I9000XXJF3 UK Galaxy S
Hi,
I've flashed a few ROMs on my SGS but I want to flash back to the stock firmware which I belive is I9000XXJF3....
Ive got the files but there's 2 'CSC' files..... CSC_19000SWCJF3 and CSC_19000SOXAJF3 but does anyone know which one applies to UK Handsets ? or doesnt it matter? and if it doesn't whats the difference?

I believe OXA is default - but if you are trying to get stock so you can get the official JM1 over Kies, I've just tried it and no success. Will give the SWC a go, expecting nothing, then have to goto JM1/2 over Odin instead.
EDIT: Yup, SWC = Swisscom!

Im just gonna flash it now so will see how it goes.....

My phone has JG9 firmware.. that looks like it's newer than anything there.

I checked mine when stock before flashing and it def was JF3...
a few questions though...
can anyone tell me what 'code/lettering' id expect to see for a UK CSC file ??
can can I mix a CSC from another firmware?
What relevance does any of this make as i've flashed JM5 from the samsung firmware site and they have all worked...even though it booted up in Russian
NB - Just flashed JF3/OXA and cannot update JM1 via Kies...just get.....

I've tried to update my phone via Samsung Kies but no luck
First off all Kies doesn't identify the phone firmware and after that it say that i have the last update. (i don't have 10 posts so cannot link the screen shot with kies)
My phone is GT-I9000, Eclair I9000XXJF3
I need to update because i have problems with Skype(doesn't work at all) and Internet connection(only after i reboot the phone is working).

you'll find here in this thread at the bottom of the second Post the latest Firmwares for ODIN or CWM

Better use ODIN to flash the JW8, it's the latest one from Samsung.
After that you can decide if you want to flasha kernel with root and a Custom rom.

Firmware Chaos

Hi there!
I am a bit overwhelmed by the strange release order on samsung-firmware.com of the last "inofficial" (whatever) releases of the european i9000 firmware. Theres a JM1, a JM1 NEW, a JM2 and JM5. To make chaos complete Kies is offering me a JM1 as well, when entering test mode. What kind of JM1 would that be? The old one, the new one, or a total different one? I followed all the threats losely over the past month, but somehow lost track. A short guide is very much appreciated. Or, to put it bluntly, what F/W should I flash regarding stability, speed and gps? Or, just what the heck is the right order?

The JM1 New is the Version from Kies, so if you worry about warranty issues, you always should use KIES updates.
I don't know if there is a difference between JM1 and JM1 NEW.
I would recommend JM5. Stable, fast and everything works as it should.
I'd also recommend to flash the Samset rom after flashing JM5 and then the latest Lagfix. Your phone will be flying!

Well.. are you sure about that? Because I got JM2 from Kies, and it's different than the JM2 from samsung-firmwares.com...

I'm using DDJG4 and it works perfect and even better with lag fix and evo gps fix

JPJG8 is the best version I used so far! It also does not have the contact FC bug!

I bought my Galaxy S in Germany end of June
I got JF3 as Stock Fimrware
I Updated to JM1 over Kies
as i heard JM2 over Kies is only for branded SGS.
All other Fimrware Versions are from Samsung but not officially released (over Kies),
They are leaked Developer or Beta Versions.
The JM1 from Kies is diiferent to that previously leaked one from samsung-fimrwares.
So in th officially sight there is no chaos(for the firmwares).

Im on XXJF4 PDA XXJF3 Phone and TMUJE6 CSC on an unbranded and unlocked SGS and when i plug into Kies it tells me that i cant update my current version. I have tried other firmwares for samsung-firmwares and it still tells me i cant update. Does this device need to be put into a procific mode to update though Kies or is the no update for UK?

Yes, I got JM2 from Kies, but with Kies in test-mode. I didn't even have to set up my APN again, it included Telenor

BTW! This is the firmware info:

Phone: I9000XXJM1
CSC: I9000XEEJM1

To determine the LATEST firmware look at the last three letters/numbers.
Assume they are in base 36 and then look which has a higher value.

Hmm.. i'm running the new JM1 from samsung-firmwares (which is a official release!)
You can see that because the CSC file states XEEJM1 instead of XXJM1

I couldn't get any update running in "normal" mode.

This makes me rage...
I also have an unbranded SGS (Bought from Komplett), and Kies won't give me an update in test mode or normal mode. I really want this new - official - firmware.
Maybe I need an older version of Kies...

The "leaked" firmwares aren't beta or test firmwares necessarily (except the Froyo firmwares) - they're merely service centre firmwares. Samsung releases many firmwares, some of which have different firmware versions, but which may essentially all be the same, to their service centres but never makes them available for users to download.
To my knowledge, there is NO "official" UK update yet (via Kies). However, if you take your phone to a service centre, they may well flash it with a newer firmware than the one you have.

When dealing with firmwares it is very important to remember that one firmware release (one code branch) may contain 20 or 30 or more actual firmwares. This is because of network / operator branding and language files. This is why the firmwares we're seeing for the Galaxy are XXJM5, JGJM8 etc.
Samsung firmware versioning works like this:
Firmware version i9000XXJM5 means:
i9000 = Phone model
XX = Country / region (XX is generic Europe 1)
J = Year of build / release
M = Month of build / release
5 = Consecutive number (so 5th build of the JM branch)
...what is interesting is that Samsung are using month codes which are over the 12th letter in the alphabet (which is L) - this usually means the firmware is a test / beta firmware, but the fact that JM2 is available to the public via Kies counters this.
When you take all these things into account, it becomes obvious that the JG and JM builds are all essentially the same, but just with different localisations / customisations for the languages / regions / networks they were originally intended for.
I should also add that any one "firmware" is made up of three elements; the PDA (phone code), CSC (branding / localisation / applications) & modem (baseband) code. That's why you will sometimes see different version numbers for each specific part of a firmware, within the one "whole" firmware version.

What FW version are you running now? I was running JM2 from samsung-firmwares.com when I tried through Kies.

[Q] help required:S8500XXJL2 to S8500DDJI2

Hi ,
I am in india and my wave s8500 is from UK, i done a full download of S8500XXJL2 from Vodafone firmware. Everything working except the GPS. I tried all the posibilities which are out in many bada forums.
And finally planned to flash indian firmware and have below questions.
1/ Is it ok to move from S8500XXJL2 to DDJI2 since my phone is from UK.
2/ since full DDJI2 is not available, should i flash as follows?
DDJE7(FULL)-->--->DDJI2(PARTIAL).
If so, is it ok to move from S8500XXJL2 to DDJE7..?
Any additional inputs are welcome. Thanks in advance to everyone out here.

Bricked Phone

Was updating it through kies and fecking thing corrupted dont know why.
I can get into downlload mode and that is it, just saying using recovery in kies to install firmware.
Anybody got a stock rom, Or a lick to a euro rom im form Ireland, tried looking in the devleopement thread but cant find any roms to match where i live.
Also will be using odin if i can

Get a offical EUR ROM (you can find in this forum) and flash with odin.

OXX means Multi-CSC, which supports many Euro Languages, including English(Ireland)....but without Meteor or EMobile shyte.
CSC = Customer Sales Code or Consumer Software Customisation??
In Phone/PDA:
XX means Region....Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
KK1 means Year 2011 Month November Revision 1
[Year 2001 = A........Year 2011 = K]...........[Month Jan = A......... Month December = L]

Thought that all right. Will do tomorrow but have a problem. Messages Will not send no matter what i do. Strange thing is everything seems to be in order. I have the right service number and well that's all i can find or think off.
Any ideas or would it be a problem with the version of the Rom. Can't see it as i could send messages with use kp custom rom.

well if its only for one day I suggest to leave it
the XXLA2 runs so much smoother
before installing don't forget to wipe everything

Id say that could be the problem that i wasnt able to wipe data when installing the new rom.. Will flash cwm and download that rom and see how that goes

Wipe everything ,even the Dalvick cache
I download the rom Sammobil. com, have to register there, but they have all Roms

SO thats not the right rom i downloaded.
Edit: It is according to sammobile so will go ahead and see how it works

File says XEU.......generic, unbranded UK.......it seems OK!!! on first look.....

XXLA2....means Phone/PDA F/W
XX Region is Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and
LA2....means Year 2012, Month Jan, Revision 2
OXXKL4........CSC values are ambiguous???
OXX...........means OXX means unbranded Multi-CSC, which supports many Euro Languages
KL4....means Year 2011, Month November, Revision 4

But then there is the XEU....does this refer to CSC also???

AS for Messages not being sent, you set up the APN's for your provider???
Settings/Wireless and network/Mobile networks/Access Point Names.....maybe important

May be important, as I don't think all Irish Providers are included in the generic CSC xml files, like customer.xml, thers.xml, etc......

Im with meteor. Checked there and few of the settings seem to be different also few more on the phone that are not listed on the website, so going to give them a ring. Flashing the new rom as i type so see if that has any effect

Noob question: Can Odin change my German branded SM-G988B/DS to Nordic firmware?

Hello,
I am completely new to changing firmware using Odin, and I want to make sure, that I don't brick my phone
I have bought a S20 Ultra 512GB 5GB DS (Exynos), but it seems to be a German firmware, as it comes with Deutche Telekom apps preinstalled, two of which can't be uninstalled, and Samsung Members speak German instead of Danish.
My biggest issue, though, is that the latest OTA security update is May 1st.
Base band version: G988BXXU2ATE3
SAOMC_SM-G988B_OXM_DTM_QQ_0006
I found this: (can't post links on XDA yet):
samfw -> firmware- > SM-G988B -> NEE -> G988BXXU2ATF5
Which is for the scandinavian countries. (Nordic)

Sorry to be of bother...
I succesfully switched the CSC of the OXM firmware from DTM to NEE.
Now Service Provider Software Version is: SAOMC_SM-G988B_OXM_NEE_QQ0009
NEE/NEE,NEE/EUX/DTM
I know for sure, that the NEE models (though 128GB version) has received the One UI 3/Android 11 update.
But it is not offered as an OTA update to me.
I have rebooted twice, but still no OTA update.
I'm still stuck at an update from September/October.
Is it because mine is a 512GB version of S20 Ultra, while the rest of the NEE versions are 128GB?
Or is it because it still reads DTM at the end of ...NEE/EUX/DTM?
