Silverlight SNES Emulator! - Windows Phone 7 General

Hi guys
Whilst browsing, I came across this page at the microsoft channel 9 forum http://channel9.msdn.com/forums/Coffeehouse/543611-My-Silverlight-SNES-Emulator/
The guy has written a silverlight SNES emulator, how cool!!
There was me thinking without native code emulators wouldn't be possible, but heck just tried a rom and it worked, hopefully this means emulators on WP7 even if it does mean side loading them onto the phone.
here's the link to the emulator webpage http://unlimitedgilgamesh.com/supersharplight.html

Awesome. Hope it grows into something great for WP7. Either way nice to see a simple EMU being built in Silverlight and hopefully XNA in the future.

I hope to see a gameboy emulator on wp7 i havent played pokemon blue in years, it use to be the game when i was young

Hopefully the developer or someone else makes some on screen controls

Question, I have a ton of roms on my home computer, how would I go about putting them on WP7?

I'm not sure if you can do it through the web browser control (one would think so) but you could code your own thing to download them at least.

I hope someone ports Scumm over. Those old lucas art games are better touch experiences than console emulators. I also hate using the screen for virtual gamepad and buttons. A device really needs a d-pad and buttons to play console emulators well.

Um, you can. MorphGear plays NES, SNES, GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, TurboGrafx/PC-Engine, Sega Master System, and Sega Genesis ROMs.

Use your PS3 or Wii controller with MorphGear and FPSEce:

What more could you want?

He meant ported to WP7, we know morphgear etc exists

Great! I would love to see other emulators on WP7

There has been NO progress at all.
Just nothing, it was claimed that someone created a Silverlight SNES emulator for the PC and notied it was buggy like crazy but, it worked.
Another person with the gamer tag CreamFilling512, claimed he got it running in XNA 4.0 and WP7, if you take a look at the image, it looks like it was photoshopped. THere is no way it was real, look for yourself..
http://ibghuq.bay.livefilestore.com...OwPxaZPljUzTTX35wTyXaSu8lg/supersharp_wp7.png
A few sites went up so far but, nothing saying that there is any progress towards making a working SNES emulator for WP7. We are currently at 8 bit systems (NES and SMS) but, seeing a SNES is a little time away.
Personally I think this thread should be closed till we get some proof that there is actually one in progress, this just gets peoples hopes up and kind of bumps a old thread.
I would love to be proved wrong here but, I have been searching and there is no active SNES programs in progress for WP7

Pocket GBA and WM 6.5

OK here is my issue, I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 and I just upgraded to the new windows mobile 6.5 rom. I am trying to get Pocket GBA to run in Full screen or....even half scree....hell any size screen would work.
I have a feeling there is no fully complatible GBA emulator for windows mobile 6.5 out right now.
I downloaded the newest version off
http://www.sunbug.net/board_contents/view/250/PocketGBA-GameBoy-Advance-Emulator-for-PocketPC
the cab wont install and however the .zip file will work just fine.
Any ideas or are there any 3rd party patches or is there a better emulator for GBA for wm 6.5 anywhere?
I can see there is no answer, possibly because there is no fully working emulator for 6.5?

nope not really. i've done some browsing for answers and it seems all emulators have some sort of issues with our phones (TP2/Tilt 2) in particular. they will run some games...but framerate, screen size, sound..or something or the other will be missing.
i would love to get GBA working on my phone and of course a playstation emulator to have some of the Final Fantasy games

That would be amazing if they were playable on the phone. the controller would obviously have to me emulated though the keyboard. btw, asiancuta, do you have a ff9 game?

used to own it, but unfortunately not in many years now lol. but i'd hunt for one on ebay, if i know for sure we can have an emulator that works and FF can run on it at 50-60 fps. i've been an FF fan since the NES first one.
FPSece is a PSX emulator that works very well on our phone, it can run somegames a full speed without sound.
http://www.fpsece.net/downloads.htm
Makes me sad when I see a PSX emu running this fast and I cant even get a SNES/GB/GBA emulator running a full speed with sound. We need these emulators to be updated with some better faster code. I know it possible with the hardware in our phone just no one with the skill willing to take the time to do it. Not like I blame them I am sure they have better things to do then make emulators for us.
Awesome to see there there is still some old school FF fans. For the last few months, I've been building a Tetra Master game for WVGA. its at v0.60 "missing the AI still". If your skilled at the game, you could be a beta tester for me. if you know C#, then i would love some help on how to add mp3s into the program.
the game has everything the PS game has, plus more features that SHOULD be included "buying/ selling cards and a non-cryptic tutorial"
Just if people are searching, as far as you're looking to play GB or GBC, I think the registered version of SmartGear is great. Game running, screen orientation and key mapping are ideal.

Where to get emulators and games?

When I first got the Evo, July I believe, I tried an emulator and it lagged pretty bad, button response was terrible, so I quit and I never tried again. Any idea where I can grab a NES, SNES, and Sega emulators? Where can I get games for them?
I did a search for this, but it was all for the Touch HD.

Which emulator are you looking for; playstation, nes, ect?
SNESoid, GENsoid, and NESoid all have lite version available in the market (only difference is the instant save/load feature is disabled.
I have the entire english library of SNES, Genesis, and NES games on my droid (I don't game on the EVO, no good controls lol)
Don't listen to any of these noobs.
Go to the Market and search for "EMULATOR ROMS" by COOLCODE.ORG
The offer an app that you can download emulators and roms directly from their app.
I don't want to give out any site names so PM if you want...

The most recent consoles you'll be able to emulate are the PS1 and N64. Anything newer there is not an emulator for and I doubt there will be for a long time (and certainly not for the Epic.)

Ps1 ran FF7. That'd be fine. Nintendo & Super Nintendo would also be great.
I use FPse for PS1 roms, there's a program called ECM Tools that will help you convert certain game roms into the file type(s) you need to run the image on Android.
I've put SNESoid on my girlfriends phone, she has been playing Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG and A Link to the Past, all without problems.
Both emulators feature save states, you will need a BIOs file for FPse but all you have to do is google the BIOs file mentioned when first booting up the app.
There are emulators for every system you listed accept for ps2 (a tad bit over board for our hardware ) psx4droid ver 3.0.0.6 is the newest ps emulator and n64droid 1.0..4 is the newest for n64. However all of these were recently pulled from the android market. Their developer yongzh has been giving them away for free since just google for the apk. Make sure you have the latest!

And btw all the ps1 final fantasys run well on psx4droid 3. I prefer IX (on disc 3 now with only a few hiccups)

He uses another ps emulator fpse. Personally, final fantasy IX looked a whole lot nice for me on psx4droid with way less pixelation. The secnd part is about the saving system which is independent of the consoles emulated memory cards an takes a snapshot at any point you like which you can load later. Like an old school gameshark.

I use FPse for PS1 roms, there's a program called ECM Tools that will help you convert certain game roms into the file type(s) you need to run the image on Android. -- Google ECM Tools and there'll be a website called Emuparadise, one of the first results. Just check out that page, there's a download link and a brief explanation of what the program does and how to use it (it's as simple as drag-and-drop).
If you download a game image and the files include a .bin or .iso or .img file, those are all good to go without any preparation. (Also wanna mention that the SNES emulator doesn't require anything like this, it's just for PSX games.)
Both emulators feature save states, you will need a BIOs file for FPse but all you have to do is google the BIOs file mentioned when first booting up the app. -- Save states are used as an alternative to the games native save file system. You can save whenever you want and load from that point. The BIOs file for FPse is named SCPH1001.bin, just pop that into Google as well and you'll find it no problem.
Edit: As being mentioned above, psx4droid is an option as well. I had lag issues with a few games while running psx4droid (primarily with the games that came around later in the PSX lifespan) which I havn't had with FPse. There have been a few games where I've noticed graphical faults within FPse, Breath of Fire III had some transparency issues...can't really think of anything else worth mentioning. I had a few roms that didn't work but I've managed to find other versions to try out and have gotten everything to work so far that I've wanted to get working.
I'd try them both out and see which works best for you.

And just let me say that in no way was I dissing fpse. It is most definitely the "faster" of the two.. and has better compatibility overall. But you mentioned final fantasy and I have to mention that I tested ffix on both and px4droid (the newest one, I haven't had much success with anything older than 3.0) just was better for that game. Plus it supports antialiasing which I really notice on this small screen in comparison to a computer monitor. Anyway happy gaming, PM me if you have any emu questions.. btw food for thought- anybody think once we get some quad core action going on in android we might be able to get a pcsx2 port going? That would be sweet.

Did Ouya play store take emulators down? I was thinking about buying one but may not of this is the case. I know you can sideload but..

Not that I can see, also there are plenty of free emulators on the ouya store that run every bit as good as other 'paid' emulators.
The exception in my findings is that epsxe for android is far superior to other playstation emulators on the platform (also they support ouya out of the box).
Robert Broglia is the name to remember with emulators at the mooment.
Mupen64 is good but if you can find a 2.7 version of n64oid, it works even better for n64 games..
Retroarch android has many of these emulators built into the system and it is open source and free.

Cheers Danny.
I dunno. I paid for several of them. I was playing my GBA emulator of Final Fantasy 5 last night. All of my Emulators were on there. Actually they just updated the "Stock" NES/SNES/Atari Emu (it's weird though)
Ouya plays roms like a champ! The GBA emulator works flawlessly as does all the SNES roms I've tried. The SNES emulator is very jazzy and grabs all of the cover art automatically. I haven't used the "stock" version because you have to throw everything into a "Roms" file on the internal storage I think. I like my roms separated by console.

Gaming/Emulating games on the 8 Pro, what's possible?

Happy new year all.
Just thinking of flashing a new ROM and was contemplating what could be possible on current hardware.
The last time I ran a test from top to bottom I hit the ceiling at ps2 emulation but that was dodgy
Anyway, I personally haven't used any of the new emulators for a while so wondered what is currently possible? What have you used? What worked? Or was good?
I know in theory 90% of Wii games should work and everything underneath it, so GameCube, PSP, PSX, N64, Dreamcast, Saturn, 32x, jaguar, arcade, mega drive, SNES, Neogeo.
Any info, ideas, cool stuff,
IMO it all depends on the game.
I play NSMB Wii through dolphin and that works great. But as an example, I can't get Rogue Leader on GC to play on anything except a good GPU on a PC. The Hoth level brings everything to it's knee's and OP8P is no exception.
AetherSX2 is great for PS2 emulation and with a few tweaks seems to play everything very well. I tried shadow of the collosus and Black and both were very playable. Check youtube for how to tweak.
But yea, everything below that seems to work great. Dreamcast, PSP, PS1, Mame. I even managed to get Killer Instinct arcade working throuh retroarch and that worked very well.
You can also play packages for Doom 3 and OG Half Life as well as HL2 and Portal with hacky APK's.

What's NSMB?
Shadow of the colossus? If that's working then that's really really impressive, that absolutely pushed the ps2 to the limit, the use of fog to keep graphics in memory was genius for it's time and to manage to keep the frames up on ps2 hardware.
Cheers will have a look at that ps2 emulator, nice one.
PS:. I've got a guide on how to run PC games with native files
One of the things i've been using for gaming has been this app https://parsec.app/
Pop it on a PC you game on then log in, change some settings then leave that PC alone.
On a second device, android / mac / or other windows device, download the app from the link and install it.
Log in and you can then control the PC you installed it on in the first place, i have to say that the speed of input is really really good, i was massively impressed by the responsiveness and ability to play through games with minimal setup required.
Few things to change.
Set resolution to 1920x1080
Change network to latency / performance
Change network allowed to max / 50Mb
Renderer - DX11
That should work as expected.
I played some PS2 games on my Huawei P30 Pro already.
For the nature of emulation, not every game works. But everything below PS2 and below WII U is probably very enjoyable. Most emulators are open source and are ported to android anyway.
I would say God of War from PS2 is playable on the 8 Pro.
