HTC Touch 2 - Windows Mobile to Android - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi,
New to all this: I was wondering if there's perhaps an "FAQ" which answers these:
- Is it possible to change the handset from Windows Mobile to Android (or any other OS?) The reason for this is that Windows Mobile is just not stable enough on this handset.
- Is this "risky"? Might I end up with no working handset?
- If it is possible to do so, is is then possible to ever revert back to Windows Mobile?
- Do you have to "buy" the Android OS?
Thanks,
Mark

1. There's no Android for hTC Mega, but here's a thread about it [here]
If you say that WinMo is not stable - why not try to flash a custom ROM?
2. You may and you may not, as there is no Android for it, then most likely not
3. In most cases Andriod boots from SD, so WinMo is always there.
4. Android is free.
PS. next time post in Mega section.

What to do if I want to....

I have purchased an unkown brand of PDA phone which is manufactured in China/Taiwan where Windows Mobile 5.0 is installed. However, the machine seens very unstable because the system somehow will stop running when soft-reset or while using it. Is there any program I can use to check the ROM information/version of my device so I can upgrade it for a more apporpriate ROM/OS. Thanks!
Start -> Settings -> System -> Device Information (Under `Identidy`) may give you a clue. A photograph of your hardware may also help.
It says Microsoft Windows Mobile Version
OS 5.1.1700 (Build 14343.0.0.0)
ARM920T S3C2440A
Below is the photo of the machine, however the words are in Simplified Chinese.

As the phone singal is very weak and the machine is very unstable. Just wonder if I can find a better Radio Rom or OS to replace the exiting one.
I'm 99% sure it's a samsung, there was another thread with an similar or same (i don't remember) phone and query somewhere in this forum. i thought it was an abandoned concept, (remember the slider phones in the last two matrix films)
This phone looks like Samsung, and actually this model from Samsung has been for sold on market in China last year on CDMA network called SCH-M509 (China, with CDMA SIM card slot) or SCH-S250(Korea, without CDMA SIM card slot). Check the link below and you see Samsung is not running Windows operating system. (In Simplified Chinese wordings)
http://cgi.ebay.com.cn/ws/eBayISAPI...QsascsZ1QQsaslcZ0QQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZunknown
You can see the phone I posted earlier looks the same as original Samsung. I'm sure that the Samsung phone is not running Windows Mobile but the one I purchased is on Windows Mobile 5.0, therefore, I really want to see if I can flash the ROM for better performance (or at least more stable and reliable).
Anyone able to help? If I want to flash the ROM, what information I need to know? ROM version? Machine model e.g. Magician, Wizard..etc? Any program I can check the ROM information? Thanks!
roms are unique to each device - the hardware is different, the touchscreen button combos are endless, so the rom needs to be different.
as it's not made by htc, you will not likely find anyone with a rom for it on this forum.
i think you have two choices,
1 check the other phone forums - howard, pdamobiz etc.
2 cook your own rom - there are guides scattered around this forum, i don't know if the process is the same for all, but if you check guides for more than one you'll get the idea

what can i change on htc s629 bt

hello my first post all new to me ..i love to change themes and things on all the phones ive owned my question is what can i change on my [bt anywhere s 620] its a bit boring at the moment any thoughts please
Well to make it not "boring" I would first download the new Rom (a rom is the version that the phone is operating on kinda like an operating system). This new Rom could be found below in my signature labeled "Latest 6.1 Rom." After you download this Rom run the auto.bat file in the folder and it will update your phone to the new Rom which is amazing. It has an amazing new home screen and threaded messages, as well as many other features. Also remember to run the connection wizard in the tools folder of the new rom after you updated it in order to be able to connect to your specific network provider.

android or iphone based rom for the vogue?

why doesn't anybody consider making a android based rom for the touch vogue? heck id even be up for a iphone cloned based rom, we need something different! the problem with most iphone themes are that they just mask windows, what we need is a true overall, complete system theme!

yeah but why can't we just make a rom so we can run android natively? as far as the iphone, i mean our version of the iphone, not the actual apple software!

If it's so easy, why don't you do it
It's very difficult to do... nobody has figured out how yet.
i just wish android would just be able to load from one file instead of multiple files on the sd's root
Android is linux...

Let Me start of By saying you have a great idea.. you probably know that android was developed by Google, Microsoft's current largest competitor. Las Week Google Announced That Th Chromium Project is working out so greatly that they plan on makeing a full on desktop replacement operating system based on the linux kernel. Currently The Only Other Operating System Google Has Made Is andriod, No let me explain why this is hard to set up on our phones. The Manufactuer Prudoced a ROM with a windows CE bootloader using thwe files NK.exe. for the boot process, for more info on this process google windows CE boot process. however the entire process is difrent in linux. In linux instead of having NK (CE loader) as part of the windows OS we have a seprate program called a bootloader, the two mos common ones are the LILO or LInux LOader and the GRUB or GRand Unified Boot loader niter of wich anyone knows how to get the HTC phone to recoginse without an external windows CE aplication. Running The Application Is The Abutal Process Of The Bootloader, The COnfigration file is simalar to the windows XP boot.ini. esentialy your copy of android is just another application.
To ths date no one has be able to figure out how to create a rom that can edit the factory bootloadre to male it use GRUB or LILO, however if you wanted to chose one or the other i'd develop it to run a mobile version of GRUB bcause then you can dual boot windows mobile as if you were on a PC .
hope this answered your questions as to why an android ROM isn't out there yet.
Honestly, if there was a version of android and chrome i would switch all my devices over to Google Linux right now, i'm tired of the microsoft way of computing, paying another $150 every two to five years.
in theory you can have both andriod and iphone
android is open source, you should be able to use it as a base foundation and skin it with an iphone interface

[Q] Can I flash windows phone OS on DHD?

I don't understand. Is it possible to flash mango to my DHD? Why? I've watched some relative threads but still don't understand.

What you might have seen, is just a theme of Windows Phone OS and not actually the Operating system itself. Desire HD is an android phone and it is not possible to run Windows phone on DHD due to two simple and major reasons.
1. Devs don't give a dubblido about porting windows phone OS onto DHD
2. We all know that Android is much better than Windows phone OS, in terms of accessibility and utility.

Thanks, but what is dubblido?
Windows Os Is A Closed source and porting it to android is very very hard and impossible if i may say. and if you need windows 7 go and buy one, meanwhile the thread will be closed.

Dualbooting Android on Windows 10 Mobile Devices

Hello everyone,
I've been digging around and trying to find any (current) information on a solution for android apps on windows mobile devices. It is my understanding that with Project Astoria being shelved, there really isn't an option to sideload apps but I was curious about the possibility of dualbooting an Android OS and Windows 10 Mobile.
I have a Lumia Icon 929, and I'm currently on build 10586.420 -- is anyone aware of any dualbooting options? (Desperately trying to find a Pokemon Go solution, because each day I die a little more.)
Thank you for your time!!
Nope. The only way is buying an android.
If you want wp7.8 + android, you can get a second hand htc hd2
Dualbooting even on android devices requires MultiROM and much more complex than single boot. Windows 8-10 (Mobile) uses Secure Boot, so someone (probably Windows mobile engineer) needs to modify boot loader and disable secure boot first.
