A) I've already rooted and got NAND access. I installed RA Recovery and running Fresh 3. My question is: Can I install the HTC Stock 2.2 that's rooted and odexed and customize it to my liking (meaning removing any stock apps I want) but still have the Sprint/HTC 2.2 base?
B) Google maps screen shuts off while navigating. Can you keep it from doing it? For example, I used navigation this morning on my way to work, but the display would shut off without any input after a while...
C) I'm in a non-4G area, my http://www.mobilespeedtest.com/test/big.php results were 500kbps. Is this decent? I'm inside a building and have around 3 bars.
D) Does anyone else find the power and volume buttons to be somewhat hard to press?
E) What keeps someone from buying an app with their Google account, then logging in to their significant other's (or friend's for that matter) phone and downloading the same app they bought? Effectively using the same app on two phones for the cost of one?
F) Can I get Swype?

Yes, just wipe and flash like you did fresh. Then just start customizing to you're liking.

I've only used while charging in my car and it does not shut off. Don't know if there's a way to so that.

Mmm I think I get a little higher I'm not on a 4G area myself bit I can test and let you know my speeds.

Not really

A- Of course just wipe and flash like you did fresh.
B- Don't know I use it with my charger.
C- I'll check my speeds and ill let you know. I'm on a non 4g area but I think I get better than that.
D- Not really.
E- Have not tried it but then again is all about supporting our developers
F- of course I just swyped this, search the forums there is an apk that you just install using something like Es File Explorer. Forgot exactly where the threat is.
Hope this helps.

I know there's a way, but I also know that if you use Googel Navigation it wakes up when you approach a turn, and it wakes and gives you a heads up in plenty of time to make the turn

Not great, but not defective or anything. I would say thats at the bottom of the acceptable scale. I get anywhere from 500kb/s to 2mb/s. Also 3G speeds are very unpredictable. Doing one test is pretty much a waste of time. Do like 10 at a time at different times of day in different locations.
D) Does anyone else find the power and volume buttons to be somewhat hard to press?
Not me

The same thing that keeps people from using a file explorer to navigate to the .apk they just downloaded and making a copy then refunding and reinstalling it. It's immoral and if someone makes a great app that you want then they deserve a few dollars for it. Plus stealing apps makes it a pain to update them.
F) Can I get Swype?
If you aren't in the beta then I don't know. Swype works on the evo just fine, I use it daily.

If all he's gonna do is remove apps then the only difference will be that he'll have to remove 2 files instead of one. Not all the apps in the stock rom are odexed but the ones that do will obviously have a .odex file to accompany the .apk
The reason I wanted odexed instead of deodexed is some of the apps on the deodexed ROM do not work.
I'm also getting around 2mbps on Speedteset compared to the 500kbps I was getting... That's good. Upload speeds are really bad at 200kbps, guessing that's normal.

Ah, didn't know that.
I am a CM6'er
On the Power button issue.....I'm on my 2nd Evo....The first one, the power button stuck up nicely and was easy to press and activate. My new one, the spring-load backing the button seems to be a bit mushier, and the button sits a lot lower and closer to flush with the housing....So, yes, I find the power button to be a pain now. I wonder if your EVO is the same as my new one...

I wasn't aware of this.. which ones?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743781
That seems to be the rooted, deodexed 2.2 final and it says:
Known Issues:
Sprint TV Widget is not working
TI Backup installs but won't run, keeps asking for SU perms
Facebook will not update from 1.3 to 1.3.1
Possible bug: camcorder may stop working after period of time. This has been reported in 3 other deodexed Froyo custom ROMs.
Those issues are not because that rom is deodexed

Oh, where is the stock 2.2 deodexed/rooted ROM without those issues? Or are those issues from stock and just carried over?

Hi
I have just been playing trying to find out if it's possible to replace certain elements of the Android OS with ones from other providers to improve certain aspects.
My main reason for doing this is that my Hero (latest Orange UK 1.5 ROM) has the HTC People Widget which only has the 1x3 option. I'm led to believe that the T-Mobile G2 has a version of the widget that offers other settings (i.e. 3x3).
So the main question is, is it possible to rip the APK from one phone and install it on another?
What I've tried so far leads me to believe the answer is "no".
I've been provided with the apk from a T-Mobile G2
I have a rooted Hero so have booted to the recovery console, deleted the version from my phone (htccontactwidgets.apk and htccontactwidgets.odex) and replaced it with the apk file provided (renamed to htccontactwidgets.apk) then rebooted. Got nothing on this attempt.
My second attempt I used the new apk with the old odex file, this time the widget returned but was still the 1x3 version from my ROM.
Has anybody successfully replaced the 1x3 widget with the improved one from the G2 ROM?

I don't really want to flash the whole phone, I'm happy with it now, i'd just like the enhanced People widget.
I'm guessing it will be standard in the official 2.x ROM.
Your missing out then
modaco 3.1 is exactly the same as the stock HTC rom only about 10x faster. I don't even find it lagging on the keyboard even on the phone keypad. You will have a much more pleasurable experience on modaco 3.1 plus you will have the 3x3 people widget

hehehe. welcome to the flashing addiction!!!!
I have been on the XDA and Modaco scene for a very long time as a viewer and have partaken in flashing custom ROMs several times before but I always have the feeling at the bottom of my gut that if things go wrong I'll be devastated. The Hero is quite simply the best phone I've ever owned (I said my N95 as good and was reluctant to upgrade from that until I found the Hero) which is why I didn't want to knacker it up, but the benefits far outweigh the risks as far as Paul's ROMs are concerned.
I've read with interest people saying that the MCR 3.1 ROM is draining their battery, and I too thought this but then noticed in the "Spare Parts" app that an app I'd installed (ShootMe) was taking up a lot of processor time sat in the background, so the next charge should prove it's normally 3rd party apps that drink battery power
On a final note, just have to say I absolutely love the Dropbear SSH server, makes it so much easier to tinker with the phone being able to SSH from a desktop.
I cant say I have had problems with the battery. If anything I'm finding mine is lasting a lot longer than it used to. Charged my hero 3 days ago and its still green now. This is with using wi-fi every now and again. Auto updating rss, e-mails etc and I text a lot. Now this I find unbelievable but its true I have the stock HTC battery too. On the stock HTC F/W I was re-charging every night.

3 days??????with data connection 24/24??? how do you manage that? i only manage 18 hours with mine. of course with data connection always on, calls, im's, mails
The data connection isn't always on. Wifi is on most of the time, but that gets turned off automatically for a while. But y/day 3G was on all day and it still didn't drain much battery.
Hi everybody, I have been closely following the ICED GLACIER ROM development thread since it was started. I know there is a consistently growing number of people who have just purchased their myTouch 4G phone (android noobs and vets). The ICED GLACIER ROM thread is getting really large, and I am sure the thought of reading through 1,600+ posts can potentially be a little overwhelming and very time consuming. I know everyone is really excited to try that AWESOME ROM, but I also see in the thread that everyone wants to know what works, what doesn't, how to fix this, etc... I'm hoping that people with questions about this ROM can look here for an answer before asking questions in the other thread that have already been answered along the way (sometimes many times). I hope this will help the devs too- if we can provide info and answer questions about everything that has already been answered in the other thread then we can get rid of repeat posts of questions and problems that are cluttering up the other thread- meaning it'll hopefully be really easy to narrow down current hiccups or problems people are experiencing. If anyone can contribute to this thread, it would be greatly appreciated!
*Flashing- When I first flashed this ROM, Iced Glacier was at 1.0, first I flashed V0.5, then V1.0. With V1.1, you no longer need to flash V0.5 or any other version first- you can go from stock rooted to V1.1 (make sure to make a nandroid backup first!!!). If you are not sure how to flash this ROM, or how to root your phone- you WILL find answers by reading through some of the other threads in this section. *It looks like a few people have had problems when/ after flashing this ROM due to not completely wiping the phone in different versions of this ROM- you might want to do a complete wipe just to be thorough (I'm no expert, it's just a suggestion to hopefully save you any headaches down the road)
*Overclocking- Make sure to install/ purchase SetCPU, so you can tweak the processor speeds. If you are not sure what SetCPU is, or how to use it- do some studying first. It has been noted that each of our phones responds differently with the different speed settings- I have noticed, that when I have my phone set too high it freezes (particularly while I'm surfing using Dolphin HD), and I have also noticed that I get better performance (and Quadrant results) when my max speed is set at 1440 mhz as opposed to 1382 or 1497mhz. Again, every phone will respond different. Play with the different speeds and see what works best for your phone- everyone can make recommendations (i.e. lower clock speeds with the screen off, battery low, or temp too high), but in the end you have to find what works best for you. I would recommend that you use the 'on demand' option instead of 'performance' to avoid having your phone constantly working at the highest set clock speed though, and don't forget to set different profiles (i.e. screen off, temp too high, battery low...). Remeber, this will affect your battery life, along with a million other variables related to your phone, so make note of before and after results to find a good balance between speed/performance and battery longevity to your liking.
*Apps and Data before flashing the ROM- install 'Titanium Backup' (I recommend purchase as well to support the creator) and batch 'backup all of your apps and data' (run the batch 'verify backup' afterwords to make sure you have a good backup to restore after installing this ROM). I had problems with my backups, so after I flashed V1.0 every time I tried to batch 'restore all apps and data' my phone would reboot, in the end I went through my backup and individually restored data (and app if it was missing) for all of my apps- time consuming, I know, but it was worth it to have this ROM (note: I was using the free version of TB- I now have purchased the app, but haven't had to use it yet for a full batch 'restore').
*Once you have installed the ROM- open 'rom manager' and execute 'fix permissions'. Do this first, as it will likely fix force closes or the 'instant close upon starting the app' that sometimes happens, before you experience them. After running 'fix permissions'- power down, pull your battery for a couple minutes, and then restart your phone (I suggest this, because I had an 'instant close' problem with wi-fi calling and power down + pull battery fixed it for me). You will also want to check to make sure your wi-fi is functional-if not Gr8gorilla has a fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9328350&postcount=1
*Test a flash website on your browser- if it does not work, you likely have to install flash from the market. If it does work- you should be good.
*Bluetooth- If you use bluetooth for calls, it should work fine (I use bluetooth for making calls and have had no problems with V1.0 or V1.11). However, if you use bluetooth for stereo music (A2DP) I understand that it does work with V1.0, but not on V1.11. I have noticed that when I have bluetooth turned on and try to dial a number on the stock dialer- it is very very sluggish to dial the numbers (ex. I press a 5 on the dial pad and wait about 2-3 seconds for the number to light up, sound the DTMF tone, and provide the haptic feedback). I have since switched over to using the 'atakephone' app and have had 0 problems. ***The devs are aware of the bluetooth issue, and plan to include a fix in the next update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9684992&postcount=1577 *EDIT*- bluetooth fixed in ROM V1.1.2
*Genius/ Handsfree- there have been issues with this not functioning properly or not at all. Again, this will be fixed in the next update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9684317&postcount=1573 *EDIT* Fixed in the V1.1.2 update!
*YouTube app- I would say it's not usable- it starts 'turbo scrolling' when I use it- it will sometimes stop if you hold your finger on the screen, but revert back when you take your finger off. This ROM is based off of the original MT4G kernel and I think I read somewhere that the version of this youtube app associated with the original kernel had this bug. Goolge released a new version of the youtube app yesterday (12-8-10)- since I installed that update, I no longer have problems in the app. *EDIT* See *RECAP- KNOWN ISSUES below.
*MMS- looks like some are having problems sending and recieving MMS messages- it might be a problem with the phone rather than this ROM (I am getting a replacement because my phone has that problem). Depending on who you talk to at Tmo customer service, they will confirm it as a known issue with the 4G. Make sure to do atleast a handful of tests sending and recieving with your phone before and after flashing. *EDIT*- some people (myself included) noticed that when using the stock messages app, contacts pictures don't display- looks like there are 2 fixes, 1 being a FULL wipe and fresh install of the ROM or 2- clearing cerain contacts cache settings as Notxel21 posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9706457&postcount=1653
*Bloatware- this ROM has the original bloatware apps removed. The Monopoly demo, demo video, Rock Band Demo, etc. are gone (as well as some other stuff that I forgot to mention- which is proof that it wasn't needed in the ROM anyway ).*** A 'spare parts' app was added for tweaking window animations and viewing battery stats. A 'dsp settings' app was also added to allow equalizer settings for the phones earpiece, external speaker, and the 3.5mm headphone port (really sweet btw!). I had to reinstall 'superuser', 'rom manager', and titanium backup from the market after flashing. The market still works for me after flash without any glitches fwiw.
***Updates- they will come when they come, theres no need to ask about it every day or so. The easiest way to check for yourself is to open the Iced Glacier ROM thread and look at the changelog in post #2- the devs have been faithful to update that post whenever they release a new version. (You can also look through the first post, but the second is cleaner as they put the newest changelog right at the top of the post) *EDIT*- Version 1.1.2 released
*RECAP- KNOWN ISSUES-- Youtube- no worky until you update in the market *EDIT* some are having problems with the youtube app in the 1.1.2 version- looks like it works fine until you use the app in landscape and try to return to portrait- the display returns to portrait, but stays stretched out for widescreen.
*Themed vs. Unthemed- I tried themed first in V1.0- I switched to unthemed and currently use V1.11 unthemed. I only used the V1.0 themed version for about 15 minutes, so I can't really provide any info on it aside from intense screen transition effects and alot of blue/black icons. V1.0 unthemed appears just like stock (if you don't like the HTC sense, you can use launcher pro, ADW or a list of other homescreen replacements). V1.11 Unthemed looks just like stock, but the drop down notification bar is transparent, and the icons at the top are colored with a circle battery meter that shows the battery % in the middle (very cool). There are other notification icon options available in the themes and apps section of this MT4G forum if you want to try something different, but I think you will lose the transparent drop down if you flash a different bar.
*There are also some other issues that seem to be random- someone is having problems with wifi not working at all, someone having problems with the 'media room' app, etc... to my knowledge there is currently no resolve for these problems.
Hope this helps! If anyone has anything to contribute, please let me know, and I will try to update this OP, so all the help stays in one common place.

No Bugs in Mine
I have noticed none of the above mentioned bugs you claim. Youtube works fine, and so does Genius button. According to information I have gotten from others on IRC, the only bug is BT stereo, which I do not care about to be honest. I recommend the non-themed version.

Duplicate Ringtones and Notifications
I am not sure what happened but all of a sudden I see two of each ringtone and notification. They seem to work properly but not sure why they are showing up twice. I added a few new ones to /system/media/audio by hand. Wondering if this has been tested by anyone else. I do not have any in /sdcard since I thought that could be problematic.
=====================
Update: I fixed this issue by creating directories on /sdcard/media/audio as follows but empty folders:
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Also according to Zinx: Any folders on the /sdcard named notifications or ringtones will be found regardless of subdirectories...thus I think that may have been the entire issue I was seeing.
Everything looks about right

Was that through Clockwork- when you choose the reboot option after flashing? When you power down, do you have to pull your batt before you can restart your phone again? I know that the first time I flash a zip through clockwork, when I select reboot- there is a longer delay than if I were to execute that command without flashing any .zips.
Nice thread, should really help. I really wish someone had a list of the bloatware that was removed from it though, I used more of it than I didn't. There might be something removed that I might need someday.
Hi XDA,
I'm currently running latest Flinny CM10 test build (125), and an issue I've had for a while is that even when the phone is locked, but screen is on, I can pull down the notification bar and do actions. Is this normal? Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be switched off? I am using Apex launcher.
Cheers.
As far as I know this is a standard behavior since android 4.0 (ICS). There is no settings to disable it.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong
EDIT: If you have enabled screen security (pattern, PIN, password) you should not be able to pull down the notification bar. You should be able to pull it down only with slide lock.
I enabled a simple gesture unlock and yes now I can't pull down the notification bar.
It still seems strange that this is normal behaviour.
Thanks heaps!
yup... That's normal...
I also face some issue which is the ROM could not connect to external gps device... I think that's issue exist in CM10 since have same issue with galaxy smtd...
Yeah I don't have working orientation, light or gyro sensors still. It seems like some people have this problem and others don't depending on hardware revision.

Just wondering... Do u install gapps? If not, you should do that when u install it for the first time (after you install the rom).

cm made a 4.2 donut where the base was flashed first still, so starting with eclair gapps where flashed after

I love this ROM, everything I generally use on a regular basis works fine. My only real problem is this ROM is a serious power drain, within an hour of being unplugged in the morning I have already lost 10% of the battery, by mid afternoon I am forced to plug the phone back in, this is something of an issue as I work at hospitals and plugging appliances into the mains is a violation of health and safety regulations, but I need my phone so I do what ya gotta do. Is there any way to reduce the drain from this ROM as I am fairly sure it is not any applications I have installed causing it, as none are running in the background when I check running apps.
plug it in to a computer with a logcat running, see what is going on that way. or if you aren't able to sit in front of a computer for a while watchdog is a nice app for this (keep in mind it should be for testing basis and be removed later as it to will always be running in the background)

evernote makes phone slow
I am using this rom (build 124) and I have and after restoring all my apps it became really slow. After some try/error I found that uninstalling some apps solved the problem. After that I started installing my apps again one by one and I found installing evernote make the phone near unusable.
Anybody is experiencing this? it also happen if I install "camera 360".
I am running build 127 of this ROM which definitely seems faster than build 126 which was the first one I tried and seems to be quick enough to actually use it most of the time.
When things do go slow it seems to be when switching to a new app and seems more likely to happen is the new or old app is big.
Regarding more apps slowing things down I wonder if it is actually more widgets and background services. If this is, as I suspect, do to with how many apps can be cached in RAM for fast switching then the more apps have something running in the background, for example to sync with a cloud service or to keep a widget updated, the less RAM there will be for the apps you are trying to use and there will therefore be a greater chance the app you are trying to start has to be started from scratch.

In my case I am certainly NOT contributing in order to criticise. Of course I know a test build may have issues but, like many others I suspect, I am happy to try the latest thing. When things don't work quite right it is worth discussing it. If we can understand what is happening we can help each other mitigate the issue and maybe even have something useful to feed back to developers.
I was running build 127 and things had become very slow. I have now updated to build 128 and the phone is fast again. At this stage I am not sure if this has anything to do with the new build or whether it is down to apps. I have all 45 apps installed but for many of those that sync to cloud services I have not yet got round to setting up the username/password for that to happen so this may be limiting the amount of background activity to a level where it doesn't get in the way. I'll try setting some of them up and see what happens.
Is there an online version of the kitchen? I ask because it is the last resort to get a fully functional Rom on my evo before I allow my daughter to have it other than using my nandroid of my original and unrooting.
I use a 64-bit system Windows 7. Done research and it says a 32-bit Java will work but that is false. I have spent from 9am until an hour ago (3:30pm here now) formating my hard-drive and reinstalled my OS because it didn't work. Still the kitchen doesn't find Java although I tried to instal a 32-bit version. Online is the only way I can do anything or I need a step-by-step on what I need to do to an apk where I can do it on my phone or I am in need of someone building a Rom. So.....is there one online?
What are you doing? Making a fully functional ROM? Why not take a stock rooted or a working GB ROM like reloaded?
Yea just get a stock 5.07 rooted rom. Not really sure what you're trying to do

I am letting my daughter have my Evo. She has been hardcore blackBerry but given their status she is wanting to try Android. I have flashed every Rom on the first 10 pages of Development and what she has settled on as far as wanting most is Energy Rom. There are 3 problems stopping her from being totally happy with it. First is the 9016. After a lot of searching all I can find is it is tied to the Phone.apk. I have been unsuccessful at changing it out. The carousel shows only a grey screen when looking in Personalize but have been unsuccessful at getting the one from Mik3D installed and working since I know the one from that Rom works. The browser not going to mobile view and being to wide unless in landscape has been the only thing I have fixed. i used Root Explorer and deleted it and moved a basic stock in. Somehow it worked although the other things haven't. I had decided to try my hand at the kitchen to see if I could make the changes that way but it doesn't work on my PC regardless of what i try and believe me when I say I have taken extreme measures to make it work. So my hopes are that either someone can point me in the right direction on how to exchange an apk using only what tools I can find for my phone or in the direction of a kitchen online. For my phone I have installed: Root Explorer,File Manager and ZipSign2.

She's that picky? Tell her to get an iPhone. LOL
Even she is smart enough to know the first flip phone I ever purchased from Sprint way back when they finally got small enough to fit in your pocket is still better than the best Apple ever released.
However, with a little help I think I can make my life easier. I flashed Derp3D again and only 2 small things needed. First is the keyboard. How do I get the HTC back on and with dictionary? Last is how do I get the weather widget with sound? Those are the only things needed. Themes will be easy enough to handle.
Have you tried MikG v3.11 ? Uber Stable. Has a lot of Themes, and Mods available.

The kitchen won't help you for fixing the things you want to fix )besides the fact that there isn't an online version). The kitchen just essentially makes it easier to do the things you're already doing. But EnergyROm is a Sense 3.5 ROM, which is not what the EVO natively comes with. So, there will ALWAYS be issues with it, like the VVM 9016 texts, no 4G, etc. And trying to swap things in from a Sense 3.0 ROM (Mik3D) will only cause more issues. I think you're going to have to "put your foot down" and let your daughter know she can either have a fully functional ROM that doesn't look exactly as she wants, or she can have the eye candy she wants without full functionality.
There are plenty of fully functional ROMs out there with a Sprint base that don't have the 9016 issue. Honestly, those all seem to be extremely minor issues to me. Sounds like you should just bite the bullet and get her an EVO LTE, lol.
I have seen a lot of good reviews of Kendall's ROM, though. But I'm going to assume that's not what your daughter is looking for. Sounds like she likes the look/widgets of Sense.
I remember back in the day I tried a sense 3.0 rom that didn't do the 9016 or whatever, but I don't see how that bugs her. Its just a text message that would only take 2 seconds to delete. When I ran those roms, it wasn't a big deal to me.
With the sense weather part, still didn't have a problem with that either. Just had to turn sound up.

To anyone that knows of a ROM that is 100% functional INCLUDING S PEN!
The ROM I have now doesn't have a working radio so I can't even use my data plan to download anything (sometimes doesn't even wake back up when it goes to sleep). The home internet is constantly blinking in and out, making downloading large files tedious; so if you are positive you know a ROM that has everything functioning (as if it just shipped from the factory!) and de-bloated then please please, do tell!
I'd like this to be a one-shot download kind of thing rather than having to download a mess of things, once I get something that works again then I don't care how many ROMs you suggest.
PS: Are the Note II ROMs naturally huge??? I have seen some as high as 1GB

Have you tried reading through the development section for comments as to what works and what doesn't for each ROM? There are loads that work. And yes, many are quite large.
Android Revolution by Mike1986 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925402) works flawlessly and is as you described. Near stock but completely debloated and optimized for better battery life and faster. Version 10.0 was just released yesterday with some updates.
If i ever need to use a Samsung ROM, i always use Android Revolution as i know it simply works.
Samsung ROMs are normally around 800 MB to 1 GB, completely normal.

Why not stick to stock? Custom roms are nice if you are looking for certain features, but they often come at the expense of being less compatible with certain apps and for the note specifically, you lose apps like s-note.

~While stock is wicked fast and no doubt stable, too many apps run in the background. I did a memorydump once and at any given time (after its sat idle for about 2min) there are usually 40-50 or more apps running in the background.
~Want to be able to continue using Google Wallet (started using it on my Nexus 7 and instantly fell in love). This Isis crap that the carriers are forcing us to use seems like the works of a halfwitt jacked up on drugs and their rollout methods are awful.
~Apparently the stock ROM with all the bloat/branding sucks up the onboard memory like it's going out of style. I don't even use most (if any) the carrier junk but I can't delete them. Thats where de-bloated and slimmed-down-to-essentials ROMs come in for me
~Ability to fully customize how I want MY phone to look and react rather than be just another carbon copy with the rest of the crowd. You wouldn't believe how many people, that have gotten a good look at my old SII w/ SBean AOKP, oooh & ahh over some visual features I could do that they couldn't, especially with battery readouts rather than guessing what percentage you're at with that vague battery bar.
That's just scratching the surface but come-ooooon! This is XDA, what are the majority of us here for anyway?
The Revolutions ROM mentioned above sounds promising and the fellow said all the stock things worked, including the phone's signature ability, the Wacom digitizer and S Pen. Without that working, thats like selling me a factory fresh Porsche but minus all the bits that make it go

I hear you. I was into custom ROM's for many devices, but I found the problems with incompatibilities to be too much of a hassle to use on "daily driver" devices - especially my phone, which I use for business.
Now, I use Titanium to freeze bloatware and system apps that I don't want running. I use the Xposed framework mod to get unlimited multiwindow apps on my Note2 as well as add other features like per-app settings (dpi, full screen, resolution, etc.). I use a Nova Launcher instead of touchwiz, and several other tweaks on my stock firmware.
I found this to be the best option for ME, because the stability on my phone is perfect, battery life is great and I know that all apps will work properly.
Good luck on your quest to find the best rom - you'll likely have to try a bunch before settling down

They're not, the T-Mobile Note II has a dedicated forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1877
GSM Arena says : The device will have a model number SGH-T889 and will reportedly pack the same specs as the international Galaxy Note II (except for the LTE connectivity, of course). Feel free to check out our preview of the Note II for more details on the device.
The most common problem after crossflashing is losing signal. You have to flash a compatible ROM now, maybe even restore your efs partition.

Root is required of you want to get the most out of your device. If you want to "freeze" apps on an unrooted device, go to your application manager in your device settings, click on the system app you want to "freeze" and select disable. If you don't see the disable button, then click Uninstall updates first. Use this with caution as freezing or disabling important apps may cause problems.
Xposed requires root, but it doesn't mess up your system like some hardwire mods which replace system files can do.
