[Q] most stable froyo rom? - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay this might not be the right place but I got a question.
What is the most stable froyo rom out there for the slide atm?
Meaning with full working keyboard lights, button or as close as possible. Along with the camera and camcorder working great. Just mostly everything working as good as possible. If you could, can you guys give an input on whichever rom. I really appreaciate it because the scene is booming with roms and updates for them. Thank you again in advance

CM6 RC1 is pretty stable, but you might prefer using the Eugene or teamfenix Froyo roms. Worth giving them all a try. I'm currently using the CM6 nightlies.

I just installed the new Cyanogen 6.0.0 RC1, and so far it is stable, however it is the first froyo rom I've tried, so I cannot compare to others. However, camera/recorder works, wifi works (haven't tried tether yet). No FC's yet, and a2sdfat seems to be working without issue.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! Ill definately be looking into them.

How about swype? I thought the advantage of team fenix was the ability to install swype. Has this been solved on CM6 RC1?

I installed Swype with no problem on Cyanogen's new FroYo ROM. I took the .apk from the kanged/remixed page's Swype link and used Astro to install from SD.

Which froyo sense ROM do you use?

I know, such a question is asked every day but since the froyo OTA was released many roms changed completly and many new roms were created, too.
Unfortunally I dont have the time to test all of them, so I just wanted to ask for your suggestions
Which froyo-sense-rom do you use and is it worth flashing?
I have to say that I really haven't used any other custom ROM, but I've stuck with LeeDroid too. I'm currently using 1.6a as it has been perfectly stable with lots of nice apps not included in other ROM's. I love it also because it's updated almost daily. I'm still using 1.6a since 1.7 is based on the official HTC Froyo ROM and it's not as stable yet. I'm waiting until it's as flawless as 1.6a and upgrading then
on stock froyo 2.2 rooted (hboot .80) cause I can't be flashing custom roms for fixes daily. Need a stable (doesn't have be super speedy) rom with froyo and rooted for everyday use!

Exactly the same for me atm - would like to have a daily useable rom which is built from the ota. Maybe I will give 1.7b a try
From the beginning I've only wanted root access with the stock HTC ROMs as my daily use. I rarely flash additions and whatever I do is for long term use. I don't have time for problems and fussing around with new variables, bugs and shortcomings. Stock MFG ROM releases generally have excellency in stability, consistency, integrity and reliability which is exactly what I'm after. So I'm using the rooted HTC 2.2 ROM. Every mod or hack I needed is working on it. Battery life is still excellent. I couldn't be happier.

im using nextsence, i usually prefer stock roms over custom roms but this one is sweet, its like the stock rom but with a cool theme
I'm currently using the LeeDroid 1.7 Froyo ROM. Its working a treat for me at the moment, not crashes or stability issues, my only concern is that when having to reflash ROM's all the time that I will keep losing my apps. Though i'm told this is not the case if you use A2SD/A2SD+
I tried flashing 1.7b, but got no APN and couldnt add them manually. So i switched back to 1.6a

I used to have CM on my g1 too for long time...
I really love the sense widgets - and I can't find good replacements for them in the market
Only one choice imo if you want a stable & fast Froyo Sense. Neophyte 1.6.
Seriously - I've tried nearly every Rom including LeeDroid and this one is so much better than all of them.
atm I'm using Leedroid 1.8.
Really stable Rom - didnt see any bugs yet...

eMIUI. Youtube it. You will love it.
I tried Oxygen 2.0 RC6 (w/ Gingerbread) and it's lovely, only it absolutely kills my battery, wifi, gps etc all off, I'm lucky to get 3 hours of screen-on before it's dead.

if thats ment as a joke, its not a good one. its fully readable, even my little sis could read this. Well guess the little line at the bottom of the thread text says it "any good and bad opinions are welcome".. but would be great to actually suggest a ROM that i havn't tried. Anyway i chanegd to CM 7! i did not try that ROM, so i am trying it now. And so far its the best Gingerbread ROM avalible.

Worth it to flash cm7?

Main concern: I want an extremely stable rom, as close to stock as far as reliability.
That said, should I try out this gingerbread rom? Or is there another froyo rom I should try? I've already tried incrom (too many fc) and SR 3.5 (messed with reception) so I don't want to use those.

Not really. RC2 just dropped and its almost flawless. i would wait till tonight nightly comes out. they said its going to be worth it.
in the mean time i would back up your apps and contacts. make a nandroid and watch the cm7 nightly thread to know when it drops.

If you're looking to play around with something different that is still rock solid stable i'd check out MIUI. It'll keep you entertained, has lots of nice features and has been rock solid for me with invisiblek #28 kernel for months now.
Well, did you flash cm7 yet? ; )

[Q] GB 2.3.4 GTalk w/video & voice keeps force closing in CM7

I tried to get GTalk with voice and video working using the method in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062980
After following the directions and opening GTalk I see the video icon in Gtalk, but when I press it I get a FC.
If I initiate a video or voice call from my PC to the phone, the phone will show a GTalk FC.
I'm tried it with Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC and Savagedzen 2.1.0 BFS kernels with the same results. (I'm using CM 7.0.2.1)
I also tried changing the permission of the Talk.apk to RWX.
I know i'm close, I'm looking for any additional info. anyone who has this working with CM7 can give me
I don't have a particular fix for this, but thought i'd give a heads up that i just flashed the latest CM7 Nightly, which brings the phone up to 2.3.4.
I flashed the latest gApps and the GTalk with video is working PERFECTLY.
I guess what i'm trying to say is that if you are willing to move to Nightlies, it would work for you with a lot less effort.

Thanks for the info. I may give it a try.
Two questions;
1) Where are you getting gapps specifically for CM7 builds? I collected so many different GB gapps over the last two days that I've forgotten which version goes with which ROM.
2) Which kernel are you using with that nightly build? I was considering trying Tiamat 4.* (sic) with CM7.
There are two different links. Have you tried the one labeled "Test" yet? And I am having the same problem on Evervolv Wimacs b6.

1. Here's the most recent gApps that i used:
http://www.mediafire.com/?pq6ji8c0pl9kcq9
2. I use the stock CM kernel that comes with flashing there ROM. they put a lot of time and effort into it and i think it is underrated. It does me good, personally.
Thanks for the link. I'll have to give it another try.
EDIT: Flashed CM7-64 with the latest gapps (20110504, I think) and GTalk is working.
Thanks bweisholtz.

Diferences between CM7 RC1 v1 and v2

I just see there is v2 version. I dont see changelog anywhere so could somebody tell me please?
i really wanna know that too, anyone?
I haven't installed either, I'm still on RC0, but I've been following the development thread, and I read that rc2 has a different kernel (up to rc1 the kernel had been the same) Different kernels mean different drivers, and some people were complaining about the new wifi drivers. But other than that rc2 seemed mor stable. Any way, since neither fixes the camera yet, I've decided to stay with rc1, that I found really stable.

I did not ask for difference between RC0 and RC1.
I am interested in difference between two different versions of RC1. There is v1 and latest v2. I cannot find anywhere changelog between those two.
