OTA Froyo News Widget Problem - Desire General

Hey everyone, does anyone know the solution to get the news widget to automatically update on froyo? I have to manually update it each time, and I have the automatic settings set for every hour too. Friendstream and weather updates are working fine too.

+1
same problem, but i doubt there is any solution...

Strangely, my news widget never automatically updated before I updated to 2.2 but since I've flashed one of the new 2.2 ROMs it's started updating as it should. I just assumed it was the same for everyone else? I was on a T-Mobile ROM for 2.1.

I just made a thread about this with a solution. A factory reset is your friend.

That's a hell of a way to solve the problem though - reinstall all the apps, set up all the home screens again...

Well I thought I'd just give it a go seeing as pretty much all my apps are showing in the market now anyway. I love the news widget when it worked, most probably the most commonly used thing on ky phone next to internet and picture messaging.

It's easy. Just add to the auto sync settings.

Yeah clicking ActiveSync for it doesn't seem to respond. How can I save my apps and its data though , dere should b a market app for that though rite for factory reset ?

Except that when I go to Sync > Add Account and press News nothing happens.

Just to let you all know It's working fine for me now, over 24 hours since I did the reset.

Same here, not had thing thing update automatically since day one.
Don't fancy doing a hard reset unless I know more then one person has had this fix it.
Anybody tried this and been successful?

HTC news not syncing

Hi
I just noticed that HTC news app (and widget) doesn't automatically sync at set intervals.
Also, if I go to Settings - Accounts & Sync and I want to add news account to sync, when I tap it nothing happens.
Anybody else having this problem, or some suggestions to what might be wrong?
Cheers
I did a factory reset on my phone and never had a problem since. I know its not ideal but at least it works

Yes, afraid that is the only way
Damn! 2 or 3 weeks ago I had the wireless not working after latest OTA, sorted now now but I had to start from scratch. Not again...
Isn't there some clever abd command to sort this? I can sync manually...

[Q] Gmail Not Syncing

Hi All,
Long time reader, first time poster. I've tried searching for this topic, and those threads the touch on it all stop short of my issue. Please let me know if this is covered somewhere else.
My gmail stopped syncing since I've flashed Darkside Evolution Beta03 (otherwise it's great). I've tried clearing the cache and the data under manage applications as well as made sure that gmail is checked on the sync menu, but still no dice.
It used to be that my phone would beep whenever I got a new email before it even showed up on my desktop, but now I have to manually hit refresh for the app to see it at all, let alone before my computer.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I tried this and no dice. It's still not syncing. I suppose I could always revert back to Juggernaut 5.0, which is what I was running before this, but it would be such a shame for what seems like a stupid reason.
Anyone else with thoughts?
Did you try to go to the accounts option and check the sync gmail?

Yes, I tried this, and it did not work. The only time it syncs is if I actually tell it to sync. There is nothing automatic about it ...

hmm try a fresh flash?
Did you by any chance turn sync off by accident

I've been in that forum since day one and have never heard of this issue. Of course I may have missed a post or 20. I suggest not going back like u said, for such a stupid reason. I think ull really enjoy the rom. Reflash cuz that shouldn't happen. I doubt you need to reflash but instead of nitpicking what it could be I'd just super wipe and start over. Good luck.

PROBLEM SOLVED
Thanks to both Teo032 and bzlik88.
I don't know why, but I just reflashed everything, starting from scratch, and it all seems to be working fine. It was the weirdest thing.
Coulda just told your Google account to sync with Gmail XD

HaxSync 2.30

Been using HAxSync for a while, well i noticed it wasnt updating pictures. So i removed the account and readded it. Thus losign all my synced fb contacts and their photos. Now it wont resync them. Im guessing facebook changed something and which is why its not able to pull them down. Anyone know anything about it/ or having the same problem?
Re-install Haxsync, go to settings>apps>haxsync>Clear data. Then try again?
Tried that, same thing
:-\
That's weird. It's working for me.
OH WAIT, I had the same problem 2 days ago. Umm umm, go to accounts&sync>Haxsync>Settings and login again! Keep doing that. I know you've tried but keep doing it 2-3 times.
I know this won't help you, but HaxSync is working fine for me as well...
Oddly enough, the same is happening to me as well. After having it working fine for weeks, Haxsync just up and stopped syncing my contacts yesterday too. Tried uninstalling my 2.29, updated to 2.30 and tried to resync to either a FC or not syncing and telling the system that it was finished in 30 seconds. Odd. Maybe it's a server issue?
Running CM9 on the HTC EVO.
There was and update a while back. The developer said to update at once due to Facebook was changing the way they send their info.

Wait I am having the same problem. I just email the developer. I suggested you all do the same.

Facebook seems to have some kind of issue today, I've been getting tons of reports. I suggest you wait a day or two and try again then. I don't have access to my dev machine until monday, so let's hope Facebook fixes their API. Cheers, Mathias
Its back up.

HTC One V: Opening Calendar soft resets the phone?

Mode: One V with OEM installed ICS and Sense 4.0
Whenever I open the Calendar app the phone resets, it can be immediate or after a few seconds. I've tried deleting the Calender's Application Data and Cache, as well as unticking the Gmail account. It made no difference.
I've also tried completely removing and re-adding the Exchange account. This fixed it for a few days but it's happening again. There is no additional Task Manager installed.
Accessing the Exchange Calendar using Windows XP and Outlook (I think 2003) works without error.
Any ideas before I hard reset? Thanks

Just to confirm this is a known bug and HTC has sent out an OTA update? (hopefully O2 UK are transmitting it). Thanks.
This is a customers mobile. I'd rather not upgrade the firmware in anyway unless I know it will/there's a good chance it will fix this problem.
EDIT: OR are you suggesting I try an OTA SW update?

Twitter data sync disabled

Het
I have noticed over the past week i haven't been getting Twitter notifications. When i looked on the app account settings it says "data sync disabled". I have removed both accounts but no luck.

The sync will come as disabled if your auto-sync is off. Switch auto-sync on and then try.
@tadas_max
sure you're entering right details ? Give other twitter apps a try ubersocial, tweetcaster, etc.

Some apps require auto-sync to be switched on and some don't.

Make sure you're right about the password. **** ups happen to the best of us lol! especially on a touch screen.
That's VERY weird. Tried restarting, flashing roms, factory reset?

I can login using stock browser, so I guess password is not the issue. I am on stock, non rooted phone. Tried restarts, clearing data etc. I guess the only sollution would be factory reset, but ill wait for JB ota, since I do factory resets after each ota
It was working perfect all the time. But one day I started the Twitter app and it said "cannot retrieve post or something like that". After that I tried to remove twitter from my sync account, cleared data, restart phone. Tried to re add Twitter account but when I enter the login info it says "error occurred...try again later"
Sent from my HTC One X
Problem solved. I can login again. The problem was that in time and date settings I needed to select automatic settings. Weird
