I'm not sure if this is the right place for it, so if not, plz move it
I want to partition my SD card via Rom Manager; however, after I press "Partition SD Card" and choose the size I want, it asks me if I'm sure that I want to reboot and continue. I press OK but nothing happens.
I guess there's something that I'm supposed to do that I'm not doing, any help?
thanks

yes, of course.
If you don't seem to see what causes the problem,
can someone plz explain an other way to partition the SD card?
thanks!
ahh dragon, i'm after a fix for this too. I think its because ROM Manager creates a Ext2 partition and Froyo needs Ext3 but don't quote me on that. I have a post open too asking for alternative things for this.
If you have a spare CD lying around I'd suggest Gparted. its an awesome Live CD bootable program that will do it easily.
I burned the iso to a CD, but I don't get how to start it :S
is your card formatted as fat32? i think this is required.

are you talking about gparted? its bootable, so reboot your pc and boot from the disk rather than the hdd

You need to have your SD card partitioned properly. Also A2SD is automatic so you dont need to do anything.
i partition ext2 & upgraded to ext4 already. it shown success. i dont know which method i done wrong...

idk how you did it, hopefully with the recovery image menu. then you did it right.
what you did wrong was executing a2sd manually. all you need to do is partition your card and flash mcr3.1, that's why it says "automatic" in the description.
instructions for upgrading the recovery image are in the first post of the recovery image thread.
i do it auto & the apps doesnt install on the sd card that y i do it manually >.<"
i just do a wipe & re flash everything but when i install apps it still use my phone internal memory.
Some people say that small chunk of app is still installed in phone.
But I think only small chunk is installed in sd card but large portion is left with phone memory.

can you tell us what makes you come to this conclusion?
please post the output of
Code:
adb shell ls -l /data/app
and
Code:
adb shell mount
while the phone is turned on normally.
edit: remove of image as is wrong command
As for my recovery upgrade i was just able to flash to recovery 1.5.2 already. due to ext4 issue after i follow the code: tune2fs -E test_fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
when i free will re-flash modaco 3.1 to try the a2sd again. hope i able to do it this time...
Would like to know after flashing rom, was it normal that my hero keep on reboot non-stop? should i remove the battery? or should i wait?(so far i always remove the battery as the reboot will never end after more then 30mins-1hour)

you didn't get the first command right, please try again just to make sure. the output of "adb mount" tells us that you have an ext4 partition on your card, which is mounted to /system/sd. the first command (if entered correctly) will most probably show you that /data/app (where apps are installed) is a symbolic link to /system/sd (a.k.a. your ext4 partition). if you had searched for the problem this would not have been necessary... and you could have found the explanation why the internal memory is still decreasing.
Hope this is the correct command:
As i just do a re-flash mdc 3.1 on recovery v1.5.2.
now i still unable to install app in my sdcard as my internal memory is keep on reducing while i install apps.

i'm currently running leedroid 3.0.8.2 a2sd+, rooted using the unrevoked method and i purchased a new sd card.
last time i partitioned i used rom manager successfully but if i simply swap cards with the fat 32 data transfered the phone won't boot past the splash screen.
i've tried to use gparted but my pc refuses to boot from the iso file no matter what format i use (cd, usb drive).
should i be trying to simply copy both partitions to the new sd card and if so how?
apologies if this has come up before but i was unable to find a suitable answer to my specific problem.
When you made your gparted CD, did you just copy the .iso to CD, or actually burn it?
Mistake I made was to dl gparted to desktop, insert disk and drag and drop gparted straight in. Wouldn't work until I used Nero (or other burn software) to burn to disk.
Also, try MiniPartitionWizard. You can dl home edition for free and works very well. Simple too.
The simplest way I find to partition sd card is via recovery. Tutorial here:
http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/12/...tition-on-sd-card-with-clockworkmod-recovery/
I burnt the ISO as a data disc using Nero, no joy.
I'll try that mini partition tool next. Thanks all

Minitool is a bag of crap. If you want to break your sd card and spend hours trying to figure out why it doesnt work when everything looks ok, then go for minitool.
Many will say "it worked fine for me" and thats true, it has worked for many, but it has also failed for many.
I highly recommend staying with gparted.
If you dont get along with burning CD's, it may take a little longer but using a vmware player (virtual machine) removes the need for a physical CD (just boots the .iso). I have a link to my guides in my signature. I have a step by step guide to do this.
+ 1 for gparted
Hi, I'm relatively new to this myself but am currently running LeeDrOiD 3.0.8.2
I bought a new SD card and partitioned it with gparted but I could not copy the ext3 data across. The phone would not boot.
I replaced the original SD card and used titanium backup for all my apps and data and reinstalled LeeDrOiD clearing the data, cache and dalvik in recovery first.
Of course you need gparted to run first. I use the USB boot with Jo problem.
Hope this helps.

Easier way... Copy all onto your new SD... Nandroid before so up to date one is also put on your SD
Then restore nandroid... This will also restore your SD ext

So at the moment my phone is useless. I tried formatting my SD card (My SD card does mount to my computer properly) and that didn't work. I also don't have another SD card to use at the moment. Is there a way to fix this or

Did you wipe the SD Card? If so, you won't have anything on it to install. Is the card partitioned? You should probably try re-flashing your Recovery, using a PC36IMG file in the bootloader.

Just 1gb? (I usually prefer 2gb for a lil more space than the phone would have given me)
Anywho yes.
1) Start from scratch by removing all partitions.
2) Choose 1024 for sd-ext
2) Skip for Swap and sd-ext2
3) choose ext4 as the filesystem
When done you can toggle usb storage from the main recovery menu again and copy back your SD card content onto the FAT32 side (it'll probably be the only mount that shows up on your computer anyways unless you're using linux).
Since you're using EliteMod (from the other thread) you can also choose to convert the existing filesystems from ext3 to ext4 by first checking to see which ones need to be converted by taping 'info' on the first screen and see which are ext3.
Then go into tools, and convert backup/etc -> ext4 , and select specifically the ones that need converting (in your case may be data and cache).
After conversion goto tools -> fix user permissions (not 'needed' but generally a good idea after converting a file system).
It would probably be a good idea to goto wipe|format and clear cache+dalvik before booting back into the rom (it'll see the sd-ext partition and start moving stuff automatically).
If it's all working and such, be sure to go back into recovery and make a backup.
PS: The paid version of 4EXT will let you configure the recovery further from the app, such as telling it not to backup dalvik-cache or cache when backing up (instead they will be formatted upon restore), as well as some other options like hide non-FAT32 partitions from the PC when mounting USB storage in recovery.

I followed your steps ... i wiped cache and dalvik and i flashed dataswap 64 mb and now i turned on phone and there is statement ANDROID IS UPRGADING ..starting applications ..and its loading and loading whats wrong ?
Wiping dalvik cache clears some application related data which is created when the app is installed. Doing this can sometimes resolve some issues.

Nothing is wrong, normal behavior after wiping the dalvik cache, it'll go thru and optimize all your applications and won't show that dialog again until either you wipe the dalvik cache again or a new application is installed without the automatic optimization. You should have seen a # or # incrementing as it was doing it (i.e.: in my case # of 155 applications).
I have inserted a new 64GB micro SD card in my N7100. I am able to see it fine via the phone at Settings -> Storage. I placed a flashable zip on it using AirDroid.
Went to CWM, then 'choose zip from external sdcard' and it shows:

I'm still not sure why Cwm won't mount the external sd card, but I copied the rom & gapps file to the internal memory. It worked from there!
I Solved It
First Solution : (Simple)
For E : Can't mount /external_sd/ you should format your sd card with your device :
Setting >> Storage >> Format SD card
***NOTE: Backup your information from SD Card.
Now Reboot with CWM and choose backup to external sdcard.
Second Solution :
I have Same Problem with galaxy tab2 p3100.
1st you install stock rom your device.
2nd Try first solution!!!
If its Worked Like Me!!!:good::good::good:
