the clue is in the title...any time i try to add a bookmark in browser it crashes and i get the following error:
The application Browser (process com.andorid.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

I have cleared all caches and data and whatnot but the problem keeps coming back. I'm using OpenDesire 3.1.0.
Try a different ROM perhaps?
It might be the rom. Have you reported it to the dev?
i figured it was most likely a rom-side issue but just wanted to check. i just got my first android device so the only other rom i have tried so far is leedroid which uses the HTC browser and that works fine.
any suggestions for other precautions i should take before reporting a problem with the rom?

I got the same error message yesterday when trying to access the bookmark when I'm on the web via the menu setting. I am using the t mobile stock android 1.15.110.11, and the onboard browser, I don't know what's going on. It was working perfectly before. I've even tried loading the bookmark widget onto the home screen and it' telling me that there are no bookmarks. So i logged onto the web and added a bookmark, which i was able to do, but when i tried to go into the bookmark, it came up with the same error message. As a last resort, I removed the battery and rebooted the phone, but to no avail. If you find a solution, please let me know

i noticed that if you open the history menu rather than the bookmarks menu, and then add the bookmark by highlighting the star on the history menu, you can add your bookmarks without the browser crashing. not an ideal solution but it works.

Hello all,
In the past week, Opera does not want to stay signed in/logged in to any website, including this one.
Example: I go to my iGoogle page, which should normally just come up, but I need to log in. I log in, my page shows up, great. Then I want to go to Gmail from ny iGoogle, and I have to sign in again. If I want to read an e-mail, log in again. If I want to reply to the e-mail I'm reading, log in again. Just to write this question, I had to log in twice, and I'll probably have to to submit it as well. It's getting annoying.
I have no such problems with Skyfire or the built-in IE. I haven't changed any settings, always make sure I check "stay logged in" if the option is available. I did clear cookies and cache about 2 months ago, but there was no difference until last week. The only things I have added lately were a few of brent's coloured icons. I use Clean Ram almost daily, have for months, and have soft reset at least once a week.
I have a Telus TP2 (CDMA), original ROM, using Opera that's built in.
If anyone knows or has suggestions, they would be appreciated.

I'm not positive on this one, but I'd suspect that Opera's "turbo mode" might be stripping your saved login info...it routes all website data through their servers, so there's a chance that login info won't be persistent through that. To disable that for testing this, just select the "options" menu in Opera, and then un-select the "Opera Turbo" option near the top...then see if once you login one more time, it still doesn't retain that for you.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't change a thing. Had to log in 3 times just to get to this page, very frustrating.
Side note, the "options" menu wasn't where you said it was. I still found it using the search function in "opera:config". Maybe my particular build of 9.5.
Anyone else care to take a shot at it? Or should I just go to a newer version of Opera, and will it overwrite the existing one so it's the default?

Ahh yes I'd assumed you were on 9.7 or higher, didn't realize any versions of the TP2 had 9.5 as the default version.
As I understand it, installing any version of Opera subsequent to the one installed by default on your stock ROM will actually create a completely new discreet install of the new version, and the original will still be on there...that's what happend when I installed 10.
More info can be found on my signature link
Thank you, orb3000, however, you have more than one clickable link in your signature, one of them I obviously was able to eliminate. The Opera thread has 186+ pages, and while I would love to have the time to slog through it, even a search of it yielded no results for my particular predicament.
A hint on approximately which one of those many pages would be appreciated.
I recently reflashed back to Task's ROM from stock, and am now getting this error message whenever trying to connect to the xda forum site from my S3.
Error: Requested content 'forum.xda-developers.com/ cannot be resolved.
This error only occurs on XDA's forums, form any browser. I can access any other site that I want except the forums. I can not get there from a Google link or direct address. I clean flashed, with a full wipe, cache/dalvik, I've cleared the app data for every browser. Is there a way to fix this without having to full wipe again and start over. Why just the XDA site??? Also, I can access it when using wi-fi, but not mobile data. I'm going mad.....Please help.
++SOLUTION++
The problem is directly related to the Chrome bookmark widget. When I am asked to set a default, and I chose Chrome, I get the connection error to XDA every time. When I set the default to Dolphin Browser. I connect no problem. Hope this helps others. If you have this issue without the bookmark widget, just try to reset chrome defaults in application manager.

Not sure why you're getting this error but you can use the app instead (or a forum app like tapatalk).
Ya thats a off error. You might make a back up of your current ROM and try another one to see what it does just for giggles. But i would have to agree with getting the app. there is a free and paid app. I would recomend the paid app as it throws a little support to xda and all they do, but either one works really good and is much easier to use and navigate
Thanks for the replies guys. I have downloaded the xda app and it just sits at the splash screen. Looks like its time for a nandroid/ other rom. Appreciate the help.
Re: [Q] Error: Requested content 'forum.xda-developers.com/ cannot be resolved.
I'm having the exact same same problem too and on the same rom. I've had this happen before and I just left it alone for the day and it just fixed itself
sent from the scary door.....
same here. tried full wipes different roms, over wifi, xda app bookmarks, links, different browsers and on different areas of the province (different types of networks) nothing same error every time
Solved
The problem was with the Chrome Widget. See OP for specifics.
i am having this issue as well with chrome and stock "browser" browser as well, but on pac-man rom as well as aokp and some other touchwiz based roms.
I have also noticed i only get the error on data but not wifi.
I have cleared chrome's defaults and no fixy. and i dont use the widget... not sure how or why you think its that.... or what we are supposed to do about a widget thats built into chrome...
EDIT: more research... it has to do with your carrier blocking websites through their servers. some people have fixed by changing to a different apn address in mobile network options.
I have had no such luck.
Hello all. Please care with me as Im a newb and am unsure if Im even posting in the right place! I've recently rooted my sprint GS2 and have been enjoying all that i can do with it now. But hue come across a problem and Im not even sure if its related to my rooting the phone or not. I've recently tried to use my "bookmarks to SD" app and found that it goes through the motion but nothing saves. I check the dolphin browser export box then export and it says that it saved my bookmarks but when i go to import then into my stock browser i get nothing. If i try to export from my stock browser it works fine. Plus, i can no longer use the sync option with Google. It tells me that my login attempt failed even though i used the correct information and was on my home Wifi connection. My end goal is to be able to import my bookmarks to my tablet. I simply can't find any other way to do this. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Hi, after a little time (1-2 hours, i don't know it exactly) that I don't enter in xda-deverlopers.com website it requests me to sign in even if I selected "Remember me" on the login form and i didn't log out. I use Chromium, I tried to wipe my cookies but it's always the same. The only reason I thought is that when I enter with the Android app it closes my existing session. Ideas? Thanks.
I don't get logged out when I use the XDA app, it might be different with newer versions.
Anyway, in Chromium: Settings > Show Advanced Settings > Privacy > Content Settings > "Allow local data to be set" should be checked.
Also check you're not clearing your cookies (either directly or using a 3rd party program).

Nothing of these... :crying:
I block only 3rd-party cookies, but it's only google/youtube stuff. forum.xda-developers.com is allowed.
EDIT: I notice now that 4 cookies (__utmc __bblh __bblogedin and __bbsessionhash) expire when the navigation session is closed.
I have the same problem with Chrome, too.

I'm experiencing the same problem as well. When I close my browser & then try to get back to XDA, I'll have to log in again, and this has been happening for probably about a year now. It's quite frustrating.
Same issue here, started noticing it in the last couple of weeks. I looked at my cookies and see that "xdaloggedin" cookie is set to expire in 15 min by default, regardless if Remember Me is checked.
Using the latest stable version of Chrome.
It seems a Chrome/Chromium-related bug. My laptop with Opera successfully keep me logged in after 1 day.
Inviato dal mio Sony Xperia Sole attraverso l'app ufficiale xda-developers
yup same problem here on chrome
gotta add my 2 cents:
i'm on PaleMoon (FF source) and i have to log in every time i open the forum in the browser :/
any solution for this frustrating bug?
I also have this problem, but...
Every time I start Chrome or idle for some time and visit the forum index (http://forum.xda-developers.com/), it appears that I am not logged in. If I click "Forget password", it will go to the "Forget password" page, but then on the top-right corner it says I am logged in. After that if I go back to the index page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php) or whatever page, it will continue to say that I am logged in.
But then if I go back to http://forum.xda-developers.com/, it says I am not logged in, not until I do a complete refresh (Ctrl + F5) then it says I am logged in again.
It is even stranger that if I go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and press Ctrl + F5 before clicking on the "Forget password" link, it will continue to show that I am not logged in.
* Note the subtle differences in links
Ya the same problem happens on my chrome I have to login every time even though I click remember me...

Same thing happens to me in Chrome, but it seems fine in IE. I think I'd rather carry on logging in than use IE though...

I just started having this problem in Chrome, too. I agree, I'd rather log in constantly than switch to IE.
Though, I have to say, Chrome is becoming somewhat unreliable. Just yesterday, Chrome froze when ebay tried connecting me to paypal to pay for a purchase. IE handled the same interaction just fine. That should always be the low end of your bookmark: "Do better than IE."
...same for me but as soon as I click on any room then it recognize me as logged-in AND
after 20 seconds
--- if I click back on my XDA favorites shortcut it keeps me logged-in
---- if I click on the forum home-page icon it recognize me as logged-in
I've been having this issue since I started using the forums, and I use Firefox exclusively, so it can't be a Chrome-only issue.
i get logged off only if i check forums via xda android app (which is terribly slow after last update). ohhh i use firefox
Hey guys, try clearing your cache in the browser you're experiencing the issue. I've had this problem as well, but seemed to be resolved after clearing cache/cookies.

I've had this issue on both Firefox and Chrome for a long, long time. I've never understood why my login is not persistent but have just lived with it... 'til now.
I'll try the above fix and see what that does for me.

no i dont think its because of that.i see that the SUI restarts somehow. It might be because of the incompatibility of the facebook application to the screen resolution of the G3??i really dont have a clue about whats going on.ive read several posts about chromecast crashes on several forums.
Any ideas?
I have the same problem when in ART mode. Revert back to default mode fix the issue.
