I just got root and flashed cm6. I was redownloading apps, one which was till touch to talk. The app will not work because in my settings, about phone, mobile number, it says unknown. How do I get it to say my number? The area is greyed out so I cannot click. Thanks in advance.

That is a problem thats been mentioned before check out the nightlies thread or the official thread idk if there is a fix or not

I haven't seen anything on it yet. Thanks though. Hopefully that gets fixed which I imagine it will.

Try a fresh install some people said that helped or try a different rom and see if it shows up if it doesn't call tmo and talk to them and say your number isn't showing up in settings it could be on tmo end

Maybe I will try a different rom. I called tmo but they didn't help cause they had to send an ota update which doesn't go through to the phone. Any recommended roms?

Well try or the crmod updated rom its the closest to stock so if it doesn't do it then it is a tmo problem

Ahh .. found the fix. Cyanogen actually implemented a setting in cm6 due to this problem. Go to settings-call settings-additional settings-then number. Once you type it in, it writes it to the sim card.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
i've done this, however if you reboot the phone or put it into airplane mode the number gets wiped and you need to reprogram it.
Oh. Well thanks for the info. I can live with that for now. Then again, I don't ever shut my phone off. Lol
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
lol me either, except when i'm on the train - or flashing the nightlies in which case I need to redo it multiple times a day!
I noticed today that the voicemail number is also not saved to the sim card, or doesn't read it. Not a big deal since 123 dials voicemail. However it does prevent you from using visual voicemail and other services.

not me, if it was the Desire HD I'd be more inclined to consider it. for me they are gonna have to come stepping a lot better than this to get me to drop atleast $200 on another phone before next summer. minimum... 2nd Gen Snapdragon 1.2GHz, 4+ inch screen and hard keyboard (yeah, Swype is faster for most but with my hands being jacked up from turning wrenches for the Army I prefer real keyboard)
yes I know the Desire HD doesn't have a hard keyboard... that is why I said I'd consider it
Nope not till they get some OTA's to it to fix the signal problem its having. I hear it doesnt get a good signal as other android phones do. Thats the problem I had with vibrant. maybe in a month or two.
Nope not at all.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using Tapatalk
The diference between the desire hd and new mytouch, is that the desire hd has a bigger screen, no FFC, I think no HSPA+, but it has the better newer sense ui, but rumor is HTC is giving phones updates in december of this year, to get the new sense ui

nope
The main thing i love about this phone is the slide out keyboard. mytouchHD or 4g or whatever it's called, doesn't have that. major no for me. on the brightside it does have video calling, but personally don't know a lot of people i could do that with so not needed for me.

How much do you wanna bet, a few months past the release date, there will be a post just like this in the 4G section sayin "anyone ditching their MyTouch 4G for the MyTouch incredibly awesome and extreme?". Lol I'm just saying. With the way t-mobile has been pushing out MyTouch phones quicker than mexican mothers push out babies (I'm mexican not racist) the 4G will probably fade just a quick as the slide.

Yeah I agree, there's always a better phone on the horizon so you're better off picking one you like and sticking with it.
Something to keep in mind for those of you who are unhappy with the Slide, S-OFF is coming soon and once we have that we will be able to do more things to the device.

Your right about there is always a "better" phone coming, but I think the G2 and the new MyTouch will be pushed for the next year. The Slide just came out at a crappy time and got no love from T-Mo, hell you can't weven get a decent case for it.
And no I'm not switching for two reasons, no keyboard means no go and my wife would kick my a** if I got another phone this soon.

i really wanna keep my slide and push it like i did with the g1
but it is kinda sad the dev part is so slow and people pretty much abandoned it
#savetheslide
I have to say, i just looked and some of the reviews of the 4G, and i am not impressed. 4G is a no go for me.
I might wait it out for a dual-core phone of the 1.5ghz cpus. The 4G is okay, but doesnt improve on the slide that much or even the ui.
Any news/estimated dates on when we might be seeing CM7 for the slide??

It's been in the nightlies for a couple weeks now. If you're looking for a stable-designated release, who knows.
O alright. Appreciate da info
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App

I wish ppl could figure out which phones this affects and why. I don't flash nightlies nightly, but I haven't had a FC yet with calls. Most of the time, I'd consider that a feature instead of a bug anyway
There were issues with the dialer force closing on builds 15-17. 18 was released and I haven't had any issues yet.
Yeah I flashed the latest and greatest just now, and everything seems g2g.

Just want to ask how come android tablets are able to upgrade to 4G but not mobile phones like our great Incredible 2 ?....Arnt they similar ?
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA Premium App
In tablets, such as the Xoom, there is the necessary hardware to make it work with 4G. When it comes to our phone, the hardware is only meant to work with 3G. We don't have the right radio hardware to receive a 4G LTE signal, and never will.
Also, to upgrade the xoom to 4g, it will have to be sent in to Motorola. It's not just an OTA that activates LTE.
I can't get 4G LTE to connect with my GNEX. When I was on stock I got 4G LTE, since I rooted and started using ROMs I haven't been able to get 4G. I switch the data switch to LTE/CDMA and never get 4G. I tried updating my profile, prl, radio, everything. I get decent 3G speeds but just wanna know the reason why I don't get 4G. Is it the Roms? Or..
BTW I'm in San Antonio, Texas and we do have 4G LTE here.

Well wasn't running it then but am now. Make a nandroid and flash jellybro? Try that see if that works. If so then CNA has an LTE issue.

The lte towers in Texas are wonky as hell. I've had 4g on and off at my apt since July 10th or so but it never stays on. Search the market for an app called Sensorly. It is the most accurate LTE map I've come across. BTW I think sprint users should start getting on their asses about this. The whole reason I upgraded from epic is because they promised it in Dallas etc by the middle of July. But you can tell by lookin at the true coverage area that its just a joke to them.

I thought all at least most of San Antonio would have 4G LTE. Sprint 3G speeds are fine, but every other main carrier has 4G. Sprint's slacking. On the coverage map for the 4G LTE all of San Antonio is highlighted. So untrue. I know it just launched and is still kinda new, but i haven't even gotten a chance to use it or test it.
We're from the same city! I thought I should just trow that in there! Flash back to stock and if it keeps happening just go to a sprint store

I'm saying its not on at all.. but the coverage isn't anywhere near what it should be. At least in the dfdub.
