Sorry if this has been asked, pretty sure it has. But, I took the apk's of contacts and browser from latest CM6 nightly and tried to install them on BurntDroid rom. Didn't work. Was wondering if its possible to get them to install on any Sense rom? Or if someone has made/working on a mod to get it to work. I know there is dialer one, but I'd rather have stock.

It is a bit out of date at this point, but the bottom line answer is no, or at least, not easily.

I know there is a 2.1 Sense. That's what I'm running. But is there a way to have 2.2 with Sense?
not yet obviously.
you could try installing the android system monitor app ( cant rightly remember the exact name of the app, but thats close, just search the market- if u cant find it, lemme know, i'll post the .apk) and use it to backup all the sense related .apk's to your sd card, then install the 2.2 blazin or reference build and drop the apk's in your Android Apps folder of the "." build, then run the mjg droid utility n make sure theyre allchecked in menu/apps. Im not sayin it'll work, but its worth a shot. Lemme know if it works if u try it
Does anyone have a list of the Sense .apk's I will do a little searching. If I find anything I will post back.
Not 100% sure on this but why not get the sense apk's from the earlier builds? They are already rooted if I'm not mistaken so the only question remains is what folder will all the apk's be located (I can't remember). The next question remains is if it would work with the latest builds or not.

I have tried this already. As soon as the phone boots, Launcher2 quits. HTC Sense Launcher was not built for 2.2.
We will most likely have to wait till HTC releases a froyo phone with the Sense UI, for us to properly port it to our froyo builds.

Hasn't that already been done?

as far as i know you can not install any sense .apk's ona not sense build because they use a differnet framework.
so you would need a complete sense build in order to install any htc sense .apk's

There are a couple of releases for the HD2 that have the Desires system put into a system.ext2 file. Unfortunately this needs a newer kernel than we have available for our machines.
yall should reach out to Klinux. We originally released the 2.1 sense but ive been pre-occupied with kernel crap.
If anyone has the de-deoxed version of the 2.2 from the Evo, im sure klinux can figure out a way to get it to run.

i'm on it. Thanks ACL!!
EDIT:
I sent KLINUX a PM letting him know what we are up to. I will let you all know if I hear from him. In the meantime, I am looking into what it would take to get the sense apk's de-deoxed myself if possible.
Excellent. Keep us posted.
I'd like to know which files do I need to install the stock vanilla android contacts and dailer apps on a rooted 2.2 sense ROM?
I see there are some ROMs out there that do have SENSE + the stock contacts and dailer.

The OTA added wifi calling, wifi hotspot built in, and new kernel. There is no reason to use the pre ota, I'm gonna put a pre ota back up when I get a chance, just cause.
First of all, thanks for your work.
Question: I did not use this particular ROM but I did flash a stock G2 ROM - is there any way to get rid of the hideous G2 picture that is displayed during boot?

HAHA, yes, on stock android roms like this, if you go into you /system/media folder, you will see bootanamation.zip, replace that with a custom one.
I haven't been over to the theme section to see if any custom ones were made yet or not. You can make your own, just search these forums how. The directions are in g1 theme section for sure, u could prob use one from there, just not sure how good it will look due to screen res being different. Maybe try one from n1 or evo theme section...
New version plus universal theme template now up.
I use CyanogenMOD and wanted to update my PRL (since I haven't done that since getting on CyanogenMOD 6+ months ago). I understand the only way to do that is to flash to a Sense based MOD, update, then restore CyanogenMOD back.
So if that information is still correct, what would the lightest, smallest, Sense based mod be right now to do just that? I just want to flash the mod, do a backup of it, then store it for future PRL updates, so I need it as small as possible.
Any suggestions?
As you know theres no way to update your PRL through settings, you will need to download the update and flash it... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883226

That doesn't help me. I know that I can't do it via CM (as I stated in my original post). What I need to know is what Sense based ROM is the smallest. I want to flash a Sense based ROM and then do a backup of that ROM to keep around for future PRL updates rather than having to flash a fresh ROM. Since I want to keep a backup, I'd like it to be small. No extra bloatware at all.
Any suggestions as to the smallest Sense based ROM?
This might be what you're looking for, Its a bare bones Sense Rom. Link below...

Thanks. I'll try that out.
On the stock rom? I know other roms allow this, but has anyone came up with a way to do it on stock?
No mods out there for this? I will donate some cash if someone could make one, or be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction to try to make one myself.
most of the ROMS will give you the option to do this.

Yeah I know...I am looking for a mod so I can remove it from the stock rom...
Nova Launcher will do this for you on stock rom.
Yeah Im looking for a mod though, I prefer the stock launcher.
Well first off you won't find any mods for a "stock" rom. You need to be running a deodexed rom to be able to flash edited apk's. And I scanned the sprint section and didn't see a deodexed rom so even if you wanted to try to edit it yourself you would need to wait for someone to post one or deodex a system dump of your own and continue on editing to your liking.
Or just grow some big ones and flash a rom
good day.

I KNOW how frustrating it is...trust me, I do.
When people tell me exactly what I say "Hey, please don't mention _____. I know it works. I'd rather not."
But, honestly, flash a rom.
Not only will you have a BOAT LOAD of extra features...
But you can ignore them completely if you want.
Flash stock kernel/bootanimation...and you're back to that stock feel.
If you're worried about getting updates...you could always fastboot flash stock once 4.0.5 rolls out or whatever the next may be.
Thanks for the replies guys, I have already flashed four different roms..its not that Im scared I just prefer stock. I hated the stock rom on my old evo and had a different rom every week. I just really like this google phone as is (with the exception of not being able to remove the battery/clock )
