Hi everyone,
I applied a theme to CyanogenMod v6 on the HTC desire and now my phone wont boot. Keeps switching, showing half of the CyanogenMod animation and then reset. It's been looping like this for about 10 minute snow.
I have done a backup from within ROM Manager but only seem to be able to access the default recovery menu and not ClockWork mod recovery menu.
....HELP!! Can anyone point in the right direction to get back to the ClockWorkMod from the bootloader?
Sorted, ran a r6-desire-root-alt batch file and it updated the phone and restored it.

I was originally running the rooted sense 2.2 rom and I attempted to switch to Leedroid using Rom Manager's "Install from SD Card". That went fine until it crashed at the end of the install process in recovery... Then it wouldn't boot (stuck at white background with green HTC). I attempted to redo the r5 root flash as it was the only other rom I had and I could still get into fastboot, but now (I'm assuming) it's stuck on the radio update part of the flash in step1... The fastboot flash zip command completed with an OKAY, but it hasn't yet rebooted - all I have is a black screen with the HTC logo and a full green progress bar.
I know unplugging it while doing a radio update is a big no-no, so what should I do? It's been sitting there like that for the last 20 minutes.
Edit: Well, after waiting for a while I bit the bullet and just unplugged it... And it works fine. No idea why it froze, though...
I managed to install cm7, but when i tried to go back to my default i coudnt get the 2ndinit boot menu to show, and it was missing frommy apps menu.
so ive re-installed 2nd init, and re-booted.
now im stuck on a grewy motorola logo.
ive managed to boot it into recovery, and the blue LED has come on, but al the options result in error messages.
help
Ive managed to get it to:
Android Bootmenu <v0.9.1-defy>
and its given me some options
Boot, this has set default
normal sotck
2ndinit cm7
2nd boot cm7
go back
the recovery option has latest recovery
stable recovery
stock recovery
ive tried several options, but nothing appears to work.
, now i just want ot re-load my back up that i made with clockwork mod of my origanal set up
please someone help, as iom goign out soon, and i need a working device
I've faced a related problem with the custom recovery. The simplest way is to flash an eclair SBF and then upgrade to Froyo. Just flash the 2.34.0 Eclair an than restore your nandroid. I'm not sure what will happen with your personal data, because I just wiped it from the recovery and then used Titanium Backup and MyBackup to roll it back. Good luck!
Ive managed to get the boot menu ( black thing with white text) back, so hopefully theres a chance to re-load the sbf file, and it is recognised by a P.C when in that mode.
However I dont have access to my main p.c at the moment, so it will have to wait, and i will have to make do with my old sony ericsson phone for the time being.
Now im back, and at home, wiht my own P.C ive managed to solve the issue via the boot/flash menu screen.
I pulled hte battery and turned the phone on holding the volume up button, then plugged it into my P.C, where it recognised the phone.
i was then able to flash the nordic SBF file, and it works, again
So i used clockwork mod recovery to check that i could go back if needed and it worked
then oi re-flashed the nordic SBF, re-rooted the phone, installed 2ndinit, and then used the recovery to load cm7.zip.
now all is well, and im running CM7
Today i tried to S-Of, root and upgrade my HTC Wildfire to Android Gringerbread 2.3. I did S-Of by AlphaRev and sucesfully rooted my phone, but i am stuck in upgradeing it. In Cloackwm Recovery i extracted a .zip file and update it without back up and selected reboot system now. Then the phone rebooted and there was htc boot picture then Cyanogenmod Animation started. I left my phone for about 20 minutes and i saw than nothing have changer so i tried
to turn it off but the power buttond didn't response so i removed battery and put it back and turn on again but there was the same thing, animation was rolling again and again. Then i removed battery again and turned phone in Recovery mod and i was clicking to all possible items and rebooted again but there was no any animation just htc pic stucked. Then i again do the same process and turned phone on and after cyanogen animation it turned on and was working propertly. But somehow i rebooted it and there was again the same animation again and again.
Please can you tell me what to do i, i will go crazy if i don't fix it!
The Problem: No matter what custom rom I load...it boots into an apparently endless display of the colorful boot animation that comes stock on the Nexus. I have to battery pull to get out of it. I've got an Unlocked/Rooted phone w/clockwork recovery working. I can backup and successfully restore the OEM rom I backed up after each failed custom rom install attempt.
I've been working through issue after issue all evening and have continued to hit the same problem no matter what my approach.
I've got Rom Manager and can download and load ROMS via it's GUI - or by booting into clockwork recovery and doing it manually by choosing the zip I previously downloaded. I've renamed the oem recovery file in system etc... still no joy getting anything to boot successfully except the OEM image I backed up.
Could someone point me in the right direction?

How long exactly are you waiting on the boot animation? when you first flash a new rom, it can often take a long time on this screen first boot up. be patient. dont pull the battery unless its been like 15 minutes
can you give us any info on what phone you are using, and which roms you tried?
When you flash a completely different ROM, you HAVE to do a full data wipe in CWM.
When you update the current ROM, you have to do a wipe cache and dalvik cache.
And like the guy above said, it can take a while on first boot.

Progress
First - Thanks for the help. I did a full data/cache wipe right before attempting to flash a ROM and it worked. Didn't even take longer than usual to boot into the OS.
I had done that earlier but I think it must have been the order I had followed or something. Regardless - I got a ROM up and running and can repeat the process reliably
Of course - there is another hurdle that I don't find anything on so far...if I add the google apps to the ROM I get stuck in a crashing Verizon login wizard. "Touch here" results in a crash message and the wizard restarts.
I can access settings and use the phone - but "Home" is the wizard.
Hi!
So just a quick background. I have S-OFF'd and flashed a custom ROM on my mates Desire HD few years back and have a bit knowledge about the device.
Today I showed him some of the 4.1-4.2 ROMs available for DHD. In TWRP I did a nandroid backup of his current Blackout ICS and flashed CM10.1. Everything went just fine, but the ROM was not the right for him, so I tried Venom Sense 4.1. I did a clean install on the Venom ROM and wiped everything in Aroma.
Apparently I was not focused enough and the Aroma installation failed with just the wipe. No ROM installed. Phone rebooted with no ROM and the caught stuck while booting. I thought this was no biggie and I would just restore the backup from TWRP.
Then all suddenly went to hell in a hand basket. Phone was/is unable to boot into bootloader with any vol+/- combination. It won't boot into recovery ether. Just straight into the ROM, which is not there -> bootloop.
TL;DR No ROM installed, unable to boot into bootloader or recovery. ADB/Fastboot showing no signs of connection.
Did I just buy myself a dead DHD and an angry friend?
EDIT: SOLVED. So, issue was solved by 1000 times randomly pulling the battery and pressin vol up and down. 999 tries straight booted into the OS, but 1000th try somehow got me into the hboot. No idea why or how.
