Need help...after 7 months of trouble free use my Orbit has suddenly died. It basically started last week where the phone would for no reason at all soft reset itself. After it booted up the clock would go back to its original setting back in 2006 & had to be adjusted again. The soft reset would happen without any pattern e.g. when I push the talk button when call comes through, when I try to open a program or even just pressing a button to wake it up from standby.
Anyway yesterday it did the same thing but this time it boots up to the O2 splash screen i.e. the blue screen with the picture of the glass building, & then just remains there with the backlight still on. I've resorted to a hard reset but again it will only boot up to the blue screen.
Any ideas?

Well... do u use any overclocking software ?? To me happend the same today morning... i used BatteryStatus overclocking tool @ 260 MHZ
I got a call from my dad, we talk about 5 minutes and than, one second to the other the MDA screen was black, made a softreset, booting to the o2 screen (i used Orbit WM6 Rom with MDA Compact III),set, made a hard renothing changes, once more booting to the Bootlogo...
Okay, so i tried it with bootloader mode and flash the rom, the same ****..., try the original TMO WM5 Rom, nothing changes... Now he show me the TMO bootscreen for more than 5 hours and backlight is also active all the time...
If i try to charge the MDA there is no LED lightening...
How have u sloved the problem ? New device ??

I'm having a similar problem and I have posted my symptoms here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344335) , though I never overclock my orbit before. ANyone have any solutions? Thanks in advance

has anyone experienced a problem where their Trinity will not "wake up" with the short press of the on/off button?
I'm sure I read about this some time ago and am trying to work out if it's hardware or OS related.
I'm running mUn's TE WM6 which I have been for many months now.
The problem has only started in the last 2 weeks or so.
I haven't installed anything new, but have enabled Push Mail for OTA mail.
It's doing it 1 or 2 times a day now and is very frustrating. The only way to wake the phone is soft reset.
When calling the phone from a landline, it does not ring and goes to voicemail.
Any advice or solutions gratefully received.

Try hard reset
softreset helps, sometimes i have the problem with windows mobile 5 too

You might have loaded a program that is not liked. Use a backup program. If this does not work then load your backup after the hard reset and you will be back to where you started
P3600 with D810 WM6 ROM; also happens occasionally, recovered with soft reset. Seems to happen most often when I press the On/Off button twice too quickly.

Some time ago this happened to me so often, but said it was due to some application, in my case was Slide2Unlock.
Since I removed by their consumption of memory it didn't happened to me.

Bugger, this has started to happen to me as well. Only 3 times in the last 3 days but if it keeps is up that will be enough for me to do a hard reset (overdue). Strange cause the only new thing I put on in the last week has been PCM 16 which is only a copy/paste exercise.
The fix in the Hermes forum is to force your device to sleep and not let it go into standby.
I have had some problems recently with DeviceLock 1.2 just ceasing to work and have to uninstall/reinstall to make it work again. I set it to turn the screen off when locked, as this does not put the device on standby, maybe there is the same issue with it going into standby by itself.
I have the same problem..i think that it has to do with the phone hanging..most probably due to some background programs eating too much power and memory and the phone just lacks till it hangs..happens when you have other programs that have hanged as well..my problem is with PocketAlarm..it takes so long to load my phone went to standby and the phone couldnt be called back..in brief the phone just hangs because of a program..i don think it has any problem do to with the hardware or strictly the OS..cant really explain..but the role the OS play in this problem is that it allows the program to make full use of the phone till the phone cant cope with it..its the core of the OS so it cant be avoided with any other versions or anything..sorry it seems rather unclear..hope you guys understand..
same problem for me ... from times to times, when a call hang up, i push a lot of times the red button for going back to the today screen and as it shows up, i click immediately on the Power button for turning off the screen. right after when i forgot to do something (approx 1sec) i push the power button and there it doesn't turn on the screen ... strange ...

i've bluezard for sniffing and/or hacking bluetooth devices.
OBDgauge too it's a software that works with a bluetooth dongle i plug into the diag port of my car.
and that's all. ah yes one more thing -> i disable the "HTC Home" because i don't like it.

I got this problem from some version of rom by Karmba. But V7.2 is OK so far. It seems happened when I close Egress reader by click X button then turn off screen by power switch. It then would not wakeup again. But if I close Egress and check the running programs from Task Manager to make sure the Egress is not running at the background, then I can turn on or off the screen freely.
So I think this wakeup problem is caused by some running program that was not closed properly by X button then crash the WM.
That was just my personal finding. Hope it help you guys a bit.
I have a problem with my Artemis. I'll try to decribe the problem and if anyone can help me i will be thankful.
When is Power on it works few minutes than it freeze and screen desapears. After that I try to power but it doesnt work. It needs time to accept the Power comand and I don't know where problem is... (i thing that it's about temperature but i'm not sure)
I tryed to flash with later software and win mobile 5 but the same thing happens.
Any help?
Please specify which applications you have installed and eventually which ROM.
I strongly recommand you to flash your device with latest ROMs like Black and Blue one or others (see the Windows mobile 6 section of Artemis)...
A hard reset would solve your problem anyhow I suppose.
Are you overclocking your CPU with some software? like BatteryStatus for example?

It not was about ROM... I have tryed flashing with Black & Blue, Vanilla etc. but the problem was the same. When I put the Phone in the pocked it freezes. Meybe it was problem with cooling.
Anyway I used a tutorial how to upen the phone, i opened it, cleaned it (using spray for clean) and now it works fine i gues.

The phone is fecked take it back to the makers and get a replacement..
I had the exact same problem with my P3300. It's a malfunction in the Motherboard. I've called the dutch helpdesk and because a hard reset didn't do much good the PDA was picked up later that day to be sent to Eurotwice, the repair station in Belgium. I got my phone back 2 weeks later, I started it and it froze again! So I immediatly called HTC Netherlands and again, the P3300 was picked up by UPS that afternoon. The second time I wrote a letter to the repair station and sent it with my phone. In another topic on another website I read that some other phone with the same problem had been fixed by replacing the motherboard. I got my phone back today and it works great! It hasn't crashed today, and I have confidence it won't in the future. So my tip to you and anyone who experiences this problem: Call the HTC helpdesk in your country and ask them to sent your PDA to a repair station. It might take a while but they fix it well! By the way, you have 2 years full garantee so it didn't cost me anything! Great service from HTC!
Had the same problem.
Power was on, then de screen went black and stayed black even after pushing the right upper side button. Had about 4.90mb free storage memory on the phone and 200mb on my card left.
Soft reset didn't work but a hard reset did!
I have the same problem for the last week
I tried to change Roms to original and back to manila, the same problem.
the artemis freeze suddenly without ant reason. after calls, before calls..
it's not wake up and it's show a blank screen. after few soft reset and battery replacement is wake up and work fine till the next time.
for now , I'm work with doppod original rom wm5 but no WIFI.
I think it started last week when I installs "B&B 5.0 love" rom, before that It work fine with pdviet manila2D.

I try update it to Touch 4.02, with the UPSL but it no working.
the bar with percents jump from 0% to 100% in sec. and I still having the same rom.

I've verified this on 2 XDA Orbits: after starting Navigon 7 on the Orbit1 everything works, but when Iswitch off the display and then try to switch it on again, the backlight stays off. When I light the screen with a flashlight I can see, that the display is on and the touchscreen and and hardware buttons all work fine. But without backlight the device is useless.
The same Navigon version (same SDHC card works fine in my Orbit 2 (which is broken atm)). Starting Navigon7 once into its main menu and closing it then and I have the problem... Navigon 6 has no problem (just tested without map).
Soft Reset lets me boot it and everything works until I turn off the display...
Only Hard Reset helps.
Anyone an idea?

1.: which Version of MN7 do you use, this problem should come with versions lower than 7.34.
2. I have installed a small programm litetoggle and joined ist to a hardware key. So when a have this problem, I press the key until the screen is readable.

I think it's a problem of the ROM...but o2 won't release a newer one I think...
And an ROM from here is dangerous of bricking it I think...

My XDA Orbit went crazy today, first I couldn't start him at all, he wasn't react on "power button". After few attemts he finally started. I connected him to PC but he turned off after couple minutes. From this moment I can't start windows, it stops at starting screen (with IPL, SPL, GSM, OS). After a while screen starting to quakes (like a low frequency on CRT). I tried hard reset, it won't help and run it in bootloader mode but Orbit just reset.
Additonal info:
IPL 3.04.0001
SPL 3.04.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 3.4.0.0
ROM: Original WM6 from O2

No, I didn't. I don't know anybody with artemis to borow another battery.
EDIT: I checked battery voltage, it's about 3,85V and now i noticed something, on battery sticker is printed it is for ARTE160 3.7VDC-1200mAh but on the phone it's printed ARTE200 5VDV-1A. Is that can cause the problem?
Finally I forced it to run in bootloader mode and flashed with the same O2 WM6 ROM. He started and I was abble to flash USPL and other ROM. It's better but still sometimes phone just poweroff with no reason

Had a similar problem!!! Try reflashing the rom....It worked for me..I used the o2 stock rom found on the the artemis wiki in the ftp section.... Can also highly recommend the Touch rom found in the windows mobile 6 section of the artemis section here..

I bought a new battery but phone still turning off and freezes. Now I can't even turn it on, sometimes it starts but screen slowly fades away and after few seconds its only black screen with black light. It's propably a hardware problem but what?
EDIT: I started it, working fine when it's connected with pc but when I disconnect it freezes after couple of minutes.

open the device and check the screen is connected propperly, piss easy, just be very carefull.
if this does not work buy a new LCD.
Hi, I have the same problem with my Artemis, did anyone find a solution? Can be a problem with the LCD?
And plus one here. The device always turn off, and is difficult to turn on again. Rplaced battery and is the same.....
I've got an XDA Orbit that periodically hangs (full black screen and occasionally this seems to drain the battery very quickly). I've taken it apart and reseated the connectors and these all look ok.
Seems to happen when you're taking it out of a pocket to answer a call etc. Sometime it just requires a soft-reset but occasionally it just doesn't respond. In these instances I have found that twisting it slightly across the diagonal (top left to bottom right bending back slightly) and then resetting the device seems to bring it back to life and it's ok for a few hour/days again. If I leave it alone, i.e. not in my jeans pocket - it's fine, so think it's hardware related but not sure which bit is faulty - screen, touch-screen, mainboard etc.
If I bend it the same as above when it's working the screen goes screwy and causes it to crash so think it's definitely this is what's causing the device to crash. However, the clock seems to keep going (I'm assuming so as in most incidents it doesn't seem to lose the correct time - although I might just be seeing the problem the instant after it has crashed) so don't know whether the mainboard is still ok.
Just thought it might help some if you try the slight twisting described above to see if that helps with these to get them working and if anyone has any ideas how I can work out which bit of mine is faulty I'd be grateful.

what is the best touch rom to use for my xda orbit. and where can i get it
Well it seems that I'm having similar issues with my Orbit.
I've been having problems with it for a few weeks and they seem to be getting much worse now.
Occasionally it would just lock up and freeze, but after frantic tapping it will unfreeze itself and continue working fine. But over the past few days it's been locking up regulary. Removing the battery was the only way to get it going again.
But now it just won't do anytihing. As soon as I start it up I either get a white screen (it phases in during the splash screen), or it'll start up, freezes after a few seconds, then eventually switches itself off. Hard resetting it makes no difference at all. Changing the battery didn't work either. I always keep it on charge overnight, could that be the problem? Maybe I'm just overcharging the battery (if that's even possible).
Note: As I've typed this, I've switched it on again only to find the battery's flat, even though it's been off for most of the day (I gave up trying to start it up). The battery usually lasts for the whole day - maybe even 2 days if I don't use it much. I had it on charge overnight as I said.
I'll try another battery to see if that works. If not then what can I do?
