Test goldcard? - Desire General

I have made a goldcard but is there anyway to test it without flashing the phone?
Also what and how many files and folders should be on the goldcard? On mine there are only two folders.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

can't say how to test exactly but when i completed the process i saw a popup saying "process completed successfully" now you have a goldcard.
don't remember how many folders were there in my goldcard.

Anyone know how many files and folders should be on the gold card?

I would also like to know how to test a Goldcard.
I do however know (think) that there should be no files or folders on the card. It just changes how the device "see's" the card (again, I think, please correct me if I'm talking waffle).

[Q] Question : Downgrade Hboot

I got the tutorials to downgrade form hboot .92 to .80.
Using Unbranded Desire and Amoled screen.
All precaution already been taken.
But when i load the .zip file into the SD card, it wont be detected in the Hboot menu.
I wonder if anyone can share their expert opinion lolz~
Thanks anyone that is willing to reply
I used this tutorial when i downgraded, worked without any problems.
(did not use a gold card though, since i had a unbranded phone)
Good Luck
The zip needs to be called PB99IMG.zip (or something like that, refer to the guide) and not PB99IMG.zip.zip - make sure it's named correctly and it's on the root of your SD card and not in a folder

RUU on a Mac

Ive seen the program OpenRUU but can anyone tell me how to use it?
i want to flash from software 2.09 to 2.10 or above? is this possible? im rooted thru unrevoked but running a stock rom. Other than a gold card do i need anything else to use this program? and even if the ruu fails, it will not damage my phone?
thanks, adbird
EDIT: Actually do i need a gold card, my phone used to be branded under telus, but then i flashed a couple roms and eventually flashed the stock WWE rom, so do i need a gold card?
I have no experience with Mac but if you can't use a RUU, there is the PB99IMG.zip(which you can find using windows when the RUU is extracted) method which functions pretty much the same.
As for the gold card, you do need one, - debranding a branded handset doesn't make it unbranded .
Some people confuse "debranded" and "unbranded".
k thanks i guess i gotta go buy another sd card :/
There is no problem in making your regular card in the device, your goldcard, i.e., you don't need a dedicated microSD for gold card use exclusively .
but isnt clockworkmod kept on the sd? what if you format it
If I understand you correctly, you want to flash "2.10 or above".
Make a your card a goldcard ;
Put the ROM you want to install in the root of the memory card (/sdcard/ - in other words it should not be in any folder);
Make sure that the rom is renamed from something like "PB99IMG_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip" to "PB99IMG.zip" (zip is the extension, not part of the name);
Turn off the phone;
Turn on the phone while holding volume down, it should be recognized and you'll be asked to apply it.
will that unroot the device?
This might work for you
It helps flashing RUU's
WAIT, BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A GOLDCARD. IT IS VERY NECESSARY. THINGS WILL GO WRONG IF YOU DONT.
EDIT: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BOOT GO TO THE BOOTLOADER MENU.
Firstly, download this file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13240777/Desire Downgrade.ZIP
Extract the files.
Transfer the file PB99IMG to the root of your SD card (It is located in the extracted files)
Secondly, disconnect your phone and turn it off.
After that boot up your phone while pressing the volume down button and the power button.
The bootloader should be checking for files after awhile and once it found the file that is supposed to be in the root of your sd card, press the volume up button (NOT EXACTLY SURE, SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT SAYS YES AND CONTINUE)
It should be writing files to your phone. and replaces everything. E.G: HBOOT, RECOVERY,RADIO and such.
It should be writing files successfully and then it would ask you to reboot. Continue with the reboot and you should be having your Desire back to stock. Perfect.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE RISKS INVOLVED LIKE FAILURE OF WRITING TO THE HBOOT. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. MAINLY, DO NOT BLAME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG.
FINALLY, YOU SHOULD BE READING EVERYTHING UP TO HERE AND THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOLDCARD (A GOLD SD CARD)
Hope this helps you and please ask if you have further questions. PM me if the questions cannot be answered here. Good Luck

Yes, flashing a RUU unroots the phone.
But rooting again is easy.

[Q] HTC Locations and Problem with SD Card

Hey there,
i'm using my DHD since 3 months now but i never tried htc locations.
today i wanted to try it..but it said the files are too old and i needs to be updated.
ok - no problem.
i clicked update and it downloaded the files.
but when my phones tries to install the location files i get the error message that the "SD Card is provided write only" (dont know how to translate it correctly )
so what am i doing wrong?
should i reformat my sd card? i'm afraid of loosing apps like doodle jump or something else.
any advice?
thanks in advance,
DN41
push!

puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuush

It must have said that your sdcard is read only...Are you rooted or completely stock?
You can first try to reboot your DHD and see if that helps. Else the ultimate option is to try formatting sdcard. You can always backup your data and place them as they are...
yeah i'm 100% stock
reboot doesnt work, so it seems that i need to format the sd card and put the files back there.
or should i first try to delete the Location files? btw: where can i find them?
so there's no problem when formatting it and putting files back on it again? no problems with apps or so?
DN41
For data, as long as the paths are ok, it should not be any problem. But i do not know about the installed apps (with app2sd) as i have never tried it (but i m guessing it would be ok as well). You can easily download locations from within the app itself.
gonna give it a try
if anything goes wrong, i'll claim you for doing it
DN41
ok i just checked and repaired the SD-Card with Windows 7.
works now.

You using an adapter?
Try this.
If not then try to re-format your card.
Simple really.....read the sticky and fully understand before you start.

Basically the steps to read up on are:
1) make your sdcard into a GOLD CARD.
2) ROOT using Unrevoked.
3) Make a NANDROID backup of your existing rom.
4) if you want full system read and write access then S-OFF with Alpharev.nl
Sent with Desire.

[Q] can't downgrade, bootloader does not recognize PC10IMG.zip

Situation:
I decided to root my phone this morning, spend hours reading guides and decided to try the AMT, everything runs fine till the point where I'm ready to downgrade after applying a temp root, the bootloader recognized PC10IMG.zip which I obtained from RUU but failed with an error 'CID does not match' and from the guide that I'm using it says that I need goldcard.
I check my CID using AMT and it return HTC__044 which is the reason why I need to create the gold card, so then I create a goldcard in another spare card that I got, copied my PC10IMG.zip and redo all the step with a goldcard loaded, now the problem is that the bootloader now does not recognize PC10IMG.zip anymore.
Can someone point out a solution prior to my problem? Would it happens because I create a wrong goldcard?

Are you using a smaller MicroSD card? I noticed that flashing PC10IMG.zip files only seems to work on MicroSDHC cards. That should be 4GB or larger.
You are right, I'm using a 2gb micro sd, will try with my 8gb micro sdhc, will report back.

I think I've read somewhere that several users had problem with file extension, however I believe it's not my case. I do use windows however I turn on the file extension view in folder option, thus I rename my file PC10IMG.zip and I also confirm the name change in astro file manager it's exactly PC10IMG.zip.
So the renaming works with you? I'll check my file name again later this afternoon at lunch break

thanks guys for the reply, it's now confirmed that the problem is my goldcard.
To recap what has happened with hope it will help people with the same problem:
1. Any Micro SD will works, but keep it minimum 1Gb
2. Format with FAT32
3. When you already get CID, split the code into pairs and reverse the order of the pair
i.e. 12345678 split it into 12 34 56 78 then reverse the order while other guide simply said 'reverse' which is ambiguous, to demonstrate my example 78 56 34 12. Next what you need to do is to put this code into http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard
3.a if you use goldcard helper, which is what I recommend, take note the code in mmc2 instead of using the copy feature from the program which will take mmc0.
