Market install bug on Froyo !? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I've used different Froyo Roms, and have allways the same Problems:
The Market download's the app till 100% but don't start the installation.
Here is the log:

Sometimes it work ... sometimes not ...

go to settings/applications, find the market, delete the data (not cache) when you go to market you will have to accept the terms and conditions agains, but your download should work fine, do this every 10 or so downloads and you will have no problem

market issues failed downloads
same problem for me.. this solution doesn't work as it shows all is empty nothing to delete.. any more ideas??

maybe check your ext 3...or play with install location apk
with kind regards..Alex

doesn't help... stil having the problem.
anyone can walk me through Alex's suggestion to resolve the issue? I'm new to this.
thanks

i´m see that tip in another thread...the user say...create a ext3 with rom manager...go into recovery...format all....and flash the rom...don´t know if it work...i don´t have such problems...but good luck

Looks like my ext partition "goes for a walk" once I try installing stuff to it, which causes "Dnownload paused\unsuccessful" error in Market.
Just checked with Starburst Data2sd - post-flash Internal phone storage showed >500mb (i.e. including the ext partition), after attempting installation from Market (predictably unsuccessful) this figure fell to ~50Mb.
Tried partitioning card via Amon-Ra 2.0.1 recovery, acronis, minitool partition wizard - no difference.
Solutions, anyone?

I take it, this problem only happens when downloading large apps?
If so, there are some threads here about issues downloading large apps.

No, not so. Problem was when downloading ANY apps, not large sized ones.
After multiple reflashes, repartitionings and so on, I managed to install LeeDroid 2.4 with app2sd, which, however, works unsatisfactorily.
At the beginning it was OK (functioning + downloading apps from market);
Then it started rebooting (when installing apps from market \ apk's; when attempting to browse through TitaniumBackup's backup list).
Then it refused to download apps just like before ("solved" by connecting to PC in Charge mode, maybe has to do with ADB Debug thing?)
So, I am mighty puzzled by all this; never thought I'd be so helpless with a simple PDA... Kinda makes me remeber the WM days with nostalgia.
---
UPD: Repartitioned flash card using minitool Partition Wizard (looks just like acronis disk director but runs faster and is free), installed LeeDroid 3.0.2 (it's android 2.3) - no problems with market so far. So maybe it's really to do with Froyo.

SD card not loaded on startup with aku 3.2

hi falks ,
i have tried the 3 available sources of aku 3.2 rom on this beloved forum, from the 3 UNI gladiators ; the same problem occuring in each rom; icons fail to be retreived from apps on the sdcard, forum gurus had a vision that this is becoz the sdcard is not loaded on startup..... also , it is impossible to use an sdcard app on the startup folder, probably for the same reason, is there any way to work around this , or perhaps set a delay on startup apps untill they r able to be read from the sdcard ??????
hale to the uni genius guys, they help to make our life easier
Did you see this in my ROM?
And what are you trying to run from your SD card?
indeed
yes indeed , i m using your beautiful rom currently, 94 ...
i tried to put mobitools on the startup running from the sdcard , however , system couldnt find it on startup . yet after system complete the startup process ( 60 sec may be) , i can run mobitools manually. ( this is why i was thinking of setting a delay before running startup apps .
any , the MOST annoying bug i incountered in the THREE roms (lt.comdr, indra, jwr) was that ALL today plugin lounchers applications FAILED to retreive icons from any app installed on the sdcard, instead , it shows the ugly generic windows standard exe icons (and sometimes even a folder icon) .
i used most of the available lounchers including : spb plus 3.4 , handy shortcut, clouncher, shortcut manager , and even the START menu itself, shows the same problem.
- browsing the sdcard using explorer does not correct the problem.
- i m using sandisk ultra II sdcard (2gb) with a FAT32 system.
For your kind care ,
Let me look into it. I will try a few setting changes and such to see what I can figure out, if anything at all....
I will keep you posted.
-Jwrightmcps
P.S. I released a newer version of my ROM 1.90.96 WWE, I suggest you upgrade if possible (It contains a few corrections and patches)
i already downloaded it , can u tell us what are the changes?
will flash it now

Hi, I have a similar with the same version, it seems that the SDCARD is loaded with lots of delay. For my part, i had modified the registry to point email folders to SDCARD, with work well. When i soft reset, a directory Storage Card is created under root and the SDCARD is mounted as Storage Card2. As workaround, I deleted the fake Storage Card directory and unplug and replug the SDCard and the mount was then ok. But problems reappear after soft reset.
Anybody can help here?

I think I remember someone else have this problem before, but I could not remember how they solved it. Did you reformat your SD card using your computer?

I am using AKU 3.2 version .94 and spb pocket plus 3.1.2 ( latest version ), and I have more than 15 programs installed on my 4Gb SD card. All of them have an icon in SPB, and they never disappear. Could it be that you SD is slower ? Mine is a 150x Transcend card.
I have tested the Start menu behaviour also. I placed two SD-based program links in the start menu, and made a soft reset to see if the icons will still be there : NO, they disappear. So there I see the same problem unfortunately...

I installed AKU 3.2 1.90.96 on my qtek9000, from programs on sd-card, (like sprite backup, mobipocket reader, magic ss, tcpmp, opera, PromilleCheck, StDict, Skype) created icons with TC under Start Menu/Programs and everyone works fine, after more soft resets also. It's a noname sd-card, 155X.
In Windows\Start Menu\Programs are *.lnk files, like this: xnpocket.exe lnk. Content: 56#"\Storage Card\Program Files\XnView Pocket\xnpocket.exe"
well, i installed spb plus 3.1.2 , and i reformated the sdcard into fat16 using pocket mechanic , without a fat backup , BUT NOTHING CHANGED, still the same problem

works for me
oppppppps error.
i used the tweak 2K2 speed sd card , and the PNP hack , i dont use i louncher, i use spb plus (and start menu) AND STILL NOTHING.
just wanna know if this is universal for all sdcards or is it specificly for sandisk

Free pace on Bada 1.2

Hi, this is my first post, so I hope i'm in the right place and i'm writing the right things..
Just yesterday i flahed my Wave with the firmware XIKA1 and i noticed something really boring.
Windows7 x86 recognizes 3 memory space :
OSP (operative system partition as far as i know.. )
Phone (the internal memory of the wave)
and Card (my Sd Card)
Now what's wrong is that Phone is 390Mb only and this is what happen when i try to install something: (setting the installation setting to "internal memory")
Through Kies i click on "Install" and the "Download" starts.
The phone memory begins to be filled and (in the case of Sygic Mobile [330MB]) the "free space" became 30Mb (or nearly). Entering in this folder I noticed some folder, whitin this folder there was something like "tmp" etc.. I opened it and i found a file with the extension .OAP (330MB).
When the installation progress was finished the OAP file disappeared and the OSP part was decreased of 300MB! (how the hell bada transfered 300mb in 1 sec??)
But it's normal..and now i want to install Let's Golf 2 HD which is 299MB BUT! i cant.. because Bada think there is no sufficient space!
How can this be possibile? I have still 361Mb even if i should have something like 500mb (I just noticed that uninstalling Let's Golf (which is 50MB) I reached to unlock 136mb!! (I had 225mb of free space in OSP, I uninstalled let's golf 1 and now i have 361MB). I'm getting crazy.
Hoping you have an aswer to this strange result I apologize for my English and whish you a good day.

when you click 'install' the application package is downloaded to the phone (.oap file, it's a classic compressed installation archive), then the phone will install/decompress it in the appropriate directory (according to the chosen installation target) and finished it eliminates the oap file
(eg. Let's Golf installation archive is 55mb but application files are 135mb)
... I really feel stupid. I completely forgot that the size of the installation file isn't the size of the installed software. So maybe Let's Golf 2 HD has an installation of 300MB but it take a lot more.. Sad.
One doubt remain: The Wave should has 2GB of internal memory. If 800Mb are for OSP and 400MB for "Phone" ... where are the other 800MB we could use?
may be useful to you:
http://code.google.com/p/badadroid/wiki/Bada_MoviNAND_layout
Thanks nbates66
So our misterious 800MB are divided into:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 and /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 !
I hope that with Bada 2.0 we will have part of this space usable
Keep up the good work with Android porting Good Luck.

°_° absurd! ok... I wasted my 1 Euro.
For the partitioning question: personally i think that 545.280K for MMS and E-mail is simply useless!

I agree, perhaps it's because they designed the OS to store in same place sms+email and emails could be html with lots of image and especially large attachments..

[Q] Recovered Verizon r800x via Flashtool after OTA now I cannot download from market

I had the issue where I had a brick after the OTA. After recovering via:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1126358
The device was recovered but I noticed that the market no longer will allow for download. The error I received is that the device has insufficient space and cannot download the file. This is with any file that I try from the market. Other applications allow for download.
Strange thing is the that the system under
Setting/Storage/Available space is reporting 65mb available
in contrast to:
Setting/Application Settings/Storage use is reporting 78mb available
Anyone having this problem?

same problem here as well except after a bit now my market force closes.
I am having this exact same problem as well.

Code:

I/vending ( 554): [67] DownloadManagerBroadcastReceiver.startNextDownload(): No more paused downloads.

W/vending ( 554): [67] DownloadManagerBroadcastReceiver.handleDownloadCompletedAction(): Couldn't find pathname for completed download URI: content://downloads/my_downloads/5 -- assuming the download failed.
Where is the internal download storage supposed to be located?

I think the fix for the forced OTA was intended non R800X phones. I don't know much about how the internal storage is partitioned and formatted on these phones, but apparently it repaired the trim area that was corrupted by the unlocked bootloader + new OTA bootloader. My theory is that the non-R800X image we flashed to fix the brick problem caused a problem with either the partitioning or one of the filesystems on a partition on the internal storage. We probably either need to fix a partition or filesystem on the internal storage, or flash a CDMA/R800X image to repair the trim area. I don't know where to get that though...

Well after flashing back to stock I realized that I would probably want the update more than having a phone that has 80% functionality. So I unrooted and relocked the bootloader, went back to stock and...I am pleasently surprised.
WIFI tether works. Media Server, Auto Brightness, rapid boot times. I mean this is pretty good. I would love to have a rooted ver. of this build. I mean I love having a rooted phone as much as the next guy but for us 800x guys it kinda pointless to have root with no stable custom ROMs and Kernels to expand the functionality and increase speed.
Man, I'm totally torn on what to do here. I'd much rather have CM7, but according to the State of Dev thread, no outgoing SMS? That's rather debilitating...
Then there's back to stock, unrooted with official update. I believe that's a trap door you might not be able to come back through in the future.
Decisions. Maybe I'll hold off and manually install apks as necessary for now...
Attain ROOT,delete all market related data/apks and download a new one.
Maybe that will help?Very Doubtful but if you flashed, and restored app, some are BOUND not to work (like FUN AND DOWNLOADS!)!

no issues on CM7 as of yet, I bumped down their over clock from 1.5GHz to 1.2GHz. I have no need to have it that high when the phone worked fine at 1.0GHz. I gained well around 200MB+ of storage space, installed everything that I had before (before it was all on the memory card) on the phone and I still have more space then what I had before I made the switch. Calls work, DPS Manager is a pointless addition since it doesn't do what it is supposed to do on the R800x. I am noticing a little more battery drain then usual but that could also be me from setting the phone back up to how I used it before.
PSXperia doesn't work but I have a paid version of FPSE to hold me over. And touch pads wont work till next release but I hardly play any games that require them.
My only problem right now is their thread, it is so scrambled, i mean I shouldnt have to read every page to find information about bugs with the phone. or find out the release change notes. I will keep you updated on what works and what doesn't.

[Q] EQDKP Sense 3.5[m1ndh4x8r mod] - DATA2SD problem

Hello,
I tried to install the ROM DATA2SD for EQDKP Sense 3.5 - GB2.3.5 idogx base - OC Kernel [m1ndh4x8r mod], but after installation, the screen remained blank on the HTC logo.
So I reinstall the ROM without DATA2SD.
Now everything works fine but when I want to install an app 'of the market, reboot the phone ...
Can someone help me?
Thank you.
did you boot the rom first to allow the system to fully setup before installing
data2sd? if not, that maybe the reason
Data2sd takes more time after installation.
Maybe is something wrong with the microSD card. I understand that data2sd works better only with microSD card with class 6 or above.
klacenas : yes I started the phone, I even disabled the quick start as recommended ...
TheHappyBoy : How do I know if my card is class 6? It 8GB. I will test with another card to see if this solves the problem.
If anyone has another solution, I am always taking,
Thank you.
Maybe you did wrong patrion...
1- FAT32 (PRIMARY)
2- Ext4 (PRIMRY)
3 - Linux swap (primary)
Try to delete all patrions, and try re-do
If phone doesnt boot and at splash after data2sd install. re flash data2sd again then reboot, that'll fix problems.
sometimes data2sd installer skips. youll notice it if it flashes fast. it should be slow

Speed classes should be clearly marked on the face of the card with the word "Class" followed by the number inside the letter "C." Some cards might contain only the number inside the "C."
So already, thank you for your answers.
The class of my SD card is 6.
Now I have a new bug, I flashed the new ROM (odex) with a full wype, and when I installed DATA2SD, at boot (before the PIN code request) I have this error message :

So already, thank you for your answers.
The class of my SD card is 6.
Now I have a new bug, I flashed the new ROM (odex) with a full wype, and when I installed DATA2SD, at boot (before the PIN code request) I have this error message :
- "The application SkinScanner (process come.htc.skinscanner) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
- I then presses the only button available in "force close".

[Q] Sandvold ICS: wifi not working, reading/writing not not permitted, how to solve?

Logcat from when I try to enable WiFi:
E/WifiHW ( 215): Cannot set RW to "/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf": Operation not permitted
E/WifiHW ( 215): Wi-Fi will not be enabled
E/WifiStateMachine ( 215): Failed to start supplicant!
Note: Wifi _did_ work before! The last major thing that comes to mind is that i installed a2sd and moved apps and dalvik-cache to a 512MB ext3 partition on my freshly partitioned class 2, 4GB SD Card
Now when i try to switch WiFi the button greys out for a few seconds and then returns to "off" again without explanation of what went wrong.
Before i installed the ROM i did a full wipe except for battery stats, i have no clue if this could matter at all.
I have Stock HBoot still.
I really like this Release and WiFi is working for most ppl using it so I hope that this indicates that this issue is a solvable one.
I have nothing to add. I am happy to answer any question and/or to provide more logs/screens if needed.
I found a solution, the wpa_supplicant.conf was owned by root, so i made a backup and deleted the file.
This issue was apparently not caused by the ROM or any moving of the dalvik-cache, but rather a WiFi password restore tool "wireless password recovery" that apparently set a wrong owner to the file.
