Nope not for me.
I havent notcied that problem with mine. Also att stock rom on the tilt 2 only have the newest radio installed 4.4.9 (i think it is). and no issues with sms or mms not coming in when the screen is off, never noticed an issues before updating the radio either though.
Try this: Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications > Event:
Reminders > check "Display message on screen."
new text message > check "Display message on screen."
new MMS message > check "Display message on screen."
Ect ..
Also .. try this cab ..
I spoke too soon. I have recently been encountering this ever since I flashed the htc stock rom 1.86.401.0. it doesnt happen often, but it has caught my attention. before it would come thru with the screen off and when it did come thru the screen wouldnt turn on which was great, but now sometimes it will come thru and sometimes it wont until I turn the screen on, and I have events notification unchecked, I like the idea that the screen doesnt come on to avoid accidential touching of the screen when in the clip. So has anyone found anything to make it stop? Using tilt 2 on ATT.
this sometimes happens to me but a soft reset helped a bit i have no clue as to why this happens but id like to get an answer if anyone can post back
same thing had happened to me. i found out it was the new pocket shield that i was running that kept me from getting the they r suppose to come in.. hard reset will kill it and should b up n running... im on sprint running stock rom!
Werll I dont have the pocket shield. And mine started doing it after flashing the stock rom on HTC site for EU. So I know its not any programs I put in or any custom roms. I think what happens is the radio possibly falls asleep at times and doesnt wake up.
this happens to me as well, but not all the time. Im on official WWE 6.5 Asia ROM.
Strangely, this happen whenever i use custom ringtones (not from windows). Whenever i switch to any ring from windows, the message comes all the time. Can anybody confirm this?
I have the same problem. I have an official Eastern Europe ROM 1.86.401.1. (clean install, no third parties soft installed).
The problem appears even with windows ringtones. I hope there will be a hotfix soon! All my friends think I am ignoring them

Same here. but I also found another bug, I know I should make another post, but I think XDA will kill me
But if you happen to notice that along with this, you will notice that at times, the txt will come thru but you get no alert. And I am using the same rom your using. Its been happening since this rom, and also happens with nrgz rom so its specific to the rom not the tinkering. But I was txting someone today and after about the 3 or 4th interchange I noticed the person hadnt txt back in like 10 mins, when I turned the screen on there was a txt msg that didnt notify me, didnt turn on or alert me, so there seems to be two bugs with it.
Unless anyone has looked into this, I am going to look further and see if this is only when using HTC's enhanced msg program, if it happens thru WinMO going thru all messages. I'll let you know unless someone has looked into this already.

so far im using the ringtones that is provided by default from the windows and everything is good. Will report back though if i do find the problem again.
Oh and btw i had the stock 6.1 WWE Asia ROM before i upgrade to the official 6.5, the 6.1 behave the same way too. Perhaps it is the manila messaging that cause the problem
edit: I contacted HTC via email and they said that they "have no special setting" for this isssue. They suggest me to perform a hardreset. I replied back, "i have and the problem still exist". I'll see what they send me tomorrow and i'll share it with you guys.
I do suggest that we all report this bug to HTC via their email customer service thing so that they recognise the problem and release the hotfix.

I think they are going to have a difficulty with this one because its not repetative and is intermittent. I can say I never noticed this with the HTC Fuze and dont think I ever had this problem.
And being that it doesnt happen often enough I dont think people are going to catch it and they are going to think that they just didnt hear it, unlike us nuts
Hi guys i have posted this on another thread but it has similar symptoms, below is what i have posted in the thread.
I am having a problem with the notification system.
Lets say a person Name "A" sent me a sms, the phone will ring and the light blinks if i did not attend to it.
However the problem starts whenever I replied "A" but left the phone in the TF3D threaded msg screen with "A". After sometime the phone goes to standby. But when "A" replies my msg again, they phone only vibrates and does not ring. The Yellow Led does not blink as well.
I am currently using a stock ROM and i am not sure if you guys experience this as well.
This is Rather annoying as most of the time after replying a person's sms, i would just hit the standby button straight away without bother exiting the threaded sms screen. But if i do that, the next sms that comes in from the same person will not ring or trigger the LED.
I am not sure if this problem has been posted and fix, but after many days of searching i cant seem to find a solution for it.
some basically it means the notification did not come through only in the manila threaded msg screen with the specific person, because i guess they somehow got tricked to thinking that we are actually reading the msg when in reality the screen is off and we are not reading it. Please Check if this describe your problem.
I still need a solution for this
pukipuki,
Seems based on what your saying this might be the htc manila msg program, can you confirm if the same happens if you go to all msgs and bring up the person your talking to thru there and see if it happens that way too? My suspicision is that it wont do it, but I want to be sure, cause thats been my guess all along.
Or can anyone else confirm that it is only happening in the htc threaded msg and not the winmo threaded msgs.
My suggestion would be to try turning System Event Sounds on in the Sounds section in the Settings tab in TouchFLO/Sense. (Alternatively you can acheive the same effect by ticking the Events checkbox in the Sounds tab in "Sounds & Notifications" in Settings for WinMo.)
I came across the 'no sound alert' problem for new texts and found that the audio alert tone came back when I made the above change. (Funnily enough when I was having this problem, I had enabled vibrate for new texts and the phone vibrated even though there was no audio.)
Even with that setting on, the problem still exists.
I've had this issue happen a few times, so I disregarded it, but just a few minutes ago it happened 3 times in a row. Here is what happens:
I'm in the middle of a phone call, and suddenly I hear a beep, and I look at the phone and the call was disconnected (I'm back on the 'Phone' screen). I then realize that the phone becomes unresponsive (the screen doesn't respond, same thing goes for the Home/Menu/Back/Search buttons).
The only thing I can do is press the top 'Off/Lock' button to shut off the screen, then press it again, and everything goes back to normal.
This happened 3 times within 5 minutes.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, any advice/solutions?
My 30-day purchase window is up in about a week, so I'd like to get this resolved before then to avoid any headaches.
Thanks in advance.
Have you loaded any apps? Modified the phone at all?
I've never seen this type of behaviour before.
Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't rooted it, or loaded custom time or anything. The only thing I've done is just download/install some Apps from the Android Market, that's it.
What do you all think I should do?
*bump*
I think I may have fixed the issue -- I had the Google Voice installed on my phone, and when I uninstalled it, I haven't had the problem since (it's been about 3 days).
Has anyone else experienced any stability issues or glitches using the Google Voice app?
My mom has been having this issue with her stock 2.1 Inc... She says the screen suddenly stops working and all that will work is the power button and volume rocker. Says it usually happens mid call.
PS. she doesn't have google voice. And google voice doesn't cause this issue on my Inc.
Yeah, it just happened to me again, and I don't have Google Voice installed, so that's not the culprit.
Is anyone else having this problem? Please let us know in this thread - I am going to swap the phone out tonight at my local Verizon store.
It happens to me frequently. Before and after I rooted. Let me know what Verizon does about it.
Sent from my Incredible.
I got the phone replaced at the Verizon store a couple of days ago, and I have yet to see the problem. However, ill keep a close eye out and will post another update in the next several days.

Hello everybody,
Everything is fine with my Arc, except for the huge problem that sometimes I simply can't answer an incoming call! It happens like this: When a call is incoming, the phone starts ringing and vibrating as it usually does. However, the screen that is supposed to come up which shows you who is calling and where you can select to accept or reject the call is simply not showing up.
Has anybody experienced this before?
All I can do is slide to unlock the screen and then I'm looking at my home screen with the phone still ringing but no chance to get the call. There is nothing in the notification area or anywhere else where I could answer the call. All I can do is to wait until the ringing stops!! Really really bad behavior.
Furthermore, once the ringing has stopped, there is no information about the missed call in the call log. So I can't even call back the person who called me!
First time this happened I had "Plants vs Zombies" running so I figured the phone wasn't fast enough to switch to the incoming call. But it also happens when the phone is idling.
There seems to be no scheme behind all of this. Sometimes it happens twice in a row, sometimes only once a week.
I got my unbranded simlock free Arc in mid April with 2.3.2 and .181 firmware and applied Gingerbreak for root access. Later I upgraded via PC Companion to 2.3.3. and .145 firmware. But I lost root which I didn't like. So I downloaded the Generic World Firmware .181 and flashed it on the phone. Then used Gingerbreak again and made an OTA update to 2.3.3. and .145 firmware. Now I have root and the latest firmware.
All the while I used Titanium Backup to restore all my data, settings and apps as I don't want to reinstall all from scratch because it would take forever.
With this latest firmware, everything is fine, except for the call problem!
Please help me, what can I do?? I don't want to reflash and upgrade or whatever or lose all my data. I just want my phone to be able to handle calls as it should be!!
P.S.: I used Antek App Manager and frooze (not deleted!) some apps which where uncessesary and running in the background or at startup which speed up my startup time and free ram quite a bit. But I didn't frooze any crucial apps, at least I hope. Only stuff like Chinese keyboard and Let's Golf etc.
Also, if I would have frozen the call handling app or something, I wouldn't be able to accept calls in most cases, wouldn't I?

Think you may have answered your own question here...
could be, but on the other hand I only frooze really stupid apps which should not affect any important functions of the phone. Also, if I frooze something important related to calls, why is it working most of the time? This is what I don't get.
Here is what I frooze (most of them just took up space in the app drawer and I don't use them), maybe it helps:
- stock browser (I use Opera)
- chinese keyboard (I'm german and don't need it)
- "Downloads"
- retaildemo
- live ware manager
- fb mediadiscovery
- dlna server
- news and weather
- postcard
- SE setup wizard
- sim toolkit
- sony ericsson sync service
- playnow
- sony ericsson support
- track id
- twitter
- let's golf
- google talk
- sony ericsson sync client wizard
so is your problem solved?
Anything related to google should be left alone news and weather should be fine to freeze or delete but would leave Talk alone, and depending what data from which FW was backed up, might also be an issue.
so I defrosted Google Talk. Anything else I should defrost?
Under "Settings" and then "Running services" I sometimes stop "Timescape Legacy Plugin" or whatever it's called because it takes up RAM. Could this also be a cause but I believe it's only for the Timescape app which I seldom use.

I have the exact same problem.
It doesn't happen often but it's really annoying either way.
I barely installed anything off the market and I don't use any sort of app killers/managers.
that's strange because I thought it could be my own fault because I played around and frooze same apps. But it's "good" to know that I'm not the only one.
Do you have any hints about when it happens or when not? Can you exclude anything?
Today, I re-enabled all the froozen apps and then frooze some of them again, according to the thread here on xda. But only apps about which I was really sure.
Don't know how I could test if the error is gone. I mean, have people calling me 100 times and hope it occurs or not doesn't really sound great.
may be there is some problem in your firmware, try some other firmware of other region.................

That's the weirdest part, the only thing I used that day was Whatsapp.
The incident happened about 5 hours later, I was in a car when my phone started ringing.
I tried picking it up but.. I guess you know the rest..
I was about to buy this phone but now I'm having second thoughts.
@flamez
yesterday it happened to me again. The weird thing is, that my girlfriend said she called me three times but I heard it ringing four times! She claims she didn't call me between her second and her third call! But it definetly rang but I couldn't answer it. Also my other friends say that they didn't call me at this time. Could be someone calling who I don't know at the exact time but the chance is slim I guess.
Also whenever there is such a phantom call, there's not even a hint of it inside the missing calls log. And when this happens, nobody ever leaves a message on my mailbox. Is this the same for you? Could be the person is just lazy but I don't know.
Furthermore, it happened several times to me already and never once a person asked me later why I didn't get their call. Strange, isn't it. It almost seems like that there was no one calling at all!
Now, could it be for some unknown reason that our phones just start ringing as if there is a call but in fact there isn't one at all?! You know, the phone just running crazy and triggering the ringtone? That could be the reason why the "accept call screen" doesn't show up and there's no call log because there is now call!
I know, sounds very weird. But think about it. They could be really "ghost calls".

No, I don't think that's it..
It's happened only twice to me over a 2-3 month period and my friends have always called me back asking why I never pick up the phone.
It really just happens about once a month to me, and I can answer the second time they call me right away without any problem.
Are you guys running task killers?
{EDIT - I remember OP saying that he'd frozen a load of stuff.. Suggest that if you're getting this a lot that you un freeze all of it and see how it goes, maybe just freeze the end user apps - like Lets Golf HD at first then build up the frozen apps slowly until you get the problem..}

No, as I said before, I'm not using any sort of task killers/app managers.
Today first time i encountered same problem. I have WhatsApp running in background. No task killer, nothing else.
Though i donno how to solve this problem. But i can surely tell how to pick up call in this case.
Just press the power key, this will take phone in locked state, but the call wont be rejected.
now click the home key and you will see the answer key, now slide it, it will slide without problem
it's good news that you found a workaround! I'll try to remember it the next time it happens.
Today, I had the problem again but this time it was different. The slider or the contact picture of the person calling didn't appear, but I could see the number of the person who is calling in the notification bar (not the name, just the number although this number and contact is stored in my contacts).
This happened the first time, all the other times the phone just rang without any hint of who is calling.
It would be nice if we were able to pinpoint a certain event which causes this odd behavior but so far I had no luck. What I'm doing differently since the last time it happened is, that I don't use task killers anymore. But still, it happened again today.
It's difficult to find out what it is when you don't know what causes it and when it will happen. For example, it happened to me today once for the first time in about a week.
in recent days, "it" happened very often to me!
Sometimes, the phone manages to at least show the number of the person calling so that I can call back. But usually it doesn't! The call just disappears into nirvana.
Do you guys remember if the error is associated with a certain amount of RAM left available? In other words, if the available RAM at the time of the incoming call is below a certain limit (which I don't know) the phone can't display the call. When it happened to me today, I had only 90MB RAM left. Maybe the phone can't free up enough RAM fast enough?!
Also the trick, which somebody mentioned a few posts above me, that when it happens you press the power button and then home and then you can slide and accept the call very rarely works!
I'm desperate and don't know what to do about it. I have just finished adjusting my phone to my needs. I linked apps with Link2SD and now have over 100 apps installed and still 215MB left on the internal memory, I have root and the .145 firmware. Everything is fine, except for this error!! It would take ages to restore it to the point where it is now, if it is complety possible at all.
I mean, if a phone can't handle calls, what good is it for?
I had a NEC e616 years ago which frooze while sending SMS or crashed after connecting a call or during a call and other "funny" things, but this was well known for this model.
But we don't have 2004 anymore and I except the Arc to work.
I could send it in on warranty, possibly. But then everything would be erased and it would take forever to get it repaired.
And I'm afraid they are going to tell me that they couldn't reproduce the error (because it happens so randomly)!
Such a nice and beautiful phone if not for this stupid error!
I'm already tempted to get rid of the phone and look for something else. But who's going to buy a phone with a bug which can't display phone calls?!!
I mean, I could reset it and flash the fimware and stuff and then hope. Maybe the error is gone. Maybe it persists and then all my data is gone and I have to start from scratch.
Or it is gone and then I have to start from scratch also!
If I should be forced to do it all over again and have all the work, then I could do it on another phone as well.
The Samsung Galaxy SII is quite ugly, to wide and big but I hope it can at least handle a call?!
Thank you for any help!!
Hmm..
If it happens rarely.. Why don't you sell it off on ebay
If asked about other mobile. I prefer sensation to sgs2. Much better phone function. In fact IMO htc is better than all other androids when it comes to phone functions.

This is the second time i have to factory reset my phone because of this problem...
This error keeps popping up over and over and over even if i send the error report over.
The first time, i was playing a game called Death Rally and received a call while playing, after i hung up, the phone screen got locked and upon pressing the power button, i did not see the unlock screen (it is a default HTC unlock screen called Productivity).
Second time, i rebooted the phone while listening to songs using Poweramp. After the phone booted, the lock screen was missing.
on both occasions, i was able to access Settings from notifications bar, and when i did get there, the popup (in the third image below) started appearing repeatedly. I sent the error report to htc a couple of times just to stop it from popping up but no luck.
I searched online and have not come across any workarounds for this except a factory reset, which is the solution i resent because i have to download my apps / restore contacts all over again.
Hope HTC fixes this...
Anyone else have encountered this problem? if so, any suggestions on a non-reset solution?
Thanks

Same problem on One S
This exact same problem just happened to me, on my HTC One S though, after receiving an update. It started immediately after reboot. I can stop by going to Settings -> Apps and disabling the wallpaper "app". This doesn't feel like a proper solution, but it seems to work for now - maybe it can work untill a fix is released.
Yeah, i tried that last time this happened to me, i disabled everything that said 'wallpaper' in the apps. But that did not solve the problem. Its good that it fixed (even if temporarily) for you
Now that i have reset my phone for the second time, i have become extremely careful, but i still don't know what will cause this, and at what point

Having the same issue here. Running stock 4.0.3, Rogers HTC One X. Doing a factory reset will fix it for awhile but the error just comes back.
I had same problem with EVO 3D, after update to 4.0.3. I tried to reset my phone to factory settings, but error was just delayed for few hours, when it started to appear again. The problem was in application called "weather provider". After disabling that app problem was solved. Try that solution.
I installed after that APEX louncher, and other aftermarket widgets for everyday using. I just don't like htc sense, but i really like their phones.
My wife's phone (HTC one X) had the same message come up today too!
Any ideas anyone on what the permanent fix for this is?
I understand that the factory reset my solve for a while, but there must be an underlying issue here.....
hi
i have the same issue with the phone and some times it keep restarting i dont know how to fix
Wallpaper / Productivity has stopped unexpectedly
The message 'Wallpaper has stopped unexpectedly' kept popping up every few seconds on my HTC Sensation XE but it was directly after I'd moved Skype to the strip at the bottom of the screen. Once I removed it, it was fine.
this worked!
Disabling the weather provider finally worked for me! Thank u so much! That pop up msg. every 2 seconds was annoying. And, trying to maneuver my way to home screen through the pull down panel using the settings. It's terrible that cell phone companies make us do factory resets and force us customers to come up with solutions to fix their problems. My phone has served me well many yrs. despite the battery dieing every hour and 3 factory resets, and constantly turning off the screen and then back on again, and all the sporadic screen clicks by itself, dialing numbers and texting people! I'm finally getting a new phone tomorrow, but at least I didn't lose my information this time. Thank you!

Hello. Does anybody have an idea why there is no sound whenever I send/receive calls? Also, the UI/related app crashes whenever I do the same.
No problems when I uses SMS though, so I don't think it's a signal problem.

Maybe a theme issue?
Nope. Just reformatted the phone and did not install any theme/launcher apps
Same issue
I've been having the same issue and I have no idea why. Performed a factory reset. Tried running the phone in safe mode. It seems like it works briefly after a restart but then cuts out after a few minutes. I never had any issues like this before the update.
Problem for me goes as follows.
Receive phone call
Try to answer
Either the phone answers the call and there is no sound (mic or speaker) but otherwise acts normal or the phone refuses to answer the call and the "swipe up to answer" UI keeps reappearing. When the later happens the phone crashes and goes through a restart that takes longer than a normal one.
Make a phone call
No sound (mic or speaker)
The issues with the microphone seems to affect other parts of the system as well, such as ok Google and voice typing.
Speaker seems to work fine other wise
Putting the phone in safe mode seems to delay the problem sometimes.

Same. I'm running a custom ROM and haven't upgraded to 8.0 yet. Does the issue persist with 8.0? Google told me today to revert to stock and upgrade to see if that fixes it.

Same thing started happening for me yesterday!
I was sending a voice message on Whatsapp.
The msg was sent but no audio was recorder.
I received a call but there was no audio (both in & out)
I tried making a call and the same happened.
The "Phone" app would even hang after hangup and would crash. I get a white screen with the G logo and a loading bar beneath it, then it would start.
Starting the phone app is also sluggish.
If I make a call (and get no audio) I try to switch to loudspeaker and I could hear the other party but for a couple seconds then it's muted, then comes back for a couple seconds, and keeps doing it intermittently.
Sound from music app and videos works fine.
SOMETIMES after a reboot phone audio&mic would return but temporarely.
SOMETIMES when I try rebooting and it doesn't work, I try safe mode and it work (not all the time though)
SOMETIMES switching from LTE to WCDMA only fixes it temporarly.
This is really unpredictable.
I reverted back to a 7.1.2 stock. At first the issue persisted then it was fixed for a couple hours.
I updated back to O and audio worked for some time but after a few minutes, the issue returned.
Now I am on a clean stock install of O. without any apps installed. The audio comes back for a few minutes, then it's gone for hours.
Hopefully this thread will grab the attention of someone who might be able to help
Having the same issue on a regular Google Pixel. Also Google Assistant is not working using the "Ok Google" voice command and the phone app - answering and ending calls lag - same issue mic and speaker do not work. In Safe work, they work but on rebooting same issue persists.

stock O, Rogers.
bump - hoping someone has heard something somewhere.
Same here for my regular pixel, this is really annoyed. It just starts happening after almost 12 months since I got it.

I have been having these same issues with my phone. I noticed it happened after I downloaded the what's call app to make a WiFi call. I noticed another user had the problem after installing what's app to her phone. Could this somehow be the problem? I am not super tech savvy but I am convinced it is related to my downloading the what's call app. I have uninstalled the app. Still the problem remains. Any ideas? Thanks.
Has anyone that posted in this thread was able to resolve this issue? I also have this problem, I'm currently waiting for it to happen again so I can pull logcat but no idea what I should be looking for since I have no idea what can cause not being able to hear the caller so randomly.
I was originally suspecting V4A, but last night I flashed stock system img, did not install V4A and same issue occurred.
