NOTE: I searched the forum and couldn't find the info.... hence the question. Thanks in advance.
I came to my Evo from the Moment, and when you did a backup from recovery it compressed everything to .zip files. However, these recovery backups are compressed into .img files. Anyone have a good idea on how to access them?
I have tried 7zip and it won't - even tried renaming them to .zip to see. No dice.
Thanks guys.
I haven't tried this myself, but I'm pretty sure I saw a program for unpacking img files in Avaboxv2.
Search the developers forum for it.

So maybe I'm slow, but I'm just now figuring out that 7zip can unpack/repack .apk files.
I do notice that the filesize is different after recompressing, and a search turns up some people saying that it's ok. Does anyone have experience repacking with 7zip and have any recommendations on how to do so optimally?
Thanks!
MDM
Well, one thing I've ascertained is that simply telling it to make an .apk isn't the right method. It will do it, but size is wrong, and the resultant file does not work within the phone. :S

http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever#reinstalling_an_official_recovery
Yes this is the type of file that I am looking for but it is v. 2.5.0.1 and I need at least a v. 3 or higher for the evo because I already tried to use this version to restore my nandroid backup but it won't flash my nandroid boot images that were made with 3.0.0.5. Thanks for the help, but this one just won't work.
Is there a way that someone can tell me how to make the recovery image of 3.0.0.5 that you can download into an HBOOT flashable PC36IMG.zip file????
here you go. not sure where i found this, but i had it saved on my sd card for safe keeping. good luck!

Hai There....
After I search around on google I found some tutorials to make a custom rom, ofcourse there is rom kitchen but I like to know how I can make a rom for the Arc??
And is there anyway to to decompile tft ??? because I like to know it too..
Thanks everybody...
+1
Yeah, Ive been meaning to ask this question as well!
Its just crazy having to scour the entire XDA just to find a few skins for systemUI or SEHOME, but a tuts will do a lot more good in the long run.
Will somebody help?
Make nand backup and copy system.img and data.img and boot.img to kitchen folder..start kitchen and start to work.
With this method you can also modify stock rom.
How to get cygwin and kitchen work..use search and you find good tutorials many.
Happy working and give us report about progress.
Cheers

Boot.img is kernel and ramdisk, grab it from the stock ftf if you are working on stock.

Sony fones have the boot partition hidden. So no you can't grab it off fone. You can use the files. Look for iridaki's boot IMG/ ramdisk thread. That explains it. In lots of detail.

Is it possible for me to change a, . Exe file to a, . Zip file?
Generally, no. But I know 7zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/ )can extract the contents of many executables as if they were a zip. What is this for?
Generally no. But what do you need to do and I might try and help

I downloaded a exe file that I wntd to flash
It's probably not too wise to flash an .exe file to your phone. That's a windows executable file and this is Android.

Hey kingtnutt,
What are you trying to do with the .exe file? Do you need to extract it to pull files from it? More details would help.
If the .exe is a "self-extractor" it would probably work to change the extension to .zip and then extract it. It may not, though.

Ok, sounds like you have a self extractor. Follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835033
Sounds like you're trying to install a One-click update.
There are instructions for installing via Mobile Odin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
See the 'Android Section'
sfhub and rwilco12 have done a bang up job of putting up detailed install instructions.
Take some time and really read throught the posts, watch Qbking77's videos and then re-read the posts AND follow ups. Or you could end up with a shiny fishing lure.
Why not use PC Odin? Especially if you're just starting out. Might save you loads of trouble.
Good luck

Unfortunately those one-clicks are compiled in such a way that they can't be extracted. You have two options to flash it, Odin or Mobile Odin.
Out of curiosity, why would you want to convert it to a ZIP?

K. The good news is that these one-clicks make flashing with a ZIP look almost impossible. You seriously plug your phone in and press the start button in the one-click and you're done (that's over-simplifying but you get the idea). Check out the instructions in the OP and it walks you right through it.
If you still want to use a zip Crawrj has the fh23 rom here

Hello guys. I was wondering could someone point me to hopefully a script that can automatically convert a recovery .img to an Odin flashable .tar file. I am trying to flash CWM Touch on my GS3 and I have seen the thread before on here (it was a batch script for windows) but I have continuously searched and searched and cannot find the thread anymore. I have seen the one for Cygwin and Linux terminal converting, but I don't want that. Thanks again -InvisibleNinja

You can download one already made from my Sig too. It'll have a .tar.md5 extension.
