Indeed. I too dislike humans.

There is no Root
There is no root out for 2.2 yet. A sticky are the posts that are always on top of the forum list you will see a pin icon right before the title. The XDA devs are working on finding an exploit for 2.2 but as of right now no one has made any or mentioned making any progress on rooting 2.2. I along with many other new EVO users bought it with the damn 2.2 already up an running. But worry not it may take a few months but no one has ever built a perfect un exploitable system. Some one some day will figure it out just give them some time until then cheers.

Sorry dude, there is no root method for Froyo yet. I'm sure its in the works. Not saying this to be mean or sarcastic, just a heads up, try to familiarize yourself with the search feature here and do alot of reading to make sure your question hasn't been answered yet. It will save you from getting flamed by other members for posting something that's been asked multiple times already. A sticky is basically a thread deemed important by the mods. It will always be at the top of the thread list. There's one that explains all the forum rules. Hope this helps and enjoy XDA.

I think the all the flaming is being directed at the moron who posted a thread in the dev section telling the developers that they should stop updating roms and find root for froyo cuz "half of the people here" are stuck. Gimme a break. Sorry, kind of off topic but I'm still venting.

Seriously, please search or look at the pinned threads next time, never mind that this is in the wrong section.
Seems to me some people need to get out and get themselves some instead of being upset over dopey questions.
If you find yourselfgetting p.o.ed and losing sleep over questions being asked about a phone? You're not right in da head. lol

Why would you need to vent or flame to a person who really will have no impact on telling devs what to do?
BTW... I love it when people post this question fresh for the first time. Half the time I think they are doing it to get a rise out of the people with no penises.
Maybe someone found root, they just want to see how people piss and wine about what we can't have yet, relaxe people! it's coming.

technically you're in the wrong section, but since i have a soft-spot for noobies, i'll help.
you need to look in the development section and(if you are already rooted) install one of the many 2.2 froyo roms. this is your best bet. good luck!

I wasn't worried it would affect the developers. But myself and the other mob of people felt the need to respond to a post that disrespectful to the developers. He made it sound like they're here to do what we ask. They do this for free and don't deserve pushy demanding crap like that. I overlook a lot of stupid posts but I couldn't let that one go.

I've got a question. I know there is still no way to root 2.2 so please don't freak out. My question is does anyone know if any developer has made any ground at all or does it just not seem possible?

[Q] SMASH or PASS??? G2 rooting methods....

I dont want to ask questions that have already answered and have searched the forum so hopefully noone has discussed this yet.
Link removed
Is that website legit? Has anyone tried it? Just got my G2 and don't want to brick it with a dumb easy way out...although it looks tempting. Ive never tried to gain root access on the g2 and by the looks of the tutorials, its a bit more complicated than my former g1 and vibrant!
ANy suggestions??
Yea also curious.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I'm not sure what to think of that.
But, I do know that the safest and absolute best way to root your g2 is in the wiki.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
The reason you don't find any info on it here in XDA is because its boogus and all post with it in it have been deleted by MODs, they want you to do survey and then can't root your phone, do not use this, its not legit, I would erase the link.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
The easiest way I did mine was from xda it was the visionary temp root and perm root with gfree pretty simple

All the info is in the wiki here. That looks a somewhat dodgy site. There's no need to be filling in surveys - everything is here and for free in wiki

Rom poll or voting...
Not sure if there is one yet but I was hoping there was a poll of some sort... so people could vote for overall best rom or
Fastest rom
Best battery life
Most stable rom
Best gingerbread rom
Best Froyo rom...
Best tether rom
and so forth it would be interesting to see which are best in each category..

Or you could have read the rules and did a search first before starting a new post and clogging up the boards and found about 100 threads answering your question. Just my 2 cents. Helping out the newbies.
This has to be the best response so far.

To Root Or Not To Root

No one can answer this but you. If you are unsure then I would advise you not to do it. Educate yourself on the pros and cons and determine if it will hold any value for you.

The way you phrased your post sounded like you were asking of you should root or not. And I think this is kind of a silly question to ask on a dev forum when the answer is so obvious. I believe that rooting is the only way to bring out the full potential. Even better is the development of custom roms.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747
It's a must for me.
Well as personal experience I would say ROOOT!!, but only if you feel confident enough arround the system that you wont screw it up
Don't root. You will get pregnant and die

As mentioned, do some research and decide what you need to do with your phone. Do you want features not available with stock? An Engineer at Qualcomm just stated at XDAevCon 2013 yesterday that a custom ROM can be one of the best ways to increase battery life, however ERD Jcase stated that it opens security risks so he chooses not to root. The choice is yours. But read, read, read before you decide.
I will never own an Android phone that is stock. Once I took the plunge back with my Inspire 4G, I couldn't run stock. It would drive me crazy. Too many features and Roms to try.

Talking about risk, theres no risk if u follow and read the steps very carefully, although there are largely benefits of rooting, on battery, resources, space, and ofcourse using some rooted apps like root call blocker, titanium backup, greenify, and many more.....

Your question was already answered here on your very on posting. If that is not enough information for you please type that question on Google or yahoo and pick and choose from the results. There are so many articles, blogs, and forums on this that you should not need to ask what the benefits are.

You have to understand that they are trying to clean up these forums from the many and many useless questions and posts that have been asked and answered many times for years; What are the benefits of rooting being one of them, which actually takes longer to type in using a simple google search, than to find the answer.
They feel here that these types of posts only crowd the forums, and only get in the way of people's searches for more useful information.
