Is this file created by a development kit? I was just curious. Because if someone passes me an IMG file to flash, will it always be included in a zip file and have an associated android-info.txt file? If not, then I just wanted to know what application creates this file...and don't say a simple "text editor."
A very quick SEARCH for android-info lead me right to the thread on how to create hboot flash zips.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753788&highlight=android-info
On a side note this thread should of probably went in general not development

Thanks, but you have misunderstood my question. You referred me to a post on how to create a splash screen image, and it already included an android-info.txt file. I want to know how to create one. And the type of "IMG" I am talking about is a partition image (e.g.: a recovery partition image), not a picture image.
Also, this is a development question.
Thanks everyone, my question has been answered in another thread.
In which thread was it answered? I have the same question.

The standard android-info.txt file to use for the Incredible contains the following lines of text:
modelid: PB3120000
cidnum: VZW__001
mainver: 3.17.605.0
hbootpreupdate:3
This link shows how to use it for setting up a splash screen .
I'm just wondering if the other thread was in the general help section?
Thank you!

Just copy and use a android-info.txt file from an ruu, or radio ment for your phone, in your splash screen file. All the file does is tell the phone that it is a file ment for that model of phone.

Hi all,
First of all I have an Asian version Generic HTC Desire Z (Asian version but not under a provider) with the following software information:
Android version 2.2.1
Baseband: 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2
Kernel: 2.6.32.21-g6e170e7....
Build: 1.82.707.1 CL317545 release-keys
Software: 1.82.707.1
My CID is HTC_044
From what I read, in order to root, we have to downgrade the software version to 1.34..... , right?
SO thats what I did.
I have followed the steps to downgrade in ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261 )
and creating a goldcard ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503 )
I tried both (2 different attempts) the PC10IMG.zip file and exe/RUU file, and have copied the whole zip file onto the SDCard (not in any folder), without extracting the files.
When I get to step 9-10 (phone in bootloader mode), I receive an error message like user "waqypaqy" got.
When I reboot into the bootloader, the phone scans the SD card, then I get this:
SD Checking...
Loading...[PC10DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PC10IMG.zip]
No Image!
Then after a few minutes, comes to another screen and says:
"CID incorrect! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot."
From the bootscreen, here's the info:
VISION PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT -0.85.0009
RADIO-26.04.02.17_M2
eMMC-boot
CID Incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot
Does anyone know what's wrong with this?
It'd be great if anyone could help me.
THANKS in advance =)
PS: I can't post under the "Development" forum because I'm still a newbie and doesn't have enough postcount yet.
The goldcard bypasses the CID check, so you can try looking at that first. Can you confirm that you've correctly written the image from the PSAS site to your sdcard?

Hey theSpam,
I have tried creating the goldcard before, and have received the goldcard image through the email and have updated img through HxD editor (as per the instructions). But like what I said before, it gave me that CID incorrect message.
I'm sorry this might be a stupid question, but how do I check whether I've written the image from the PSAS site? What is the PSAS site?
Thank You for your help =)
I was just asking you to doublecheck that you've correctly written goldcard.img to your sdcard. Most people have issues during this step of the goldcard creation process.
Just open up your sdcard in HxD and see if it's there
Are you using the Asian RUU to get the PC10IMG.zip file? I found this made a difference.

Oh yeah, I have followed all of the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503 for part 1.
I have copied the contents of goldcard.img into the removable disk image and saved the file.
Then I went back to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261, and followed the steps in that guide.
I only managed to get upto step 10.
Then it showed the error I mentioned above.
The RUU exe file I got was from here:
http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Vision/
I downloaded the file with this name "RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe"
This is the asian version, right?
I got the rom.zip file by following Part 2 steps in the link above.

I would also recommend going back and double-checking all those steps for creating the goldcard, because it sounds like it's not recognising a goldcard.

Hi steviewevie,
I just want to make sure whether i've followed the steps correctly or not.
Making the goldcard:
During step 4, "Enter 'adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid' and press enter. You should get a very long number copy it."
This is the number that I get: 479a002f86c320087483035535443530
Step 5 "Visit this page, paste in your number and reverse it."
When I opened the link for that step, there isn't any textfield where I can paste in my number.
So what I did was reverse the number manually into 035344535530384780023c68f200a974
Step 6. I entered the reversed number into the SD Card Serial (CID) text field.
Question: Can I reverse it manually?
Thank you mate (and to anyone who is kind enough to help) =)

As you have downgraded, you can follow the guide found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision to achieve permanent root.
Once you have ClockwordMod Recovery installed (per the above guide), you can flash Cyanogen.
As for the radio, I personally don't recommend changing anything due to the brick risk (however, many others share opposite opinions).

Hi,
I have just finished installing and flashing CM 7 + googleaps zip file.
But I found several problems:
1. Google Maps not installed
2. Calendar is missing
3. Stock email app somehow doesnt work
4. Numbers: I can only see several digits on the letters, they are 1 2 4 5 0
5. And most of all I just found out that HTC Sync does not work with CM =( (can't sync my contacts n calendar anymore through outlook 2010)
Would you have any ideas why this is happening?
THanks very much theSpam!

I have tried so many ways and nothing helped, I also got the CID wrong, I tried to make the goldcard but still having that problem all the errors and information are exactly like yours... Need to flash gapps after you flash cm Rom
While attempting to update my firmware manually from the bootloader I accidentally came across a glitch which allows me to change the Radiover appearing in the bootloader (not sure why)
There is no use of changing the radio version but i found it interesting enough to share it, while we are waiting for JB .
Warning: attempting this could lead to the combustion of your phone.
make a pj46img.zip, place an android-info.txt in it and write the following in the txt file:
modelid: PJ4610000
cidnum:enter_CID_here
Radiover: whateveryouwanttoappear
flash the zip in ruu mode without locking(fastboot flash zip pj46img.zip, not update)
it will give you errors but the value still changes
I tryed to change other variables/values but none changed except this one.
What errors do you get?
I would have thought that it would fail signature check and not change anything at all.
Is it possible to dump the pj46img.zip from a phone?
If so, has anyone tried dumping a pj46img.zip from a Super CID phone, then flahsing it to a different phone? Surely someone must have tried that a long time ago.
with the bootloader unlocked it gives error 99 unknown fail
with the bootloader locked i think it gave signature check fail

My first thought also.
But surely someone would have thought of that, like Xmoo or something?
Nice find though Vcek !
I don't think the zip is stored anywhere on the phone, once you install it, each of its components go to their place, then the zip is erased.
Add: the value changes for some reason during the signature checks whether it failed or not.
Sent from my HTC One X
I updated my radio but not quite happy with the result. I try the PD98IMG.zip method, but the bootloader tells me that the zip is corrupted and no flash process starts.
I am not quote sure what kind of s-off sI have, but the phone was rooted the old way, no htc unlock.
The first line reads
Ace PVT SHIP S-oFF RL
Is it safe to try the Windows fastboot method.

if the zip file you download contains the .img file and and .txt file. then yes, rename it PD98IMG.zip and put that in the root of your sdcard. Make sure that md5sum checks....flashing radios is a delicate thing.
For further help use the guide in my signature...
checksum is OK, I tried, but no txt file ??

If you do a "fastboot getvar all", do you get:
Code:
MID: 0PJA30000
CID: VZW__001
If so, I think those are the only differences between the android-info.txt for int, sprint, vzw, and so on...
If those are your values, try this. just rename to android-info.txt
Instructions for OSX
I'm adding instructions for anyone with a Mac who doesn't want to bother with Bootcamp, as Benny's tool is a Windows batch file. This is essentially the same process, just manually. (As stated above, you must of course be s-off.)
You need a utility called ffmpeg, which you can download here: http://ffmpegmac.net. Place the ffmpeg app in a separate folder (don't try to install it, just drop it there).
1. Prepare splash image and name custom.jpg
2. Move custom.jpg to ffmpeg folder.
3. Open Terminal at folder.
4. Enter this command:
Code:
./ffmpeg -i custom.jpg -f rawvideo -pix_fmt rgb565 splash1.nb0
This will output a splash image in that folder with the name splash1.nb0.
5. Using an archiving program (not the OSX Archive command, which will include extraneous files), zip the splash image and android-info.txt into a single zip file. I use B1FreeArchiver.
6. Flash in fastboot/Download mode as above.
I get errors and failed messages on anything else.
Worked perfect brother thank you!

There's no such thing as a Noob-question, but if you take the latest OTA or firmware update and extract the "android-info.txt" file, you can then put that file into the folder where you're creating the splash screen, I uploaded a video that shows just how easy it is once you have the "android-info.txt," if you have any more questions, feel free to message me. Literally, just the command: adb getvar all
If you need more guidance than that, just use the XDA search function with the term "easy adb" and you will get links for some good simple adb installers and beginner guides.

The following thread describes how to flash firmware. You want the 4.16.401.10 firmware from the link on this thread.

The instruction in the thread (linked in Post #7 above) describe in detail how to flash the firmware.
You don't need to rename the file, as long as you type the exact file name when you issue the command: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
(where "firmware.zip" is the actual file name). Example in this case would be: fastboot flash zip 4.16.401.10.zip
Some folks like to change the filename to actually be "firmware.zip" (no quotes) so that the command is easier to type.
But be aware if you do this on PC, be careful that you don't have the Windows option enabled to hide file extensions; which is normally enabled by default. You may rename the file "firmware.zip.zip" and not know it, as the screen will display "firmware.zip". This will result in errors, since the computer will try to flash a file name that is not really there.
