Com.HTC.bgp FC - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I installed HTC sense weather and clock and now getting fc com.hTC.bgp
Anyway to restore these if I didn't do a backup with titanium?
Anyone have the apks
Better yet anyone have a fix to these fcs

No? Thanks

hmmm, something tells me that you may not be using a sense rom? Those apk's require a sense rom in order to use because they are intertwined. Trying to use those on a non-sense rom will result in FC because the required framework files are not available.

I am using fresh 3 def a sense rom but stupidly I used titanium bacup to uninstall htc stuff like clock and weather and calendar without researching the adverse effects odor removing them
Now I want to reinstall to get rid of fc com.htc.bgp

[Q] Disabling Sense to use Launcher Pro

I searched and couldn't find an answer
I am currently on rooted stock ROM. I want to basically disable the Sense UI and switch to Launcher Pro. How do I go about disabling Sense UI in favor of Launcher Pro?
I would just set Launcher Pro as default but I don't want Sense running in the background,
I do the same thing......after a while sense gets turned off until you launch it again

There is a thread with a flashable file to completely remove sense.

Thanks, but I don't necessarily want to flash something. I was thinking about using titanium backup and "Freezing" the HTC files. Would that work?
should work just fine you can remove everything sense but some of the HTC stuff must stay. I know for sure if you remove com.htc.socialnetwork.provider the phone starts having problems using sense or not. Just do a nand backup and start getting rid of all HTC's and Sense BS but make sure you do that nand because if you remove the wrong file you will get constant force closes and won't be able to restore it even if you have backed up through titanium.

Did a NAND yesterday. I'll try this. Thanks.
Go to appliactiosns, find sense, clear defaults. I think if you install another launcher they begin to compete for default status Nd android will ask you what you like to do inregaurds to which launcher will be default. Super easy. No flashing or hacking needed.

an alternative is there are scripts made that will remove sense and the known ok to remove bloatware/htc apps. one is linked in my signature. you flash the script just like a rom (follow instruction listed) once you have launcherpro set as your launcher. this will ensure it doesnt run and gives you the extra space in your phones memory.

[Q] How to keep homescreen settings with ROM change?

I'm running the stock deodexed 3.29 but want to try out some of the other ROMs out there.
I plan on doing a nand backup and a Titanium backup for my apps and app settings.
But, is there any way for me to save my homescreen settings and then apply them again once I've restored all my apps?
Titanium should backup all your icons and widgets as part of the launcher data. What launcher are you using?
Note that normal widgets can't be restored properly. They will show up in the right place, but it will be an error message instead of the actual widget, and you will have to remove and re-add them. I believe this is an Android limitation. The special LauncherPro widgets don't have this issue.
I'm just running stock Sense launcher, save for a couple Rosie/lockscreen mods.
It's just a pain in the butt to go back in and re-add all my quick contacts and icons. I swear I did a Titanium restore before when going from 3.26 to 3.29 deodexed, and it did not restore anything on my home screens (it went to full OEM stock homescreen setup). Not sure what I'm missing then.
It should be the [Desktop] HTC Sense option, IIRC. You might have to reboot after restoring to get it to show up.

Hmmm. It's currently backed up so I'm assuming it was last time I restored also. Well I'll give it a shot again and see what happens. Worst case, it takes me an extra few minutes to set things up.
It's a system app, so if you were just restoring user apps+data, it would've missed it. Other than that, I'm not sure. It's been a while since I used the stock Sense launcher and had to restore it.
Ok thanks.

[Q] Titanium backup and switching roms

Hello, I've been having problems with titanium backup while changing roms.
I usually run the batch backup of all apps + system data, and when installing a new rom I run the batch restore all missing apps+system data.
The problem arises when for example changing from myn rls5 to warm Z i got random force closes on apps all the time. Also when changing from myn rls5 to cyanogen mod 7 I got force closes when trying to open the sound configuration in th e menu.
Should I disable something when restoring the apps+data?
I like to mantain my contacts obviously and apps when switching roms, is there something I shouldnt restore when changing roms?

Please help on this one. I get the same problem myself with extra stuff.
Good question. I was about to ask that. Still in noob on this stuff.
it has been suggested that you back up your apps+data only, not the system. good luck

Especially if you are switching from sense to aosp or vice versa.
MIUI 1.2.25 with stock kernel

Which of the options in batch should I run? Backup all user apps? Does that store my contacts?
Sent from my PC36100
I backup my user apps in Titanium and backup my contacts and sms/mms using my backup root (just as extra precaution). After you wipe and put on a new ROM, as soon as you login into your gmail, your contacts and calendar are restored. But, whatever you do, nandroid!

Problems After Restoring to Stock

After using the Optimized Shift ROM for about a week, I felt like I was ready to return to the stability of the stock ROM, so I restored to Froyo/Sense 1.0 this evening. I used Titanium Backup to re-install my data after the factory reset, and most everything worked well. However, I have found that the HTC weather app cannot detect my current location (GPS is on and every other GPS-using app works fine), and no HTC wallpapers are showing up in the wallpaper selection app. These are both minor issues, and I'm sure they have something to do with Titanium Backup (since the weather widget worked before I restored apps and data), so is there anything I can do?
Thanks.
EDIT: The weather widget is sort of working now - my weather is showing up on the widget, but if I tap on the weather, my current location weather does not show up in the full app.
EDIT 2: And now the widget has completely stopped working again.
Did you flash a different radio while you were on the other rom?

No, I did not.
I'd try doing a full wipe and restoring/reflashing the rom without using titanium to restore. While it is convenient, it seems like it causes more issues than its worth. Are you restoring any app or system data? And did you wipe everything before going back to the stock rom?
I've had this issue before. I did a PRL update (*22899) and after my phone rebooted it was working. Give that a try.

[Q] ARHD 6.3 Skins, sluggish

Hello everyone, I am having a mild problem. When I open a skin I downloaded with a theme from my file manager, and click install, it says it installed. So I go to personalize, click skin, but they are never there. Just the 3 stock skins(burgundy etc.) with htc. Can anyone help me to get the skins to show?
Also on ARHD 6.3 and previous versions I get noticeable lag and slowness. I use quadrant as a comparative to what my phone will normally run. For instance on a fresh restart my phone hits about 2600 o/c at 1.69. After a couple hours of the restart I notice it gets slow and when loading webpages its very slow and when running intense games it gets slow, so I benchmark it and every time it gets slow I get around 1600. If I do another restart I'm back up to 2600 with extremely noticeable improvement. Any ideas why? Do I need to flash a different kernel or something? Please help and thanks!
what skin files r u trying to use? the HTC official skins shouldnt need to be installed via a file manager u just need login to the HTC Sense account and download it normally like in a stock DHD. any other skins that i know of you have to flash via CWM or EXT4 Recovery, unless u are using the no-sense ARHD of which u use ADW or LauncherPro or any other launcher.
I havent had a problem with the HTC official ones tho the flashed ones (themes by kalagas, he_stheone64, etc) have small bugs in it that causes it to be sluggish, for me it was the facebook that came with the flashed skin, updating facebook to the latest one fixed it.
apart from that, did u do a full wipe before hand with the Super Wipe script? u have to do a superwipe if you came from any other rom or ARHD6.2.0, also do not restore data or apps using titanium or mybackup, doing this creates slowdown bugs.
if u want to backup contacts or calendar just use the built in google account sync.
Another thing i can think of is make sure you untick "backup my data" or something like that under "privacy" in settings so the phone doesnt try to download sync data and apps from your previous rom. *Doing this wont affect the contacts or calendar sync. So when you boot the rom it will be clean and stock arhd.
hope it helps

I understand that for the HTC stock skins, I don't have a problem with those. I mean like the IceHD theme, and skin. When I go to install his skin after I get theme flashed it says it installed but I never see it as an option to change under personalize>skins like he had stated, as well as others.
As for ARHD, I had backup my settings enabled so I will see if this is the problem. But if I want to ever back up app data what should I use so I won't just get lag when I do?
You do realise the IceHD theme is for sense 3.5 he_stheone64 has not released one for Sense 3.0.
ARHD uses sense 3.0,
for ARHD you can use HoneyHD, BlueHD, etc; just make sure they're Sense 3.0 and as for them appearing in the menu they overwrite the basic HTC sense skin (the original skin on first boot).
If you want to use IceHD u need the Runnymede based roms with Sense3.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261721
why just use the ICS theme, why not flash ICS, its alright so far, im using the virtuous quattro RC1 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428047
Also ignore quadrant scores, since you might have installed different apps or some apps maybe updating in the background after a reboot, it will consume different CPU power at that time, so as long as it feels smooth its working fine. for ARHD install the 90% super smooth rosie under custom modifications, it will limit the 3d effect of the homescreen to reduce lag.
The sluggishness in the middle of the day is also caused by the android memory management, gingerbread will automatically suspend "closed" apps so it can be recalled quickly if u decide to open them later. but after opening a few apps earlier, then later u decide to open a high memory app, the system will kill those apps down (including the rosie homescreen app) while launching the new app to make room - this is also the cause for lag. U can use the built in task manager to kill off an app, but this may cause instabilities in some cases.
Ahhhh, well Restorer ported it to sense 3.0, and preacher added hamdirs mods to it, its real nice, so i use that one. Im not going full ICS until its fully stable, like camera lol. As for the lag stuff your probably right its just real annoying sometimes when I am trying to do something like intense gaming. thanks for your help!
