
did you try titanium backup?
I use Google Music a lot recently. What I figured out to do is to move the music files (that I uploaded to Google Music) to the music folder on my phone. Since the file names, tag data, etc are all the same Google Music treats them as if you downloaded them from Google Music (no duplicates or any weird stuff). So you always have a back up on your PC. I have a folder on my PC with music I specifically upload to Google Music. It makes it easier to keep track.
I hope that made sense...
That solution is easy and makes a lot of sense. But how are you guys downloading your music from the Google cloud? I understand you can download the entire library with the Google Music Manager program on your PC and then copy the files to your device (a bit combersome), but I've never been able to figure out how to download individual songs.
I've tried to get "comfortable" with the whole Google Music cloud thing, but I've got to say, I'm about ready to throw in the towel and go back to the Amazon MP3 app. Amazon has cloud storage too, but it's SO much easier to manage on your device.

You can "pin" tracks, albums, artists, or genres to the device so its local and not streamed. They're kept cached in a specific folder for Google Music's use only.

That's the "pin" I've been looking for. Still can't find it in ver 4.1.511. I guess, someday I'll take a few days off from work and do some extensive web research on Google Music. Then I just may find out how to use the dang app. They sure don't make it easy.

Just long press or hit the triangle in the bottom right of any category (an artist's name, for ex) and hit "available offline" checkbox. It'll then start downloading to the device for offline playback.
The way Google Music app stores the music files for "available offline", it doesn't save them in a normal folder as normal file.
It saves it in it's own random filename in the /android/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music folder. So when you wipe data/cache, this gets wipe.
If you look in settings/apps/ you can see Google Music app itself taking huge space.

Yes, I see that option now. Thanks. You usually have to hit the back button once to get to that page.

Theres also another way. Couldn't tell you where the option is on the Galaxy Nexus, but using ICS (or GB, for that matter) on my G2, you can hit menu > "make available offline" and then check multiple artists, albums, or songs.

Yep, that works too. Now you're making me feel stupid. But you just earned another hit on the "Thanks meter" to bring you up to an even 360.

Nah you're not stupid. Some things like that are quite unintuitive to say the least. I'd like to see Google keep moving towards putting functions in the foreground rather than hiding them. They're doing this with Android 4 they just gotta keep going with it.
