Has anyone had this issue? I'm currently running Fresh 3.1.0.1, ran Burnt, and the stock rooted OTA ROM. When I connect my phone to the USB port or into the wall, typing in messages (handcent) responds slower than normal. There is definitely a noticeable difference in response time. It corrects itself in spurts but slows down and continues to play this tug o' war. I have netarchy's latest kernel and everything runs great. When I remove the phone from the charger, I NEVER have this problem.
What's the culprit? I have setCPU set to OC and UC when screen is off.
I can confirm a similar experience using CM6

Are there really no opinions on this matter?
I noticed that I don't have the lag issue with the new multi-touch keyboard (running 2.2). It may just be that version of the keyboard.
Best of luck

I think ever since I started flashing EB13 or EC05 based roms and kernals, I been experiencing thi stuttering lag and when I check setcpu, it stuck on 1200mhz clock no matter what governor its on. while this is happening, if i hit the home button, it wont go back to the home screen, just pop up the recent app window. this is an on and off issue and I dont know the root of the problem. When everything is smooth and no stuttering lag, the cpu clock is adjusting fine when I access setcpu. Any solutions or idea why this is happening? If their is a app to record the screen as a video, I will definitely upload the video or record the phone with my other working epic.
Mine used to do that back on frankenstein
Now on the acs rom (forgot which one lol) works fine

Well I never experienced this on any of my past ROMs,but with EC05 SRF base ROM I've been working on,this happens to me aswell. I'm already trying to narrow this down,I think its kernel based also (EC05 code).I have a problem with popping and static when scrolling, but I can also be listening to music with phone in pocket, and hear it lag every so often, and not at certain intervals (1 hour,2 hour) so its nothing syncing with FB or whatever that's causing the problem. So I'm pretty sure its a kernel based problem. I'm working on a DK28 kernel ROM,stay tuned... What I can't believe is that no other devs admit or see this problem, only users. But I'm sure the wheels are turning, but since I can't code yet,I'm gonna do it my way, hack up a ROM Frankenstein style

glad im not the only one with this issues. happens i think the most when i make any changes with the system.
Really hoping someone can help me. I have had my Defy for a few months and have always been on a custom SBF but continue to experience problems with the Defy working amazingly for hours and then sometimes I turn the screen on and the Defy is working in some kind of super slow mode and opening anything takes ages, everything does eventually open so it’s not crashed but just going super slow!
I am currently on SBF 3.4.2-177 Nordic but have had the same problem on different SBF’s so either my phone has a hardware issue or its some software I have on my phone, I am currently on Beta 6 of CM7 and have had this issue on other betas of CM7 but have never heard of anyone else with this issue. The phone will sometimes go a whole day without the issue also which is weird. It is not overclocked either. When it goes into what I now call superslow mode I have checked to see what the processor and memory usage are and both are around 60% used not being topped out at all. I have even used StabiltyTest to test the memory and CPU when the problem is occurring and both run through fine.
I really would love to know if anyone else had a similar problem or if they know what is causing it or how I can find out what is causing it without removing every bit of software I use. The only piece of software I use regularly that runs in the background is Juicedefender so I am going to remove this now and see what happens over a few days.
Any help would be amazing
Many Thanks
Bob
Did you install the latest patch for the auto-brightness issue? or Did you turn off the auto-brightness?
Thanks for the fast reply I have already installed the latest patch for auto-brightness issue but still have the problem
Was the phone slow in the stock ROM? I mean that's really wired that the problem appears on each SBF
Hi mys_721x, I only had the stock ROM for a matter of days when I first had the phone so really cant remember but I am thinking I may have to go back to see if I do still have problems if no one else can suggest anything else. Cheers
I have this same problem. Only fix seems to be a reboot whenever it happens

Same here, my phone suddenly becomes sluggish and unusable. Yesterday it was stuck on 100% cpu usage, I entered the task manager to see what was wrong and there wasn't any application that was using the cpu.
Only solution is to reboot everyday.
Glad to see I am not the only one, yea a reboot does the job sometimes it can be twice a day sometimes I don't see it for a few days, do you guys have juice defender installed by any chance as thats the only real program which stays running in my background which is extra to the roms I have used, cheers for your input, lets hope we can figure out whats going on.

I had it to in the past. When i tried to lock the phone it took long time and it wouldn't unlock for a wile 1-2min what is verry long if your waiting and afterwards scrolling was lame.
Don't know what I did, but it's gone now. Now only when out of memory(dhuu!)
I think I wiped it cleen, went to a 2.2 and didn't have it again, now on CM.
Do you see in spare parts any apps using mutch cpu?
Weirdest thing that happens to me..
Every hour/day the phone loads up some applications prepared to start when I turn on the phone..
That means that if I close say, tigertext or Skype, the following day, without turning off the phone, hey are running again.. wtf?
EDIT: A way of checking what's using the CPU, if you're on Froyo, is check the application manager to check for services CPU usage
Yea I have no idea what is causing it but little to no cpu usage when it happens, when I lock on cm7 the tv effect for screen off is super slow motion its really strange, did a clean wipe yesterday and did its first slow down today just before post, cheers

Anyone have any luck with this? Mine just seems to be getting worse and worse on CM7.
Update: I've opened a issue for this on Github. You can go there to post new information / symptoms so that hopefully it can be fixed: https://github.com/Quarx2k/android_device_motorola_umts_jordan/issues/204
Hi dasbin,
Since uninstalling Juicedefender from my phone I have not had this issue once, it has now been 3 days which is probably a record for me so I would say that it was causing me the issue, do you have juicedefender installed? I am now using green power it is much better so far.
Cheers
I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this issue or maybe it's just my phone but my keyboard seems to lag (both stock android and smart keyboard pro). When I hit a key, it refuses to respond. I'll have to "warm up" my phone a bit by leaving it on for about 15 seconds before I can start typing comfortably, where every key is responding.
suggestions? known issue on all ROMs?
...or just my phone?
I noticed this too on AOSP ROMs but only when I had the phone plugged in. When I installed the Tiamat kernel it disappeared. What keyboard are you using? If it uses a dictionary it might need to be reset.

I'm running the tiamat kernel, too. I experience the issue on android and smart keyboard pro.
*wait, I just checked and I'm running cm7 kernel. let me try flashing tiamat again and see if that fixes the issue
**nope, I don't think flashing tiamat worked. I changed governor to "performance" so let's see what happens then
***I guess the issue is with cm7. I experienced keyboard lag with omfgb and cm7. not a fan of MIUI so I'm not sure if there's keyboard lag on that ROM. I'm running TSM now and experiencing no lag with the keyboard (or any keyboard) so I think the problem is with AOSP ROMs.
I have the same lag with any keyboard I use. I also had the same problem with my Tbolt. This happens regardless of charging or not.
I don't mean to hijack the thread but has anyone else noticed a bad lag with the XDA app? I hate it. I press see the general section and nothing happens so I hit it again and BAM it loads and in a specific thread. I understand it takes a little bit of time to build the long list of forums but not a general section of the INC2 or other device.
I have a problem that I can't seem to figure out. It started when I first tried the SOS rom with Lionfish. At first everything on my evo was running amazingly smooth. Then out of nowhere My phone started lagging like crazy. Sometimes my screen would take forever to wake up after I pressed the power button. The capacative buttons would light up but the screen would take a few seconds to come on. Sometimes it wouldn't come on at all. I decided to just wipe and try Synergy rom (my current rom) which is supposedly very reliable. After a few days the same exact problems started occuring again. I'm wondering if Lionfish is the issue? Has anyone had a similiar experience? Any help would be much appreciated.
Lionfish is undervolted. Just flash a stock kernel and troubleshoot yourself. Not all phones handle undervolting the same.

Ok, I'll try and see if that works.
I just recently installed CM9 alpha 6 on my Epic 4g Touch but ever since my phone restarts so much! Its just super buggy and it acts as if im holding down the power button showing the options for Reboot, Airplane mode, etc. After that it restarts. It will does this almost constantly to the point where the phone is barely usable. Anyone experience similar issues? Any suggestions?
Using it the last few days w zero issues. Which one are you using and how did you flash?

I just installed it myself yesterday, but all has been good. I haven't had any of those problems. You probably should download it again and flash it again.

Really stupid question, but did you use "Calkulin's_FORMAT_ALL_for_E4GT" zip file before flashing CM9? I only ask because I have had issues in the past with other roms by forgetting to wipe everything beforehand. Even the savvy tech could forget something sometimes :silly:
I'm running the exact same ROM. I underclocked mine down to 800Mhz to save battery and it was causing constant restarts. I moved it up to 1000Mhz and they stopped. If you tried messing with the clock speeds that might have caused it
OP, did you fix your problem or did it just go away? I recently flashed mine to cm9 alpha 6 and am having the exact same problem. Never has this phone had problems before.
