[Q] HTC Desire & Qualcomm QXDM software - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I really need to know if anyone has QXDM running successfully with their HTC Desire.
Apparently there is a file called qxdmlog.apk - It isn't in my rom - is it required & can someone share this please?
I work in Wireless Engineering and I'd really like to do some tests with my new Desire.
Cheers.

I've seen QXDM running on early roms....1.15.x.x and it seemed to work ok. at least, i assume it was QXDM, that was certainly the name of the files that it output anyway.
I've not seen it on any later 2.1 or 2.2 roms yet though.

on my phone now anyone know whats new?
Edit: I can't find anything on their site, both HTC & HTC America...
Edit3: ImCokeMan released a Unlocker that will now allow non-alltel users to use this rom. You can grab the unlocker here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
The Rom was relased today.

oo...
Why update the ROM on your device?
The software upgrade posted below provides several key enhancements for your HTC Touch:
Adds EVDO Rev. A capability for faster download and upload speeds*
Improves Bluetooth performance, fixing connectivity issues with some headsets and other devices.
Adds ability to receive video messages.
* Note: EV-DO Rev. A is network dependent and may not be available in all areas.

Wrong ROM For The Touch On The HTC Website
Hello, did this work for anyone? When I attempted the upgrade it was actually for the PPC 6800 not the Touch. I think that they just listed the wrong file as when you attempt to run the file it reports an error that states this upgrader will not update my phone model and the 1st page of the upgrade does show the Alltel PPC 6800. Thanks in advance for your reponse.
The link that I posted is for the Alltel Touch - I have one, I installed the ROM, and it works. In that same folder on that server there is the ROM update for the 6800 for Alltel as well.
Error I receive
I downloaded the one you listed and executed it see the attached error that I receive. I have updated ROMs before so I am not a newbie and I do have the Alltel Touch. So maybe my error is unique but this ROM will not work for the Touch that I have so I will have to check with Alltel tommorrow. I also downloaded the file from HTC website at the location below before I checked here @ XDA and I received the same error.

difference between htc & utstarcom
So why the size difference between the rom posted on the htc site and the rom posted as the official rom on the utstarcom website?
here's the link -
http://www.utstar.com/pcd/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=87&cid=16&mid=285&carrier=Bell%20Mobility
the one on the htc site is 68.5mb. the one on the utstarcom site is 62.0mb.

The utstarcom link is for a Bell Mobility rom, while the HTC link is for Alltel. The Bell rom does not have Rev.A or gps and would probably explain the difference in file sizes.

Any comment on if GPS works?
Anyone with a non-Alltel touch tried this?
Edit:
This was posted by GnatGoSplat on PPCGeeks:
I doubt GPS is enabled in this ROM.
The Alltel ROM for PPC6800 Titan is NOT GPS enabled. However, the SPL and radio are "GPS-ready".
All that was needed to enable GPS in the Alltel ROM was to add these 3 files from the Sprint GPS ROM:
* GpsDaemonService.Dll
* gpsid_qct.dll
* qccmquery.dll
So if the ROM isn't GPS enabled, but the radio is GPS-ready, adding those 3 files should do the trick to enable GPS.
/end quote
So for those Alltel users trying to get GPS working, try adding those files (don't know where you get them, maybe the Titan GPS-ROM?) and see if that lets you get a GPS signal.

Let's say, someone just replaced his phone :-(
Don't try this on Sprint 6900
As of yet, no GPS for me. Also, if you are having trouble getting the ROM from HTC via that link, please feel free to PM me and I will try to find a way to get it to you. If anyone has somewhere they could host it that would be appreciated.
I am looking for the 3 files mentioned above to see if they will help [I am going to try to pull them from my friend's Tilt].
According to HTC, the radio update is supposed to turn on GPS, and the guy even laughed at me, saying that I must not be doing it correctly, as it should work fine. Of course, when the call was first answered, the guy said he didn't even know that there was an update out for the Touch.
Here's to the hope of one day having a working phone!
Good Morning Touch Crew
Yes if you could send me the ROM that works for the Alltell Touch I would trully appreciate it as I have tried again to use the one posted here and the one on HTC and both have given me the same error. My email address is [email protected] Thanks to everyone for your responses. Everyone have a wonderfully blessed day
found two of the files posted on ppcgeeks but not the third. Anyone know of qccmquery.dll? I loaded the two i have in and still nothing, course I might not be doing it correctly. Anyone have ideas?

I haven't found qccmquery.dll yet either. I found it in the titan kitchen, but it's not in the .dll form...
qccmquery.dll from my Mogul is attached.
Are you sure this is related to GPS though? I searched the registry for GPS related dlls and I never saw anything linked to this one. It was just a quick search though, not very thorough. Anyway, here is the file if it helps.
Ok, I will have an FTP link for the Alltel ROM from HTC that I loaded into my touch tonight.
So where do I put the dlls? Do I place them in a modded rom, then install? Or can I just put them into my ppc after I updated?
Verstandnis: Are you modding a rom with the gps added?

Odd that it extracts to 0 bytes. Seems useless. Wonder if it's a placeholder to a real DLL.

US Cellular Roms?

Does anyone know of any custom roms for US Cellular?
I have not seen any on here, at ppcgeeks.com, or ppchaven.com.
One of the other two site may be able to help you as they are more geared towards CDMA devices.
You are in luck!
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=53675
you should be able to flash a custom rom that is not particular to US cellular.
For instance, I'm on sprint, I have a bell radio and a custom bell rom, running no problem.
noob - so noob that I just popped out 3 weeks ago. How exactly (as in step by step) do I flash a rom. I have been looking and searching and googling but to no avail of instructions.
I have seen I need to unlock my phone (codes like ##3242# do not work on my USCC HTC Touch (which shows as a vogu100 on the system screen) and QPST does not even see my phone - but I do not know how to use that either.
I saw that I should use Coke 2.3 (or something like that) from ImCokeman on PPCGeeks (probably here too.
Again where do I get step-by step (in a how-to for complete imbiciles). Could anyone help me here?
All I realy want to do is turn on my GPS and possibly the wifi as my users manual says it has it and there should be a button for it in comm manager but it is also missing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What ROM & Radio do you currently have? I asume that since you posted on this thread that you are on US Cell?
UNLOCKING
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
You will have to use WINRAR to extract the files to a folder. Connect your phone to your computer with activesync (xp) or WMDC (Vista) to establish a connection. You just need to run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe & follow the instruction.
FLASHING
Once you have unlocked you phone download what ever ROM you want & extract the files to a folder using winrar. Establish a connecrtion & run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Then follow the instructions.
You can also flash from the bootloader screan power+camera+reset. If flashing a stock ROM then copy the VOGUIMG.nbh onto your micro sd card. Tehn enter the bootloader screen power+camera+reset. You ROM should start flashing automatically. If you want to us a custom ROM you will follow the same process but you will have to remname the nbh file. It will be named RUU_Signed.nbh & you will need to rename it to VOGUIMG.nbh after copying it to you micro sd card.
Look at this page.

Carrier is US Cellular (nice instructions -- for verizon - can't chance a se of instructions that brick my phone)
System info shows:
ROM version: 3.01.573.4
ROM date: 10/10/08
Radio Version: 3.42.3
Protocol Version: DCAAXAM-4350H
Hardware version: 0001
PRL Version: 15068
PRI version: 1.32.027
Browser Version: MSIE 6.0
Bootloader shows:
Vogu100
SPL-2.01.0000
cpld-3
I have come across the unlocking thread 13 different times but it is not specific to USCC it even says it. This is for a CDMA device, the HTC vogue aka SPRINT touch (not elf) - if it bricks my phone I am s.o.l. as they rund $500+ retail and I aint got it lying around.
Oh well - maybe I am just paranoid but I need my phone and can't take a chance that my phone becomes a paperweight just for one added feature especially when it does have an option for external GPS and those I can get for 30-50 dollars.
I wish I had more confidence in myself but well...
Thank You.
Update: Unlocked and flashed the ROM in this tread for USCC and still my GPS don't work -- this is the one thing I wanted. No help
Dette makes a really nice fully loaded ROM, fast and smooth, not really my taste mainly because I like to keep all my apps up to date and when they're cooked in you cant. I like a nice clean ROM that I can customize myself, But Dettes is awsome if you just wanna "flash and go", plus your pretty limited on your choices because of your carrier

This is for Diamond I have Vogue I did the one that was posted at the beginning of this post and although not bricked major changes made that I do not like.
I now have to see if I can find the original USCC stock ROM only thing I need is the GPS - the rom changed my contact, can not change default area code, plays music when not told to, etc.
that's what I get for trying.
No this is for the Vogue, its just the Diamond edition. I flashed it this morming to my Alltel touch. I assume its called that cause its got the M2D which makes it look like the Diamonds TF3D. Trust me

Hi all,
I've been trying to convince NFSFAN to make a US cellular version of his awesome ROM. He said he would do it if there were at least three users interested. So far I just have myself and johnficca interested. Please go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487 to view the ROM and ask NFSFAN to make a US Cellular version.
P.S. Please be polite, respectful and grateful in your posts. NFSFAN is busy and does a lot for this and other communities.
I don't understand - I have a US Cellular HTC Touch Pro2 and the GPS and WiFi are both working fine right out of the box. My guess is that you either have them turned off (although I don't remember seeing an option to turn the GPS off), or you have faulty hardware.

You are answering in the wrong forum. You have a TP2 and this section is for the HTC Touch (aka Vogue).

PSFreedom from n900 over to EVO possible?

alright so, im sure many of you have heard that PSGroove was released into the wild. recently a dev ported it over to the nokia n900. he has since released his source code ( http://github.com/kakaroto/PSFreedom). i was wondering if it would be possible to port this over to android/the EVO?
also, to enable backup manager to work, in the psfreedom_devices.h file, lines 181 & 182 contain four 0x78 in a row. they need to be changed to 0x62, 0x64, 0x76, 0x64,
i really hope someone can help out and get this working
Well, Kakaroto and DrMon successfully have PSFreedom working on the MSM72K USB chipset which includes the Evo. Anyone want to try and compile a kernel and give it a whirl?
http://github.com/kakaroto/PSFreedom/tree/msm72k
This WILL disable USB usage for ADB, etc, so fastboot is probably a good option
I would LOVE to see this as well!!!!

RadioComm v11.11.11

RadioComm support tool, used for Motorola Handsets.

This is the latest edition i have found so far,

Guide on how to actually use Radiocomm 11.11.11?
I've only seen screen shots for it but it has a lot of options and looks like a really complex program. All I need it for is to simply flash SPRecovery.spf on my phone when I root it. So could anyone link me to a Radiocomm flashing guide or at least tell me what I need and what to do and if I need to do it before or after rooting? Thanks and I've rooted a lot but never changed recoveries, all the one click root apps give me recoveries that I hate such as RA-eris V1.6.2 because they are a pain. I'm manually rooting my Eris [I've already done manual rooting before] and just choose my own recovery and SPRecovery has gotten a lot more kudos than RA-eris v1.6.2 [Amona Ra?] and ClockworkMod. If anyoen also knows of any other recovieres they like better than please let me know, but for now just a good how to guide for flashing with Radiocomm. Thanks a lot in advance guys! =]
Hi There,
I apologize for not having any links off hand, (though i may be able to update int he future).
I know i have ran across a few guides for radiocomm on the internet... Try using Google.com, and keep an eye out for .pdf files..
I am sure you can tinker around in the menu's also... It is a very robust program...
And, just curious... Did you mean to say .SBF file? instead of .spf?
Good Luck
Here You Go,
I found an older manual for Radiocomm... Idk where i found it, or how helpful it may be... but it's a step in understanding...
Good Luck
yep this tool is interresting...
Here is version 11.12.2
Thanks for posting these files but I can't get them to work. They will not find any of my phones. I have the motorola drivers installed and my puter finds the phone but the radiocomm program won't connect, it stays red. I am running windows 7 with motorola 5.5 drivers, net framework 4 is installed. I tried it in compatability mode, the phones are set to pc mode. my phones are a droid 2 global, and two are a bionic. Can someone please help me out?? Thanks!

The low level tools are written for use with WinXP or lower.
Use with a newer Windows in XP-Mode at your own risk.
That's why to keep an old XP machine (or Win2K) on hand.

Well technically the most important thing with these kind of programs is the bits. Most of them are written for 32bit OS.
I'm using win8 32bit and all of my tools work fine. Just used Radiocomm today and yesterday to read some info from some older motorolas.
Granted not *everything* will work. I had to use Blackberry Desktop Manager 6.0 or newer to get it work right.
5.0.1 or older would BSOD on me when I tried to do too much with the RIM Virtual Serial Port.
How to use this program to enable the FM radio on my Motorola phone? Someone claims to have done this using this program but he's not responding to requests for more information. I've installed the program but don't want to brick my phone. In the past I've messed with other programs like QPST and QXDM to enable additional bands so I'm not an entire newbie. Thank you.
Here is a link for using radio comm on droid,https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr

[XAP] HTC Testing Suite (Modified to bypass encrypt.txt)

Well while searching for some xap files to install on my HD2 WinPhone, I found the TestSuite.xap at test.thaiyuthcenter.com , and upon opening that I found its a testing utility for HTC WinPhone devices.
The utility consists of number of testing programs for HTC Devices,
I have recoded the main loader to bypass the filesystem check for encrypt.txt and also isHTCDevice() calls.
If anybody can think of something really good out of it, then it would be nice, as my small brain is blank nowadays without any ideas.
Tests available in this tool
"MobileRecorder",
"HTCGPSTool",
"TouchScreenTest",
"DisplayTest",
"PerformanceTest",
"AutoMTMOCall",
"NetworkTest",
"MemoryAllocater",
"WPFileServer",
"StorageAllocater",
"SQAFileExplorer",
"SMSSender"
Oh! That my Server,, 555+
Please Note this is not the same HTC Engineering Tools, but different than that, and as per the Reflector findings, most of guid's are hardcoded in the main dll's and hence some tools dont show any results (e.g NetworkTest,WPFileServer).
this TestSuite.xap from 4.06 Test rom ,, with test rom this app run fine. but not work with any other rom.
Can u share that test rom please,I dont know what I'm doing but want to do something
you can get it here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LBV8RSJQ
it's 4.03 hd7 test rom.
