Is there a way to use the HTC calendar style date picker control in my own program?
Or, is it something that could be ripped out of an apk and used in my own program?
Just curious if anyone has done this before.... I like being able to 'flick' the wheels, the stock control is a little boring.

its a part of either the framework apk or resources apk. but the files in the apk are linked to a .jar that controls the function of not only that selector, but just about everything else in the OS that is java related. so you could probably find and pull the png files, but unless you know java code and can write the function on your own itll be worthless.

Hey there guys.
Just a quick one.
I have seen a couple of screen shots around (although can't remember where now) of a slightly differend clock widget background containing a little android Droid.
Anyone know how this is done? Maybe through applying a theme?
I have root and JF1.3 RC8 etc etc so not probs there.
Thanks
Phil
usually it's done through a theme, but you can actually just take the clock icon out of someones theme that has it, it's in the drawable folder of launcher.apk.
If you pull your launcher.apk file just copy the clock you want to the drawable folder on it and push launcher.apk back to your phone.
Cool.
Where is the launcher.apk?
Sorry... just starting with this phone and not totally fond my way round its files etc yet.
Thanks
it'll be under apps in any theme update file....
check out my theme... it has a ubuntu feel, with old themed clock like ubuntu's wallpaper
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469710
also changed fonts, and boot screen
Sorry. I meant where on the phone is the file (where would I copy from/to in order to put the custom clock image into the launcher.apk file.
Like that theme but don't really fancy any themes at all and just want the clock on its own really.
Thanks
Phil
You would have to edit the launcher.apk like they said then push it by its self to your G1 then you will have the clock and the rest of your theme will stay the same.
What they are leaving is that you must open the firmware package of your choice and edit the launcher.apk from the correct sub-folder. To be honest if you're not well adjusted to hacking up a firmware I wouldn't just start experimenting without proper guidence and reading of the available documentation on this platform. If you go about it half assed that's what you're gonna get.
Hi all,
I am trying to create some WM6.x app's based on .NET3.5 with Visual Studio 2008.
What I find is that the default libraries contain only very boring sliders, and like the nice sliders that most app's have these day's do give a more intuitive look and feel to an app.
Is there somewhere a set of these components, like a HTC TF3D SDK-isch tingy for my on/off switches and sliders.
You know red/green sliders.
thanks in advance.
you need to install one of the wm themes. the .net framework by itself won't let you change those things unless you override classes (like onRender).
eg i use this theme .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4653738
and as far as a htc looking UI have a look at this SDK. it allows you to create UI elements in the htc style. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4653738 . but, it has a few bugs and hasnt been updated in a while.. it is extensible though so you can make your own UI elements.

THANKS!!!!!!
Hello everyone
I would like to say first that i did use the search but didnt find the answer i needed.
So here goes
I'm trying to install a full icon set on my Galaxy S I9000 but i have no idea how to do that
example:
DINIK's "HD2" IconSet
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591248
When i search i see people using bettercut or apps organizer and some other app to apply the icon packs.
I'm getting the idea you have to apply them 1 by 1 but i hope its not the case.
I'm using ADW launcher if that helps
many thanks in advance
I dont know if I understand you, but if you want to apply icon packs or multiple icons using ADW, then you need to install an ADW theme. Else you have to do it one by one using any other app (e.g. Bettercut) or using ADWs icon packs via the custom shortcut option. These only work on home screens as far as i know, I'm not sure if you can change the icon in the app drawer if you are trying to do that too.
Or you can just make your own ADW theme..
i've been looking for an app that can change icons (app drawer included) but to no avail. i'm using LPP
It would be great to be able to edit the drawer icons with ease, but dont think its possible

First of all... I am not sure if you know this but these icons seem to be for Windows Mobile and not Android so I dont know if they will work.
Secondly... I am running Launcher Pro Plus and use an app called Desktop Visualizer to change my icons.
What you need to do is find the icon packs in a zip file format and either unzip them directly to your SGS or unzip them to the computer and transfer the images to your device via USB. From there you startup Desktop Visualizer and follow the prompts for selecting the icon of your choice, linking it to its function, etc...
I hope this helps. If anyone has an easier way please advise...

Folder Organizer lets you assign different icons to apps/folders/contacts/etc. It automatically scans your system for icons, which is cool, but you still have to apply them one by one. This doesn't change the icons in the app drawer though. If I understand correctly, to change an app's icon you need to edit the .apk before installing.
@ jumba
i need better cut.. @ market it is paid.. is there any free link or lite version

Also Folder Organizer is VERY slow....
Clicking the normal icon is instant... clicking you handmade Folder Organizer version of that icon takes 2 secs before the app even starts.
Looks good, but slower then normal.
I think the only way to do the correctly is to edit the framework.apk or something.
Until now I have had no succes finding the icons in any apk to replace them...
Idealy you want to unzip an apk, replace al the icons you want and flash it back.

But to do that you need to resign the apk files (if it's a market app). Not a easy thing to do.
I used mClock a lot on my Incredible 2 and I like that I can use pre-formatted XML files on it. Buuuuut it hasn't been updated in a year and doesn't show up correctly on my phone. (This may be due to my ROM, may work on stock, IDK...)
Are there any other alternatives? I know about Make your Own Clock Widget but I can't import XML files, I don't think?
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to modify the background of the sense 5 weather clock (the one that flips with the weather juuuust below it) not to make it transparent like everybody else is doing. I'm trying to theme it to go with a modified app drawer image and navigation bar image. The problem is I don't know which files to edit in order to do that. Could anyone here give me some advice or pointers?
Yes I have searched for a guide or tut to do it but all I find is people supplying one they made or pointing at a thread that has them already made. I would like to do this myself though.
Thanks in advance for any help
Have you heard of sense 5 toolbox? You can set transparency of many items...

Where is that image? I took a look inside of the prism apk but found nothing by that name.
But for everyone else reading, I'm not looking for transparency, I'm trying to overlay another image over, thus changing how the panel looks.

Are you talking about the panel where the weather condition is ?
That is common_panel.9.png in com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi
Changing this will affect the widgets background too
Thats the one!!!

YES THAT'S THE ONE!
Just in case I added a screenshot, I circled the panel jsu so that everyone knows what I'm talking about. I found that common_panel.9.png but it's basically just a circle?
What I want to do is make that panel look like the navbar you see in the image I attached, if it's just a circle then it might not work or be possible.
Nobody have any ideas?
Does nobody here have any ideas on how to achieve this?

In both Sense 5 and Sense 5.5, the png is indeed found in the resources apk. It is the common_panel.9.png and it can be themed but only basically. The best you can do with it is make it with a border either transparent or semi. However, depending on how skilled you are with editing xml, you could put a custom PNG in the drawable folder and edit the layouts to navigate to that specific image. That way your newly themed image will be used and not the common_panel.9.png. If you look at my theming thread from Sense 5.5, you'll see what I mean.
