[Q] help updating to froyo from wwe rom - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
recently had trouble updating my european unrooted unbranded desire to 2.2, ph got stuck in a boot cycle, only way i could fix it was to flash the ruu wwe 1.21. but now obviously the ota update wont show on phone. My question is will there be a ota update for this version? Or do i/can i flash to europe ruu to get update, without gold card as my phone is unbranded? or will there likely be a froyo ruu sometime soon?
thx

Hi! Have the same problem! Unbranded my Desire with a Gold card to flash official WWE. Then got the OTA 2.2 via mobile internet. Phone stuck in a boot process (endless reboots). I flashed back to WWE 1.21.405.2_T2 now getting no notifications about possible updates. Is there any way to install official 2.2? Please Help!

Install a rooted 2.2...
There are plenty to choose from, some are official just rooted.

Does that mean I have to root my phone or cab I just download rooted Rom and install it

Problem solved!
I copied update image of froyo 2.2 to my "Goldcard" and flashed from it successfully!

Which ROM?

I'm a UK Desire user on o2. My phone is branded with a splash screen upon start-up.I want to Froyo update but o2 suck and haven't released it yet.
I'm considering de-branding my phone using the GoldCard method and installing a non o2 ROM so I can get the Froyo update. Problem is I don't know which ROM to go for. I don't want to choose the wrong one and end up with no signal or something.
Also once I flash to an unbranded ROM, will I get the froyo update OTA or will I have to do this manually?
Cheers,
Ed.
Try installing one of the WWE ones from here.
You should then get the OTA update (I think).

[Q] Asian Desire - WTF? :S

So, I bought my unlocked and unbranded Desire from India. It has Android 2.1 and I want to install 2.2 on it.
1. Can I directly use RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.4 3.00 . 32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe on my cell regardless of the version of 2.1 it's running?
2. Or should I install the RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe Generic Worldwide 2.1 ROM before and wait for the 2.2 update to show up OTA?
3. Will I need a goldcard? And again, All these ROMs will be compatible with my Asian Desire, right? Or will I brick it?
Please help me out, I want to give it a try.
Hi.
To install wwe rom u need the goldcard. U dont need to root it. I had first created the goldcard. Then installed the wwe rom. And then install OTA for froyo.
Just keep one thing in mind. When u update to froyo ota do do keep your goldcard only in the fone or else it wont install and os gets corrupted. Desire will keep on rebooting

[Q] Official Froyo 2.2 Download link (ROM)

Hello all,
I am looking for the link where I can download the official release of Froyo 2.2 for the HTC Desire. I have searched everywhere but I just couldn't find anything official.
Could anyone please help me?
Thanks!
Do you want the RUU or an OTA update?
Thanks for your reply.
I'm very new to all these terms. I just need the latest ROM so I could install it on my phone. I installed a customised ROM by a developer but now I'm very hesitant to use it due to probable spyware/malware that might have been preinstalled.
Any ideas?
Basically the zip file where I can save it to my flash disk and perform a manual system upgrade. Is this called RUU?
Is your phone branded with carrier logos or software? Or is it an unbranded phone?
Hi, it's an unbranded HTC desire, rooted, unlocked. The current firmware is LeeDroid.
Thanks

[Q] Will i still get my OTA

Hi guys,
I got a Desire HD from Vodafone australia, currently voda is rolling out the Gingerbread update.
When I first got my phone I rooted s-off'd and all that and loaded cyanogenmod.
All in all it started having issues so I installed an RUU of the 1.72.405.3 generic. Originally it had 1.32 voda branded rom on it. Now everytime I go to check for updates there doesn't seem to be any.
All my friends desire hds have got the update but mine. So I am wondering if anyone else with the 1.72 from has received the update and or if I will get it due to not using the original rom.
try installing the original voda RUU. then update
Why don't you update to 2.3 with an ruu file, the file has been out there for a while. (not on the PC or I would provide you a link)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

If your phone is running a stock 1.72 rom then i'd say yes you'll get the OTA update, but since you've got S-OFF i'm not 100% sure.
I'd suggest you just use the Gingerbread RUU in the development section
I'm having the same problem. Vodafone Australia phone. But used gold card to put unbranded 1.32.405.6 on. I haven't been able to get the OTA update to apply, just says I'm already up to date.
Edit: I tried booting up the phone with the SD card I used as my gold card. Didn't work either.

RUU ROMs?

ive got a rooted branded(vodafone UK) desire
is it possible for me to flash with the lastest nonbranded RUU ROM which would be 2.3 when it gets uploaded or is does it have to be a more complexed way to debrand it?
Goldcard will be needed most likely.
Why don't you just flash the RUU for your phone and get the OTA update from vodafone
vodafone will take to long to release the update. they like to change it then release it to their customers....
there's no difference anyway, still the same android and HBOOT etc.. and still the old sense, using the vodafone RUU is just easier.
