[Q] PANDORA + NAVIGATION issue - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running stock froyo 2.2 and have only removed sprint bloat ware from the OS.
among those "sprint app updater"
before root, when using Gps voice navigation, it would usually pause Pandora which was already playing in the background, say the directions, then resume play of Pandora.
Now that I'm on 2.2 with root it pauses Pandora, says the instruction, then nothing. Pandora remains paused.
I've tried uninstalling maps + Pandora then reinstalling, but no fix.
also if I'm using trouble twist or the default music player, it will resume play after instruction is said, this issue is isolated to Pandora.
I could always just re-wipe and reinstall everything, but I was hoping on a logical explanation to why it was doing this.
also I am new to XDA and this is my first post. thanks for any replies.

Known issue with froyo, even without root.

This is also posted in the wrong forum. Questions go in the Q&A Forum.

Are you playing music through bluetooth?

I had this issue without Bluetooth, 2.1 would resume, 2.2 pauses Pandora after every navigational announcement. If you search around a bit you'll see this same complaint from non dev oriented threads/forums as well.

I my self started a thread about this just use that search button
Also tapatalk give us a search function in the Danny app

Have you tried an older version of maps, maybe the 4.40 update broke it.
no there has to be a file that i can edit that tells nav how to behave
It's happening to me, too, so it's not just you.
Some delve please help maybe look at stand see what the permissions were in 2.1

Try and see what happens with Sprint nav.
sent from my Evo running gingerbread
It's a known bug in 2.2
supposedly pandora is working on it
By the way Sprint bab works but it plays thru doesn't mute or pauses they talk over each other loved how Pandora would just pause and resume

Yep it's from the 2.2 update. Pandora needs to update.
I was directed here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9569 the other day when I brought up the same issue on a different thread. Looks like it kicked in at the 1.47 ota, prior to that, the audio would go right back to playing pandora or whatever after nav told you to take a left.

thanks for the confirm, that's exacly how I remember it also (I can't remember exactly when the last time I used nav was before I went to 2.2)
The reason I posted the link though, was to show that it looks like it's been noted as a bug on android code, so I don't know if this is tied directly to Pandora. I'm thinking it's more of a bug with the nav app instead. I'm no expert though.
FWIW, I'm running the OMJ 2.2, and if i'm running googleNAV and playing a song with the native media player, it will pause while gnav give a direction, but it also won't resume play once the directions are finished. That would lead me to believe that the problems is not isolated to pandora....
I just tried to day with last tm and it works as should so I'd say its Pandora code that broke

It hasn't been working for me on Pandora or the HTC music player...Such a small detail is going to cause me a traffic accident soon...I just know it.
+1, this happens to me with music player also, a big disappointment after having it work in 2.1 and setting up a proper car dock with audio.
Also, I noticed when playing a movie in rockplayer you don't hear the navigation, and even after changing to the navigation app I wouldn't hear sound until I closed rockplayer and reopened the nav app.

not yet, sadly. Waiting for a fix too.

How do I get navigation to play nicely with music on Froyo?

On 2.1 everything was just dandy. But after updating, everytime the raspy voiced Google Maps lady speaks, she pauses my music, but refuses to hit play again. 2.1 lady would resume the music no problem, on both the HTC player and Pandora. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm secretly hoping there is an option I haven't found yet...its a huge pain to swipe back in, navigate to the music, and hit play while driving.
Yeah this would be great I dont remember using it on 2.1 but do know that it worked on CM6 Froyo and now that I am trying some of the new 2.2 sense roms it is a very annoying problem.
hmm havent noticed, havent used gps and music at the same time, my car speakers broke and i already know i cant use gps and the phone speaker at the same time, will try to test this soon though, anyone have stock 2.2 they can test this on?
Pretty sure this is an issue with all 2.2's including CM6 and that is has to do with how froyo controls audio (it's listed on the official Android bug list). Confident a fix is in the works though, either from Google or the devs here.

i have had no problems with the music player starting back up after nav directions are given. pandora is borked tho. that's a pandora problem.

It seems to be an issue with a bunch of streaming media apps, not specific to Pandora.

Do you have a link to this list? I'm searching for it.
It should be made a sticky.
Yup, just tested it and it stops your music. Happened within 30 seconds of starting the navigation. I'm going to look for an old version of Google maps and see if that does anything, this update was pretty big.
Also, anyone have an N1 to test this on?
*EDIT* Using 4.3 does the same thing, was hoping it was a simple APK update needed, but we might need something more involved than that.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G.
Same issue with UK Desire since Froyo. Happens with both Copilot and Google Maps.
I read in a comment on the Android bug list that downgrading Pandora to v1.3 fixes the issue. Does anybody have an old titanium backup of Pandora 1.3?
I confirmed today that it happens with both Pandora and the regular music app on Fresh 3.2.
However, I recently was on a big roadtrip when using CM6 and it worked fine with the AOSP music player, but I didn't test Pandora.
Either way, it's extremely annoying. Missed a few turns because I just put nav on mute.

[Q] Pandora not auto-resuming

This happened after I upgraded to baked snack v1.4, as well as a new version of Pandora coming out, & google maps, so I'm not sure what caused it, but I'm hoping that someone may have a clue, or have it at least happened to other people so they know what I'm talking about.
Previously, when I had pandora playing, as well as google navigation, and navigation audio kicked in for directions, it would mute pandora, say it's peace, then pandora would resume playing.
Now, it just shuts pandora off, and after the directions are done, I have to go back to Pandora and click "play" again.
Is this a pandora issue, or another app issue?
Although I have not experienced this myself, I have seen this issue posted before. Did you do a search in the forums already?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've also noticed this myself, yesterday I went to the bach and was using pandora for music, same thing
known issue but last fm will work like this
Searched before posting, but did not see a fix, will search again when I get home.
Is it a problem with something else, or is it the Pandora app itself that is not working correctly?

[Q] Disabling Android's Music Player

So this is my situation...
When I was originally using fresh evo 3.2.0.0 I was using the HTC Music app. I have this earphones where every time I click the button on the headphones it'd Pause the music or pick up the call.
However, when I switched over to DamageControl's ROM w/ using Sense, I tried the android music player. I decided I didn't like it and I went back to Sense to use the HTC music app again. However, every so often it'd just randomly turn on the Android Music app, and it'd always turn on the android music app if i clicked the "pause/pick up call" button on my earphones. Anyway, I just decided to stop using it for a while.
Few days ago, I decided to go back to Fresh Evo rom (after full dalvic+cache/cache/and factory wipe) because of other preferences, and I also thought it'd help me with my music app problem. Same problem still persists. If I lock my screen with the HTC Music app it'll switch to the Android Music App instead, and same thing if i hit the pause/pick up call button on my earphones. Is there anyway for me to disable the android music app or fix this problem?
Also, sorry in advance if this is the wrong section. I just assumed that this was an app related question.
And of course, thanks in advance!

Music randomly playing out through speakers

Okay, so today I was listening to music, on my totally stock GS III. Suddenly the music switches through to the speaker, instead of going to my headphones. The first time this happen, it was when a song ended and a new song came on Google Music. The second time was when my friend texted me. My phone was on vibrate only. Obviously, this can be quite embarrassing especially when you are in a quiet zone. I checked to make sure the notification bar still had the headphone logo. I'm using regular no mic headphones. This happened earlier, is there anyway I can still logcat? Like doesn't it save all that until reboot? I don't even remember if I rebooted yet...probably..
Anyways, yeah, I tried searching, but I came up with threads on bluetooth and speakers just not working or crackling. So I think I might be the only one..?
Thanks for the help.
Only thing I can think of is maybe your headphone port is losing connectivity with your 3.5mm jack and it thinks no headphones are present?

1. background advertisements. Use adaware
2. poor installation/settings check google music and the app settings. worst comes to worst go to manage apps clear data, uninstall and re-install in market
It happened to me once or twice with google music player. Actually, since JB, google music is full of bug on my side, it randomly hangs on song switching, this bug, low volume bug until I pause and press play. Tried clearing cache/data, uninstalling couple of times, and no go.
I've given up on it and am now using rocket player with cloud music importer. I was never streaming anyway but I liked the google music interface... oh well
I'm on a stock based jellybean ROM rooted

Yes but the usual behavior is that when headphones are pulled out, it pauses the music.

I'm not sure what the advertisements have to do with the audio problem, but I do use ad blocker. I have tried flashing back to stick through kies and odin.

I think I might actually flash back to ics. I don't want to give up on google music streaming.

So I read around, looks like a couple of Jelly bean users are experiencing this, particularly with google music. This is of course stock Jelly bean for the s3

I have the same issue but I use rocket music player. But the worst issue I have is when I'm listening to music and someone calls me, after the call it puts full speaker volume out my headphones and blows my ears out. I would definitely be interested in a solution otherwise I will be going back to ICS myself; especially since I can't run Adobe Flash on web pages anymore.

I'll add to this I've had the same issues with my rooted stock JB from my google play player so I just switched players to power amp full version player and I could not be any happier!
Has happened to me twice in class. Was listening to a song in google music, song ended and the next one came on, except this time coming out of the speaker. Very embarrassing!

Recently read in a different forum that changing LPAplayer from true to false I think in the build.prop is a solution.... Can't remember where I read it, couldn't find it in history, probably was on my other machine...
Been looking into this more. Seems like more people are having this problem. Some suggest downgrading google music, some say the 11/12 update is bad, some say LPAplayer or something needs to be disabled, using default samsung player, which reminds me today I installed Pandora which happened to do the same thing so it must be touchwiz and it only happens on JB. Not trying to change my phone to CM10, thats a no for me. Has anyone found a real solution?
