[Q] Error 36 while copying music to SD card in OSX - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got my HTC Desire yesterday, and I have some trouble with it. When I connect it to my MacBook and try copying some music onto SD card i get "Error 36" and it fails. It can copy one, two files, and then this error kick in, it's quite random...
I googled and found that it is acctually a bug in OSX with FAT32 drives, and was resolved with 10.6.2 update, but I'm running 10.6.4 and I still have this problem...
Anyone else had the same problem, how to solve it, any ideas? Can i reformat the SD card without loosing my data, contacts etc... It's kinda lame to have a brand new device, and I can't fill it up with music :/
cheers!

How big is your SD card? If it's 4GB you could format it as FAT and see if that has any effect? If not I'd back up your data and then re-format as FAT32 and see if that works.

I tried reformatting the card but no change... anyways I found a temp solution to the problem.
It seems that FAT32 to FAT32 works OK, as opossed to HFS+ to FAT32, so I just copy the content to an USB drive, and then copy it from the USB drive to the SD card... no errors that way, although it is kinda pain in the ass...
cheers!

Have you tried checking it for errors? Is your 32GB legite or a Chinese fake? Have you tried formatting it in the phone? Unmount > format > mount

Urgent Help Needed :(

Hi All
I am hoping someone on this forum can help me before I rip my hair out (whats left of it).
I have recently got a HTC Desire and purchased a new 32GB Micro SD card. The SD card is fine and recognised when I first put it in, format it and factory reset the phone.
Boots up fine, recognises the SD fine and all apps work.
HOWEVER, when I plug my phone into the Mac I mount the SD card as a disk drive, Mac recognises it fine then I sync my ITunes music to it (about 8GB worth) then eject the drive from the Mac and remount the drive to the phone.
About 30 - 60 seconds after remounting to the phone I get an error message advising that the SD card is mounted as read-only. I try to unmount and remount again and it does the same.
The SD card basically renders itself useless.
I then take the Micro SD card out of the phone and put into the SD card adaptor for the Mac and run a disk varification on the card, the Mac itself cannot even fix it.
The ONLY way I can see to sort this is to reformat the Micro SD back to FAT32 and put it back into the phone, format and factory reset.
Again this ONLY happens at the point of syncing etc from the Mac.
Now before everyone starts to blame the Mac, after doing some Googling, it seems this also happens on Windows machine.
How do I stop this as its becoming a massive annoyance.

[Q 4.21.11] Blank SD Card

So it's possible I might just be dumb and screwed up, but I think I might have reformatted something that I didn't mean to reformat.
I wanted to wipe my SD card because I found that there were random pics appearing in my gallery of people I've never seen before in my life (got the phone second hand but popped the SD card in that I used with my old Fascinate). Opening up My Computer, there were two different removable discs that were the SD card inside my phone and what I now presume to be internal storage. I backed up everything I wanted and wiped both the SD card and the other storage device via my laptop.
Here is the problem. Whenever I boot the phone up, there is a notification that says my SD card is either blank or not in a compatible format... It asks if I want to format it, I click OK, and everything seems fine... Until I have to reboot the phone and it does the same thing all over again. This is getting to be an annoyance because I don't want to keep deleting everything on my SD card whenever I reboot my phone.
Can anybody help me fix this?
Okay I definitely did something to the internal storage. I tried taking my SD card out and rebooting it and I am still getting the blank SD card notification. It won't let me format it. What do I do?
Try connecting the sdcard to your computer through a usb adapter, or any alternative to using the phone's USB-mount. Format it with FAT32. Put it back in your phone and see if it works. If not, you might have a corrupt sdcard. Try a different one if available.
What directory were the pictures appearing in? It's possible they were cached from the browser or some social app.

[Q] Missing some files on MMC card when connecting to computer

Hey guys
I have a problem with my DHD..
The other day when i connected it to my pc, and choosed to connect is as an external harddrive, a message popped up that there was some error with the drive, and it needed to be scanned for faults. And so it did, and it said that nothing was wrong, but
But when i enter it throu' my computer, i only see to folders name:
bugreports
openfeint (some gaming program)
and some files, that has something to do with my custom rom, HoneySense HD.
The strange thing is, that when i unplug the device from my PC again, all the pictures and videos that are stored on my MMC card, shows up in the gallery.
What should i do?
Move the files to the phone, format the card, and move back to the card, or do any of you have a better solution?
Thank you for your time
It looks like the start of an SD corrupted FAT32 table.
Try opening your files with a WiFi FTP app (many of them free on the market) copy the important files to your PC.
I would suggest using SD Formatter (google it) to wipe your SD clean, format in Fat32 and copy your files again.
I had this before. The SD card had a set of files on it but everytime I tried to put something else on it, or take something away it wouldnt work. Formatting didnt fix anything either so I had to use a new SD card.

SD Formatter v3 is a different thing to Windows format. It does a Hard format for your SD card. I happened to my friend once and it worked like magic, maybe you can revive your old SD card this way.

64 gb micro sd problem(s)

Hello,
I just got a 64 gb micro sd and just been experiencing issues since. I have formatted it to Fat32. It would randomly not show up when I plug in my phone, it does not show under it.
When I transfer music...they break? Will say something like so and so cannot be played, format is not supported or file does not exist. When I look at my musics on the computer, i cannot delete because it says i need written permission.
I am at lost for word at the moment because it is the second one I got...all having the same issue. When I format to exFat it does not even get mounted.
Backup your SD Card to your PC. Use the phone to Format, then put all your files back onto the Card.
I have already done that, it doesn't work...wouldn't mount
