Ok, so when I first got my myTouch 3G Slide I expanded the screens from 5 to 7, but now I want to bring it back down to five screens. Is there anyway to do this without factory reseting my phone?

Nope, you have to reset it or just goto a new rom(if rooted)...Unless someone else knows a secret way...Anyway that's your only option now unless rooted roms let you go back and fourth.

Did this on accident when messing with the phone
I cleared the HTCsense cache and it reset to 5 screens and cleared all the icons from them
but in order to get back to 7 you'd have to do factory reset
if you're willing to give up using the Sense UI you can download either ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro from the market, they both allow you set the number of screens without resetting the phone...personally I prefer Launcher Pro you can't go wrong with either one.

About 1 out of 6 times my wifes new tilt2 locks up when she slides the keyboard and a soft reset is required the phone doesn't really hard lock the screen still dims and comes back to life when you touch it but you just can't close the apps or switch apps or even hit the start menu I did a search for "locks up" none of the two pages I got seem to be this issue any help would be great.

THe simple Answer is it is the ATT rom. IT is so loaded with crap that is freezes alot. Best advice would be to flash a custom rom.

Best I can say is the get Clean Ram, and advanced config from dev and hacking and make some minor adjustments and see if that helps.
Hi Guys
Got a major problem.

When you turn the phone on it boots up as normal but then displays this -
Unfortunately, Launcher has stopped.

If you press report it sends a report and repeats, if you press ok it just repeats.
Can't use the phone at all. Took battery out and still the same.
The phone is stock with no mods, the only thing i have done is encrypt the phone today so i can she exchange email. Its been working fine since i did that now boom.

Press and hold the volume up and down buttons at the same time as the power button and the phone will boot in to a bootloader and you can then use the volume buttons to select recovery mode, press the power button to confirm and this will basically reset the phone.
Please thank if this helps.
Rik.
You most likely installed an app or widget not yet compatible with ICS.

Try to get into the settings first before doing a factory. If you are quick enough you should get there via the notification bar shortcut.
Go into apps - switch to "all" - search for the launcher and delete data. That should reset your launcher.
you might be able to clear your launcher data, might be more work then its worth though

Probably can't do anything with the launcher dead.
Factory reset seems to be the only option... although there was a problem with encryption staying on across factory resets (at least the password). If that's the problem, it could result in it failing every time.
I forget the solution the Guy found in that thread. Hopefully it doesn't come down to anything intense.

Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
Maybe try to push an alternative launcher to the phone from the market website. Install and use the alternative launcher to trouble shoot and clear data on the stock launcher.

He flashed stock images via fastboot.
Thanks Gokpog.
I managed to get into the notification bar (about ten attempts)
Anyway Cleared The Launcher Cache And Back To Normal?
As Always Thanks For The Help?
I used to be able to pull down the notification section at the top and change my sound profile to vibrate only but now I can only choose silent. I didn't update my phone or anything else to it and I haven't unlocked or flashed my phone so why did this change?
No one else has this problem? It used to be an option but not any more.

Haven't run into this, but I have seen that when I select silent from the drop down, it doesn't actually silence the phone.

Let's start with the obvious:
Have you rebooted? Held down the power button for 10 seconds to force a soft reset?
Yes I have, this has been like this since the 3rd week after I got it. I don't know what else to do about it though. I didn't want to do a factory reset and lose all my settings just to get back one if I don't have to. I wanted to know if others had this problem as well.

You can always run the backup app that comes with the phone. It will save all your info. Just need to move it to your computer before you wipe. If you have already tried a soft rest and it didn't work I would try a factory reset. Good luck.

I just bought the Porsche Design Mate 9 and a lovely thing it is.
However, straight out of the box, the strangest thing. No home screen icons. Not one!
The status bar has everything on it, the menu slides down, the settings menu works fine. Calls are received fine, apps can be downloaded via the play store (online albeit), but no apps on the home screen.
I've tried a factory reset, wiped the cache, played around with the settings and display, but still no apps.
I have never seen anything like this ever.
I can't return it as I won't be able to get another.
What could this be please? Is there something I have overlooked?
Thanks in advance.

or go to settings and perform a factory reset and when it retarts do the setup all again. It is not usual not to display any icons
What happens if you change the launcher?

UPDATE :
This is obviously a Mate 9 Pro family issue.
My PD was sent to the dealer who did something and sent it back. Working 95% well now (will discuss the 5% in another thread)
My brother bought the non-PD Mate 9 Pro, 128GB 6GB RAM Titanium Grey, and after starting it up, etc. exactly the same thing happened.
After much playing around, I was told to : factory reset twice, change the the display from standard to drawer, put 2 sims in, etc. etc...I was ready to throw in the towel...
Pulled the sim tray out and all the apps/icons appeared instantly! How strange. All has been well since.
Anyone else having issues with their settings changing with out user input? For instance, the lock screen keeps resetting back to the theme default. And also the screen timer of inactivity keeps going from the one minute I had it set at to the 15 seconds default and I never touch it?
A Suggestion..

May I Make A Suggestion...
Please try a Factory Reset.. and Do Not restore any apps for a couple of hours.
If the problem still exist, it's your device.
If the problem goes away, it's one of your apps.

Well, as of right now it's only been the screen time and the wallpaper. The wallpaper in gonna contribute to the theme possibly. But the screen of time is weird. Thanks for the suggestion but since it's that minor in gonna hold off on factory reset until we're able to root and twrp so I can backup.
