Hello,
I have finally got L2TP/IPSEC VPN working on my HTC Desire. My phone is rooted using unrevoked method.
Now the question I have is a simple one. I am trying to automate this so that its on all the time if there is a wifi or 3G signal present.
Inside the standard app it doesnt offer any save password features so I was going to make a script to dial and keep the connection up.
Now the problem I have is ive looked high and low for answers or hints/clues on how you go about doing this but its come up blank. I was hopping someone had a clue on how you do this?
I also have an OpenVPN setup and I can keep this up as the applcation has support for this but the issue is I get teriable performnce compared to my kernel based linux PPTP server. I do hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance,

Hello,
I’ve read tons of tread in the forum regarding VoIP but I still can’t get my thick heard round it. I’m massively confused I definitely need help.
I’m wondering if there is any simplify tutorial in the forum of how to install VoIP, Sip, pleasessssssssssss?
I’m currently running Black 2.5 – Radio Version 1.41.00.10-Rom Version 3.29.707.4
Do you have a SIP based softphone account with a VoIP provider yet? Alternately, have you installed asterisk or 3CX server?
Also, VoIP isn't fully sorted on black 2.5 yet to my knowledge.
VoIP & Radio help.
Currently I do not have VoIP account with any providers, do I need one to get the settings to the phone, if yes which provider would you recommend pls?
Secondly I haven’t installed any of the software mentioned in your reply yet, I thought I’ll bump into step by step guide in the forum do that.
I think the last paragraph of your reply answers my frustration really,Its a matter of wait till VoIP settle on Black 2.5. keep me Fingers cross.
Hey! Least I forgot, how do I stream radio on my Hermes? I have no problem connecting to T-mobile GPRS, as well as my USB wifi router. But for some reason it will just not connect to no online radio station. Do I need to install something??? Leave it to the expects to help. Thx

Got SIP response 481 "Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist" back from 192.xxx.xxx.xxx
hi ppl
i installed bepe's 0.73 rom (great work!!) to my trinity.
connection to my home wifi network works w/o problems. i get an ip-address, gateway address and dns-server (with the correct values of course ).
my problem is: i can't even ping the gateway (therefore of course also no browsing the web). under "einstellungen - netzwerkkarten", the wifi-adapter's setting is "internet" (and not work).
so any ideas how to solve that? any more info you would need for debugging?
thanks in advance, ize|man
so let me change my question: is there NOONE out there who has ever got problems with wifi? does anyone have a link to a trouble shooting faq?
pls .... i spent over 5 hours no without any solution
thanks ize|man
Hi.
I used to have that kind of issue with the wifi and most of the time I had to wait and wait for the wifi to get hooked up to the router, and like I said it was WAIT.
Everything seemed to be perfect, open wifi,WEP,WPA TKIP/AES,this used to happen with the first and second rom from HTC.So what I did was take a look at the router´s firmware and get and update,I also updated the rom of the phone and started with the cooked roms.
Waht you can do is,restart/reset the wifi ap or router it helps, make sure there´s no MAC filter, though it should work with the default settings.
I hope I can help you.
@dta1974
thanks for the help. i change from wpa to wpa2 and i worked. don't ask me why. my laptop did work with wpa w/o any problems.
so: problem solved
I have a similar problem but in my case it seems to be the power saving options for wifi. Have to turn em off completely to get it to work at all even though signal strength is 100%. Tried all types of encryption but same problem.
Heyy Solved my prblem too
I had the same problem (got ip from AP, but couldn't ping the device, nor navigate, etc).
Solved changing the power save mode !
Okay, so this is a really weird issue that I found out with my HTC Tilt2 while it was running Android, and I have a feeling it might have something to do with the WEP code (Even though I've tried it 20+ times...)
Anyways, whenever I try to connect to my home network on Android, it always goes through the same process of *Connecting...* *Sending...* *Connecting...* *Disconnected*, as if it just pings the router to check for a connection, then disables itself. Whenever I try it anywhere else however, I do not get this issue. I haven't found another location with another WEP key to try and see if its just that part of it that is unstable, but it's just a thesis. It's either that or my network, which, at this point, I wouldn't doubt if it was.
So... Anyone else getting or had this issue and solved it? Of connecting to a Wi-Fi network with a WEP key and getting *Connecting...* *Sending...* *Connecting...* *Disconnected*?
Edit: I did a bit more research and discovered that WEP is the only thing that doesn't work. Anybody got a reason other than it just doesn't work? Maybe something to do with the kernel or...?
WEP is an extremely insecure (unsecure?) protocol. Even if XDAndroid did support it, why would you want to use it? WPA/WPA2 are much, MUCH more secure and harder to crack than WEP is - with simple packet injection software, any 13 year old script kiddie can pop open your wifi.
I guess it is better than no security whatsoever if you are concerned about AP pirates, but not much. Every device in the last 5 years I'd say should support WPA/WPA2. So don't worry about WEP not being supported, it's horrid!
I think it is a kernel issue, but I don't see that being a priority for the devs to fix.

I looked into that a bit and just decided to upgrade my WEP to a WPA connection. Don't think my parents or brother we're too happy about me doing it, but from what you've said, it should be a lot better for both me and them.

Ha, well they only have to type in the new passcode once, assuming they save it!

Yep, and now I kind of understand why WPA is better than WEP. If you can figure out the paraphrase code behind it, then it's all easy to decode and translate and get someone's WEP code. Plus, it's a open encryption (which I think you already stated)
The more you know XD
WiFi connection issue
I AM CURRENTLY RUNNING MY TOUCH PRO 2 WITH HTC Rhod.2.1.Sense.061610 WITH KERNEL FROM AUG 30 2010, ALL I DID WAS FROM HTC Rhod.2.1.Sense.061610 CHANGE THE KERNEL AND ZIMAGE AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING ALRIGHT FOR ATLEAST FOR 1 DAYS BUT ONLY PROBLEM THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH THIS BUILD IS THE BATTERY DRANNING OUT SO FAST CAN'T EVEN GET 4 HRS OUT OF IT......BUT WIFI, SOUND, IN CALL AUDIO EVERYTHING IS WORKING EXPECT AS ALL WE KNOW THAT BT , CAMERA AND CAMCORDER IS NOT WORKING .......HAPPY TESTING ......FEEDBACK WELCOME

I have the exact same issue as you i just got android running on my TP2 and get the connect disconnect issue, i was just wondering if you could shed any light on how to switch my network from WEP to WPA, cheers

It's on your router. You change the security setting on your wireless settings from WEP to WPA. Then any PC/device that connects to your router wirelessly will have to type in the code again.
Could you elaborate more by "it's on your router" do you mean going to the actual model numbers router and connection to it? or can it be done through internet configuration on the computer

You have a wireless router correct? There's a configuration page on that router where you secure it with a password - is this not familiar to you? Router's don't ship with wifi secured, you have to put the password on the router...
There's a configuration page you need to go to figure it out. You can put your make/model router in portforward.com to see the steps to get into your particular router.
Thank you for the help, i have now changed the password and switch from WEP
Hi guys,
I opened this new thread because I already tried the search tool, even the google search, but nothing came up for the Xperia Play.
My question is, is there a way to change the wi-fi MAC address on the Xperia Play?, the reason I want to do that is because I think somebody at my job blacklisted my device from the wi-fi... some co-workers can get into the wifi network while some of us don't.
All our phones detects the WIFI network, all of us have the password (ok somebody smuggled it for us heheh )
A month ago I was able to do so, and no problem whatsoever, then it just started to get stuck while obtaining the IP address, then, disconnects from the network and get into an infinite loop not being able to sign into the network, while my desk neighbor not so-smart phone (samsung marvel) keep getting connected using the same password, so my first thought was it was only blocking smart-phones by MAC prefixes or android signature ... whatever
But yesterday another co-worker brought his just purchased Samsung Galaxy PRO (which looks like a Blackberry, but running android ), and to my surprise he did got into the wifi network without any issue (using the same password I use and gave him for trial), so I'm now pretty sure they blacklisted by MAC address
Well I manage to convince my buddy to share the network via tethering as a work around, and IT WORKED.
Anyone have an idea if what I'm thinkind is possible (being MAC blacklisted) and also if there's a way to change it on my PLAY runnin Gingerbread 2.3.3 un-rooted with stock SE SW.?
Thanks
I'm not at the pc now. Search my posts for bluetooth address with references to pocketnow tutorial for different device. Maybe you can make it work on xplay. I got one step closer locating one of the address files in one of the posts but no further. Don't know if you can do it without root.

dam it lol ill post it again later on
Thank you. If you know how to change bluetooth as well I will be very grateful.

Thanks guys, I will look for root then

Hello everybody,
i have some Problems with my Galaxy Nexus GSM and Voice over IP. When i use Stock-ROM it works Perfectly. But every Custom-ROM have problems with it. When i get a call i can't hear the opposite. But he could hear me perfectly.
I use the voip support into the phone app from ICS. But also other apps don't work 'sipgate, sipdroid'
I except problems with my firewall because on stock it is working and on pc, too.
Now my question is, anybody else got problems like this?

I've had success with the integrated SIP client, but it has too many quirks and Verizon's network periodically blocks SIP by interfering with the Authorization headers (they strip them).
The problem is that it seems the Android SIP client interop testing was done against an Asterisk system and is very half-baked. It's like they got it working with one IP-PBX in the lab and figured it was good enough for wide use.
Regardless, that's not your question...
One-way audio is typically a firewall or NAT issue of some sort. What VoIP provider are you using? Is this your own IP-PBX system you're running at home? I do VoIP professionally so I can help.
I'm using sipgate it is an free provider here in Germany. If this is an Firewall/NAT problem my question is why it works with stock rom and pc and not with custom-Rom? It is confusing.
Im realy no expert in voip, my scheme is to have an landline number into my phone when i am at home. So i could receive calls on an landline. Because there are flatrates for landline but not for mobile here. The VoIP only must work over WLAN not with 3g.
thanks for the trouble
regards
I wish I could help more... I know these phones are finicky at times and do odd behavior. My wife's phone recently started to forget that it has an earpiece and microphone. Then, out of nowhere, it remembered that it did, but forgot it can vibrate. All of this survived multiple re-flashes, wipes, different ROMs... This phone is borderline terrible.
Are the ROMs you are working with all AOSP? 4.0.4? What version is the stock ROM? As a US user on a CDMA network, my ROM choices a very limited.
If you're comfortable with Wireshark, a perfect way to test thing would be packet captures. Compare the SIP headers between a working ROM and a failing ROM. If you find a real problem, you could get credit for a fix.
