So I was running 2.1 (1.47.651.1) and I just recently went to 2.2. On 2.1 I ran Baked Snack and did not have Apps2sd. Now that Im on 2.2 with my root and NAND unlocked, I want apps2sd (more than just going into settings>applications> manage applications).
What would I have to do to get true apps2sd enabled? Also, is there an issue now that Im 2.2? Will partitioning the sdcard affect any root or nand unlock
Im just so confused what can or cant be done and what needs to be done without messing anything up.
Hopefully this can help others with a similar question.
A2SD is, I believe, automatic on Froyo. Partitioning your SD card won't affect anything root wise. It will wipe your entire SD card though. So be sure to back up anything you don't want to lose.

Can anyone confirm this?
But in order to partition the sd card through ROM manager- wont that wipe the card?
Also off topic from this (just to keep from cluttering the forum)- What about upgrading RA recovery 1.7.0.1- is there something to upgrade to?
its not automatic as far as i know, but you can move applications to your as card through settings->applications (yadda yaddda)
its a bit of work to get a2sd working on roms that dont have it enabled, well its not HARD or anything, just go to the a2sd thread in the dev section. i dont know if it works on 2.2 roms, i dont think so. regardless the information you need is there. good luck
Just to clear up any confusion, apps to sd is supported on stock froyo but only for apps that support it.The only way I've found to know if a certain app supports it or not is to go into manage applications and go through them one by one.If the app supports it there will be the option move it to sd.

Hi
Can't find this answer through search so hope its not a dumb question
As I can't wait for orange to sort out Froyo and it looks like they have messed up big time which prob means it will be ages . I have started to look into rooting and debranding
As I understand it with Froyo when an app is installed or moved to sd only a portion is on the sd so internal memory will still be used and can fill up again
If I rooted and flashed a Rom with apps2sd is it the same or can it all be moved
I have also seen apps2sd + I think it was called
Really I suppose I wanted to know if Froyo is as good as the others
Thanks

Please search as the question have been asked over and over again. But here goes:
Neither of them can move the app data located in the data/data/ folder. This is probably for stability reasons, but you should be fine.
The froyo one only moves the app pretty much.
A2sd+ also moves dalvik cache.
The froyo method is much simpler if you are new to it. But here is a post where I explain the differences: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8324672#post8324672
So after much hesitation, i took the plunge yesterday and rooted my Telus Desire using unrevoked one click root method. Now, i don't really know where to go from here.
One of the things i want is the ability to move ALL my apps to the sd card. Ive had apps2sd on my phone since froyo was released on telus a few days ago but it doesnt seem to move all my apps and i still see myself running out of space often. Any solutions for this? Im still running the stock froyo from telus
Also, i was informed of the ROM manager app on the market and im just wondering before i buy: how successful have people been using that app? Would it work fine on a phone like mine and am i able to load any rom that i want or only certain ones which come with the app?
Thanks for the help

You don't have to buy rom manager there is a free version you can try, for all a2sd you will need a custom rom with a2sd+

One of my reasons for rooting was to get rid of certain apps, like HTC Peep, which i really don't like.
I rooted my phone and found that it doesn't really allow you to do all that much unless you S-OFF and then use a custom ROM.
I'm using LeeDroid 2.2e with a 512mb ext partition on my memory card. As i understand this tricks the phone into thinking the ext partition is actually internal phone storage, curing the problem of very little internal memory overnight. I tried to fill it up but couldn't!
To do this you'll need to S-OFF first (see thread in development) and then install a custom ROM of your choice (I'm assuming you've already got a nandroid backup). I'd suggest playing with a few initially to see which you like. All the instructions for flashing are on the individual ROM pages. If you use Titanium backup you can save all of your current apps and system settings, but i prefer to start over with a clean slate each time (takes me 5 mins to replace system settings and use AppBrain for my apps)
Once you've got a nandroid you can pretty much safely mess around with most things, if anything goes wrong just restore.
Oh, bear in mind that to get an a2sd+ partition you will need to back up all the data on your SD (to PC) as it will be wiped. ROM manager is the easiest way to then reformat it, i used a 512 ext partition with a 0mb swap.
Have fun
Most stock apps and widgets can be removed from the rom zip before flashing, so you don't need s-off for that.

I hope someone can help. I have been using TITANIUM BACKUP PRO on my EVO with the MOVE APP TO SD for apps that FROYO 2.2 doesnt automatically detect it can move to SD. It has been working fine.... UNTIL this past week when I would try to move an APP to SD and it says it is moving it but nothing happens and it doesnt move (it still shows I can move it to SD in TB PRO). Any app designed for moving to SD with APP2SD FROYO works fine. Can anyone tell me what I can do to get this feature back working? I am using SPRINT LOVERS ROM and one of the ne battery life KERNELS.. I thought it might be the kernel I flashed so I flashed back the stock kernel. SAME ISSUE. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling TB PRO but still same issue.
I did post this on the forum for TB PRO support and was told it was sent to the developer but I have heard nothing and really need to get this fixed.
Any help would be appreciated....
What I recently did was installed Dark tremors a2sd on my phone. It actually moves all your apps to sd and frees up so much memory. It's frickin awesome. First you have to find out if it will work with your rom, ther is a list of roms that works with on the DT page which I wil post. I put it on my wifes phone which had Ava and it didnt work. I then put her on Myn's Warm rom, which I think everyone should be on anyway. If you want to switch roms and dont want to worry bout reinstalling all your apps, use Titanium Backup and do a batch bacup through the menu. Backup all user apps and system info. Then in the new rom you can go back into TB and do a restore and it will reinstall all your info. Second you have to partition your sd card if you haven't already. To do so you must first create a backup of your sd to your computer as prtitioning will wipe the sd. Also I only now how to partition the sd using Amon RA recovery, it's much easier than using clockwork. Partition up to ext3.
To find Dak Tremors flashable zip go here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715938&highlight=apps2sd
I'll tell you what, if you cant figure out the rest, PM me and I will walk you through it. Good luck and sorry for the book, I tend to get carried away. LOL

Well yes, the sd needs to be partitioned. A plus is that all your apps go to the sd leaving much more valuble space in your phones memory and it also automaticaly moves them. No need to move manually anymore.
Also when you partition it only partitions around 500mb, you still have plenty of card. I looked and your rom doesnt support it but I would recommend moving to Myn's Warm anyways. It's much faster and smoother and so worth it. It allows you to use programs such as DT. If you want help with it or have more questions send me a personal message. Just put your cursor over my name and click. Then find where to send me a personal message. Just to avoid cluttering the thread.

I like sprint lovers rom.. Its a sense rom and EVERYTHING works nice and fast .. INCLUDING 4G.. with the new KERNEL I am running I am getting great battery life. I just want to get TB working.. I read somewhere that there might be another APP for forcing apps to SD like TB does. Does anyone know what that is?

Myn is sense and everything works as well. I actually use Calkulin's newest kernel that gives me 2+ days on my seidio 3500 overclocked to 1152000! Either way, I hope you get things working for you and feel free to hit me up if you need. I'm Out!!!

Sprint lovers if just the stock rom rooted. Myn's is a custom rom with built in themes, mods, añd tweaks. You can use things such as Dark Tremors and more. It gives you the ability to expand your herizons. You could always do a nand backup and then wipe and try the rom out. If you dont Like it you can restore your backup. The keyboard is a little different as far as looks but I actually use a different theme which is really cool. I dont know if it works with sprint lovers. Its called Riptide's colorNclear- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727117
Also, I dont know if you got tether to work but it's included in Myn. Myn is also working on his newest update which implements the new system updates and is supposed to be rockin.
If you want the most out of your evo then try it out. If you're fine with what you got, that's cool to. It's all up to you.
hello all. i just recenlt bricked my galaxy s telus fascinate and got a desire replacement. i managed to get the root working without a issue (was superscared because of previous brick). now im looking for a rom. a good rom. coming from touch wiz, sense is mint. i love it.
so i want something that like stock sense with sense widgets without all the bloat and hopefully a proper app2sd (the stock app2sd is only moving like 1/3 of the data to sd and 2/3 is stayin in internal storage) . i heard desire hd roms r good but i dont really see the upside cause i dont know much about the phone yet just the OS. im runnin froyo 2.2 with hboot 93.0001.
any info would b mint. thx in advance
ps. only 1 day in, and the desire is running laps around the fascinate in every aspect except afew hardware issues like
-no internal sd card
-psx4droid is alot slower but i do own a hacked psp so no biggy
-and the app2sd sucks considering i went from 2 gigs internal storage to 133 mbs
but interface rocks. awaiting some opinions
You may want to take a gander at this thread: http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/231930-desire-index-everything-desire-here.html
It has links to all the usual suspects when it comes to the different ROMs available, and once you get familiar with the ones that are out there you can do more detailed searches to see which one you may like the most. After that just download and get to flashing. As long as you nandroid backup before flashing anything you can always go back.

LeeDroid 2.3d - superfast sense based 2.2 rom, with the stuff you need.
Baadnwz 1.8c- i'm using it now, a great HD port, but not as fast as the LD.

what about kernels? i had a overclocked voodoo kernel on my sgs and it ran games and emulators amazingly. ff9 on ps4drioid was running like 95% speed. any speed kernels or voodoo kernels available? and allso i hear the best way to manage storage is data and app2sd +. how do i go about installing that? b4 or after i flash the rom?
1. The Desire has an Adreno GPU, not a PowerVR SGX - so the graphics performance will be MUCH more slower, than the GS'. Also I use this kernel, gives me the best performance.
2. Most custom ROMs have that feature preinstalled (so installs automatically, when flashing the ROM), just make sure you have partitioned your SD Card (fat32+ext 2/3/4).

how do i go about partitioning the sd card? lm fat with a fresshreformat from my pc. now im quite sure ext/4 is the safest and most stable partition to use and 2 being the worst. on sgs, voodoo did the ext/4 for me and didnt have to do the work. so im confused on this part since ive seen nothing with a voodoo tag on it since i joined. and voodoo had to be deactivated everytime u flashed new software. does that still apply here>?
Use Gparted or easus partition for that.
Create a FAT32 partition first and then an ext4 partition (both primary).
You have to look for a2sd+ here in the ROMs description to make it work (LeeDroid definiately works). Make sure you have partitioned the SD card then just flash the ROM (of course nandroid backup first & full wipe) and it will go, you have to do nothing. It is an auto-script.

SoHi I'm a G2 user but my cousin is having some issues with her epic. The issue is about her storage space, as we all know the samsung epic only has half a GB available for internal storage. So she wants to move the apps to her sd card, however 2.1 doesn't supports it and I would love to know an apk app to sd card if there is one. I'm really tire of googling and searching for it, can anyone please let me know of the apk if there is or links to it?

Download this
rename it update.zip
put it on her sdcard
reboot into recovery with volume down + camera + power
apply update.zip
disk cache
While running bonsai 2.0+ my sd card has been getting cluttered by disk cache index.tmp files. Are these important? Id like to delete them .

does apps2sd work on the Froyo leak? I thought we were waiting for the official Froyo release for that feature. the only time i've been able to use apps2sd is on Baked Snack 1.6, which made it very easy to do.
Froyo just has it as an option baked in. AFAIK apps2sd is something completely different.

It's the same thing
Android 2.2 App Storage vs. Apps2SD
Though so many people have started to call the "concept" apps2sd rather than the actual mod that the 2 are often confused, so I suppose it depends on what the person meant.
Ah, I understand now
In any case, does the dk28 leak allow the option to store to sd card? I thought not, but maybe I just never saw it. (Currently using a2sd in Baked Snack 1.6).
