I was running unrEVOked 3 and attempted to do the new OTA update for 2.2. When that failed I came to the conclusion that I had to regain stock in order to apply the OTA. This is the best tutorial I could find. Worked like a charm for me. Hope it helps some of you guys!
thanks for sharing, i have tried a few with no luck but will give this a shot.
Anyone that is having problems getting the PTA update for Froyo should definitely try this method. It confirmed to work as far as I'm concerned. I chose the most recent RUU and made sure I used the HTC link that was provided. If you follow the instructions exactly you should not have a problem.
I tried this and it didn't work for me when I was on 1.47. So I just updated to the 3.26 2.2 Rooted roms. I'm waiting for a downgrade option. I set a NAND backup back in 1.32.

Hello All,
I have an EVO that was running 1.47 (rooted) with no issues. In anticipation for a 100% bugless Froyo ROM I unrooted with the 1.47 RUU so I wouldn't have any issues with the Official OTA. After HTC pulled the ROM I found the manual install version here at XDA and wanted to give it a shot.
While searching for the 3.26 "official" update I stumbled upon Ava's 2.2 ROM. I tried to reroot using SimpleRoot OTA and install Ava's ROM. Once I got to step four I received the error that the original version of the ROM was newer and it wouldn't finish. I tried to follow the steps found in thread ID 7454229 (can't post links yet) but received a Error 140: Bootloader Version Error. I figured that the rooted ROMs for 2.2 weren't far off and one of the geniuses here at XDA would have it rooted in a day or two - so I didn't think twice about just updating to the "official" HTC 2.2.
I received an email with Flipz' new Fresh v3 beta and wanted to jump ship back to the rooted world. When I attempt to reflash the 1.47 RUU I still receive the Error 140: Bootloader Version error. So I'm kind of stuck, I know I'm not rooted anymore (I get prompts from Quickboot and ROM Manager) and I can't flash to an older version to re-root. I've searched and tried repeated times with no success - can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
Wait, so are you on 1.47 or on Froyo? I'm a bit confused. If you are on 1.47, then you shouldn't have a problem rooting using one of the 1.47 root methods. If you are on Froyo, you are screwed for the time being.
I'm on the 3.26 Froyo update. I was trying to get back to 1.47 via the RUU to reroot with SimpleRoot OTA. Sorry for the long winded, confusing post. I was just trying to provide as many details as possible. I kind of conceded to just waiting for the official 2.2 OTA and an XDAer to root it. I'm just impatient and really want to try out Fresh v3 and Fresh Kitchen.
Thanks for the quick reply!
I would like to get the OTA update that comes out this days , but I cannot do that because the unrevoked block this option for me. when i try to update it wrote that my system is up tp date. Are there directions somewhere on how to do this for the unrevoked3 setup? Thanks.

Try this. You're either condition 3 or condition 4. Very easy to do, you don't need to remove unrevoked forever (and if you want to keep root access you shouldn't.) to update to the official 2.2. Just use the official 2.2 RUU that's floating around on the boards.
wow it look to complicated to me...
is ther any chance that the unrevoked team will publish a patch for that that will install the 2.2 on the 2/1 unrevoked?
on any other One klick solition?
Help
Hey there to anyone who reads this post. I am stuck going crazy tonight. Long story made as short as possible. I am trying to down grade but none of the video's are working for me. I followed the youtube video to gain root access to my incredible however I guess I dont have clockwork which is necessary for me to go back to 2.1 so I can get everything right. Is there anyway to fix this so I can start over from scratch? My AIM is reddawn1563 and my email is [email protected] someone please help me. THanks Pat
This may sound stupid but why do people want to downgrade. You can upgrade to the official 2.2 right now with a rooted device. Whats the difference?
My problem is that I cannot get the clockwork recovery thing to work so I cant load any other roms or anything like that
Just load a 2.2 Rom and the updated radio, then you have everything the ota update provides and no hassle. It's literally the same thing.

Hi Guys,
So I rooted my stock Incredible a few months back using Unrevoked and nandroid backup, and I know 2.2 just finally came out officially.
I've been keeping up with the forums but having a great deal of time figuring out how to upgrade to 2.2 with root. I actually received the notification from my phone that the update was out -- so I downloaded the update via my phone, and while it was trying to upgrade, the phone locked up -- then the update got lost after that and it says my phone is up to date yet I don't have 720p video recording.
I guess my main hurdle is overcoming all these technical speak -- upgrading radio? adb? recovery? kernel? All I want is to do the necessary minimum in order to upgrade from my rooted 2.1 to rooted 2.2.
Would someone please be kind enough to lend a hand? I've looked through "HTC DROID INCREDIBLE helpful/popular threads [LOOK HERE FIRST]" and other threads, but just get lost in the jargon.
Thanks!
These are some instructions I used to do what you want to do. I also added my comments on how I did it later in the posting. Thanks to Heathsrow for his help.

Updating the radio was the scariest part for me cause done wrong and it could brick your phone. Follow the steps slowly and precisely and it should be fine though.
Thread moved to Q&A.
Are you referring to the post by Heathsrow? But those are instructions to go from a Stock 2.1 to rooted 2.2..
I have a rooted 2.1 already. Will it matter?
This is the guide I started checking out last night. Thinking of doing it today!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771178
Make sure you apply s-off before installing 2.2, either the OTA or the RUU otherwise you will not be able to root it without downgrading back to 2.1.

Just wanted to say I followed this guide instead
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760306
It's a lot easier. if you're already rooted on 2.1 start on step 9.
You can download unrevoked-forever at the top of the guide and the 2.15 radio.
Just make sure you follow the guide exactly and read the warnings about updating the radio.
So basically, I've unrooted using a downgrade tool. When I try and check for updates it says that there are no updates available even though the phone is on Android 2.1. I've done this before and everything worked perfectly with the Froyo update popping up and everything but it doesn't come up anymore.
Assuming you're on 1.21.405.2, follow this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8828524&postcount=2
But this doesn't really make sense since I'm unrooted and I can't access recovery if I'm unrooted.
FIX: Nevermind, it seems to have worked, going to report how things go now.
The first part worked perfectly, however, I cannot get the next OTA, it says there are no updates available and it's at 2.009~.
same here, unrooted today.
Maybe HTC has pulled the froyo OTA's?
edit: 2.10.405.2 upgrade path from 2.09 here: http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/174365-2-10-405-2-ota-manual-update.html
Hi all,
Here is my problem, the other day when updates were being pushed out by VZW my Incredible updated, I woke the next morning and found that I had no root and no way to tether. I have tried unrevoked3 and followed all instructions and still no luck on the matter. I even re-downloaded everything and nothing. Can anyone help me with this.

I'm presuming the gingerbread update reset your recovery to stock. First of all, unrevoked doesn't work on the gingerbread OTA that you received. However, if you're S-OFF you're still in luck. First check if you are. Go to HBOOT and at the top next to the HBOOT version it will either say S-OFF or S-ON. If you rooted with a recent version of unrevoked you should be S-OFF unless you manually flashed S-ON. Then read through the site below
http://pvillecomp.com
It willl instruct you how to boot into HBOOT and flash an image to get clockworkmod back. Then you should be able to flash a custom recovery again or superuser to get root back. I don't know offhand about the superuser flashing but if you flash wildstang's OTA ROM you will have root again.
Check out this thread if you're updated to GB 2.3.4:
