Hey all,
I would like to ask for all:
Did you think, that is ok, when we have a lot roms, moded by different users?
I believe, that is difficult to decide , which of the roms is better for your HTC Desire. So, I want to ask for all, how we can to decide, which rom is better.
Can you write the opinion, what rom you are use? Maybe moderators can to do a brief with public opinion poll in diffrent post?
Let I will be a first for this:
HTC Desire, DeVilain 1.0, Android 2.2, radio I think is not important, that is no ROM
DeVillain 1.0

I agree with u. And i believe most of the ROMS are copying each other.
I am Excluding great teams (AdamG, Cyannogen, Modaco, Villain etc.)
Most of the ROMs (i have tried till today) are the same with different name.
I expect that some will stop creating copies of another ROMs. I believe if they help Current teams to improve their ROMs, users will be the winners.
There is an Poll about ROMs on a post. But! no comments. (about the results)
again question for admins too

today I install to may desire next sense 5.2 froyo. Yesterday - leedroid. I can constated: the same ****, on another hand. So anybody can tem me or, ok, not for me for user - which rom is better? Here you can find up 100 rom, and anyone, who present this rom talking - this is best. I dont think , and for may opinion one of stable was and is DeVilain 1.0 rom. Who can discuss about this? Because a lot of expert without opinion here in the forum I see.
Neophyte 1.6 or NextSense 5.2 are the two best on here imo.
Both are stable, fast and have all the fixes applied to have an enjoyable Sense 2.2 Froyo experience.
Check them out

Just try. One Rom after another. If it fits your needs, stay at the ROM you use...
I use leedroid gives me better battery then neo only two I tried since I just got my desire. Best advice is to try some and which fit it needs the most

After rooting my HTC Desire i thought i had done the hard bit.
After reading the mountains of info; about Roms I dont know if I am any wiser, confused maybe. As a Newby to this i have a great deal to learn, I am after some guidance with peoples reccomendations as to which ROM is best for me.
I think i want -Stability, more than anything as Much as the latest Android updates, thanks for any suggestions
If stability is priority fo you and you want bug-free ROMs, I'd reccomend to try Froyo ROMs. Gingerbread ROMs are stable, as well, but bugs occur in them - not big ones, but still.
And for the ROMs - Insertcoin HD/ RCMixHD / LeeDroid/ Starburst - take your pick, all good

CyanogenMod. I still run their RC3 and considering I've never had any issues large enough to complain about, I never bothered to upgrade to their current release
Thanks for the Quick reply, will take on board
Thanks for the quick reply, reads well
Honestly though, if you look at the desire forum, it gives you a good idea which ROMs have the most amount of issues. Although a lot are caused by noob errors
GB: InsertCoin / RCMix
Froyo: Leedroid
In the last few days I have tried all the major gb roms(rcm, insertcoin, reflex etc), all of them have been stable but not fast enough. I think that may be due to the fact that there is currently no stock rom for desire gb. I would recommend leedroid 2.4.1. Its very fast and stable. I will switched to a gb rom once the official software has been released.
Hi guys!
Can you please recommend a good Sense ROM for HTC Desire? I tried a couple of Sense 3.5 ROMs, they seemed kinda incomplete, slow unstable. Tried a couple of Sense 3.0 ROMs, those were better but had different bugs. Tried a couple Sense 2.1+3.0 hybrid ROMs, same story. It also seems that some devs don't bother updating their XDA threads and the ROMs listed here are not up to date.
I would appreciate if you could suggest a stable Sense 3.0+ ROM that is actively maintained, updated, etc. I hope there is one
Thanks in advance!
I`m using InsertCoin Sense 2.1 A2SD+ 1.1.4 without any lags, bugs and other problems...
Even better you can try InsertCoin 2.3 Stock with gingerbread.
I've been using it from the beginning and it's ok. No bugs until now.
I had used InstertCoin before I switched to Cool3D AceS v3. Now I'm still at Cool3D rom. With the Rosie Smoothness mod it has no bugs and runs as fast as stock rom.

I tried v4: it was extremely slow, had problems with superuser and random FCs. This probably had something to do with not working A2SD, but I decided not to continue with that ROM and thus didn't even try to fix it. Btw, it's made by one of those devs who don't even bother updating their own threads with at least the ROM version number...
Seriously, another one? Come on guys....

I've had pretty much the same experiences as you with sense 3.5/3.0/2.1+3.0 hybrid ROMs and as much as that is what I want to be using, there's just always something about every ROM that stops me from keeping it on my phone.
Even though it's an older version of sense, I keep finding myself going back to Tabasco's Silky ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1210178) for sheer stability, functionality and speed. It also still looks pretty damn nice!
I'd definitely recommend you try it until newer sense ROMs are improved

Have been using rcmix 2.1 since June n its flawless...just because there are no updates for rcmix Rom,I'm looking elsewhere too ...just to know what's new n if I'm missing something
I'm currently using IC 1.1.4 with 110926 snq- kernel. Fast, stable and battery life is good. But i think i'll try RevolutioN 1.7 soon.
I just bought the SGS2, and my girlfriend is getting my old HTC Desire.
She tried it for a week, with Oxygen ROM and while generally happy with it, she was underwhelmed and annoyed with a few of the more obvious warts of stock android 2.3. The crappy dialer and the crappy keyboard, to name a few.
I then installed a lot of GO apps on it, GO Launcher EX, GO Dialer, GO Widget etc.
While these are in some respects better, they have other issues.
I am now considering if a ROM with Sense would be a good compromise for her. I will not give her the latest stock 2.2 ROM from HTC, I want her to have 2.3. So it would have to be a 2.3 ROM with Sense on it. And I don't even know which version of Sense. I have only really worked with the one in the stock 2.2 ROM from HTC. I think it is Sense 1.9?
So, can you guys recommend a 2.3 ROM with Sense or a 2.3 ROM and some good core apps (dialer, keyboard, sms/texting etc.) that is girlfriend-friendly?
Thanks in advance
I'd recommend one with the Sense 3.0.

why you pointing to external link when we have a development section full of nice a great ROMs?
I would recommend a ROM with Sense 2.1/3.0 (Hybrid) because the Sense 3.5/3.0 ROMs are a bit too much sometimes for the Desire as I read and heard (in case of lags and so).
But Runnymede is recommended very often.
So I would go with Revolution or InsertCoin which I self am using since a few months and i'm quite happy with it.

And I really dont get the point why you always have to bash the other Roms except Supernova's. Supernovas Rom sure is great but there also other good ROMs (even with Sense 3.0/3.5). They are maybe that not stable and so on but the Users also have different preferences. For some eye-candy is the most important feature, for other it is stability and speed.

Not that I don't bash just supernova, I don't bash either of the Sense 1.9 roms, aosp roms, or even roms which are broken and are advertised as such.
And I have no beef with roms or their developers, but with idiots that turn every rom recommendation thread into this. OK, you're free to do whatever you want, but you can't come and write "Sense 3.5/ICS , this, this, this and this doesn't work, but it's perfect".
As far as I'm concerned, the scale goes like this: unusable - bad - average - good - perfect. I hope meaning of perfect is self explanatory?
If the op states that he is giving away his phone, Sense 3.5 roms don't have nothing to look for here. Giving away phone with some of it's features severely limited is insanity.
It is you Sense 3.5 users who mixed up priorities here, not I. If the thread was titled "most eyecandy" rom I'd be silent.

I wasn't giving the OP a recommendation for a Sense 3.0/3.5-ROM, I was recommending him a Hybrid (2.1/3.0). And this I can do with pure conscience because the ROM I'm using right now (InsertCoin) is way faster than the Stock-ROM that was originally on the Desire and i havent experienced anything thats not working yet (no reboots, no failures, ... everything is working fine).
Yeah, maybe the Sense-ROMs you are not bashing are a bit faster than the ISC and Revolution Hybrids but there you have an uglier ui, so you have to balance.
Maybe you should testing a Hybrid for yourself because now you are just assuming things.

I want her to have 2.3, and there is no good official 2.3 ROM from HTC. So I guess I might as well try a girlfriend-friendly 2.3 ROM, preferably one that "just works" and that I don't have to help her with a million times. If you can recommend such a ROM, it would be great.
I agree with you that eye candy is not the most important thing here. Usability and stability is. Unfortunately, stock android have usability issues with simple things such as the dialer and the keyboard. And Android 2.3 is a must.
I will never buy her an iPhone, so that's not an option.
What do you recommend?

After that I just scroll real fast through the thread. No Stock rom recommendations? Check. Commence bashing.

Like saadislam already said: not easy to say - depends on too many different factors to give a straight answer. I'm very satisfied with LeWa regarding performance & battery but the latest port (based on Cyanogenmod 7.2 stable) is really fresh - there might still be some bugs. If you want something really stable to flash straight away with no hassle CM7 would be a good choice, too. It can easily be trimmed to remain battery-friendly.
From the performance side I'd definitely recommend to think about custom mtd partitions as the available memory of our little old Buzz is a true show stopper for space and performance (link in my sig).

You shouldn't ask which is the best ROM, because that could offend devs.
After all, they've all put loads of hard work into making great ROMs for you.
If you want to try ICS, CM9 is for you.
If you want the fastest ROM there is, check out an AOSP ROM, like Oxygen or CM7. Most AOSP ROMs are on 2.3.x.
If you like Sense UI ROMs, check out RemPuzzle. Leaf r3, whilst no longer in development, is pretty fast as well.
If you like Sense UI on 2.1, check out...the stock 2.1 ROM

Guess you're right with that, too, but apart from that the question is just nonsense - like "What is the best Operating System - OSX, Ubuntu or Windows 7" - each of it has its pros and cons depending on what you gonna do with it (and how you configure it).
Hi, I`m just coming from an lg optimus 2X and would like to ask you to tell me which sense 4+ ROM do you prefer and why?
Also, which one has the best battery life(what ROM+kernel)?
Thank you all in advance.
I love to give my opinion, but these questions most likely leed to comparisons between roms and kernels. Try a couple (roms & kernels) and see for yourself which suits you the best.
Btw.....not my rule but xda rule so don't put me off by saying this. Its all in good terms.
